Title: Zepher - 900 days since last active. Q: What was he like?
Post by: Chivas Regal on May 04, 2021, 08:29:48 AM
I have a question:

What was Zepher like?

I've seen other threads in the reputation section pining for other members who have fallen by the wayside in more recent times and have seen references to Zepher in people's signatures.  So, I thought I'd ask and see if anyone can share any anecdotes they have?  I'm not necessarily asking who he was, but rather, I see he was last active 900 days ago and was Legendary well before he went off line.

Feel free to pull up a bar stool and share your stories.

If you really want to find out what was he like, just go through his post history and make your own opinion about him. Why do you need other people opinion about him? First - they will say only positive about him, because people either talk positive about person that has passed away, or dont talk about him at all. Second - their opinion and reputation might influence on creating your own opinion about him.

So, I thought I'd ask and see if anyone can share any anecdotes they have?

Google is full of anecdotes.

I meant no disrespect and yes, I have read back through some of his many posts.  Very few people have been eulogized here in the Forum which means they made their mark upon this place.  I just thought it'd be good to hear about someone that is fondly missed and try in a little way to get to know that person a little better.

I didn't know him well at all, but he was enough of a bitcointalk personality that I instantly recognized his username when it was reported that he died.  He was active mostly in the Collectibles section which I rarely visit; I was happy to get a set of memorial copper coins from minerjones, as did a lot of other members, and I've kept them stored away ever since.  I've been meaning to buy some coin capsules for them, as they're about the size of a nickel, but I keep forgetting.

By all accounts, he was a good guy--as evidenced by how greatly he's missed.  That should give at least a little hint as to what he was like.

I hope that this thread made you finally buy those coin capsules that you were talking about.

I didn't know the dude but the fact that there are some collectibles with his/her name on it, I think that @Zepher is one hell of a cool dude.

Z was one of my closest friends in real life, even though we first met over the internet.  I and some others had the pleasure to spend time at Coinfest UK 2018 with him, and he was an amazing person that touched a lot of lives, and will not be forgotten by those who ever interacted with him. :)

I could tell many stories, but honestly, you can probably find most of what you are looking for here:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5114042.0

Thanks

Unfortunately, I never interacted with him personally. But he left significant mark in Bitcointalk history, especially in Collectibles board. I'm not frequent visitor there, so I can't describe him as person in detail. But if you'll check his memorial thread or his trust page, you'll see that he was great man and Bitcointalk community will never forget him.
