We've been worse, so I think its normal to see the price go down. If you are weak hands then can't tolerate such drop then you don't deserve to earn 500% or more. Unless you are a trader who have quota and cut loss is imminent. However it can still be remedy by holding cause any coins have to go up and down sometime.

Only panic seller that has no experience with such drop will sell over a huge loss.

CryptoBitcoin is here to stay. As for cryptocurrencies in general? I do think the concept definitely has some staying power; it just depends on what project we're talking about, because a lot of projects would definitely just die out after some time.

Crypto is here to stay
Cryptography and cryptocurrency as technology will remain.
Bitcoin as the only decentralized currency will stay.
But altcoins aren't.
Almost all the altcoins we know today specially the "top" altcoins are going to die between 5 to 10 years from now.

Quote
china have banned crypto up to 5 times
BTC have died too many times before
Both statements are wrong. China has never banned bitcoin and bitcoin has never died. Millions of posts on the internet claiming otherwise doesn't make it right.

This goes to show you cannot really ban s decentralized network, the government can only exempt themselves from it. In Nigeria, it is perfectly legal to trade or hold Bitcoins, only that banks cannot get involved and oversea such exchange. This pushed more users to P2P networks, leading to the spike in activity. If majority of people considered their privacy and made that switch, governments would have no influence over cryptocurrencies.

The op is probably referring to how many times before those FUDs have been spread and how Bitcoin is still here today, proving already that they are lies.

Yeah, they've done that so many times and the world is still in shock when they're hearing about that news. I'm not yet on crypto since 2012 but I've witnessed that they've banned it a few years ago.

They have recycled that FUD all over again and again and the world is buying that FUD and they will never stop until they pushes the market too bad and low.

They said bans when they feel can not regulate cryptocurrency. They will make more regulations on cryptocurrencies but will not ban it. Cryptocurrency market is a type of market that help governments to have more money from tax.

They will not be able to ban cryptocurrency if they use blockchain technology for governmental operations. In Western nations, governments can not react like dictators as PRC in China. News, FUD, bans, regulations will be changed but cryptocurrency market will be there.

It is cryptocurrency market, not about cryptocurrency. Scam cryptocurrency will die and they self-die from their bad roadmap, developments.

Only weak hands sell in the crypto sphere, If you one then sorry this field is not for you. I do not know what is going through the mind of the Chinese Communist Party. they ban and unban cryptocurrency quite often. The Indian government, on the other hand, has no clue what is a cryptocurrency and therefore the citizens in that country are busy buying as much they can. Markets will go up and down you need to be ready to accept this fact. Stay calm and stay focused.

Who doesn't panic when the price is in a bull run then suddenly there is news of FUD from China banning cryptocurrency in its country, of course, this will be very surprised for some of their weak hearts they will think this is the end of the death of bitcoin, maybe often they don't see the history before how. bitcoin fell dramatically and could bounce back 10x after that decline.
We are here not going to panic, this has become normal and normal, only I am more focused on which the main objective should be strengthened, if some weak people sell everything up to 50% the loss will definitely happen now, but I will remain more focused on market analysis.

Yes.. bitcoin is indeed here to stay.......
But the news is how trader make there profit, that is, by buying when the price falls and selling when it rise.

So we need more rise and more fall for us to make some cool profit..

Easy to say but hard to follow. When a piece of bad news pop-up then most holders become panic quicker, not only newbie. As a result, we encounter more dumps in the price. Even we know Bitcoin would pump back anytime but we don't have enough patience. Where patience ended, then start something good. I always face this issue, once I sold a coin the next day it starts to move upward. Now decide to hold Bitcoin and not to sell before reach it back $50K at least, now Bitcoin not moving (LOL). So it's true we shouldn't panic, we should more practice patience.

Cryptocurrency is cryptocurrency, what comes and go are projects not crypto itself, thousands of coins have died since 2017 and many more are still alive so what OP said is correct, crypto is here to stay not some shitcoins but crypto in general

It's normal for BTC to drop before making new highs. Just hold and enjoy the ride

The question is for how long does one need to wait? You understand the feelings of going to your wallet and seeing your money on losses for a longer period of time. For instance you hold to sell in 90days, but by 75days you enter into losses that seems irreparable within the next 60days.
So, it is not as easy as you think to just hold on.

Even if other countries banned crypto, people would still have the means there to do p2p transaction. It is just that immediate reaction like you mentioned, but almost not all people will react like that.

Welcome back to Bitcoin Obituaries for that "BTC have died too many times before". It's getting old, but the ride keeps on moving forward.

It is still doesn't guarantee that cryptocurrency is gonna stay or bitcoin since we know the risk of investment we know that this investment could just fall easily since there are so many aspects that affect it.

Imagine if world war happened this investment could easily go down and easily you lose all of your investment, it doesn't mean that you should not invest at all but that is why you should not invest everything and always take profit when it is possible because being too greedy could lose you money when it comes to crypto.

When your investment is caught by the dump the obvious move was to hold since your not gonna lose as long as you don't sell and the market is gonna recover and if you believe in bitcoin you know how the circulation and correctionn work.

Crypto is HERE to STAY ..

Is it me or do we have a post like this every cycle? :D JK, it's important to explain to people that this tends to go in cycles and that crypto is in a place where it seems it will not be completely whipped out, at least not for some time. Governments are actually warming up to it so this downward fall is just a small part of it, in the long and grand scheme of things, crypto is going up.

If downfall don't happen how will big profits comes for whales and millionaires out there? Crashing the market one way or the other is a must to get them coins at cheaper price and wait for a better time to dump on people that don't understand about how the market works

"Crypto" is not here to stay. There are thousands of coins, and new get created every day, does the world need all of them? Can you imagine all of them being actively used? Or why would an average person have hundreds of different wallets and keep track of all the balances? In the long run there will be one dominating coin for each use case, and maybe a few alternatives existing just in case. The rest are completely unneeded. So, an average crypto investors who looks for "good projects" will find their porfolio shrink in the long run.

Blockchain technology is here to stay but cryptocurrencies are not here to stay. Not all of them will be able to survive after one year from the birthdays. Many of them can be still actively after 4 years (one big cycle of the market).

Define the (scam) DeFi (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5273078.msg55114472#msg55114472). Many scam stake / masternode coins died. The same goes for DeFi tokens in the future.

About good projects. It is a misleading and misunderstood saying. In bull market, most of cryptocurrencies go up so newbies will see they are good and potential. They only see the changes of price but don't actually look at internal developments, real products, and future for those things.

Price on market in bull trend is tip of icebergs and sometimes, it hide real value and problems of projects.

It is best to be brave, it is better to wait than to lose money. Many people have chosen to be traders instead of holders so they suffer losses. Many of them want to get rich quickly by borrowing money and participating in crypto games. People are greedy and ignorant and end up empty-handed. I think the high-ranking members of this forum have been through bear markets many times so they understand the market. Panic doesn't help much so hold and buy at the bottom.

Bitcoin as the only decentralized currency will stay.
Here is a snapshot from Coinmarketcap (http://web.archive.org/web/20130606225856/https://coinmarketcap.com/) from May 2013. This is to show how much has changed when it comes to altcoins only by looking at the top 10.

Bitcoin was always #1. But look at the other coins in the top 10. We have Litecoin. at#2. Fair enough, they are still around.

After that we have:
- Namecoin - down +80% since its ATH.
- PPCoin or Peercoin - down +85% since its ATH.
- Novacoin - dead or no liquidity.
- Devcoin - dead.
- Terracoin - down +96% since its ATH.
- Feathercoin - down +98% since its ATH.
- Freicoin - down +97% since its ATH.
- CHNCoin - dead.

You can say that to newbies because they do not have much information about the bitcoin volatility and can panic when the price is down.
It is interesting to see that the country that bans crypto is the country that buys crypto the most, showing us that people in that country do not fear or worry about the prohibition.
Bitcoin will be still with us and will attract more people to join bitcoin.
I think people who invest in bitcoin already see what bitcoin can give to them, so they decide to invest in bitcoin and hold it because they know bitcoin can give them a big profit in the future.

You are simply asking a question that only you can answer, do you need anyone to tell you when you have to sell your coins? It's your fault if you already make huge profits and failed to take the profits, that's example of been too greedy

Bitcoin has been discriminated and doubted over the years yet it was able to stay on top regardless of the issues it has faced. For those people who sold during the red market, they will surely experience regrets if ever bitcoin or other crypto suddenly recovers. China might be considered as big factor in crypto but still there are other countries that affects crypto much more than China does. Crypto is indeed here to stay, we should always have faith on crypto considering the achievements it was able to make over the years. Make sure that all the things you do will not lead you to regrets.

With Bitcoin adoption at large scale by masses and government across the globe the survival chance of Bitcoin as a cryptocurrency are way too higher than the other ones in the market or so called Altcoins due to zero development,no utility, centralized system.Bitcoin will witness huge growth and stay here until a coin with some more technical upgradation replaces it in future.Nothing is permanent like who thought in the past fiat will loose it's share to digital payments and then decentalized currencies like bitcoin will also be used.So we can't say who stays forever but yes Bitcoin have a long future ahead.

In as much as digital currency is taking over the transaction sector and diverse coins are emanating we can't say that all would be relevant most of this coins would likely not have value any time in the future. Doing a person research before acquiring a coin should rather be the major concern for all investors.

Actually people are not panicking about bitcoin will gone they only confused to see the price of it dumping badly and to cut the bleeding people execute theie sell orders and cry about their losses n their social media accounts.

But if we talk about bitcoin and crypti will stay, its not a surprise since bitcoin already gain its spot economically and bitcoin dissapearance/vanishinh is almost impossoble to happen since we know many people supports it already and I'm sure the government will follow his citizen about its adoption.

I agree. This isn't a time to panic.. The markets have corrected themselves and it may take more time to see BTC get up over that $50k mark again, but if I were talking to some new investors I would just tell them to HODL and be patient. In fact, right now is a good time to try and pickup more if/when possible. You gotta stay strong and buy the dips!

Seriously, I can relate with it. This is popular terms in crypto industry and newbies should recognize this. Holding increases your position to long term bigger gains, so stay calm and don't panic. I'm just in Bitcoin, no weird coins that can only get on certain exchanges. People might agree Bitcoin should be buying and holding. I'm not sure other coins though.

Seriously cryptocurrency have come to stay and I don't think there is anything any country can do to kill bitcoin lost of things have happened to bitcoin few year's ago and bitcoin is always coming back stronger. So I don't think there is anything we should panic about because definitely bitcoin is still going to pump. For the newbies in the house don't panic and sell your coin just calm down and wait for bounce back.

Don't feel too sorry about it. Maybe you would have done the right thing at the time and invested your money in Litecoin, but you could have also invested in Peercoin, Devcoin, Feathercoin, or any of the other projects that are now defunct and useless. Imagine you held bags of those expecting better days to come? Your portfolio would have been looking much worse if that happened.

Exactly and in years to come, same story would be told about coins currently making waves in the market especially the Defi, NFT projects thinking they have forever to dominate the space. Time will wipe them all out or decrease their value just as other projects before them are experiencing, history always repeat itself and those would ignore this surfers.

That you miss an opportunity to cash out from this trending technology the (altcoins industry in general) now doesn't mean you can't do so in the future with far superior projects which hopefully will be developed with less focus on quick money scheme but actually having interest in helping the industry achieve world greater things.

When you mentioned NFTs, I just had to bring up something I read a few weeks ago.

MILF token. ;D That's really it's name - MILF. There was a lot of hype about it from what I could see. Branded as the new Cryptopunks, whose pieces were sold for several million dollars. These MILFs were supposed to be the sexier version of cryptopunks I guess. They were advertised by that YouTube boxer-what's-his-name guy. The one who fought Mayweather a few weeks back. That's already a bad sign. If you have to pay some influencer/social media personality to advertise your project via social media.

Anyway, just take a quick look at the price and how it moved and where it's now. The point is, people shouldn't be sorry that they missed an opportunity considering how many traps there are along the way. You never know if you'll end up getting trapped.

In countries where there's been a prohibition on cryptocurrencies for example the West African country, Nigeria, reports shows surge in transactions in cryptocurrencies on exchange platforms such as Binance.

Everyday start-ups built on blockchain technologies are springing up all over the world. For newbies in crypto my best advice to is BUY & HODL. Always DYOR and avoid FOMO.

Since humans like to invent stuff, cryptocurrencies might not be here to stay but blockchain technology and its application will go far beyond bitcoin and other altcoins.

You haven't provided a shred of proof, just more speculation for the bonfire. A common theme for stock market "traders" is past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. It is also wise to be careful between conflating the future of Bitcoin with the overall future of crypto. The blockchain in particular has a bright future as a technology, but there may be many iterations of cryptocurrency before one is found that can satisfy worldwide demand sufficiently. The cap on Bitcoin is actually a hugely limiting factor on it's future success and the fees are actually a barrier to widespread regular usage, even though they have come down with successive patches.

Blockchain might be here to stay but it's going to stay just as cryptocurrencies.

We're modern today and assets have became digital, mostly. And that's the reason the value from cryptocurrencies are already there and it's very liquid.

I agree that there's more with blockchain but I have the same belief with bitcoin and the crypto market.

We had a long run yet ten years is quite too short for Bitcoin to stay alive even with those FUDS every halving or bull run cycle they will never end. But look, where are we now? Panic selling is just an old ways to minimize the risk of losing it's not the right term for that. If you want to minimize your risk of losing you should consider HODL as a means of minimizing the risk.

Besides, who sold when they were at loss at all? Only weak hands sold all of their investment thinking that Bitcoin would die just because a lot of rumors circulating in social medias. Newbies should learn not to make the same mistakes of those who dump their investment because of the FUD.

You are absolutely right that eventually only coins having good usability  will survive and rest of all will disappear from crypto space. There are hundreds of copins created to steal money of new comers in crypto industry. Probably Top 10 coins of cryptomarketcap are worth investing because they have good use case.

I like the positivity and that's we actually need during this time wherein most coins are declining in price. Crypto is here to stay but this is only for those that has utility (particularly bitcoin and other major coins) and can solve real problem. So even the market is in bearish, it doesnt mean crypto will die like what panic sellers are thinking, but it takes time to recover.

The history might repeat itself thus take this bearish market as an opportunity to fill your bags before we head towards to another bullish season.

This is a common mistake among newcomers who think just because a bunch of altcoins are on top of a list using an arbitrary ranking system that used a fake variable to sort them, they think it means these coins are "good to invest". The fact is that most of these so called "top 10" altcoins are among the worst coins that have ever been created.
#2 ETH -> centralized, premined, mutable blockchain, insecure, too expensive due to lack of scalability, filled with bugs
#3 USDT -> centralized, premined, mutable blockchain, in secure, too risky to trust, shady
#4 BNB -> centralized, premined, in full control of an exchange!, too risky to trust
#5 ADA -> semi centralized, premined, basically is the same as ETH and is just as useless
#6 XRP -> centralized, premined, mutable blockchain, shady
#7 DOGE -> a joke coin!
#8 USDC -> poor version of USDT
#9 DOT -> centralized, massive supply which I believe was premined, no real world utility
#10 BUSD -> poor version of USDT but controlled by another company

Bitcoin is banned in all the countries they are dheme? Don't stop. It will continue. If you notice how many people walk the path with faith in Bitcoin every day. Then your ideas will change. I once saw in someone's post that Bitcoin is banned in his country. He uses it. So how can it be stopped. It is not possible.

I think this discussion topic should be locked here without any questions or answers and important posts.

- "..since the bear market is just transitory..."
- "Yes, bitcoin is indeed here to stay..."
No one knows that. There are myriad reasons that can affect the price and are absolutely not related to fundamentals. Any large organization (or a group of organizations, e/g. banks) or government or prominent people can significantly affect the price, both positively or negatively. And there are many reasons that may completely eradicate digital currency.

- "We had a bear market like this in March of last year,..."
Past performance is no guarantee of future results. This is true for traditional investments and even more so for cryptocurrencies.

- "For the very fact that bitcoin had been in existence since 2009..."
10 years is a minuscule period of time to make any type of predictions.

- "True investors hodl their coin."
True investors diversify and don't put all their faith in one asset.

You are right, China legally recognizes Bitcoin as an asset. China has not banned it.
The media uses this to create panic again and again.
The wisest thing to do is to ignore it.
I know it's difficult to do, especially when my friends are discussing it.

There are hundreds of copins created to steal money of new comers in crypto industry. Probably Top 10 coins of cryptomarketcap are worth investing because they have good use case.

Actually excluding bitcoin, majority of the time, the top coins are those ones that have successfully stolen investors money. Majority get there by hype and aren't going to stay that long as sooner or later they disappear just like bitconnect and others. The next coin coming into that rating is Solana, just as dot was hype so is the coin getting hype and when you drive in you'll realize there isn't anything that special about most of the top coins. There are just an inferior version of Bitcoin or more centralized version of Ethereum.

You shouldn't based your investment strategy just on coin in top position, if you're after the profit then the lower market cap project will increase your chances since they haven't not been hyped and ready to dump by their founder and early investors since that's the trend of the day. There's a risk to his though that you should know, since this project have low capitalization they can easily be manipulated or forgotten as new projects with more hype come into the market.

Perhaps you are right, but now for a month you can observe a bear market on the market due to such unrest in different countries about the prohibition of cryptocurrency, or maybe we have already entered the crypto winter, I really would not want to think about it, such a market not very attractive to many, especially new users or investors. We all expect a bullish rise in all coins, but something is not happening ...

The crypto is volatile and it will keep moving sharply. There is no need to worry or panic. We will see the social transformation within a decade and countries will start regulating this market instead of banning it.

Regardless of what happens, we are all making money through crypto. When you know how to make money during a bearish trend, you can take advantage of such markets.  You should not push yourself too hard in this market unless you are convinced and have good risk management in place. Bull run will be very beneficial when it resumes, but for now it is not necessary to consider it.
