I see this "We’re releasing 10% into circulating supply" Then your project token "Supply distribution breakdown" taken from the 10% isn't?
The rest will be released in years or months? I'm guessing you must have realized that if something like that is done, the supply will continue to grow, how will your project maintain its token price?

Hey there sukoyomi! Good question. The 10% is the initial circulating supply at TGE, based on what is sold to the public. That is what is represented under "Public Sale - 10%" on the "Supply distribution breakdown". There will only ever be 2B tokens total, and it will take 20 years for the entire supply to be in circulation. A vast majority are locked up for various vesting periods, and there are several staking initiatives as well that will effectively lower what is circulating. More information on the vesting periods and inflation model can be found in the token paper:
https://worldmobiletoken.com/TokenPaper_latest.pdf

Happy to answer any other questions.

this is my first time to see a native token built under cardano and it seems you have solid foundation here. however, are you going to disclose your team members? it is already stated from your site that you have 36 team members working on it. better if you can publish some of the top officers of this project. also, you are requiring KYC to your buyers, so would be nice if you also disclose your team members with their corresponding profile references.
and also the min purchase amount of $200 worth of tokens is bit high if it is for public sale. is that for pre-sale or public sale?

They should be able, since he wants investors to introduce themselves, there's nothing wrong with having them do it for us too. At least it can be a reason for people to do KYC. It is a person's identity, it should not be careless with it

It looks like the project team is not anonymous, and the team information should can be displayed for all to see, Because the team has multiple AMAs and provides information about themselves.

Since the sale already started last July 5, where can we see the live stat bar of how much they are raising so far?
Also, want to see if this project is composed of people with at least a background in the African region.
And do they have financial backers for this project? Project this big should not only rely from public sale.
Also, where is their physical office for this project? They need one if they indeed want to connect billions of people in Africa.

No offense OP but I actually before joined a 99% similar project before in 2017 and they actually did raise money but failed. And I believe they have been a few others using this mesh network thing to try do ICOs.

But until today, there are no blockchain mesh project working in Africa like the way described. Why are you different? And are any of the devs African because that is super important:)

Hey Leea, good question. There was a blog article released recently about this very topic:
https://worldmobile.io/blog/post/mesh-networks/

Let me know if you have further questions.

The final details of the TGE will be shared at the end of the TGE, or before should it sell out.

As for 'background in the African region...', they have a core team, many of whom are of African descent and living on the ground there:
  • Divij, who founded Afrimax which partnered with Vodafone
  • Andrew Bartley, former Chief Investment officer of the World Bank private division the IFC in the TMT sector. He has travelled to over 20 African countries and managed a 70bn USD portfolio.
  • RJ was the choice partner for Microsoft rolling out TVWS in Tanzania and the USAID projects
  • Andrew Soper is Mr Renewable Energy and has deployed for every major MNO and Helios Towers in and around Tanzania
  • Charles N was the former Director General of Kenya and the Eastern African communities

...the list goes on. Please view the full team on the worldmobile.io website.

There are physical offices in UK, Tanzania, Zanzibar and Spain as well.

Thanks, I went through the blog but it does not actually answer my question: how are you guys different from all the past attempts at mesh networks in Africa that tried and failed?

The blog post explains about mesh networks. Which is great but I already know this,,, and as the blog says, mesh is a tech that has been around for almost 40 years now but why has it not been successful in Africa. I know the answers to some of this but hoped to see how you guys will overcome those problems.

Many companies have successfully deployed parts of the World Mobile business already: WiFi hotspots in cafes or restaurants and solar powered nodes have all been field tested. However no one has yet put them together as one solution and built a hybrid mobile network for mass adoption.

World Mobile believes the introduction of the sharing economy, a sustainable business model will be the key to successfully launching a mesh network. A problem shared is a problem solved.

Their unique approach to creating an inclusive mobile network allows anyone to own parts of the network and be rewarded financially for doing so and educating others.

World Mobile employs local ambassadors who travel to unconnected towns and villages to promote the sharing economy and educate the benefits it brings. In addition, instructions and maintenance material are created in local languages and distributed.

Peer to peer learning has been proven to be the most effective method to introduce new products, technologies and solutions anywhere in Africa and the wider world. This was validated in all of their proof of concepts.

Long term, WM will create a structured system to inform communities and users of additional services and opportunities available to them via the WM network. This will be community driven and supported by their partners that provide Value Added Services on their network making it a long term and sustainable model.

Hopefully that sheds some more light on the World Mobile approach and why they feel they will be successful.

Do you have a roadmap? I don't see it featured on the official site or on the announcement thread.
In addition, when this project actually started, your Twitter account was created in early 2019 while your site was registered in mid 2018

Why is this project not attracting interest from here? Been more than couple of weeks that you started your sale, do you think you can raise your financial targets here? What will happen if you don't, do you have your own funds to push thru this project?

As I see, the very first was announced at Jul 28, 2020 with this tweet https://twitter.com/WorldMobileTeam/status/1288138700925304837
and they have two sites at the moment https://worldmobile.io/ and https://worldmobiletoken.com/, but it's still not getting investors' interest.
I think they should remake and change the concept to something else, to be different from the current one.

They need to be active in promoting their platform if they want to attract interest from the community. Because in this thread alone, the interest is not very active. I don't know if they have plans of holding any bounty program here. Even social media bounty programs, they can hold it as it is one of the easiest ways to reach out potential supporters these days. If they want to explore their market in Africa, they also need to promote this in their local board here.

Do you have any strategic partnership to other brands and companies or any backers to make this project successful and can gain trust to many investors? this is important to build like this trillion dollar company its easy to say this for now but its hard to make it realistic.

As of week 2, they have raised over $18M so far in the public round, with over $57.5M reserved (out of $40M available). There's been a ton of interest so far. Any unsold tokens are transferred to the node operators distribution fund.

is it true? It's unbelievable, they manage to get so much money in the public sale after almost 1 year carry out the development of this project. As I see this project is exist since last year.
It's rare to hear of a project getting that much nowadays, congratulations, so basically the project will go to the next stage once the sale is over.

Yes, the project is well-funded but also has big ambitions. But totally agree that they have done well despite the market conditions recently! I think this speaks volumes to the calibre of the project and team behind it.

The platform is like an investment platform, has quite a lot of media and partners, proves that the project is serious enough, and is well worth the investor's trust. But I see flaws on websites that are very heavy to access. I hope it's fixed soon by the team. because it is very difficult to read the information on the website.

Is this project specifically for people who are in Africa. I saw the project was pretty good, but some of my points were confused because of what I found that this project was to connect many people who exist in Africa. Is this project specific to people in africa or around the world?

The ambitions are beyond Africa: World Mobile seeks to build the world’s largest mobile network, delivering universal, affordable, high-quality connectivity throughout Africa and beyond by 2030.

Africa is a natural place to start given the number of unconnected individuals there and their adoption and stance on blockchain.

That's a huge amount of money, even a project with good fundamentals and having several partnerships may not necessarily raise that much, If it's true you can raise that much, can you provide proof?

That roadmap is just highlighting some upcoming milestones, but there is work happening right now. Best place for updates is their Twitter:

Providing "proof" during the ongoing sale is not easy, since each person contributes to an individual wallet address and there are multiple tokens accepted. There are multiple custody wallets with institutional custody to secure funds, which are converted to stablecoin after purchase.

DYOR of course, but I think the latest sponsorship of Fulham FC really solidifies the calibre of this project:

Hey OP thank you for responding thoroughly to my earlier discussion,,, I still am not fully convinced that the problems I talked about were really addressed but I appreciate a lot that you took the time. I mean,,, I was talking about Africa where we do not have Wifi not to mention even 3g in most places, GPRS itself is a challenge.

And rewarding financially people for being part of the network is NOT unique, has been tried since 2016 with ICOs doing the same thing but they did NOT succeed so clearly the model itself is not going to attract people.

Anyway, I wish you luck and will still follow. Want to see concrete evidence of mesh network being used for once. Good news with Fulham, too!

It's wonderful to know this, this is no longer a small step, this is an insane big step, getting a partner relationship with a team like Fulham is a real testament to how serious this project is. I think this is what I saw the biggest, crypto implementation with a real team. It's no longer a word or a promise.

Thanks for your comment. WMT is a Cardano native token. You'd participate in staking from a Cardano wallet such as Yoroi.

No problem! Let's wait and see; there will be some videos released of their latest network deployment. The reasons you mentioned are exactly why they are doing this: there are billions of unconnected people out there, and that is what they are looking to change. Having a stable connection opens a realm of new possibilities for people.

Providing connectivity is the core of WM's business, as is using the combination of spectrums to allow them to provide a last mile solution.
The case studies show the Mesh network working. There could be numerous reasons why previous projects tried and failed, but that doesn't automatically mean this one will as well.
