Coinbase wallet can connect to Coinbase.com.  But some website doesn't use Coinbase wallet.  Most websites use Meta Mask wallet.  Which one is better Coinbase wallet vs Meta Mask wallet?

Coinbase is a centralized wallet you cannot use a coinbase wallet to connect to other wallets / websites.
Metamask is a decentralized wallet, you have full access to it, you can easily import your wallet to other wallets that support it, such as myetherwallet, trustwallet, safepal, etc., or link it to a specific website.

You need to know the difference of Coinbase exchange, Coinbase Pro and Coinbase wallet.
Coinbase exchange is centralized
Coinbase Pro is also an exchanges and centralized
Coinbase wallet is custodial and not totally centralized, you'll get private key and import to any wallet just like metamask.

AFAIK the advantages of Coinbase wallet doesn't charge any fees if you transfer to Coinbase exchanges, if you use Metamask and transfer to Coinbase exchanges you will be charge additional fees.

So if you didn't use Coinbase as the exchanges you buy and sell your coins, I don't see any reason why you need to use Coinbase wallet. Metamask were better as it's more popular and trustworthy.

IMHO, I believe Metamask is far better and safe compared with Coinbase Wallet, I try using Coinbase wallet a long time ago but now I don't use it anymore I prepared to use a non-custodial wallet so that I have full control of my funds, remember in the saying, not your keys, not your coins as simple as that. Just remember to always use a decentralized non-costudial wallet so that we have a peace of mind.

You can connect coinbase wallet to coinbase.com still you need to make on-chain transaction to move funds between two wallets. WHole meta mask wallet is used by most people for storing connects which connects to the decentralized exchanges. While coinbase don't support tokens or most of them so don't confuse these two wallets which are completely different types.

If you were actively using dapps and metamask is the best choice but in my opinion, if metamask was also offering various advantages like you can connect to the various chain easily with the same address by changing RPC on your metamask wallet.

Coinbase wallet is a good wallet but metamask is far better than coinbase in terms to store your asset.

It depends on your use. Most of the sites and dapps and dex accepts Metamask while there are only a few sites that exclusively supports coinbase. Though that is increasing. In my experience coinbase is easier to use and you can just import onto each other through private keys. So, mostly about what GUI you prefer most of the time.

Coinbase is not too popular while most decentralised exchanges use MetaMask. Been using MetaMask for years aside from convenience I haven’t encountered problem using it. Good thing about MetaMask is you can use it in different chains like Ethereum, Binance smartchain, etc.

mate coinbase and metamask are different works in crypto wallet. coinbase is centralized exchange or wallet and metamask decentralized wallet. it,s you depents if you have much secure fund and care about you,r fund. in metamask you have full access to restore wallet and save private key if pc and laptop has been broken. coinbase have some needed to ensure from the users to make some tasks after that you can perform wallet ans make transaction. but in decentralized you have full access to buy and sell token in few minutes and you have under control you,r wallet

That is correct but please add that you need to do a few tweaks when you want to switch between the chains in order to access your tokens. You can find that by googling Metamask BSC.
Other than that Metamask is a decent choice. Always active development and bug fixing happening and works smoothly.

But does Coinbase have no country restrictions, I remember I wanted to register and go through verification and could not, then I studied and there are a lot of countries that are prohibited. Definitely MetaMask.

As to my knowledge Coinbase does have country restrictions, but I would use Metamask anyway. I think most services that work with decentralized wallets will also have Metamask integrated. It's a good choice that is used by many people and you'll get quick support in case you have questions.

It honestly doesn't make any sense if you still have to pay transaction fees between custodial platforms owned by the same company. Why even bother?

If me, save BTC coinbase wallet with 2fa but honestly i don't know we can back up private key or not. But since use Blockchain wallet or Coinbase wallet, i only save username, password and 2fa. But for ERC20 Tokens usually i use Metamask or maybe Myetherwallet. I think both have their purpose to save different coin.

Coinbase Centralized Wallet. And only a few coins / tokens can be store here. Some websites allow you to connect Coinbase for payment. And Metamask allows us to store all tokens in supported networks. For example, ETH, BSC, HECO, etc. Metamask also allows connect wallet with decentralized exchanges and many websites.  However, you will not be able to use some of the popular coins in Metamask. Like BTC, LTC, DOT, ADA etc.


So, both have different uses and both are helpful.  Personally, my first priority is metamask.

It doesn't matter if they provide the private keys. What matters is whether they hold the private keys which is bad in case of a security breach.

Coinbase wallet isn't a good wallet for you to keep long term with your coins but if you're a trader and you want a fast and easy access to sell it quickly then use it but you don't own your private key.
Thus, in owning a meta mask wallet, you own the private key and you can connect with several dex if you want.

I prefer to use that more decentralized wallet one, so for dekstop wallet i choosed metamask that currently support alot of different tokens from different chain like Ethereum, Binance smart chain, Avalanche, Matic and others. And for mobile wallet I prefer to use Trustwallet which support more different coins include Bitcoin & others high cap altcoin, and also tokens from different chain including Solana blockchain and its SPL/Solana Program Library Tokens.

Coinbase is not good for you if you are not ready to do KYC. Metamask is better for your if you don't want to submit your identity documents. I don't judge because of that, Metamask can protect your privacy. At least you don't have to leak your identity document with Metamask or any third party company that works with Metamask.

The extension can trace your trading history and so on but it is another problem that is different than official KYC requirement.

I prefer metamask, with coinbase you probably gonna encounter a lot of problem not to mention defis in general uses metamask to connect to your wallet you basically get shit ton of features compared to using coinbase which tbh only good for sending money and nothing more.
though with coinbase you can also get a lot of features as well that gets offered from coinbase itself such as coinbase vault or even insuring of your money so it's definitely up to you to choose which one suits you more since you don't mention the specific of your usage.

I used coinbase.com last four years and it is very safe and secure for me. On the otherhand, Meta Mask wallet is also good and it is connected some websites which is very helpful for investmentor and trader. Without connected few websites in Meta Musk Wallet, I think, Coinbase wallet is better than Meta Mask wallet

I have Coinbase.com account.  It is very easy to transfer coin from Coinbase to Coinbase wallet.  Today Coinbase wallet has the Google extension for Google Chrome browser.

The metamask wallet is under constant development and improvement and it perfectly integrates with essentially all important exchange applications out there. I would go with Metamask as it wills tay like that. There is a team behind it and it is also open source so no danger for back doors.

I think the Metamask Wallet is better than the Coinbase wallet, because the Metamask wallet is multi-functional for all networks making it easier to use.

That's not the only red flag that coinbase wallet have, you have no control over your funds using coinbase wallet because when you open a wallet with coinbase users aren't given their private keys or recovery seed, assuming coinbase goes out of business today all your coins are gone

Coinbase is a centralised crypto wallet and exchange so it's a bad idea storing your coins on such wallet, meta mask is more safer because you have control over your private key but you still need to be careful when using metamask because of hackers and phishing websites out there, make sure you only link your metamask with genuine websites or you will lose your coins

I think later according to the development of coinbase will also be able to do that.
metamask is already getting a lot of users. even now there are also binance wallets that support the BEP-2, BEP-20, and ERC networks.

Metamask wins over coinbase wallet marginally

1. Metamask is decentralized
2. You have full access to your private keys
3. You can easily import to other wallet like trust wallet
4. BSC chain and other can be add manually
5. Gas fee can be adjust manually

MetaMask - I'm so used to it that I can't use others either. Although today I still started using the  Trust Wallet. All the same, it is convenient to work with the entire market from one application.

My very first wallet is metamask. And it is still the most demanded. As for me, this is the best wallet I've ever used. All functions are well understood and easy to use. Undoubtedly Metamask.

It is because most of the decentralized exchanges require metamask wallet. While Coinbase wallet is only used for its own platform, Coinbase. That's why the adoption rate and demand for Metamask is higher because it's decentralized and can be found and used in almost every dex that you can use. Matemask is better than coinbase wallet but metamask is dangerous for newbies itself, make sure you connect your wallet to a real website or risk exposing your recovery seed to hackers

Centralized wallet is a big no no, only exchange wallets are an exception even they're centralized wallet since that's where trading took place. And everyone knows not to use exchange wallet as your personal wallet anyway. So if you plan to have a personal wallet, use Meta Mask wallet.

Coinbase is centralised and many people living in the US find it convenient to use because they are able to purchase BTC straight from their bank account to coinbase but little do they know that using coinbase wallet expose them to some risks like not having their own key which is 100% a red flag

MetaMask is easier to use and has multiple functions that really help our movement as a cryptocurrency user or a holder. MetaMask is very light to use and can also be opened across platforms.
For now I'm more dominant using the services of the Binance Smart Chain network, so the presence of MetaMask really helps me as well as when using the Ethereum network.

if you are a loyal coinbase user, then you should use a coinbase wallet,
but in general it is better to use metamask, because many DEX exchanges also use metamask to connect to it,

for myself I really rarely use coinbase wallet because it has few things that i need, but metamask is different you can customize everything on it and use it very easily.

both are the same, of course there are advantages and disadvantages of each, I can't give an assessment which one is better because I have both.

Obviously, even metamask can run several different networks on one application by adding only the RPC we want, so obviously in this case metamask is very liked by many people including me personally.

I think these are two different wallets. MetaMask only works for the Ethereum and BSC blockchains, while Coinbase works for several other blockchains. If you ask which one is the best, of course which wallet suits you.

In my opinion, I prefer Metamask wallet for the use of trading activities on decentralized exchanges on various available chains such as Ethereum, Binance Smart Chain (BSC) or Huobi ECO Chain (HECO). Thats because the use of a metamask wallet is more universal, but for security we must keep it our private key. And for Coinbase, I prefer to use it for storage my investment token or coin, that's because Coinbase wallets and exchanges are centralized, maybe it will be more secure because of the security system managed by Coinbase. So in conclusion, we must have both types of wallets as a storage place for investment coins or coins that we will trade on a decentralized exchange or centralized exchange.

Metamask of course, i think nowadays is trend of tokens. Metamask is fit for it especially if we want to mobile, we can use it too. For big coins, if me i prefer to save in my local exchange. Because if want to trade then i don't need to make deposit again and maybe less fees. But 2fa will always importang.

IMHO Metamask much better implementation on some dApps especially DeFi, NFT, etc and it was more decentralized rather than Coinbase wallet, The only Metamask disadvantages is can be easily exploited on public network and you can lose your fund, It's much better with full Decentralized wallet but if you are actively opening your crypto wallet through public Network maybe Coinbase wallet is much better, Your choice mate. I personally never open My crypto wallet through public network so i choose Metamask, Much easier too use with wider Integration.

There are 2 kinds of wallet in the market one is centralized one where you can keep your fund but you don't have full access of your wallet. Like you don't have the private key to operate Your Wallet. In most of the cases You can't connect centralized wallet to any  dapps so farm. Conbase wallet is the centralize one. But it has some positive sites to. you can use it through your Gmail or phone number. And it's very easy to use. In other hand decentralised wallets are where you have te full authority of your wallet. But you have to keep you private key to safe otherwise you could easily lost your fund.

I only use Metamask wallet in conjunction with a hardware wallet for security.

It could be otherwise if someone is not technically literate and prefers a secure and reliable company that provides a wallet service. The risk to make a mistake is lower and when it comes to hacking it depends how it happened. Under the right circumstances you can hold the company reliable.

They are two different wallet with a different purposes, most of the projects allows you to connect Metamask whiles coinbase is not, and seriously you don’t need to choose between this two because you can easily have your wallet especially on Metamask. In my case, I always use my metamask to swap tokens.

please go for metamask wallet for your own sake of loosing your funds. Coinbase wallet is like a third party wallet and you are not in control of the wallet. it is been controlled by coinbase. if you mistakenly send something to another coinbase contract account. forget it. you will never get the funds back. better use metamask and save your self the heartbreak of loosing your funds.

Coinbase wallet and Metamask wallet are both popular, but I have the same reason as you that because many projects need Metamask address,
so I also prefer to use Metamask than Coinbase. Especially after I read the post in this thread, most members prefer to use Metamask. Another
reason may be because there is an issue that says Coinbase is involved in the misuse of its users personal data, scares me using Coinbase wallet.

Am pretty sure that the number of metamask users surpass coinbase users and obviously metamask is the most popular chrome plugin for crypto wallet I think some mobile users do use coinbase wallet but later switch to metamask as is more efficient to me

Thats 2 difference comparison the first one (coinbase) are centralized wallet " only 1 company able to manage it their wallet under their tos" and the other one is decentralized ( meta mask ) you had full access of your wallet. and also as purpose of service its kindda difference . while coimbase most used for fiat exchange and meta mask for storing asset.

I have used metamask wallet so many times and it has so many features, with metamask you can add your network nodes to enable your project works smoothly, metamask is one of the oldest decentralized wallet with tight security Standard, on the other hand, coinbase is centralised and are mainly used on a centralised platform like that on NFTs platform like rarible, foundation, and many centralized marketplace.
If you are considering trading in Dex exchange use metamask, but for centralized site, use coinbase wallet.
