Title: Coinbase secures eSports partnerships
Post by: tomahawk9 on April 15, 2021, 02:50:58 PM
I was watching a Counter Strike (a multiplayer video game) professional match today and i saw a small Coinbase ad right in the middle of the match. Went to google to see what's up with that and wouldn't you know it, Coinbase are one of the main sponsors of this event + i also found out they've started a sponsorship with a popular esport team called Evil Geniuses

Thoughts? pretty cool to see a big crypto company like Coinbase recognizing the value of esports events and the huge market behind it whcih has tons of potential customers as cryptocurrencies are very popular in the esports world

The people of Coinbase understand well the marketplace, and they know which sector has that big potential for immense growth, so they must have sensed  that eSports will definitely be growing at a tremendous growth rate and that there is a massive amount of money that can be made in this industry. Plus they know that eSports can be ripe for cryptocurrency and Coinbase is now positioning itself to be the biggest exchange platform especially in the gargantuan USA market.

Coinbase knows that it's good time for them to expand their business with the institutions on board. Besides this online advertising are way cheaper than advertising on the television media. But I like how sportsbet.io advertise bitcoin. They take the leverage of promoting bitcoin in their business.

Esports fans are generally young nerdy(-ish) guys, which is coincidentally can be said about crypto enthusiasts, so it's a pretty smart decision from Coinbase to advertise themselves in this field.

Let's just hope that their new customers will learn about "not your keys - not your coins" and will use Coinbase only for buying and selling BTC, and never for long-term storage.

They have a successful IPO. Their path to merging with other industries for cryptocurrency adoption is expanding smoothly. I think Coinbase they are aware of their power in the crypto space and they are taking careful steps to ensure they don't violate any government regulations.

Exactly, is for the young, the old and traditional gamblers like us, still prefer sports betting and the slots games. Anyhow, I would say that this is a win-win situation for us crypto and bitcoin enthusiast, the word could easily spread because of their sponsorship.

And that will be the next step, I'm pretty sure that those nerdy(-ish) will understand the "not your keys, not your keys" paradigm, but for those average young players, it might take some time to get it until it's too late.

I believe we will not only see them in eSports but also in real life sports all over the place. Cryptocurrencies are a hot topic and visibility is worth a lot to them for the onboarding of new and especially young customers. I can easily see them on the front side of a soccer jersey in various soccer leagues. They are sitting on a huge pile of cash ready to be invested in promotion and sponsoring.

Esports events and gambling industry bring big income to companies and operators. Coinbase don't have restrictions to join the game and it is understandable to see them finally joined the party.

After the massive hype with institutional investments in 2020, Elon Musk and Tesla in 2021, I prefer to see more big news of bitcoin adoption. It has to happen and bad news in the last week with potential governmental regulations are not new. Those bad news don't change anything of the trend.

Coinbase participation is great for this industry as they can give official payment gate (as merchant) for Coinbase users to bet on gambling sites.

If we're going to consider Square's Cash App a "crypto company", then they've also secured a partnership with 100 Thieves, also an eSports company. If anything, 100 Thieves is actually the eSports team that has merch that actually looks good in my opinion lol. And dig their sick gaming facility!

Definitely a smart move by Coinbase though. Targetting the youngsters, which are pretty much the people who are going to inherit the money of their parents sometime in the future.

Well, that is a given thing to happen because they are a public company and they have to do everything that they can to be known to the public, I do love that they are advertising in eSports but my problem is that I don't like that they are partnered with Evil Geniuses because there are more teams that are far better than EG like OG but maybe the reason is that they are an NA team.

How did you say that the OG is way more better than EG? Is it just because the OG is the 2 time champion of The International? How about the majors that the EG and OG are invited? Do you see that the EG has always getting the higher position or ranks than OG? This is not just OG are the 2 time champion of the international means that the OG is the more superior team all over the world. Team Secret also they are one of the best teams in which they always sweep the finals all of the major that they are playing.

In terms of popularity though, who do you think is more popular than the two, yes EG has more but in terms of who will come to your mind first, I don't think that EG is the first one to come and now that you mentioned Team Secret, pretty sure they could snag that sponsorship if they want too.

See what I comprehend there is that, companies and some individuals have understand the easier way to bring up images of any project up within some time, your right because going radio house or television media for advertise a project it will consume time before becoming influential or well known to the societies, but with the help of Internet it speed up the level of advert, really the objectives of any company is to expand their institutions.

Promoting cryptocurrency through the gaming world? Wow, that’s really nice and it’s going to help. I love the kind of moves that Coinbase has been making as of recent , they are making sure that they are showing up in places that they are meant to be to promote themselves and attract more users to their platforms and also help in getting more crypto users.

It is very nice because news like this makes most of us happy, they got added to Nasdaq recently, all these things are really pushing them to a greater heights. I look forward to seeing other cryptocurrency platforms doing the same thing.

Apart from coinbase, Elon Musk’s favorite meme-based cryptocurrency Dogecoin has recorded a new all-time high of US$ 0.145308, soaring over 28 per cent in the past 24 hours. Also, nowadays investors pick Bitcoin as their first crypto choice. But Ethereum, which surpassed the largest cryptocurrency with a double margin year-to-date (YTD), is becoming a great option too for investors.Ripple’s XRP token has grown more than doubled to US$ 1.96 per piece in the past one week. It is an eye-popping recovery for Ripple since 2018. The coin is glittering again, up 100 per cent up against its 52-week low of US$ 0.1742.

Business sponsorships aren't something whereas you just throw as much money as you can and the receiving company would have no choice but to accept due to the huge pay. These companies already have sponsors to start with, and have to wait until expiration dates. That, and negotiations aren't always guaranteed to go through, even with a sponsor as huge as Coinbase(e.g. a company like OG could've been demanding a pay that's too high, that Coinbase might think going for EG has a better risk:reward ratio).

Coinbase knew that it wouldn't be enough for them to stay as an entity that caters to a single form of service/business. Esports sponsorships are often really successful given the viewership each major tournaments garner. Though of course choosing the right teams is key to getting your sponsorship money to somewhere. I like how Coinbase is trying to expand as soon as they went public. Gotta prove that that valuation is actuallg worth something, though of course they should still focus on the cryptocurrency aspect of their business too.

I will not be surprised if Coinbase starts its own crypto betting platform in the future given how strong that market is for some time now.

They are really serious about getting new awareness from young people.

No matter how bad they might treat their customers, we all have to admit that they are doing very hard to bring bitcoin and their company to mainstream. But If I had to choose, I would never use coinbase as a cryptocurrency service because there are thousands of better services out there

Most users of esports and sports betting are young and have a few times more ideas about the online world than the average person. Coinbase has chosen the right place for their campaign. It is true that the current young generation is more interested in cryptocurrency and Coinbase has taken this opportunity. Maybe in the near future, they could be sponsors of the IPL or the World Cup. Seems you don't like Coinbase, It's a matter of choice, but they are also promoting Bitcoin and cryptocurrency by promoting themselves. So, it will play a very positive role in the massive growth of Bitcoin, I support it.

As they should. Catering to the younger people, despite probably them being "bad" customers for now(because most don't have that much money compared to their parents), better get them to know your company right now so they'll be an easier sell sometime in the future. It's a great long-term investment strategy in my opinion.

Coinbase is right to collaborate with esports, because this will make it easier for the global public to recognize coinbase and what is the real coinbase. plus esports always hold international game tournaments, of course, it's faster for Coinbase to be promoted

eSports has been growing fast in the last few years since it becomes one of the most favorite sports among young people. I am sure Coinbase realizes its potential to develop more in the future. With many young people involves in eSports, it is the chance for Coinbase to promote their service there. As we know that most crypto users are at a young age or young generation, it is the right decision to have a partnership with eSports.

smart move on their part but not that surprising, but just like gambling casino I assumed other companies(such as coinbaise and etc..) would and expand their market and try to appeal to the younger generation by connecting themselves to it which has a predominantly young audience or people who grew up knowing/familiar with new technology. now I only wonder which company is going to do it next.

It isn't growing fast, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger, remember that the International 9 is considered the biggest eSports tournament in the planet for almost 2 years now, I would say that the game that has eSports is increasing with more competitive scenes in almost any game imaginable, I would say that they are getting recognition from the mainstream.

That's a really cool move from coinbase team to start getting their service out there through alternative platforms like eSports. The good thing here is that eSports has a very huge audience that would instesd like andget hooked to whatever coinbase offers to them about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. Looks like coinbase is all out to become a determing force in the space. Big ups to the team.

Huge fan of rtz here. Of course this is a very good move considering that recently their Dota 2 division has also just become the runer up of Singapore Major (they choked in the grand final, lol). previously there were also large teams that joined crypto such as OG Esport. But because EG is a team from NA. then this partnership is even better, because both of them have a more specific target market, besides that in my opinion this is also a very good partnership that has an impact on the world of esports in the future.

Coinbase are so damn serious this year to push their platform and that’s very nice. They have really been doing enough and they have mostly been in the news more than other exchanges and platforms that has to do with cryptocurrency.

I am expecting this kind of energy from every other platform, if they are all going to be pushing like this, it is going to help the community and we are definitely going to have more and more people joining the community and investing their money which will also help the community to be growing and also lead to more increase in the price bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies there are in the market.

This is a very smart move by Coinbase many are not recognizing that esports are going to get huge during the next years and decades, and while some may think otherwise it is easy to see why they are wrong, people enjoy seeing others playing games this is why we have the sports industry in which adult people get paid millions to play a kids game and in that regard esports are the same with the difference that instead of seeing some adults chasing a ball now we see young people engaging in all kind of video games that are more impressive to the viewer than what many regular sports offer.

Nice. Coinbase is expanding its popularity throughout the esports community and that's why we have the sportsbooks that have esports game and they can be used to it.
But I think if Coinbase is having a partnership with esports, they probably have thought of gambling because it's the most common thing that can be related to cryptocurrencies for esports whilst, they have a rule about prohibiting transfers from gambling sites.

This is a very interesting piece of news. Not only is Coinbase increasing its popularity, this will also help the adoption of crypto in the mainstream world.
With companies like this adopting crypto, it sends a message to he world. It tells them that crypto isn't bad like many have perceived it to be. It tells them that they bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies are actually made to give freedom to the people and they have so many benefits.
I wouldn't be surprised if other companies follow in the footsteps of Coinbase

Normal sports as well as eSports are both the perfect because the audience is relatively young in particular for esports and those are the people that Coinbase wants to target with their advertising campaigns.

Very fucking cool. As someone who loves eSports, damn this gives me a smile. Who knows, maybe binance will sponsor a CDL team in the future.

A similar story would be the CashApp PayDay, where CashApp x 100 Thieves hosted the biggest UNO tournament, where the winner(CourageJD) won 100k USD in bitcoin in his cashapp wallet[1]. Gaming x Crypto is evolvingggg, and I am all for it.

Right now, the gaming scene is soo into crypto, its heartwarming. I witnessed so many eSports pros talking about crypto, doing a proper research on their investments and what not.

I so badly want the eSports world and crypto world to collide regularly, not just in terms of partnership.
