Title: Wallet stuck with low value transaction
Post by: PrintCoins on November 29, 2011, 10:34:35 PM
I was using the Android Bitcoin Wallet. I sent 0.001 Bitcoins to an address with 0 fee. I am guessing this is being considered a spam transaction as it is not being picked up by any block.

My client says that I cannot spend money in this address since the remainder in the address is waiting for a confirmation.

What can you do in this case? Will the transaction just float in the network forever, or is their a TTL? Do I need to extract the Private Key out of this wallet and import it into some other wallet to make the address not locked?

Edit: I realize that this probably should be in the technical side, but I cannot move it or delete it.

How to clear the transaction history is application specific, and I am not familiar with the Android application.  You might be able to find it in the documentation.  So far as I know the transaction will hang out in the network until it is either confirmed, or rendered invalid by you spending its source out from under it.  Most of the major mining pools won't accept transactions that don't have at least some minimum fee, so the transaction will likely hang out there until some solo miner picks it up.  How long that will take is rather unpredictable, anywhere from hours to months, but it should get incorporated into a block eventually.
