Why do you need to know?

Lmao, prolly he's just curious. I bought my first bitcoins back in the year 2014, when the price was peanuts as compared to what it is in 2021 now! But sadly, I didn't hold it, since I didn't really properly have no knowledge about it and hence, I sold it at a not so good profit. I think I bought around 0.5 btc or something. To think that's around 30k$ now sends me chills in spine ;D

Why are you asking that and what is your goal, I think the question is personal and I also don't understand your purpose and can't understand?
If you are planning to buy bitcoin now, why not do it or you are waiting for the bitcoin price to drop a little bit to buy it and hold it.

I bought for the first time in 2017. Nothing fancy and it was actually to convert to ETH on changelly and use the ETH to buy into ICOs. I first came to know about crypto through an ICO advertisement. Then went to the Ethereum website and the tech enthusiast inside me was all fascinated by these astonishing ideas.

I did not understand software development well enough to judge whether those promises were actually deliverable. It was just a wild world which promised gains of 10-100X because i stumbled upon it by accident. So I went on this streak of putting 0.1 ETH on whatever ICO caught my attention. Now, none of them did anything close to a 10X or 100X. Slowly i realized that I had wasted around 0.5 BTC (It was around 7000 USD around that point). Over the years I have kept putting small amounts in Alt-coins but I make sure not to touch the Sats anymore. So although I am still a long way off from regaining the 0.5 BTC but it has been a fun ride of wild hope, FOMOing and sleepless worrying about missing the next opportunity. I am proud to say that I have been frighteningly consistent in missing them time and again.. ;D

BTC/Crypto as a whole is more convenient to use than fiat in terms of remittance and storing funds, that is of you will compare it to banks or other remittance services. Another thing is, crypto is one of the best innovations created as one of the best alternatives to cash/plastic money. Faster and way more convenient compared to another traditional mode of payment.

I bought bitcoins to be part of the community. The last Satoshi that I bought where when Bitcoins were trading around 20-25,000 USD.

In my opinion bitcoins are an awesome investment, especially if you are looking for longterm projects.

At the moment I don't have any excess funds to buy bitcoins, buy I am still trading csgo  skins. Hopefully I can sell some skins into bitcoins during the summer this year.

Initially it was for the potential return. Then I started to get interested in its decentralized nature, the POW, etc. Lately I am not so much interested in the potential return as in protecting myself from the massive printing of central banks, which would be two sides of the same coin. As for the price, I can't tell you, as I did DCA and don't keep track.

I believe some people will say they buy bitcoin because it is decentralized, and that bitcoin was built with open source codes, that it has no central authority. All these positive feedbacks about bitcoin are true, but not the reason why most of these people buy bitcoin, they are just an added advantage. The main reason most people buy bitcoin is because it is deflationary in design, its price do appropriate (increase), that is why people do fomo if the price of bitcoin is rising already.

at what price?
I do not think the price matters. There are people that were owning bitcoin already before its price get to $10, and there are people having it when its price was low. At $10000 when some people will think its price is already high, it even still surprised people and rose further. What matters is to hold and forget about it for over a long time.

I bought bitcoin because I just want to stake and I want to hold this coin for over a year this coin has different possibilities and capabilities today the bitcoin can now adopt into a different industry, the forum also enlighten me a lot of things needed for the bitcoin so the holder can benefit but again it depends on the holder what they want to their coin which is bitcoin. I stake a bitcoin in any price because there's a possibility it might arise because of the market volatility. In the end, it depends on how you handle the coin.

There most be a reason why you are here in this forum and asking this question, I probably believe that you too are involve in the same question you are asking. Well I got into crypto and and bought my first Bitcoin back in 2016 actually to pay for a service which eventually turned out to be a scam but in 2017 I come into crypto trading proper and started investing in Bitcoin for profits and I most say this has worked out quite as I expected. I cant really remember the price I bought Bitcoin at but if you look back in 2017 you most have an idea what 1 Bitcoin sell for back then.

Why not? Bitcoin have some benefit for people depending on their usage for some people privacy is the priority bitcoin and they buy bitcoin to save it as a safe and anonymous investment bitcoin. If you ask me, I bought my first bitcoin nearly 6 years ago and I don't remember the actual price, the reason was clear because of wanted to save some money on bitcoin to earn profits. Right now, I'm still a buyer, even at he current price I keep some money on exchanges and wait for a price correction to buy more bitcoins at cheaper prices.

In my self I buy bitcoin because I want to earn someday on just buying bitcoin in lower price and sell it when the price multiplied then I earned in that way, its just simple like that, thus if you want to earn in the same way just buy bitcoin in lower price and sell it when the price got better.

I am also having a different plan for post bull market with the stability bitcoin is gaining with the institutional investments. Since we are not likely to see the massive dump in bitcoin like in the past, it is worth the longterm hold along with some stable coins. We have not been seeing exchange hack as well, so I think staking bitcoin will be safer with exchanges now. Safety and insurance will be of concern in coming months and will determine some of my decisions.

Its good to ask question like this, because you really have to know your biggest reason on Buying Bitcoin.
At first, I'm hesitant to buy bitcoin so I came a quiet late in this market but the moment I understand how bitcoin works I started buying it at the price of around $1000. My biggest reason why is that, Bitcoin provides great services and allows people to transact money very fast at a cheaper cost and that's why Bitcoin grows a lot over the past years.

I buy bitcoin for profit. Bitcoin has an unstable value and high volatility. Also, the value of bitcoin continues to increase over time. So, Bitcoin is a very profitable investment. I buy bitcoin for the first time in early January 2017. in a short time, I was able to get a lot of profit.

I bought Bitcoin because of the influence of my colleagues. I was too hesitant to buy it early in 2017 because I was still looking for proof that it's really a good investment but things have changed when the bull market happened last 2017 when I got a good profit out of it and I'm too grateful for it. As for me, Bitcoin is the best type of investment these days. It might take a long journey yet it will all be worth it.

Why? because I love bitcoin, the matter of profit is the fruit of what is loved.
How much? When I bought bitcoin it was still around $ 45,000 .. although not much, just a few satoshi, but I still hold onto them very proudly.

Ugh....I first bought bitcoin back in 2015 when I was just getting into it and had just registered on the forum.  The price (as I remember it) was between $200-400, but I didn't even buy a full bitcoin if you can believe that.  As to why I bought it:  Prior to 2015 I was almost certain that bitcoin was a fad that would die off, because I saw how many scams were being perpetrated right here on bitcointalk.  But the longer I watched it and the more I read about it, the less certain I became that this was going to be the case--so I decided to jump in and buy some.

And boy, I wish I'd kept all the bitcoin I've owned.  Time and time again it's proven to be a mistake to sell or spend it, and I probably could have had a fortune by now...but it wasn't to be, I guess.  I'd also add that I've always seen bitcoin as an investment more so than a currency, so I never acquired any simply to spend it on things.

and with the presence of crypto, we can freely conduct cross-border transactions, without intermediaries, without any party participating in the exchange of cryto to fiat money and vice versa.  I was very fortunate to become acquainted with crypto and it provided me with additional work and costs to make ends meet.
So, which other assets can provide a great alternative like cryptocurrency? I don't think it exists, and it's final.

For what purpose? Does my answer will make you believe that bitcoin is really legit and can be made as your investment place?

Bitcoin is become popular now, why don't you believe it? Take a look how many instutional investor are trying to spend their fund to buy bitcoin?

I started to buy bitcoin at 2018 ago, its price still low after a huge increase and create an all time high. Until now, I still believe it and make only one my investment place especially for long term investment.

I buy for financial freedom and general wellbeing what else can be most important than that! Everyone in this space are here for the money except for those who just want to lie to themselves,
Btc has given many youth a way out of economic depression they are each facing from different location, it has been my sincere pleasure to be part of this space, I bought at different price range, also bought at 50k price,
I still consider myself among early adopters even though i came in much later than 2009.

If we'd be truthful with ourselves, many of us bought bitcoin in order to make profit. We, one way or the other, heard about the potentials of bitcoin and become fascinated by the prospects and we bought into it.
Personally, I bought my first bitcoins back in 2017. It was trading at less than $20k then. Unfortunately, I didn't hold for long although I did make some profits.
I don't know why you asked this question but I don't think you need anybody's approval to buy and own some bitcoins.

I guess this is a personal thing and some might not disclose their reason why they bought bitcoin.

Since my reason is not really a big thing, I bought bitcoin mainly because of its features and of course to gain profit on its uptrend. Bitcoin is very popular right now and you can determine each individual's reason on social media platforms or even written in the articles. So do you think why we're buying bitcoin? just to join the hype? of course not. It has an obvious question and most of us have the same answer here.

Hello

I didn't buy Bitcoins for long term holding since my current financial situation is not something that would permit a good bank accounts but enough to pass buy everything. Rest I use Bitcoins for every day basis. For example:
1. I do commissioned artworks and am paid in BTC
2. I do use Bitcoins to send and receive money internationally for my tution fee
3. I use Bitcoins for whenever I can make a valid and secure purchase in BTC online
4. Some sites do have BTC listed as their payment options therefore I sometimes use that also.

Etc.

For me Bitcoins is an amazing investment but since I cannot get an opportunity to make a good investment right now I use it as a currency and for everyday trading.

P.s.
I do not really think that price would matter until and unless you have a big investment in the same, what would matter is the usage , I do believe that even if you cannot invest you can still get a descent use of this crypto.

Something similar but my father actually forced me to sell my btc, whatever I did accumulate back in 2018 and asked me to buy shares in stock market, I did not wanna do that so I gave him the money after encashing. Flash forward- he did buy the stocks - stocks are all dead. He himself dreads why he made me do that and is always asking me about the perfect opportunity to buy some BTC and is also looking for options to shift his shares to BTC .

I bought during the same era, it was 2013 or 14 if I remember correctly. I didn't think of it as an investment back then, I used them for transactions (Buying/selling online goods etc). Looking back, I wish I hadn't spent them. That minecraft account was sure one of the most expensive accounts ever bought.

I learned about bitcoin in 2017, my friends are talking about it and I got curious about it so I make some questions about how did they earn with it. They told me a lot of things about how to earn with bitcoin, there's trading, investing, mining, and even gambling. That information makes me more curious about how can I do it, so I first tried staying on this forum to gain more information and also earning by joining signature campaigns, then I started to invest with bitcoin, I bought at a low price and sell it at a high price, a simple trade that every trader should know. I bought it because I know that it is really profitable as long as you have enough important information on how you do it. There are lots of things I already bought because of bitcoin and it helps me financially and logically on how to make decisions.

The first time I got to know Bitcoin I underestimated Bitcoin, I didn't even want to buy it. Maybe because Bitcoin when I first got to know it wasn't
as popular as it is today, and there haven't been any success stories from other people regarding investing in Bitcoin. And finally around 2016 I decided
to buy Bitcoin when the price was $ 400, because I saw the price that continued to go up. And entering 2017 my desire is getting bigger and bigger
to own a lot of Bitcoin, because the price increase in 2017 really surprised many people. So in conclusion I bought Bitcoin, because I wanted to be rich.

I think this question is kind of annoying because I don't really think you have to know the reason why I bought bitcoin, not everybody will tell you the reason why they bought bitcoin, but i bought bitcoin because I knew the price was very low and it is going to pump hard I bought around may last year when the price was still $10k and am still holding the bitcoin up till now because I believe bitcoin price is still very low and will do well in the the nearest future.
