Title: Do you think Laszlo Hanyecz will show up to receive the 10,000 bitcoin?
Post by: Jenny0808 on April 27, 2021, 09:30:42 AM
Just saw this event (https://twitter.com/Phemex_official/status/1385617162249797632) held by Phemex on Twitter. To celebrate Pizza Day and thank Laszlo Hanyecz for his contribution to the development of bitcoin, Phemex will offer him another chance to spend the 10,000 BTC he used back on that fateful day. 🍕 I'm curious to see if he'll show up and take the money… 😬

By the way, we can also share a prize pool of $10,000 USD worth of BTC if we help them spread the word! Check out the details here >> https://phemex.com/announcements/where-is-bitcoin-pizza-guy

As far as I can remember, Laszlo Hanyecz he said publicly that he has no regrets purchasing pizza with 10,000 bitcoin back then, 10 Years After Laszlo Hanyecz Bought Pizza With 10K Bitcoin, He Has No Regrets. (https://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-pizza-10-years-laszlo-hanyecz)

He might show up to celebrate the Pizza day, but I doubt that he has the intention and take that 10,000 BTC. He is worth more than that, he has push bitcoin with that famous transaction back in the day, he had made history already.

Just saw this event [~snip~] held by Phemex on Twitter. To celebrate Pizza Day and thank Laszlo Hanyecz for his contribution

The event is pure commercial. They don't expect Laszlo show up, they just found "a reason" to try to gather a little bit more publicity/awareness on their business and that's all.
And since you made an account just for telling us all this, I suspect that you are actually affiliated with Phemex.

So, the exchange is giving him the opportunity to spend another 10,000 BTC, LMAO!!

We’d like to offer him another chance to spend 10,000 BTC, but this time it would be deposited into our Earn Crypto service for 1 day.

This must be a joke because is not an opportunity for Laszlo to win, is an opportunity for Phemex to run in an exit scam with their pockets full of BTC.

Your topic title is wrong because they are trying to find him so he can send them 10,000 bitcoin and receive some 10% apy interest from their centralized earn service.
This is just a cheap marketing trick from Phemex and I don't know why would they think that Laszlo Hanyecz has 10,000 more bitcoins ready for spending in something like this.
He would need to pass kyc verification and trust Phemex for keeping his coins and I don't think he is so crazy enough to do that.

However much he earns in that one-day period, is entirely for him to keep. At current prices, keeping that amount in our Flexible Savings Account for just one day would equate to 107,397.26 USDT in interest!

Are just bitcoin people terminally dumb?

Do people actually deposit their cash in strangers accounts, hoping for an ROI?

Sounds like a Madoff Ponzi

Whoops, remember that deposit, last night we got robbed, sorry your btc are gone :(

Why are there so many dumb suckers associated with BTC? I know its mostly criminals, but the idiots make it too easy for the criminals.

Deposit with me, I'll pay you 15% on your idle bitcoin, then when you 'exit' I'l charge you only 50% off our normal service fee, transfer fee, and exit fee, and maintenance fees.

Like they say if you don't have the key you don't own, u transfer to another party, there is NO
compulsion for them ever to return your funds.

If its too good to be true, its not true, but BTC people don't know that; because by definition they believe in miracles & unicorns.

Who's providing the 10,000 BTC? Are Phemex depositing it in an account on Laszlo's behalf? Or are they saying "Give us $600 million and we'll give you back $600.1 million"? And their earning accounts only accept Tether? So he would have to change 10,000 BTC in 600 million of a centralized, insolvent stablecoin, take the risk of it being frozen by Tether, take the risk of it being frozen by Phemex, pay the exchange fee, pay the exchange fee back to bitcoin again, and eat any price fluctuation. All that for 0.017% interest. Haha, no chance. What a cheap marketing gimmick.

A quick web search for "Jenny" and "Phemex" turned up this LinkedIn profile as the first result:

People are dumb. Ponzis and other scams existed long before bitcoin ever did.

I don't refuse what Laszlo contributed for the bitcoin community and the crypto community. He gave Bitcoin the first adoption as a mean of exchange (Bitcoin for Pizza) and makes Bitcoin more known by society.

Although his contribution is big and should be recorded in Bitcoin history and recall every year in Bitcoin Pizza Day, I believe if he had not spent 10,000 BTC to buy 2 pizzas, someone else would have done something similar. 10,000 BTC or 5,000 BTC for something else. The history is recorded and Laszlo is the first pioneer to use Bitcoin as payment method for real thing (pizza)

I read a story of Gavin Andersen who bought lot of Bitcoin, contributed with codes, run generous Bitcoin faucets. He said he does not regret about his Bitcoin faucet. I agree, we can not live with the past.

Topic title is blatantly wrong (both here and on Reddit) as has already been mentioned, and is deceptive with regards to the content of the site’s promotion (no need to go into further details …).

As per Laszlo’s words, he spent almost everything he mined (interesting GPU mining story here too):

At least this lead to Lazlo’s post, which was worth a read.
