Thanks for the informative index. I cant believe we hit the altseason so soon. I do not have much money right now but I hope I will be able to earn more than 10 times before the alt season end. And as you say, the scamiest projects can give us the most profitable ROI

"What is an Altcoin Season? ... If 75% of the top 50 coins performed better than Bitcoin over the last season (90days) it is Altcoin Season" Wrong. It doeas mean that altcoins performed better than bitcoin during last 90 days. It does not says that we are currently in alt season or alt season will continue. It may end up today, it may end up tomorrow, it is possible that it ended week ago.

Alt year? Alt outperform bitcoin in last 5 months. But it was that strong that it covered previous 7 months of loosing with BTC.

I think the golden rule of buying the top 100/200 still make sense at this moment. I don't see low marketcap coins outperforming those big/mid marketcap coins. Heck, some of them even lost control and start dumping heavily. I don't really like the outlook of the low marketcap coins because most of my bags are them, but hopefully it will change in the second half of this year.

At least I don't buy and hold shitcoins who relies on hype without any product.

The alt season index was under 25.  

Anyway here’s the thing, January to March was good to me but things started to dip a little on April and I never really checked the alt season index again until I made this thread and was surprised it’s at 88.  I mean it’s at 88 but it’s harder to make some gains rn.

This is a really convincing thread that we are indeed in the ALTCOIN season!

Great picks. My bags basically consists on large caps like BTC and BNB. I missed out on eth and haven't been able to get a good entry. It's the same for ADA too. It's been on a steady rise for the past few weeks even peaking at $2+.  Aside from BNB and BTC, I have a small $Dodo stash and some "shitcoins"  plays here and there that I got as recommendations from few of my friends. My money in those shitcoin plays are only small amounts since it has a significant amount of risks. I'm still on the lookout so I've bookmarked this thread.

You spotted that lately but altcoin season had been there already before this thread. If we are averaging out the top 50 coins against btc and see how many of them outperformed btc, then we see that so many of them even did 10x or more which can be possible when alt season was there. The altcoin index is high as btc dominance fell down deep and should recover to even let the alt season keep going.

BNB is indeed wonderful. I am planning to increase my BNB this year because of arising BEP-20 coins. I believe it will compete ETH in the long run. On the other hand, Pancakeswap is a wonderful place to increase BNB.

Maybe this is the formal opening of altcoin season, because now while Bitcoin is continue to drop altcoins are climbing high.

Under latest dump, the worst performing coins were old ERC20s from 2017 which are still active yet, their market cap is very low. So I think I agree with you. Under altcoin season worst altcoins do bigger leaps although miniscule dump in Bitcoin leads them to %50 dumps so quickly. I am gonna stick with top 100-200.

Altcoins rallied in 2020 and 2021 is the year of altcoin. Altcoin season is found in 2021 is a fact. Moreover, I think this season is only going through half of it. The best of this altcoin season has yet to come. If the history repeats, the highest FOMO will be in around the end of 2021 and early of 2022.

I wish good luck to newbies who want to bet with animal tokens and shit coins, shit tokens with too small caps. More safety is from top altcoins and old projects.

Yeah, I always feel safer doing top 100. But I can tell you that tactic definitely failed for 2017 run, speaking of ERC20 tokens. I haven't picked up a single new token now in this rally, as tempting as those defi coins were, I just can't see myself breaking down my ETH or BTC savings to risk them in maybe-gone-tomorrow deficoins:)

Bitcoin big reduction means altcoin season is coming. The dominance of bitcoin on the marketcap also decrease a lot. I just hope that Elon will not make any ridiculous expression so that we can have a normal market

Looks like that’s proven wrong.  Big sell down for Bitcoin means everything starts falling down with it.  There were some crypto whales talking about a decoupling happening during this year’s bull market but no.  Bitcoin is still the main driver of the market.  Wherever it goes, alts follow.

Agree, even with low BTC dominance, its still affect a lot when its drop.
Too many fear when Bitcoin drop create Domino effect to the entire market.

That’s good that you focus on your strategy despite of the market situation, i do hold some altcoins as well for years now and I’m happy to have them on my wallet. Alt season will always come, though we saw a big corrections already but the trend is still here, good altcoins will always stay and its a big challenge for a new project to compete with them and offer good services, always DYOR!

‘Low BTC dominance’ just means there’s some liquidity going from BTC to altcoins, increasing the alts prices.  But it doesn’t really mean there’s some sort of power shift.  BTC still remains the most dominant cryptocurrency.  Check the volume on alt/BTC trading pairs and compare it to alt/ETH.  The minute alt/ETH notciceably starts getting more liquidity:  Beware.

I wish I hadn't been afraid of losing money right now. I'm sure I was buying crypto currency right now. But right now I can't do anything because I'm afraid of losing money. I am fully waiting in cash and I hope I will make new investments at the right time  :-\

Are you one of the victim of those that sold at loss during the dip? This is one of the frustrating effect of selling at loss during the dip period, it's best to take advise to not sell ag loss no matter the loss percentage, holding is the only way of recovering your losses and still make some gains, every dip is an opportunity to enter again and bag more quantity, having said that, do not wait for the right time to buy/invest, every time is the right time to Buy, know that.

Agree, no doubt Bitcoin dominance is really high. But what you mean about alt/ETH getting more liquidity? Isnt that means many ETH would be trade for alt?

this probably the right time mate because bearish season already disappear and now the percentage of red in the market is very low unlike in the last few days..  For me this time seems a good time to accumulate while market is gaining strength in my opinion.. Because for sure once it becomes fully recovered it will rocketed again like what always happen everytime when it feel like a rock..

It could mean an increasing number of people are starting to want to hold and trade ETH for alts.  It could start as something seasonal between BTC and ETH with liquidity, volume and interest could go back and forth between the two...  Before you know it, momentum starts to build for the flippening.

If you can't take risk, you will be never be rich. How the hell you were afraid of losing your money when market crash above 50% and you still afraid? That was the best time to buy and accumulate more coins on your bag. Maybe crypto isn't suit for you, and you can just go to bank and make a deposit on there and enjoy very low % return.

Probably, no one knows dude. Always don't go all in, spare some of your cash and waiting if the price go lower. With that, you won't be miss big opportunity to accumulate more coins. Did you even bought any coins?

Thats not alt season yet. I called it Ethereum season which make ethereum outperformed bitcoin growth and ethereum also eating bitcoin market share. And usualy after that bitcoin will increase after dump. And today we are on accumulation phase before bullish again. Go stake your sats now !!

Liquidity from Bitcoin and ETH is the key for altcoin to rising, but we also need more money minted from USDT (fresh money) too, its will flood and pump the market soon, theres some clue that the funds come from America Covid fund agains.

^  No.  It’s when liquidity from ALT/BTC goes to ALT/ETH and ETH becomes the preferred base currency because it has become more liquid.  It seems far fetched to say a couple of years ago but not so much today.  Be on the look out for that crypto power shift.

I hope what you say is true if there will be an altseason soon, because the market was in a state of correction a few days ago, so if there will be an altseason then of course I will get my profit back and I invest in,

Question for you, have you done any of the defi things yet? Keep seeing people staking and yield farming and they're saying even with the 50% crash they're still in profit. But my thoughts is they're doing all that which is exactly what causes value to crash:)

^ I used to trade more actively back in the day but it took a toll.  The stress, sleepless nights and the constant watching of the screen all day burned me out.  I just hold BTC and XMR mostly and do some trades here and there.

I traded CRV, SNX and SXP but haven’t tried any of their stuff in terms being a liquidity provider or anything.

I didn't really know how it was calculated but this is a good way to calculate it. I personally believe that we could potentially reach to a level where even 90% of the altcoins in top 50 could be higher than bitcoins increase, so it looks like a possible outcome for now.

Altcoin season is not really that much important to me considering when bitcoin is going up, alts go up in dollar value as well, maybe less or maybe more but it does go up, and that is good enough for me, as long as it goes up, I do not ask how much, I just ask how long, because I need it to go up longer than higher, the longer it goes up the more it gets heard and that is what I interested in, adoption, the more it is adopted into our lives the easier it would be to live a full time crypto life and that is my goal is, to have a world where you do not have to use fiat, you can if you want to and most people will, but you can be full time crypto if you want to as well, that is important.
