Title: I lost money on the market drop. What should I do?
Post by: 15262kk on May 26, 2021, 11:15:17 AM
I lost a big sum of money because of bitcoin fall. What can I invest in to avoid risks like that? Or at least to bear lower risks?

Why did you lose big money with this fall?

If you did not panic sell, you did not lose your money. Bitcoin rallies very well after that drop.

If you did lose your money because of margin calls and liquidations, it is your responsibility. The crypto market is not for gamblers and when you use leverage, you are one of gamblers.

The fall and liquidation are for whales to get rid of gamblers on the market. They can not move the price up and give gamblers chance to dump their Bitcoin to take profit.

If you did use leverage and ended with loss, it is time to think hundred of time and stop using leverage in the future. Till the day you can be a millionaire from crypto market, don't use leverage.

You lost? have you sold the coins already? because if not then you are still not losing anything but just the value.

Keep the risk market is developing now , it almost breaking 40k now so in the soonest time it will come back to 50k so keep it mate and chill.

Doesn't make sense, did you sell? If you don't then you are not in a loss, maybe your portfolio goes down though. The best thing to do is to just keep calm, bitcoin today seems to be in the recovery mode so it's better to just hold on it. Or if you are here for the long term, better buy in this dip.

I can't advise what coins you can invest with lower risk, crypto market is very volatile and there is no low risk high reward ratio here.

Invest in USDT/USDC. That way you won't lose anything regarding market changes.
Downside is you won't gain anything also, but hey. No loss is better than some loss, right?

Right, if you did not sell it then no need to worry about losing your money. It is only the value that change, but you can still hold it until the value will return to the amount you wanted or going higher and higher. What matters is your trust and awareness in every changes of price in the market.

There are great opportunities for daily business transactions in the market right now. It is very easy to catch coins that will bring 50% profit in a day. The most important thing here is to be in the right timing. I think we should make good use of this scattered state of the market  :-\

If you just seeking some stable investment that's not gonna make you losing any money then maybe the best investment for you is just to stake stablecoin and wait until it somehow make your money grow and let you recover your loss.
If you are asking which altcoin gonna bring you enormous profit it recover your lost instantly then no one know. tbh, there's also yield farming that could gives big return but the volatility is what stopping most of people, maybe you can try that way but remember it has the risk of making you lose your money due to volatility.

Did you sold your coins, or are you saying that the portfolio is down in terms of fiat? If it is the first case, then you can only blame yourself. There are hundreds of threads here in this forum, warning the users not to indulge in panic selling. If you sold your coins despite all these warnings, then there is hardly anything we could do about it. If it is the second case, then there is no need to get rattled. We'll be back to the previous levels in a month or two, and the basics are still strong. Just need to sit tight.

This was the wrong decision, but such errors are inherent in beginners who are afraid of the dump. For you, there is no other option but to analyze your mistake and re-top up your balance, start over. This market will still give you a chance to get back what you lost while following your trading strategy.

The coin which has the lowest risk is Bitcoin. So if you are looking for a coin on that basis alone, then look no further as Bitcoin is the safest coin you can invest in. But if you are going to add some altcoins which have also lower risks then don't look for low market cap, unpopular, and potentially promising coins. Just go for those that have already made a name in crypto through all these years. Ethereum (ETH) is a good choice.

It's a wrong timing and a bad decision my friend. You have to be more patient in holding gems however you have to move on from what happened on your first trading and serve it as a learning process for that is how risky dealing with market correction. Just buy again during the dip and chose the coin that is strong and profitable in future.

you have to be realistic in the long term, be patient to avoid losses. but if you're willing to stop loss then looking for your luck in altcoins can be one way out and it's not something too bad

The question is did you cut to lose your investment? if you were doing it and then you have been losing your money but if you have not cut loss your investment and then you lose nothing dude. Just hodl your asset until the price will recover again.
The crypto market is very fluctuating at this moment.
You can try to invest in the major coin but remember that if volatility can't be avoided. You must have dealt with the risk in the market.
So many people have been facing the same thing as you and you are not one who has been losing due to the bearish trend., I have been losing my money as well.

Bitcoin is still trading at sub-40K levels and you should not waste much time and buy back your coins (probably at a loss). I don't know which coins you were holding, but the alts went down on average by 40%-50% and that means that you will incur a higher loss if you buy them back. Anyway, don't get disheartened. Take this as a lesson. During my initial days (in 2012), I also did several mistakes with my coins. It's all part of life and I hope you will be in profit very soon. BTW, there is no point in regretting about past mistakes.. treat them as valuable lessons.

Dollar cost average during drops. It's the best thing you can do, but only invest koney you can afford to lose... if you can't afford to lose that money, just don't invest!

Bitcoin is VERY risky. Especially for newbies or emotionally-driven traders.

what you can do is if you hold BITCOIN you should hold it because the decline in BITCOIN will definitely occur towards the end of the year and will come back again at the beginning of the year, it is better if you hold it, don't let it go too quickly, and if you have more of your funds can invest in other altcoins, look for the 10 to 20 best from the coinmarketplace. may be useful.

to be honest you are brave enough for a beginner to put in your big bucks when the market is at its peak. and that's the risk, I'm sure you already know before you put your money.
If you are already CL, I think you can put your money in altcoins with a short-term asset estimate. I also used to do it for day trading. loss with one asset so I will move the money in another asset and look for other fortunes.

IMO, I think if you are not sold your holdings yet you will not lose any at the moment because there was always a chance that bitcoin might be going up again in a short period of time who knows just remember that we are here in the crypto industry and anything can happen over time, only the value in US$ was demised but as long as the Bitcoin was still intact in your wallet I believe you have always a chance to recover. just believe mate.

Don't put up all your eggs in one basket and never invest what you couldn't afford to lose,
I think it is all that we need to do in order to lessen the risk,
Try to recover those money by trading again and learn from your mistake.
Spread out your investment don't just rely on Bitcoin you should try to have more crypto so if it sinks down there is a chance that your other asset could save you up.

Never to invest without proper knowledge about the investment that you are entering, most of the time people
who enter this market without knowing what are the risk behind are those who lost their money,

The chance that they are going to buy when fomos are there and sell when fuds are dominating the market.

And then, it's best to split your money while you are inside this market, take time to search for good projects that
will allow you to recover your losses.

When a correction occurs the major item is a decrease in the estimated value of our profit, now what should we do to maintain and find other fresh funds to increase the amount of profit value (if there is still any) and correction is normal condition.

For the selection of coins/tokens, you can look for coins or tokens that have strong and fast rebound also fundamentalists, such as BNB. Besides having many users and having several excellent features, support from the CEO is also when certain moments make BNB have its own positive value in the user's eyes.

The big question here is what coin did you bought with your money, if you ride on the shitcoins then it will be the end of it, but if you bought coins let's say the top 20 coins, my suggestion is not to sell it, it will recover, keeping your coin is what you need to do, and wait for the reversal trend up, most people sold their token if the price drop, I think this is applicable to shitcoins, but those who have a use case, there is a high chance that if your coin goes down, it will rally back.

It's all just a matter of time, all cryptocurrency prices will experience price increases beyond the ATH that was just reached yesterday. We all don't need to panic in welcoming this bloody moment, stay relaxed.

Has this incident happened before? Of course, yes. We people have experienced something similar and it all started in China.
In 2017, China did ban ICOs  (https://www.bbc.com/news/business-41157249)we all know that ICO moment was the most profitable investment at that time before many scammers came along.

And now, China is carrying out a ban on several cryptocurrency powers (https://www.reuters.com/technology/chinese-financial-payment-bodies-barred-cryptocurrency-business-2021-05-18/) which of course makes everyone sell their respective Crypto assets out of panic.

I guess you buy bitcoin or altcoin at a high price, so now you lose that value money. If you don't have more money, you don't have to sell the coin, but you need to hold for more because the market will recover soon. So when the market recovers and increases the higher pass of your bought price, your valuable investment will increase and profit. This time, you need more patience because we don't know when the price can increase.

If you have more money, you can buy back Bitcoin at the current price because it is at a low price and good to buy. Or you can wait for a while to see what will happen to bitcoin so you can decide later.

You did not lose it, the only loss is when you decide to sell. If you did, you should learn that the cryptocurrency market is volatile, and you must be confident that the price will return to that top again, but the question is when?
There is nothing safe, so if you want zero fluctuations then use stable currencies, but then you will not achieve profits.
As for some safe strategies, they are DAC where you buy a certain amount of Bitcoin whenever you have a surplus of money at a fixed time and for long periods.

there is nothing you have to do, you just have to HOLD until your money is back,
or you can buy back the coins you have, indeed so far the price of Bitcoin is still down 40% from ATH and many Altcoins have not recovered,
be wise to trade, don't let you hit fomo, and stay careful, of course dont greedy!

- When shitcoins fall into a bearish process, the counter-trend is extremely weak and most of the time, they won't have a strong or rigid resistance level, the players are very weak and shy here and a stop loss action should be the solution, Shiba coin is a similar form and many people's accounts have been transformed and disfigured with this shitcoin investment plan. Altcoin top has many choices with different solutions, wait for a reversal as you say or combine buying more to create average prices, very soon our money will turn positive

We won't get the real taste of cryptocurrency until you fall in the big dip. Running dip is very compared to the next pump. If you can afford more money to invest, I will suggest doing that because a low price isn't available all the time. But if your research isn't better than holding what you have, fix your sell target and don't panic sell. Can share a good plan if you share your token name.

Do you own bitcoin? If yes have you alrady sold your bitcoin? If no then i would just hodl them because you have only lost your money if you sell them. Just hodl them until they are above the price range where you bought them. This will be the case sooner or later. I hope you don't need to sell because you need the money, but this would be also your fault because you should only invest money into cryptos that you can afford to lose because the crypto market is so unstable. If you own a lot of those meme coins though that came up withing the last weeks and months then i don't have much hope that you will get your money back because most of those projects are already dying.

Right, but these type of investors won't hold their crypto who become afraid of FUD. If ‘OP’ has sold his btc in loss then he should buy again with a plan of long term holding. It's not late yet to enter again. Every crypto price is volatile and people suggests to invest in bitcoin as a safe place. In order to reduce the risk, OP shouldn't invest all of his money at a single time. Invest your money in part by part at different price point. Also avoid being panicked.

Just keep buying during the dip price and don't panic every time you see a big drop, its part of the market trend and in cryptocurrency everything is risky. If you sell already at a big loss, that's fine because you can't revert it anymore and all you have to do is to learn from that experience. Go for the top choice always and if you are still holding with Bitcoin much better, good coins always have a lower risk in long term, you just need to know when to buy those good coins.

If you sold your cryptocurrency to yourself in the red, then you do not believe in it, and why invest in what you do not believe. I keep 85% of my money in bitcoins and the other 15% in altcoins. I believe that by the end of 2021, bitcoin will cost $ 100,000, and all altcoins will also rise in price. That's why I don't sell but buy more ..

That is where you got it wrong, you did not lost money because bitcoin went down in price, you lost money because of your own decisions, now you are looking for an asset to invest in which there is no risk, let me tell you that such a thing does not exist and you are never going to find it.

Now if you want to lower your risk this can be done but it has to do with the portion of the capital that you use on each trade, the solution is simple reduce the amount of capital that you use on your trades and in the case you happen to lose you will lose less money, it is quite simple and yet this is not something many people like to do as this reduces their profits as well.

I would love to tell OP that he didn't lose money because bitcoin went down, technically nobody lost money because bitcoin went down, you lose money because you sell when it goes down, if you do not sell and if you wait then you can make a profit. That's my mindset, I do not care about drops and for that matter I do not care about the increases neither, I just ignore the price and continue with what I do, which is holding my bitcoins.

If you really want low risk then you should ignore the price and do not check it every five minutes, if you check the price constantly and do trades because of it then you will end up with a loss. This is why I think there is no reason why you should sell right now unless you absolutely need money. If you want less risk just go buy gold, because bitcoin will go down and up constantly

There's a saying in crypto that "you don't loose until you sell" , so this is to say that as long as you are still holding your asset, they will come back up, all you got to do is be patience and hold, but if you have sold, then am sorry, but you actually made a mistake, you shouldn't have panic sold, Bitcoin you said is the reason for your loss have been going up lately, it even back up to 40k$ today which confirms that the dip it encountered of recent was nothing but a major correction, the  bull market is expected to last till November this year, so there's definitely still a good opportunity out there to recover whatever you or any body feel they've lost, all you got to do is look for the right coin/project to invest in.

If you have not sold your altcoins or bitcoins In this dip . Then you are not in loss because bullish market will be soon and all the altcoins will be back to their positions. If you have sold your crypto then you should invest in good coins which can recover your loss. I will suggest you ADA, Matic, Eth , BNB they are most amazing and trending altcoins and good for investment.

I lost a big sum of money because of bitcoin fall. What can I invest in to avoid risks like that? Or at least to bear lower risks?

One thing you will learn through many years of investing or life in general, is that sometimes you need to cut your losses. You are faced with two possibilities right now: Either eat your loss and accept that the money is gone, which means you should probably stay out of the cryptocurrency market in future. Alternatively, if you think that your crypto asset will recover in future you can hold on to it - but you have to face the uncertainty every day that it could fall even further in future, personally I prefer to do without that sort of stress in this highly volatile asset class. One of the first rules of investing is you should not put in more money than you can afford to lose and that is often overlooked by many people to their detriment.

You play on future and got liquidated or just got temporary loss because of the price below your buying price?
If you hodl on spot, you can hodl it as long as you can, market could recovery in the future. Meanwhile, you can averaging down your buying price when the dips come.

In crypto universe there isn't any way to avoid risks like this or to bear lower risks. When investing in crypto currency you have to take all the risks and accept the consequences.
As this market is very volatile, you should never invest thinking in short run profits, because sometimes it will take months or years until you are able to cash-out profits. I see you started your investment very well, because you picked the right coin (bitcoin). You just need to be more patient and don't desperate yourself after a fall in price next time. Buy bitcoin again and keep holding.

Remember many people bought bitcoin for 19,000$ years ago and had to hold it for few years until they could sell it for 64,000$ this year, during the last ATH.
Conclusion: the profit isn't overnight like some people say on the internet.

Why dont you do DCA ? DCA is the best option in this market condition. You will not lost if you did not sell. Or do you use future ? If you use future trade in this market situation you will probably lose your money even more. Buy and hold good coin/token with good fundamental development.

Lose on your portofolio is and unreal lose if you did not sell your coin.
