Title: Nvidia 3060 "Unlocker" for Linux
Post by: jgonzi on May 15, 2021, 01:00:05 PM
It seems some nice movements are comming:

Nvidia 3060 "Unlocker" for Linux only with lolMiner 1.29 . This new mode mode allows to mine at a speed about 3/4 of the maximum speed of this cards.

Differences to popular Windows solution:

- Works with Linux
- Does not fully unlock card, but partially (~3/4 of max performance, +40-45% over locked card)
- Allows using risers
- Allows multiple GPUs in one system
- Not HDMI Dummy or monitor need it
- Needs Nvidia Linux driver between 455.45.01 and 460.39. Other driver versions will run at locked speed.

I have tested in one rig... without not great OC getting +36Mhs at nice low Watts

Great JOB!!

Hashrate RTX 3060 - 41 MH
36.3Mh is a very good result if the video card is connected via a pci-e 1x raiser.
This allows you to mine Ethereum on older motherboards.
Where did you find this news?
Write a link to the source of information. Is your RTX 3060 graphics card connected via a raiser 1x?

I found it directly in the wiki of lolMiner... I'm trying now... only important drivers... you must be between 455.45.01 - 460.39.

I'm able to get nearly 38Mhs with higher OC... but each time I change OC it seems you need to restart the Miner. So now playing :-)

It does... lolMiner has never lie with the Mhs like other miners...

I still have the 1.28 in HiveOS.
How did you update to 1.29?

How did you update to 1.29?

You need first of all Nvidia Drivers 455.45.01 or 460.32 or 460.39 you can put it like in hive shell or run command:
nvidia-driver-update 460.39

Now meanwhile you are running lolMiner 1.28a just run this line:

cd /home/user/ && miner stop && wget https://github.com/Lolliedieb/lolMiner-releases/releases/download/1.29/lolMiner_v1.29_Lin64.tar.gz && tar -xvf lolMiner_v1.29_Lin64.tar.gz && cd 1.29 && cp lolMiner /hive/miners/lolminer/1.28a/ && miner start

That will download lolMiner 1.29, then it will decompress, and overwrite 1.28a and restart the miner. That will let you to have lolMiner 1.29 like I did :-)

Enjoy it!!!

Thanks for the quick reply!  :)
It seems that HiveOS doesn't release updates on the weekend.

I got the information in the Telegram group of HiveOS... in the Off Topic and in lolMiner Telegram too

A friend of mine just tried it on a rig with 3060 and 3070 cards.
The 3070s don't start to mine.
Do you have any idea why?

It is working perfectly for me... now more than 7 Hours in a mix rig too... It will help some photos :-) or ask in the Telegram Group of HiveOS

If that rtx3060 can't do 47MH it's a no, when I saw this topic I instantly rushed in to check it out because I'm waiting for a mod to unlock this card real mining potential but 36MH? That's a disappointment still, not confusing

It is an increase of 50% for Linux user, it works with riser and without HDMI, in my case it is a great increase of income.  It is very difficult to make big rigs with 3060 in Windows or when you get a pair of 3060 just only to have Rig windows for 3060... and it is the first developer that found something... The 470.05 was a mistake of Nvidia and we will not see more mistakes like that I think .

This Nividia 3060 is the one with mining limiter on the driver side or inside the chip?

I heard that the newer revisions of 3070s and 3080s will have the limiter inside the chip. Will this send the prices of regular old versions of 3080 and 3070 skyrocketing?

Any error message from them in the miner log? Usually the 3070 should be supported by the driver. Some appear not to mine, because defect entries in the DAG were recognized ... then the repair kicks in and taking a while to do its job.
I need to improve the fix function further - I guess - to be quicker.

Tried this and it works pretty good.  Hopefully there is room from improvement.

Not sure I've never used this miner and im using HiveOS but maybe delete the stratum+tcp: and i think there is a --port command

yeah

this works:

--coin ETH --pool ethereum.viabtc.com:3333 --user philipma1957xxxxxxx --pass 1 --apihost 127.0.0.1 --apiport 4444

but I am still limited.

what drivers are you using I have 460.56.

Go to “>_ Advanced Options …” in the rig and later select the special distribution with the 460.39 driver.

You can also use the --cclk function of lolMiner to fix the clock from 1400-1600 depending on how much you want Watts consume or Mhs
