Title: BitCloak mixer is gone ?
Post by: LeGaulois on April 29, 2021, 05:51:00 PM
Does anyone know what's going on with Bitcloak?

The website has been offline for a few days now. No matter if it's via bitcloak.ru or bitcloak43blmhmn.com. The same goes for the TOR version bitcloak43blmhmn.onion.

However, when I ping their server I get a positive result

Code:
ÉTAPE	TEMPS	NOM DE L'HÔTE	ADRESSE IP
0        <1 ms v168.ce08.ams-01.nl.leaseweb.net 95.211.176.253
1       <1 ms ae-18.br01.ams-01.nl.leaseweb.net 81.17.33.106
2         1 ms be-101.bb03.ams-01.leaseweb.net 31.31.38.76
3         1 ms ams-equ-cr2.be8-1654.rascom.as20764.net 80.64.101.234
4               * Request timed out.
5         46 ms 80.64.102.36.rascom.as20764.net 80.64.102.36
6         42 ms unspecified.mtw.ru 93.95.100.142

Almost the same result using different locations to ping

I have no idea what's going on because I haven't heard any announcements here or there, but I'd be a bit puzzled to see it vanish like that. It's worth noting that bitcloak is not a young site and has been operating for ~5 years

The ping/traceroute doesn't necessarily mean that bitcloak still has a server at the IP address, it means there is a server at the IP address.

Running a bitcoin mixer is a risky business. There are people on their thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1372290.msg56829995#msg56829995) complaining about not receiving a transaction. My guess is they are no longer in business. This could be because they got hacked, some government (maybe Russia) shut them down, or they decided it isn't worth the risk of continuing to run their business.

I never used Bitcloak website and I didn't heard any news about them but they are probably under attack from all sides if they are mixing coins.
If their tor version website is down like it is that probably means they shut it down from their side.

For sure its down and there are already some complaints that funds hadnt been credited out. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1372290.200

Accessing the website links is no good, theyre all down and there were no announcements been said or published.

There's no way on reaching them out and there forum account isnt active anymore. Smells some exit scam?

I did a couple of searches, there really wasn't any information about it, it seem to be unactive on social media platforms for a long time. I've known it since 2016, I even remember their Twitter addresses. Tried visiting their twitter page, and the last active is in 2018, they really disappeared, lol

That site is a pretty obscure one to be honest, operating for years and doesn't have any active social media presence is a red flag for me, I did check the site and unfortunately it displays an error, maybe it is the country that is the problem.

Did you read OP? Here, we do not discuss its popularity or prestige. LeGaulois is asking if anyone knows any information about its disappearance do you need to repeat? We are not talking about it's credibility or how you feel about it, do not post without reading, please!
