Major League Soccer (MLS) is professional football league for 27 teams from United States and Canada who are divided in two groups Eastern and Western Conference.
Winner of this league will qualify for CONCACAF Champions League, but total of 14 top clubs will go in qualification Playoffs.
Season 2021 has started on April 16 and regular part will last until November 7, and play offs are finished on December 11.
Champion for last year was Columbus Crew, and Philadelphia Union won EasternConference, Sporting Kansas City won Western Conference.
Seattle Sounders started this season very good, they have best attack and no defeats so far, but currently best striker is Chicharito from Los Angeles Galaxy.

HI OP, it looks like you have to update this topic because ever since Messi moved to Inter Miami, the world's eyes seem to be on MLS, I'm also still awkward with this league but it seems like this is one of the leagues that must get attention especially Messi is willing to sacrifice big money offers the big deal is just unique to be in inter miami ;D

Messi effect is going to be felt in this MLS like Ronaldo did to the Saudi League. Lovers of football, fans of Messi, brands and sponsors are are going to shift their gaze from Europe now to America. For me this league isnt that intresting even if Messi was there because there league is like the NBA only without the best players in the world. They have also hired Tata Motino as their new coach after sacking the disasters Neville who took them to the bottom of the table.

I doubt that Messi will become less popular from this move, if that is his plan, it will not work so much because already attention has been turned to the league and people are already looking forward to seeing him play in the team.

I don't know what the impact for MLS League after arriving Lionel Messi, how million Lionel Messi's fans will change with MLS League more competitive at the future or not due in United State football is not popular sport than American Football or NBA. Messi is an amazing player no doubt but the league is already playing hard and he isnt playing at all for Inter Miami. Inter is also terrible so far and are on the last place and i dont know how even Messi can help them. The only thing he can do for them is to boost their revenue and that they make money of tickets if he plays.

Messi is an utility player that will always shine if he just has one or two support. He showed this kind of talent at the last world cup by taking challenges to his soldier as they defeated France at the end. This time around, the fortunate thing is that he is not coming to Inter Miami alone, he is coming with a former team mate in Barcelona (Sagio Busquets) and also a former coach of Barcelona, Tata Martino who is already used to Messi both in Barcelona and Argentina. I think the two years contract will help Inter Miami move into a better position in the league from their current 15 position in the table. I do not agree that Mess would be forgotten since he has moved to the MLS. Maybe that's what he wants, but I doubt he's going to get it. There are also benefits that the MLS has over the Saudi league like it having more recognition globally and more quality, so it is a two way thing and it will be down to choices for any player who has interest from clubs in both separate leagues. Messi being MLS player has less with football and more with afterlife, he wants to settle down in Miami, and part of the contract is possibility for him to take down MLS license (to own a club in the league)
personally, I think that it is better decision that going to Saudi league to play just for money, but every player has his right to chose whatever he wants, both leagues will not bring competitive football after all

I don't see big difference between MLS and Saudi - both is retirement leagues for stars. Biggest difference that level in MLS is still higher and they can't pay such crazy money. I don't know what should happen that I would turn on Saudi league on TV, but maybe I will try to watch some MLS game if it won't start very late for us in Europe.

He made a decision to leave Europe so that he can have some fun and spend quality time with his family. It's possible that his main priority is to be with his family and represent his national team in the upcoming Copa tournament. Don't know others, but I'm planning to watch MLS. Inter Miami got 4 ex Barcelona players and are looking really good for the rest of the games but i honestly doubt they can reach the playoffs with not many games left. They would need to win almost all of their games to try and get that last position that leads to the playoffs

I wonder if there is a reason only players that Messi has played in Barcelona are being brought to the MLS to join him. Because these are players that he has played with before, they should all have no problems getting used to each other again and being able to play as one team to win the competition as they have done before during their time in Spain. Inter Miami have not won a league game in about two months. That's a very poor run. I hope things will get better for them.
I don't really follow the MLS and I don't know the strength of the teams that much so I can't really tell how effective the signing of these new players will be. Messi is still among the best in the world and I have no doubt he will explode in the MLS. Despite how good they may be, it will be almost impossible to win all their games. The players they signed as nothing players that are at the peak of their career. They're players at the eclipse of their career so it will do us a lot of good to not have ridiculous expectations.
I will be following the MLS henceforth to an extent and I hope it becomes very interesting because the competitions and calander year is very different from what we have in Europe.

However, if the team management had brought Lionel Messi into the field from the beginning of the game, Inter Miami would not have won in the last minute but would have secured the victory much earlier. It is his first game of the season and it is normal that he comes in from the bench. He made a good debut for Inter Miami but still this tournament dosent mean much. They didnt win in a longtime and when Messi arrived he won the their first game in a long time. I dont know what kind of an impact will the other ex barcelona players have because all of them are really old and still i wonder how much all of them will play.

Some people still have the argument that it was a scripted game to favor Messi on his debut. I wonder why Greatness can be so hurting to some people. Most of the people who say this and have this at heart are those that did not even watch the game. It was a well taken freekick from Lionel Messi, not scripted but hyped a lot because it is Lionel Messi in a new league. The media likes Messi, so the goal was everywhere. Ronaldo who the media seem to have a problem with scored a similar freekick goal from almost the same distance in the Saudi professional league, but there was no hype on it.

So Messi's goal was not scripted just as Ronaldo's own was not too, the difference in the two cases is just the media, how the media hyped one and how they made common the other.

People are just skeptical when something happens so perfect or sounds scripted like a movie.  Was a great 25 foot shot from one of the best that ever did it plain and simple.  Unbelievable how he tucked it in there.  But after all the sports scandals through the years you can't blame people for questioning the legitimacy of it how it played out.

No one of us from Europe saw the game most probably but we all headed to that spectacular hit of the free kick from Messi.Unfortunately here in the MLS the competition is not that strong as we all who are soccer fans would love to be so hopefully with the coming of Messi in not one of the best and dominating teams in the MLS to spark some fire and to make this league better to watch,I know Ronaldo has done so where he has gone in Saudi Arabia so hopefully even Messi can do the same although I must admit this is a much stronger league than that of Saudi Arabia.

I don't think there's really any new tactics Messi may be in a hurry to learn. He mostly needs to get familiar with his new team mates and the adaptation happens automatically.
He is such a big player that the team would have to adapt to his style, his runs, his passes, his positioning.

The free kick from him was incredible, it's nothing new for him and we are yet to see more. In his time, the players would definitely improve and be more creative in finding the back of the net.

I still think that the most impressive debut for any player in MLS history must still go to Ibrahimovic. They way Inter Miami play now, it is like they have never been bad. Messi in the team has brought out the best of every player in the team and I am very happy for the young players the team has. It will be glorious for Messi's career if he can win a trophy for his new club in less than ten games, It will also signal that a new era has begun for the club and the supporters will be excited for the future of their club. Philadelphia and Monterrey participate in the third place match of today's League Cup series. Although the third place match was supposed to be very competitive, Monterrey did not have a competitive attack against Philadelphia, especially when they lost control of the game with a goal by JDB .Anez within a minute of the game and then they did not play attacking football. So lost 3-0 in the third place match today.
Monterrey had most of the ball in this game but they could not get short on target. Had just one shot on target all game but Philadelphia couldn't dominate today's game as they had more than nine shots on target and managed to find the ball in the back of the net three times.

Talking about Leo Messi at 36years old, he's fully fit and able to do the spectacular things he's popularly known for. Leo Messi is consistent player with promising duties for his new club, earning them a memorable trophy means a whole lot.

On the other hand, Messi at 50% is still better than 99% of all players currently in MLS. Yes, the level is growing and they got some big stars but Messi is the only superstar. I saw a couple of matches of Atlanta United in the last 2 years and while the matches were pretty ok, there is still a big difference with La Liga or any other big European competition.

Yes it is true that this is only a small tournament when compared to other tournaments he has won, such as the Champions League which he managed to win during his time as a Barcelona player as much as 4x. But the thing that must be taken into account with its success is that football is a team sport, when there is a player who can influence a club that has always performed poorly by achieving better then that is success, but I am sure that it is not only because Inter Miami managed to convince Lionel Messi to be a player at the club but also the role of other players who also have a big contribution.
The existence of two other former Barcelona players also played a role in bringing this club to be better, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.
Messi, Alba and Busquets may only play in this club around 2-3 seasons because of age, and maybe when these three players retire Inter Miami will be back to being a weak team.

I do agree that Messi will make Inter as good as they could possibly be and I think it should be important to remember that we are still seeing Messi at a "young" age relatively. I mean he is not 40 years old, he is still just 36 years old which means that he could still play very well and we are seeing that right now.

I think he is going to break a lot of records there. But, we also need to remember that he hasn't had any time off and he is at the lowest level club, so they can't win the title this season. Next season though, they could get some players and that could lead to a better result, they may win the title next year if he keeps playing like this, that would mean that he is going to end up with a title there too, and that would be lovely.

Correct me if I am wrong, but the idea has never been to leave Inter Miami for a longer period of time. What I gathered from the news or rumors is that if Inter Miami misses the play offs, it would be a realistic option for Messi to go to Barcelona because his season in the USA would end abruptly and he would be free to play elsewhere without neglecting the interests of Inter Miami.
