Title: BCH not displaying post seed recovery electron cash
Post by: getseriousaboutcrypto on May 12, 2021, 01:44:54 PM
I purchased a Ledger Nano (I believe S) in 2018 and stored some BCH on it. Unfortunately, my Ledger Nano screen broke and I'm unable to access it. To solve this I used my seed phrase to recover my wallet to Electron Cash. However, Electron Cash is displaying my BCH balance as 0. Any possible solutions would be greatly appreciated.  Smiley

PS. I know the BCH is still there as I used a blockchain explorer to look up my public address and it shows the coins were transferred in and never transferred out

Ledger nano has a different derivation path so if you imported the seed from ledger to Electron cash directly then it won't show any balances.

You should find the right derivation path of the BCH wallet from Ledger nano.

I can't seem to find any solution other than repairing your broken Ledger nano or buy a new one to recover your old BCH wallet.

I suggest you move this thread here Hardware wallets (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=261.0)
And maybe someone knows what is the right derivation path of your Ledger nano BCH wallet.

getseriousaboutcrypto, if something hasn't changed since 2017, try the following derivation path for BCH in ElectronCash.

Code:
m/44'/145'/0'/

So you have to make a new wallet again, and in the part when you get the option to choose the derivation path, copy the one I listed. As I never take anyone else's credit, you can read more in this post from @HCP (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2464973.msg25277203#msg25277203).

Just a heads up: you probably also own Forks of Forkcoin BCH. Once you recovered your BCH, don't just move them without enforcing replay protection (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5304496.0), or those Forks of Forks will move too. Depending on how much you have it may or may not be worth selling those too.
