Title: 2fa authentication yobit
Post by: prasanna1976 on April 25, 2021, 09:39:09 PM
Hi,

Hope someone can help me. I lost my phone and I don’t have my google authentication to login to yobit account. Unfortunately I kept my private key on the phone too. I sent few messages to yobit but they are not helpful at all. See the reply I always get. Just wondering what’s the best way to get access to my account again.

Dear User!

Support answer:

Good afternoon!
Recently, hackers have been actively engaged in disabling 2fa in order to steal funds, so we no longer perform this operation.
If you installed it yourself, you had to write down the secret code (this is indicated by a red alert on page 2FA:
ATTENTION!On 2fa activation you have to write the secret key and hide it in a safe place to be able to recover!
If you lose access to your 2fa device, we won\'t be able to disable it, and your balance will be lost!).

Yobit support are the only ones that can help you in this case. If you can't recover that backup codes then consider your crypto gone as google authenticator doesn't back them up.

If your account was verified, a good exchange would ask you to re-upload your KYC documents just be sure that no one else is trying to disable 2FA but hey, it yobit we are talking about. A shit exchange with shit customer care service.

In other words they are telling you that they are not willing to help regardless of the situation. It's a painful lesson to learn but;
- Never keep your Backup codes and Private keys in a device which can easily get lost or damaged
- Avoid scam exchanges with poor customer service like yobit
- Use better 2 factor authenticators like  Aegis Authenticator, andOTP, freeOTP

None of us can help you. Only Yobit can do but they have bad reputation about their customer support. I don't want to kill your hope but it is bad if you have to depend on Yobit's customer support as your only hope.

You do double faults.
- Do write down your 2FA recover key.
- Store it online
- Store it on the same device you use to log in your Yobit account.

You must know the 2FA security method is used to protect your account and the 2FA should be installed on your second device. It breaks the original purpose of 2FA when you install 2FA app and log in your account on only one device.

Worse because you connect the 2FA recovery code to online space.

2FA recover key need to be stored safely when you have demand to use it like such case. It is your bad carelessness.

Has Yobit ever made KYC mandatory for its users? if not even if you are willing to provide your identity to recover your account it will not be useful at all, because Yobit cannot verify the documents you provide are correct or not because they do not have documents about you before.
sorry it seems there is no other way for you to get back to your account.

Yobit support is next to NOTHING. I have never heard someone telling me that Yobit support helped them. Also 2FA is not recoverable if you dont have its recovery seed, thats how they work. Never loose your device, only good exchanges provide support in this matter and that too after uploading all the KYC documents as well as a random code provided by the exchange. Its really hard to recover your account and that too from an exchange like Yobit.

It's difficult to advice someone not to lose their device because accidents happen and devices are prone to getting stolen. Also, I think that OP is going to have to move on since we all know how shitty Yobit is.

Your secret key is the most important feature as far as your wallet is concerned. If you have misplaced your secret key I guess there is nothing Yobit can do about it. Writing down your secret key and keeping them where you alone can access them has always been the advice while creating the account. You should just let go of the wallet and create a new account

If you have sent a request through the YoBit customer service, the YoBit team should be able to respond immediately, but if there is no response it's something bad from YoBit. my message is to try car info through the yobit community on social media so that it can help you

Yobit is a shady exchange and, unfortunately, they are the only one that can assist to get this resolved. You just have to keep on disturbing them and move your capital immediately you gain access. I still remember listing of Toilet Paper token that was made as a joke by coinmarketcap as April fool last year.

Is this still related to Yobit? I don't recall anything like that from them (at least not the last time I checked, which was a long time ago).

But it is common for exchanges nowadays to have two different passwords, one for user login and the other for doing withdrawal/trading activity, like Kucoin for example. Maybe it's similar to that if it is indeed about an exchange, not something else.

Where that message came from? did you chat on the chat box and someone message you with that? as for the 2FA/Google Authentication. It also has the backup so if you haven't recorded and written the backup.
It's close to impossible to recover it, you should've done that before when you're about to add 2FA on your yobit account.

Sorry for your loss, but i just seen exchanges like this. I mean gladly i am never lose my 2fa for my Yobit account because same thing could be happened to me or maybe everyone else. Because in other exchanges, as long we give them proof if we're the owner of the account, they will help us to disable our 2fa so we can login.

on that case they are not responsible on your loss , wherein they're out of it since you are the one who can make your wallet very safe even you lost your phone or something..

I have the same issue everywhere actually and as is the only thing that they can suggest is do a full research on your computer or anywhere where maybe you saved your private information like 2fa and etc and also the message you qouted above, thats the only words i always received when i try to force them to recover my account. So after all i decide to move on..

YOSHIT will never comply rightfully if you are talking of having funds inside their site so consider your funds being Gone forever and just forget what you are looking for.

Yobit had already leave this forum from their banning and surely no one can help you here .

Just Move on and find another good exchange to start with, sorry for your loss.

Yobit has its own 2fa recovery page. https://yobit.net/en/2faoff, have @Op tried it? If they reject your recovery application for reasons of hacker attack, I don't think this page will be of any use anymore. The fact is that people who have lost access, will try to log in with the data they remember several times.

-snip-
and your balance will be lost!).
More questions about "balance will be lost" statements from yobit. What is clear, the user's assets are still stored in their hot wallets.

I think it will not possible,  you can't recover your Yobit Account without any 2fa. We know that Nobody can recover their Account without any 2FA Code.
You said that you lost your 2FA code of your Yobit exchange, and i see that Yobit is not a good Exchange becouse Nobody can reset their Account Password if they foeget their Username. Need username and Registered email for new Password and you lost your 2FA so it is impossible.

I think there should be some other ways to filter hackers requesting for 2fa unlock on behalf of the original users. It's very important to always keep. Your 2fa saved and stored somewhere. I can't joke with it because once installed and you lost access to it it's equal to lost funds. Maybe the support can have a change of mind but that's just the only option to get it removed.

Truth be told, it is best you accept, not forget and learn from this experience, because it next to impossible to recover your account without the 2fa. I used 2fa for my luno account that was tied to my previous phone, the phone fell, the screen smashed beyond repair, i haven't been able to find a replacement for the screen yet. It is over a year now, and i have not been able to get back the access to my account.  I have to wait till whenever i get a replacement for the screen before i can get back in. You better mover on.

With yobit response to this, it stated clearly that they don’t keep a 2fa record on the exchange because of hackers’ attacks, so if a user uses 2fa is the user's responsibility to keep the secret keys.

So practically there is nothing yobit exchange customers support can do in this situation.

Sorry for your losses but YOBIT will never engaged in Helping you taking back your funds.

They Even Stole funds from legit traders so what more from you who mistakenly lose your access to your account , this gives them chance to take your funds without any cases .

Yobit is not saving place if you want to hold your money, I use Yobit only for selling coin and withdraw to my wallet without holding for long term, if your account hacked maybe take longer time how to get back your account without guarantee your money and fund keep safety. But some one have change your 2fa is less hope to get back your fund again.

To make it short. "Thank you and please move on."  ;D
That's a shitty way to answer your customer. All the reasons why they don't have much support in this forum.
Almost every member calls them a shit exchange and they are even listing shitty tokens that make victims of new users.

You should've realized something here.
Go with the trusted exchange. Decentralized or not, it doesn't matter as long as their roots are already built. These are good lessons for growing in the crypto industry.

Such a ignorant for exchange site. This is my first time to heard an exchange can't help to reset or remove 2FA if our 2FA device is lost or broken. Hopefully you don't have any balance or huge balance on Yobit exchange, OP
