Title: What will be the most commonly USED crypto currency in the future?
Post by: yat97 on April 14, 2021, 06:17:05 PM
I think Bitcoin will be held like gold. Maybe even Ether as well.

But I'm personally thinking maybe dogecoin, maybe.... XLM and XRP, as well as Bitcoin cash, Dash, maybe lite coin. Of course USDT type.

I think many people, when the masses start using it more frequently. Will stick to older common coins that can be found at any crypto ATM and have the lowest fees and fastest transaction time.

Anyone disagree or have anything to add?

All that you have mentioned except this and I'll remove bitcoin cash.

Will stick to older common coins that can be found at any crypto ATM and have the lowest fees and fastest transaction time.
I think in the distant future, majority of the investors will learn and will have a thought like yours that most old coins are reliable and there's no need for them to be bandwagon in investments.

I think the best chance has Cardano. With Africa deal they will already become one of most used crypto currency. With that project going on in next couple of years they have a good chance to be most used crypto.

What will be the most commonly USED crypto currency in the future?

Any reason why you did not mentioned Monero, GRIN or Doge?  All of them have secured network by emission and can keep transaction fees low. That is not the case with coins you mentioned.

I added Dogecoin as the first. Monero, unfortunately because it's much harder for people in the USA to obtain it. Other nations may follow suit.

I haven't heard of Grin

Hmm... Yes, IF they can get the Africa deal, they might very well be. But that seems many many years away but if it happens. I think Cardano might be it. Then Doge, and the others. I really see Doge being up there.

I think Bitcoin will be held like gold.

Bitcoin is already being held like gold, just like every asset. Another coin which will be in the same category like is Ripple and Cardano. They have good potential in the future. Though, Bitcoin will always remain the best.

I'm not a fan of Bitcoin Cash. But I'm hoping to see Bitcoin continuing to be used as one of the best alternative currencies in the future. I have also big expectations from BNB and Ethereum especially.

I think it will be the stablecoins the most used ones as currency futurely. Volatile crypto currencies tend to become a reserve of value, being held for staking and speculative reasons.
Unfortunatelly this is the negative side of crypto. People don't want to spend coins which can increase a lot in value yet. The called deflationary currencies.

Bitcoin is not only held like gold, but its getting to gold marketcap as well, we need like less than 10x to be above gold in market cap, that's totally reachable for bitcoin, we have done bigger increases. Obviously we should try to go even higher than gold eventually, that should not be our max cap and stay there, but the day we beat gold will be a great day for everyone who holds bitcoin.

This is why I believe bitcoin is the one and only when we are talking about mostly used common crypto. Sure other ones could have a better blockchain, they could improve upon what bitcoin built, but it's such a big coin right now that even if you build a project that is 100x times better in blockchain, that doesn't mean that it will be worth more or used more than bitcoin. Even at these high tx fee's bitcoin is still leading the world in transaction amounts.

Bitcoin more likely will only become store on value same like Gold, Ethereum much better since it's offering different with use case with better Use case, It's smart contract can become a basis for financial process and everything and more transparently, faster & cheaper. XRP was good too since some bank already try to implement it, Beside that for fiat i suppose USDT still the main tools for now but since some country already experimenting with CBDC, It's going to be replaced later.

Lately some Decentralized Storage & Cloud was also come in to crypto Space like Arweave, CUDOS, AIOZ which will change everything. Well, let's wait for now and see what will happens!

I think dogecoin may start taking too much of the shine. Dogecoin has surprised the crypto space by climbing this high to $0.11 despite the supply. Elon musk has been very instrumental to the growth of the coin and since then, we saw the growth.
level. Dogecoin had a stop at 0.05 for more than two months just like bitcoin did around $56,000 but now it has moved just like bitcoin too. Dogecoin might keep taking all by surprise being a group or public project.

Most used in terms of what? As a usual currency? As an investment?

I can say, at least 80% of all coins are being used, not in their respective use-cases but for investment type.

That trend will always be the situation so I would say BTC will be the only one that can hardly use both as a currency and investment within a long period.

Yes, BTC may be used as store of value than money or crypto.

I guess those coins that are quite cheap and the transactions are quick will likely be be the most used in like 5-10 years from now.

Maybe we can see another crypto that will pop up and chase the status quo, but for now I will say that bitcoin is still the king and more people are going to used it as store of value, currency or as money.

Obviously bitcoin will be the most commonly used crypto. And beside that ETH, LTC will have vast use cases as well. Among all cryptocurrency, bitcoin is adopted by most of the companies and platforms. And I think it will be accepted at all platform in near future. Some other alts like ETH, LTC will have their chance after BTC. Still I consider dogecoin as a meme coin. Don't think that it will have much use case like other alts. Bch won't be used commonly and XRP lost it's fame for the SEC issue. The price growth of a crypto doesn't mean that it will be used commonly.

For sure, BTC will hold the position for the best and safest "store of value". But there will be a loot of space for crypto like ETH because it will be a necessity for running DAPPs. Some of them will be using other chains like EGLD and I think that diversity is really good for a natural growth.

I agree with your opinion. because many people will hold Bitcoin and Ethereum as if they were storing gold.
You need to know, actually Gold is a true stable value, where currency inflation seems to make the illusion of rising gold prices. Whereas what happened was that the price of money had fallen. Whereas Bitcoin is an asset that refers to the FIAT currency, the increase or decrease in the price of Bitcoin is due to the fluctuating supply and demand.

but I would like to add that for now a lot of people are keeping BNB because this coin has great potential because the market is very popular with many people.
a better reason is that BNB has succeeded in being a solution to the phenomenon of increasing transaction fees on the Ethereum platform, so that some developers (who also automatically bring their community) choose BSC to be their Dapps platform. That's why BNB has become popular at this time. We could see more intense competition when Ethereum 2.0 was released

For me, the highest market cap cryptocurrencies is an indicator of the "most commonly used cryptocurrency".
But cryptocurrencies got different major uses, just like Bitcoin which is for payment, Ethereum for smart contracts.
If OP is referring to transactions or scalability, there are already lof of alternative cryptocurrency for Bitcoin now.

If you are updated in crypto currency market you can see it all there. If I will be ask what commonly used crypto in future is that Bitcoin because many people witness how it grows before achieving its level now. BNB also because of its potential to grow more and more. Many people believed and look forward for it's success in the future.

The most used cryptocurrencies will be listed on the top of market cap websites.

Coindesk is a top-notch websites for cryptocurrencies and they have Coindesk 20 List (https://www.coindesk.com/coindesk20). The table lists 20 cryptocurrencies that are filtered by Coindesk. See their methodology descriptions (https://static.coindesk.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/coindesk20_methodology_final_102020.pdf) from Coindesk Research team.

It's already predicted since a few years ago if bitcoin = digital gold. That's why more and more companies were buying bitcoin as their long term reserved funds.
Bitcoin acts like a new digital gold with limited supply.

I don't even think you can consider doge, XRP and XLM would be the same as bitcoin. These coins have their own purpose like XRP to be a payment system.
XLM is not having good fundamental to be used as a store of value.

I think it is clear that the bitcoin will be the most commonly used the crypto, and besides that etherem and the binance will also have the wide usage compared to other altcoins, because The eth and the bnb have the great potential to become the most valuable digital currency exchanges accompanying the bitcoin in the future.

I think stablecoins like Tather will be used in the future. Bitcoin and ethereum will not be included in it, because transaction fees are expensive and the price is quite high. so this can make it difficult for people if they want to use it everyday. if in the future crypto will replace FIAT, stablecoins are the most widely used choice for this. therefore stablecoins have the most likely to be used in general.

If you're reffering the most "used" as the cryptocurrencies that very frequently being chosen for making some kind of payments or transaction then it's definitely those coins that has lowest fee, I usually uses tron for making payment online due to the fee and many payment gateway already accepting it but if it's the most used for various activities like trading, etc I guess it's bitcoin.

I think it will be bitcoin no matter what because the fee transaction is so low and can be used to buy goods and any other crypto currency.
If bitcoin's fee was not so high it could be the most used cryptocurrency for making transactions or purchasing goods but the fee could eat up the money sent easily but there's also wrapped btc or somekind that can be an alternative but still not widely accepted across payment gateways.

Yes you’re right for sure, I think the coins you have mentioned will be commonly used for transactions. Then as for Bitcoin and Ethereum, I am not going to judge by what’s happening right now whereby the fees for transactions is much, I believe that in the future the problems are going to be fixed for good.

Ethereum devs are already working towards the ETH 2.0 and when that one rolls out it’s going to solve a lot of problems that the main Ethereum had. Then as for Bitcoin, we thought before that the lightening network would be the solution, but it seems that is not it. So for now we will be waiting to see what would happen, but I know for sure that a lot of people will be making use of it more than other cryptocurrencies.

I think XRP will be one of the front-runners of the most commonly used cryptocurrency in the future. It is designed to be a payment system, after all. This will be used for day-to-day transactions with fewer fees compared to BTC or ETH. Additionally, it is fast and cheap.

You are right bitcoin may not be a commonly used coin as most people are preferring it holding and not making use of bitcoins for day to day life needs. So, coins which are having cheaper transaction fees will be the most used coin for sure. This way tron got plenty of choice to become a most commonly used coin. After tron, I guess dogecoins and weaves are having good opportunities to be used for most commonly for day to day life's needs. Let's wait to see who wins this race as per your criteria.

I think like some have said Bitcoin will be held as gold and not used as a currency.

You could call me an Ethereum maximalist, but I also dont think Ethereum will be used as currency but as a store of value, similar to what Bitcoin is but for more complex use cases, NFTs and DeFi for ex, it's just too valuable for day to day stuff.

I would say from recent experience in a multichain game the coin that could be used as day to day currency will be be one with with a very low fees and fast transactions times. Candidates atm BNB, Cardano, Tron ... some other new coin.

If we're talking on pure volume, for the foreseeable future the most traded coin will probably continue to be a stablecoin, USDT or USDC.

Few people consider stable coin after bitcoin itself. Bitcoin is obvious getting to the asset class like Gold and may sustain the scarcity irrespective altcoin dump. Stable coin can easily gain the trust of Governments because of its volatilty, which could improve adoption among countries for online trades. The only challenge for existing stable coins is the cash value to defend the market cap.

but for now I think BNB also has the potential in a better direction I can even say that Bitcoin will still be the parent of all coins and will be the King of Coins, ETH will follow in the same direction as bitcoin and BNB will have a chance In the same direction like ETH now.

Bitcoin take priority if your focus is on the ones it is used most often. The adoption of bitcoin in large companies today will probably spark more adoption in the future so that bitcoin will continue to be the most widely used crypto as a mean of payment. There are several altcoin that may be a payment alternative and are used by many in the future and I think it should be a low fee altcoin.

-snip-
I am wondering why coindesk doesn't have BNB on their list.

It's hard to say now. At the moment, the entire crypto market is still speculative and there are too many things on it that depend on external factors. There are too many cryptocurrencies on the market that are worthless and mean nothing, I mean in real life. Therefore, before talking about what the most useful currency will be in the future, you need to understand that this can only happen in the future in which the cryptocurrency will be decoupled from its financially speculative element. Otherwise, Bitcoin will be the most useful currency.

All coin that you mention has its own blockchain for coin circulation. I believe the coin that will be used in the future are those coin that can be transfer on different blockchain by using a universal blockchain bridge. So far there is no project like this but a coin that can be run on different blockchain will be the one who will in the future.

For me, I'll still go with bitcoin, ethereum, binance and ripples. If virtual currency will commonly be used all over the globe, those coins will be the useful currency for most people and transactions. In fact, smart contracts also have a high potential to be publicly utilized by the people if that time will come.

I think mostly have big percentage possibility to be used depends on fees and speed transaction maybe BNB or BSC. I mean, by price already bitcoin and ethereum have high fees that we want to use it or maybe to withdraw or send or do anything else with it. But BNB itself always depends on how Binance progress.

I think a privacy coin like XMR is a prime candidate. if crypto replaces FIAT in the future, then privacy coins will have a spike in demand. but stablecoins also have opportunities, because if everyone wants to use them, one of the conditions is that their value must be stable.

Looking at the present condition of crypto towards government adoption, it's really hard to tell right now. But i agree that despite of its uncertainty, bitcoin still held the most useful currency and probably the most popular one not just as a currency but more of as a good store of value.

I think we are missing one part about government intervention. They are not really supporting any specific coin right now, they are just saying that either all is good or all is bad depending on the nation but they do not really pick a coin and then say others are bad, I haven't seen any nation came out with a law like "bitcoin is fine, others are illegal" or something, which means there is something there. However one thing I am pretty sure about is the fact that if BNB or basically binance starts to deal with governments?

Basically do what government asks them to do? You could literally see BNB accepted in every store in that nation, government putting one coin above all others and then making it super know and promoting it, and even have like billboards and promotions and so forth "accept bnb and get 5% back" type of deals I don't know, that will basically be super awesome and would make it common. Of course if Binance accepts something like that.

Not in the US. It's not a super simple process of obtaining monero. Easy once you know what you're doing but you have to go through some steps. so unless that changes

Cryptocurrencies that are commonly used in the future are definitely popular and provide many benefits for its users. I will choose the top
cryptocurrencies that will be widely used in the future, because besides being able to make money, top cryptocurrencies also usually have
a large community. So it makes it easier to make transactions using top cryptocurrencies. Such as BTC, ETH, BNB, DOT and ADA.

In the future, it is likely that cryptocurrencies will become more commonly used and applicable to fiat assets, and stablecoins will be used as a means of daily communication. And the big coins like btc, eth, bnb, ... will be seen as one of the more investment and use in everyday life.

I think Bitcoin will be held like gold. Maybe even Ether as well.
We are already in the future. Bitcoin and Ether have been used in different subject such as security(Blockchain), banking system, currency purpose etc. There will be more stuff going to happen with these coins considering there are some stuff that yet to be discovered.

I think the crypto that will be the most commony used in the future is bitcoin because it is the safest cannot be hacked. Bitcoin has a bitcoin lightning network where the fees are low and  high speed transaction,  so people will love to use it. I believe that in the future bitcoin will be the main currency of the world.

BTC hopefully will retain it's number one spot but of cause more and more assets will try yo match up. Like eth and bnb too will really make waves in the nearest future.

And I think that the BNB. First, it skyrocketed in price. Secondly, its network is used by all new projects. They have low commissions, everything is very convenient and simple. And third, it is a stock coin, and almost all of them are becoming very popular

Bitcoin managed to stay at the very top for a very long time up until now. It wouldn't surprise me to see it in the near future being the most used cryptocurrency. There will surely be a lot of adjustments before such thing would happen and it is required that bitcoin would be fitted to be used by anyone in the world as it gets more universal than ever. There are even rumors that tells bitcoin would be the single currency declared by the new world order. Still those are just theories so there are no certainties yet. We will see what will happen for real but for now, one thing is for sure, bitcoin will keep on dominating till it becomes legal and recognized all over the world.

This will be the end for many crypto when the network gets "too" crowded. BTC and ETH won't be the only unusable "gold-like" crypto. Maybe we will even declare Dogecoin as the new store of value. Who knows? Apparently, the most usable crypto currencies are the ones that people use the least.  8)

Nothing will be able to disrupt BTC at the top and that has been proven from long ago until now, even when BTC is corrected, other Altcoins will not be able to catch up and even they all often experience corrections when BTC has decreased, so how can they to shift BTC to the first position?

Still Bitcoin which is mostly used and future still far to conclude, currently the huge gap between any other alts are far to reached, bitcoin acceptance coming from all sides of the world are very wide.
While after learning bitcoin interest to invest and use other alts are also possible, if ever that there's coin to surpass bitcoin in terms of usages it something about how people see the value of transacting.
Yes I agree. Right now bitcoin must be the most commonly used it cryptocurrency and it may remain as same in near future as well. The reasons are obvious.

But, anything could happen for this scenario because right now bitcoin transaction fees are skyrocketing which might lead people to think about switching over to different cryptocurrencies which are having lowest transaction fees. I'm seeing already lots of people are talking about this but probably they will never leave off bitcoin just because of this reason but they may start thinking like having bitcoin only for investment purposes and for day-to-day activities they might start adopting some new other cryptocurrency given that is having the lowest transaction fee.

I assumed because we are in "altcoin" discussion, it was negating bitcoin and asking the other ones. Like right now ethereum is used a lot, even though centralized exchanges are still insanely high, uniswap is doing a big deal, which is growing as well so maybe one day the biggest exchange with the highest volume could become uniswap? Who knows. Or pancake is doing great and BSC (and BNB because of it) could become huge as well, who knows?

This is why I think it is really good to know that if you remove bitcoin out of question, there are few coins/tokens that could become the biggest. Hell Dot is brand new if you consider it and people use that a lot as well, XRP is an old head that I do not think worths the attention it gets, but it is still used, Doge became a crazy thing because of Elon, but I do not believe it could be the most used one. There are a lot of them that could fight for a title behind bitcoin.

in my opinion the most frequently used in the future are bitcoin and ethereum, either as an investment or as a means of payment (currency)

A few days ago i asked this question from one of my friend (who is new in crypto) and he told me that Doge coin is the future and it will replace all other currencies.
I could not stop laughing at that time but it is a moment of concern if many people in the crypto space have this similar thinking.
even now I laugh too :D
did you ask a beginner? because beginners will assume Fomo doge will continue in the future

I think as long it is crypto maybe USDT will be used since it is stable coin, can choose chain to get low fee in transaction. And price is already fixed and people not really hard to measure the rates since other coins is really have a big spread when it up and down. But once again, used in masses maybe means people will use it as daily and not only as investment.

no one really knows the future at this point , all people can give is to speculate. i am pretty sure bitcoin will be among the commonly used except if the transaction fee and confirmation issues is still there by then.

The future is full of uncertainty, but I  totally agree with your list and no doubt all those cryptocurrencies will be commonly used in the future, I believe future investors will still believe in bitcoin and recognise it as the one true decentralized cryptocurrency, bitcoin and Ethereum will be the two major cryptocurrencies and no doubt they will be held like gold, cause someday the crypto marketcap will surely surpass gold's marketcap.

Bitcoin will be the answer for all the time.Because the bitcoin will rule the world in near future.People with good knowledge will inverse in bitcoin for the long term. Some people will lose their money by investing in a worst coin by considering the future. We can't say it sure, the coin will sustain in near future. So hold only the potential coin to gain in future.

Bitcoin of course. But if we talk about altcoins I think for now my guess is ETH, BNB, and some stable tokens. These tokens have their own strengths and merits if we compare them to each other through these is the tokens I think that will have the most transactions in the crypto space.  ETH and BNB have good smart chain capabilities which I think they can be the ones who will have the most used and the stable coin which is regularly used by traders and crypto users to avoid volatility.

Right at the moment, bitcoin is the most useful digital currency all over the world now. Then, Ethereum, XRP and BCH. I don't know about
the other coins. These are coins that being useful in different countries at the present time now. In fact, we have one place here that have an ATM where you can able to withdraw bitcoin then automatic convert into fiat something like that.
