Title: Electrum wallet fees (SOLVED)
Post by: Moha1080 on April 28, 2021, 07:46:33 PM
Hello to all,

Sorry I don't speak English very well.

I have 136 euro on my electrum wallet, when I want to send my bitcoin to another wallet, it tells me insufficient funds, when I click on MAX its displays 54 euro.

Is it possible that I have to pay 82 euro in fees?  ???
and also I don't have the slider to change the charges.

would anyone have a solution please?

That is very odd due to the fact that mempool.space (https://mempool.space/) shows that a high priority fee (atm) would be around 140vBytes (Around 10 € +-).
You can try to adjust the slider in order to see what fee you are considering. Please go to Tools > Preferences > Fees tab > Edit fees manually so that you can get the slider to appear.

Let us know if that helps!

Fees are high right now, but it is hard to say what is happening without more information.

My guess is that you have received your bitcoins in many small payments. For a very rough estimate of the fees, go to the Coins tab in Electrum (you may need to enable it) and count the number of rows. Each row costs about $10 to send right now.

You can potentially reduce your fees by temporarily freezing any row with a small value. You might want to prevent the wallet from using them because they can cost more to send than they are worth.

While you are at it, permanently freeze any row with a value of 0.00000547 BTC (547 satoshis). You never want to send those because they are tracking you (and because they cost more to send than they are worth).

Even when activating (edit fees manually) I don't have the slider to modify the fees  :(

Yesss indeed I have 5 transactions, how can I freeze the 3 transactions of less than $10 to send the other 2 transactions to another wallet?

I managed to freeze the 3 small transactions, currently on €116 I have €49 fee which is very high, you have a solution to display the slider to reduce the fees?

and also I don't have the slider to change the charges.

After clicked pay, go to advanced

then set your target fee in box

to be sure to check/tick replace by fee feature also.

My guess is that you are using a 2FA wallet!
In the tiltle bar, does it say "wallet-name [2FA]"? If it does then this may explain why you're requested to pay such high fee.

2FA wallets charge an extra 0.00125 btc (~55€) for each 100 transactions. You can disable it by restoring your wallet from seed.

I concur... given there are only 5 UTXOs... it doesn't seem like a (transaction size * high fee rate) == HUGE total fee issue... it sounds more like a 2FA wallet trying to add in the "prepay" transaction output.

If Electrum says [2fa] in the titlebar next to the wallet name... then you need to read this: https://api.trustedcoin.com/#/faq#fees

If you are not willing to pay for these fees, you have 2 options:

1. click the Blue Shield in the bottom right corner and select the "prepay 20" option... that will only require 0.0005 BTC instead of 0.00125 BTC to buy 20 credits instead of 100.

or

2. Restore your wallet from your 12 word seed phrase and select "DISABLE" when prompted to "keep or disable" 2FA functionality. This will put 2 of the 3 sets of private keys into your restored wallet which will enable you to send without using the 2FA functionality and means you won't have to pay the 2FA service fees.

I have the same problem, but I can't fix it yet.
Any value I want to send says there are insufficient funds. But, I tried with the value 0 and that counts it as 0.0005 BTC and allows me to do the shipping process. Please help.

With that amount for a 0BTC transaction, it's obvious that your wallet is also 2fa and you haven't paid their 2fa prepaid fee yet.
The 0.0005 BTC is for the 2fa service fee for your next 20 transactions, info: https://trustedcoin.com/#/faq#fees (https://trustedcoin.com/#/faq#fees)

If you wish to opt-out from using 2fa, just restore your wallet using your seed phrase through these options:
New/Restore->type a new name->Wallet with two-factor authentication->I already have a seed->paste the seed->disable.
And if it's disabled, you may as well switch to standard wallet for lower transaction fees.
