Title: Small problem when verifying signature
Post by: Sumarokov on May 07, 2021, 09:48:50 AM
I am in the process of upgrading to the latest version of Electrum using Windows, Installer version.

Clicked on the link in my wallet and it took me to the site (opened up a Microsoft browser window, though I generally use Chrome).

Downloaded the new Installer version, which seems to have correctly substituted itself for the old one.

Now I want to verify the signature. But when I click on "signature" on the web page, it just takes me to a new browser page:

https://download.electrum.org/4.1.2/electrum-4.1.2-setup.exe.asc

Which has BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE ---- all the code -- END PGP SIGNATURE

But how do I save this so that I can verify it on Kleopatra? Left click just opens the browser window, right click does not let me download it....

This seems like a stupid question, but how do I save this file (signature) in downloads? When I try to use "save as", it will only let me save it as a text file.

Your guess is correct, just right-click on the link and save the .asc file locally... Then use whatever tool you have installed to verify the signature.
If you have more questions: you can search the forum, and if you don't find the answer: don't hesitate to ask them here :)

Thanks, it has now worked.

I am not sure what was happening before. But I saved it as an "asc" file and now it has verified it as a valid signature.

When clicking 'Save as', leave the file name by default, then in the format type select 'All Files' (not 'Text File').
Maybe you want to re-verify it with the signature file that saves in the way above.
