Post by: sujonali1819 on April 15, 2021, 07:01:17 PM
Today I visited Dash telegram group and I notice someone posted a telegram link and asking it's real or fake. For first view I assume it the same group/real that we are browsing. Late someone say it's fake one. I double check and yeah I able to discover that it's really fake and the scammer just changed the group name like as Dash Official chat. whole the part of that group changed like as dash.

To scroll above I see people are talking about the doubled their money , got 2 btc bla bla bla. More above I discover a link of recent trending fake give away sites. You can not believe that how many fake message or screenshots posting running there since 27 March. Still they are posting fake message, screenshots and even I saw someone uploaded video also. LOL.

Here is some screenshots to get it shortly.

You are absolutely right, now many scammers create telegram clones to trick users. I've also been put in a fake group, luckily the scammers aren't really smart or newbie scammer maybe. When I'm has been added by scammer, I know the username, who is the admin and owner of the real group, and the scammer doesn't change anything that makes it similar to the real group and account owner. So that I can immediately leave that fake group.

Then, there are currently a lot of presales without a 3rd party, presale hosts just announce from telegram group. When we buy new tokens on the official group, we also have to be careful. Because, often scammers infiltrate by providing fake address presales. If we are not careful, then we will become victim to this kind of petty crime.

The same with TRX Airdrop group worth $300. The group just copied the official Tron Group. LostRelics too. They copied the whole thing of that group. Good thing Telegram has that "SPAM and LEAVE" notification at these groups so it's a notice that in case we ended up at this group, it's the fake version.

I suggest those Telegram newbies that always set your profile not to be added by anyone to prevent being in a sh*t group.

To do that, just go to Settings > Privacy and Security > Groups and Channels > My Contact.

Let's bring this fake Telegram group down, find the 3 dots on the right side of the Telegram account, and hit the "report" and then "Fake account" and might the staff of Telegram will take in action once they received a few reports.

We should always be vigilant about the airdrop, giveaways, and even the double investment scheme because they were most likely scams in the end.  Think before we act and conduct research is a must before putting your money.  Nowadays, scammers are getting smarter and always looking to take advantage of the greed and naive people to fall into their trap.

I saw someone using Coin.ph wallet and it seems there's my fellow countryman there.

This is very common now on Telegram, especially if you just use the search box of Telegram to find some telegram groups/channels, there are a lot of impostors.
Most of the newbies are the main target here, especially for those who don't really familiar with Telegram. That's why at first, I need to find first the official website or social media handle of particular project, browse and check if it is the real, and then there you can see some of links for their different social media accounts or contact platform, like Telegram/Discord.

- Do this if you don't want to be dragged to different telegram ICOs (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5127958.msg50451196#msg50451196). Change your Telegram settings to block group invitations from scammers.
- Some Telegram tips for newcomers in the crypto community (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5200303.msg53040758#msg53040758). Check Telegram ID, username to detect impersonators.
- Telegram Scams (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5037588.msg46153795#msg46153795)

Scammers in Telegram groups try to impersonate admins, moderators. They set their Bio with the username of real admin or moderator. They hide their username and show you Bio that is faked. They use same avatars of admins or moderators.

Topics above have some steps to pre-block scammers and detect them.

You know what's funny? Some fake groups are even larger community than the original that's why some people are gonna be wondering if the fake one is really a fake. They usually used search engine on telegram and of course the one whom visited mostly are the one pop up and usually it's the fake one. This happened when there is a great news on the project or something big happening. So much better if newbie will double or triple check the group they are joining much safer if they go to coinmarketcap or coingecko and click the social from there instead searching.

That is the saddest thing in my opinion because they have more potential to scam gullible newbies because they have the numbers to back it up and they even have the ability to defame the smaller legitimate group since they have the numbers. One thing that is taught to me that applies to almost every aspect of life is that if something is too good to be true then it probably is.

If they offer to double your money in a short time, you should be suspicious because how you can double your money without you doing something?
That will be the biggest question for people who are curious about how it works and will not try to send some amount to them.
You need to think that it is good to be true now, which will be ended by scamming you and getting your money quickly.
To double your money, you need to work, no matter if that is related to crypto or not, because you will not earn anything if you do not do something.
If you got an offer in telegram, just ignore it and do not try to chat with them as they will find a way to trick you.

There is a good rule of thumb which says: think well and think a lot before entrusting your money to anyone. Do not rush!
A good project will never consist of one telegram group. If there is a distribution, there is a website, there is a team, there is an official document, social networks, and so on. And none of this was created yesterday or a month ago. It takes time to earn the reputation and trust of customers.
But if someone believes that the channel is distributing something to the Telegram, and besides this channel, there is no information, this is a red flag that speaks of fraud.
Scroll through the history of the group's telegrams, if there are numerous people, there will certainly be more than just positive reviews. There is always someone dissatisfied with something. If you see only a beautiful picture, then you have an army of bots in front of you, writing the same thing.
In any case, trusting strangers, get ready for the loss or finally start thinking with your head that nothing is free.

True, the moment you talked about facing a problem in any popular project telegram group you will get a PM from people pretending to be part of the team for that project, this is very common on telegram too, newbies needs to watch their steps anytime

It is hard to investigate every single giveaway, investment opportunity, and so on. So for a newbie to avoid becoming a victim while still on the learning process, he/she will have to disregard all kinds of giveaways, investment opportunities, crypto bonuses, free tokens, and so on. And, most of all, they should never ever send any amount of money to anybody.
A giveaway means that you get something for free. If you are required to send money first for whatever reason, it stops being a giveaway. If the giveaway requires your personal data, passwords, KYC, private keys, or seeds, you are selling that information and exchanging them for whatever is offered in the giveaway. If the giveaway requires you to register on a site, like and follow social media profiles, tweet, post, comment, it's also not a giveaway. You first have to do a service for them and provide proof of completion to be eligible to receive those coins.

You will get a PM in many groups as soon as you join asking you if you solved your problem, how they can be of assistance, and if you have heard about their incredible investment opportunities. ::)

This is another thing that newbies should be aware of. Oftentimes, giveaways are not totally free. There is something to be done in exchange for them. Whether or not they're still considered giveaways doesn't matter much. What newbies should learn is that this is where scams are waiting for them to make their false move. So, as I've already said, it is best for newbies to do away with all this while they're still groping for the basics on how things work in crypto. They'll have their time soon. No need to hurry.

And because of greed, whatever you say to these people who joined these doublers are still going to join. It's kind of sad and funny at the same time because in the real world they are very smart actually, one I personally knew is a lawyer but still believed to double their BTC.

If you suddenly saw that you are added to a group that you don't know, edit your telegram privacy >groups>contacts.

There are several groups like these scams, moreover if the group is now very popular or booming enough.
Many people are trapped by this kind of scam. Commonly the groups are likely similar but actually different. They may be included several advertisement that require the members to pay or invest something:
- Fake investment
- Fake airdrop group
- Fake VIP group channel
- Fake token sale
- and also other fake things.
And I don't know why even we have reported them and invited people to report those fake groups, they are not missed, they still exist because they have so many members of the groups.
We need higher amounts to report that kind of scammer again in order to remove the groups. And it seems like there will be another new fake group again after a group is removed by Telegram.

So, this should be more and more careful on these scams because commonly they really offer very interesting investment, programs, and anything that will give you money or profits so easily and instantly. Watch out!!

Not just one more fake group on telegram with a lot of community I don't know if it's a lot of bots or not what is clear they must be installing bots to look like real ones.
sometimes when there is good news or a trend where a project is successful, there fake communities will come and make the group more real, even though what we pay attention to is not necessarily true with their offer on the channel.
Even many newbies enter into the fake channel because no one notifies them when they ask any questions it will be prevented immediately or via PM which causes the newbies to be tempted and influenced by it.
I keep an eye on what I know when I ask.

Actually there are plenty of these guys on some telegram. Whom creating a fake conversation or trying to make one so everyone in the group will read soemthing fancy and later on drag some of them to join or insist them on investing or anything that they can invite off. I experience seeing these on some defi telegram groups where people are should I say bots are love to make a conversation that you noticed the time frame of their sent message is so fast like programmed.

If a member in one Telegram group contacts you first with the username of admins or moderators of that group. It is very highly that member is a scammer. Admin or moderator of group won't send you a PM first.

It is more true if the PM is talking about private key, mnenonic seed, or deal to make deposit to any address. It is very easily to detect scammers who impersonate admin or moderator.

PM first and ask for some information about your crypto, deposit, anything that can help them to compromise your wallet, accounts and steal your crypto.

If you can do it and you won't lose anything, I would probably advice newbies to stay away from Telegram as a whole or if not possible, try to avoid the groups as much as possible, you will never know how much stress you are avoiding joining this groups.

That's one of the most famous schemes that these scammers are using to fool newbies.

Also these newbies are easily fooled by doubling bitcoin, fake giveaways, and etc., that they think that it can double their money.

We should always keep in mind that it is much worth it if we really worked hard to earn money instead of relying on fake giveaways.

Other scam telegram group pays some shills just to make them look legitimate, we need to be aware that since this is know the trend tactics now. Maybe its better to stay away on giveaways or other offering this to us. telegram is not the best place for newbie especially if they look for investment since that place is haunted by so many scammers.

Although its not wrong to join any giveaways or airdrops on telegram but we need to do if not double checking a multiple times before we provide any details especially our money

Telegram is not that safe but I believe its a good way to spot some potential projects, though newbie will find it very scary since many scammers are lingering on this place. However, If you are already used to these scammers you just ignore them and make them looks like idiots. I'm always hanging around telegram to seek new projects to invest with and so far I'm doing good locating those gems.

This somewhat explicates even further the idea why newcomer investors are victims of scams, cause imo, as a newbie TG should not be the first point of contact to sought ways of earning returns, the thing to do is to be grounded on the tenets of cryptocurrencies, from it's security protocols, to 'rules of thumbs' that guides investors/traders, etc; and as such after all that knowledge has been acquired in a quantity that could be considered sufficient and adequate, then lurking in Telegram to find projects or whatever could possibly give returns wouldn't pose as much danger as it ordinarily will with zero knowledge.

Oh my bad. I already assume that whenever they come at telegram, they already did their homework. No one would go to telegram especially if you are a newbie without any knowledge of what you seek. I'm just saying that telegram is a ground for earnings when you used to it. Well Im not sure how other interact on it. But newbies will always experience good and bads and thats part of crypto life. Losing money on a good search not means it's a failure, you'll learn from it and next time you dig with something then you already dug a gem that could change your life.

on telegram there are many friendly people (people who pretend to send you first PM), but they are not really friendly people, they are just con artists who want to steal your money.  almost every day i am entered by strangers into a telegram group, starting from the farming group, pump & dump group, and even the crypto exchange group.

for newbie....only you can escape yourself from con artists who are in telegram, do not believe in "easy money". (that is the rule)

Telegram has become a hub for scammers to try their luck out but only a fool will fall prey to such scams. A few months ago I joined the official group of Polkadot on telegram. It was a Read-Only group.
After one or two days I noticed that the group has changed from read-only to a normal one where we can send messages.
I saw a lot of messages where they were sending fake give aways telling to deposit 100 DOT and receive 200 DOT.
This was obviously fishy. It was later that I discovered that someone used the same profile picture and name of the official Polkadot group.
The official group was still read-only. I just reported the group and left. This happened 5-7 times again.
