Title: Need help with a messed up transaction....newbie confusion.
Post by: MARAB on April 08, 2021, 08:47:53 AM
I sent BTC from my wallet to an address that I thought was correct.

1) receiver:  bc1qgn3lq4yntfmgzjh0mht5r4nflcxrmf4sgtf7dv
2) Transfer received (not confirmed in blockchain)
3) Transaction confirmed
4) Funds transferred

However, I do not see the BTC in the account I thought I sent it to. Is there anyway to figure out where I sent it to from the receiver address or otherwise? Please help. Thanks.

Which wallet is the receiver using? The receiver will be able to know the address his wallet generated which was given you. Also from your wallet (sender) you will be able to know the address you sent the bitcoin to.

For transparency, you can use https://blockchair.com/ to track both the sender and receiver addresses.

1) receiver:  bc1qgn3lq4yntfmgzjh0mht5r4nflcxrmf4sgtf7dv
This address has one incoming tx worth of ~0.006 BTC dated on 2nd April. Is it the transaction you are talking about? BTC has been sent to another exchange instantly. It seems like you have sent the BTC in a custodial wallet/service.
If this above quoted address belongs to you and you meant you have sent from the above address, here's the address you have sent the btc to- bc1qgudxjc2c7akqrf67l54rh43d7mm03vds5lfxrt

According to block explorer You sent coins to this address bc1qgn3lq4yntfmgzjh0mht5r4nflcxrmf4sgtf7dv and from that address the coins were sent to bc1qkmxaxeen62q0jffau4apqjveyrplngqpj9cm9t and bc1qgudxjc2c7akqrf67l54rh43d7mm03vds5lfxrt

The first transaction which was income : https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/transaction/a6cdb8bcac20763775951bbd037bcd2104e014302fb2a5d8f6bb822eb2ae8042

The 2nd transaction which was outgoing : https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/transaction/fb2b91c5bbbe0ad4b1cf3b5a0ab340debd24cc99db4cf286e08e6dcc5c8b1059

Have you made the 2nd transaction?
Which wallet you are using?

The sender address: 18WJEvznVtLCbmEwSvu8Qi1S7XEXpuByyr
Your receiver address: bc1qgn3lq4yntfmgzjh0mht5r4nflcxrmf4sgtf7dv

After the receiver address received bitcoin from the sender address, the receiver not quite long sent the bitcoin to two other addresses (https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/transaction/fb2b91c5bbbe0ad4b1cf3b5a0ab340debd24cc99db4cf286e08e6dcc5c8b1059), if that is not from the receiver, that means the wallet has been compromised.

Thank you.
I used Electrum wallet version 4.1.0

I had 2 transactions, the first incoming, the second outgoing.

Did you create this out going transaction:
The 2nd transaction which was outgoing : https://blockchair.com/bitcoin/transaction/fb2b91c5bbbe0ad4b1cf3b5a0ab340debd24cc99db4cf286e08e6dcc5c8b1059

Or it happened without your knowledge. You address is empty because of that outgoing transaction.

You said you have seen the first and second transaction in the wallet you used but in your op you said that you only sent your btc to the address you provided and there is a second transactions. So, I think that you should check the receiving address in electrum and maybe you can see the balance in there.

However, I do not see the BTC in the account I thought I sent it to.
Who is the receiver and is it some centralized service such as an exchange or a gambling site?
Based on how the coins are spent and your comments, if you are sending coins to such services, sometimes they take some time to credit your account even though the transaction can be seen on the blockchain or even if it is confirmed.
The only thing you can do in cases like this is to contact that service and ask them to update your account's blalance.
