The worst thing about smoking is that we all know that it causes cancer death is inevitable if you smoke it's better to give up. The most important thing to quit smoking is your own willpower the more firm you are in your decision to quit smoking, the more likely you are to succeed smoking is indirectly harming yourself and the people around you or your baby.

Yes I am a smoker for the last 10 years. Since corona I try to stop but it's very hard to just quit smoking. There are many more bad effects from smoking than just cancer, the skin ages much faster, our immune system is weaker and we can get a smoker cough. Tobacco has many bad ingredients.

Being sterile.

There's a lot more and you can just simply google all of those negative effects.

There are far more good things in life to smoke. There's only so much you can do to improve your health, though.
Lack of exercise is another harmful habit that can kill you - especially if you don't practice moderation. Exercise lowers the risk of several diseases, including heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, and certain cancers. If you don't take care of yourself, you can't take care of anyone else.

Have you heard about the curing effects of marijuana?
It's said to fix many brain problems "I don't mean you have brain problems"

to OP

I happen to smoke marijuana, Cigg and combination of both. I'd suggest micro dosage of marijuana is much better in a week or two. It relaxes and resets the brain @least that's what it does for me. Over going with marijuana is very bad and daily consumption will be extremely unheathy for your brain.

I used to smoke before but I quit over a year ago. I tried to stop several times but then it went back to my normal habits. I would feel really depressed and just stop going out and socializing all together.
Last year I told myself I would stop smoking. I even went to a tobacco support group to help me quit. I was able to complete the program using a combination of nicotine patches and counseling, something I have not been able to do alone in the past.

I do not smoke. I see those who become active smokers to old age become asthmatic...

in addition to throat or lung cancer, smoking can also cause asthma, although it is not so severe when compared to cancer, asthma can interfere with activities and can even endanger the life of the sufferer.

One of the long term consequences of smoking can lead to a disease called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a progressive condition that affects 25 million people worldwide.
This is due to the synergistic effects of nicotine, tar and carbon monoxide. Together, they combine to promote inflammatory pathways throughout the body.

Since the time I learned we all will die someday, I did smoke  ;D

I still do smoke from time to time especially when there is a barbeque party in the neighborhood. Occasionally yes I do smoke even with just friends that I have back in my younger years, sometimes I couldn't avoid it because they usually see me that way when we are still in high school. Bad habits wouldn't get off that easy especially if you are not trying hard.

Nothing is impossible but requires a strong dedication and willpower to quit smoking if you smoke a lot. It really impacts your health at the later stage and better to avoid suffering rather than smoking it now when you are young. Instead just save that money and invest so that you can make some returns and can go for many smaller trips and have a better experiences and change in life.

I agree to this since OP is looking for a long term effect it would be poverty or too much waste of money.
I know some people who I consider to be a heavy smoker I just find it as a waste of money even though I tried it before.
I just think that they could spend it on more important thing than just a cigarette?

I sometimes wonder what actually causes the cancer... could it be smoking toxic chemicals that cause cancer or merely sniffing/injesting any kind  smoke regularly/occasionally into your internal body  especially the lungs. Our great grand parents cooked alot with firewood , sniffed in alot of smokes from the fire, yet they lived long. So, maybe it's toxic chemicals/substance (especially the man-made ones) inside the things they smoke that cause problem like cancer.   I would avoid cigarettes because of possiblity of them having toxic chemicals/substances.

I regards to whether i smoke or not, i actually don't, but I wouldn't encourage you to stop those who the smokes don't harm to stop . The risk has to be zero-little to the smoker, and the smoke should be beneficial to them.

Well ,if you understand how naturally interconnected the world is, you will be extreme carefully provoking even a tree into fear or anger.
There are people who can't sleep well without making other creatures especially humans to misbehave or be sad. They are usually satan's tools to provoke a change or tools for creating disorderliness in the interconnected system.
There are times the CREATOR just allow human suffer from the disorderliness they create (or strongly want to create) after humans have rejected HIS warning and become too hardened.

I quit smoking in 1996 on feb 29th.

I just had my 25th anniversary of being smoke free.

I quit pot in 1991 Jan 27th

It was my last use of at the time illegal drugs.

Quitting the illegal drugs was easy compared to quitting the cigarettes.

The worst illness is not copd or cancer the worst is emphysema slow motion suffocation.

You can’t  reverse it takes years and every breath you take is a struggle.
I do not smoke anything. I have never smoked a cigarette or cigar or joint in my life.

Emphysema is worse than cancer or copd.

It is irreversible slow motion suffocating to death.

My aunt smoked she died of it.
It was hard to watch.
I struggled to visit here in the hospital.
I knew I was watching my future.

but i quit feb 29th 1996 25 years ago.
Thanks to love 💗 of my wife and fear of dying like my aunt.

The ironic thing is, almost all smokers actually know smoking can cause cancer. But because of their addiction, they close their eyes to it,
actually making us not smoke must have a strong intention from ourselves. Smoking for me only provides temporary pleasure and harms us
in the long run. So we better not smoke, if we want to live healthy and free from disease.

It's a fact that most smokers don't care about their health, and we don't have the right to force them to quit smoking. The least we can do is
advise them not to smoke in public places, so as not to harm other people who don't smoke. But I am disappointed with my country which does
not regulate properly regarding the issue of smoking, so in my country there are still many smokers in public places. And because the government
does not provide strict sanctions, considering smoking in public places to be normal, so it's not unusual in my country the rate of lung disease is
quite high.

One of my uncle's smoked his entire life. At age 62 his Doctor finally convinced him to quit..six months later he was diagnosed with throat cancer.

My other uncle never smoked a day in his life, he had a stroke before his 65th birthday.

My Dad smoked until age 50 and then quit. He died of a heart attack at 63.  The Doctor put on his death certificate that the cause of the heart attack was due to smoking, I asked the Doctor why he put that as he had not smoked in over 13 years.  He said he would have put it even if he only smoked one cigarettes in his life because smoking causes heart attacks.

I have never smoked, but I am not convinced about the statistics showing smoking causes cancer and heart/stroke problems.  My anecdotal evidence seems to indicated quitting is more dangerous.

"Smoking is indigenous to health", that is what is written on the cigarettes pack. I never did smoking because i care for my health. I don't know why people smoke when they know the side effects of smoking. At younger age one may not notice anything wrong but as you grow old your lungs will start to deteriorate and your antibodies system will become very weak.

Many people think that smoking is the way to get rid of all the worries in your life but I think it is a very bad habit and endangers people's lives so I must never tell anyone that you smoke but I try to keep everyone away from it.  You refrain from smoking, of course I never smoke myself, so I keep everyone away from it so that people can live longer and they can live longer.

As far as I know, smoking also triggers the following disease.
COPD is a lung disease defined as the inability to easily breathe air into the lungs. this is due to chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
Smoking is shown as the most important cause of COPD. COPD is one of the most common diseases. The course of COPD may vary according to the number of cigarettes smoked in a day.

COPD was more common in men in the past. However, with the increase in cigarette consumption in women, it has taken its place among the most common diseases.

This is more or less perception as well, as just understand that for non smokers, they still get rid of the stress even without smoking it. So how doe they do it, as well all knows it effects the health and for some it becomes worsen if their body type does nt have a good resistance and later on have complication with the health.

Smoking is really bad for the health. It is very critical if you don't stop smoking. Xinarae* is right you better quit if you don't want to die early.

I don't smoke because i know it not good for the health and I'm sorry to say this because i know some people are smoking cigarettes, weed and many more.
But to be realistic Smoking causes cancer, heart disease, stroke, lung diseases, diabetes, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which includes emphysema and chronic bronchitis. Smoking also increases risk for tuberculosis, certain eye diseases, and problems of the immune system, including rheumatoid arthritis.

Smoking cigs and or weed both cause emphysema and or COPD.

They also cost a lot of money.

It is true that smoking is not a good thing to do, especially to become addicted, because it can cause damage to our organs. It's better for us
to live a healthy life without smoking, remember that prevention is better than cure. I also strongly recommend that smokers slowly reduce
smoking habits, in addition to harming themselves, smoking also harms other people who accidentally inhale cigarette smoke.
Moreover, the price of cigarettes is not cheap, it is better to use the money to buy cigarettes for investment, it is much more useful.

For over half my life I have struggled with alcoholism and drug addiction.  So hell yeah I smoked.  A lot.
But it is not all fun and games decades in: in the parts of your brain involved with motivation there are a number of receptors which literally sink into the cell membrane and thus no longer activate.  It literally takes more and more to get motivated leading to amotivational syndrome.  But fortunately it is reversible and after a few months they will poke back out unlike with dopamine receptors which can be permanently altered.
Well one step at a time..

Cigarettes are terrible. People say they smoke to get rid of anxiety, but I never had a problem with that until I started smoking. There are so many reasons that cigarettes are bad for you, but I did recently run across a study that said that smokers who quit by age 45 lowered their excess risk of lung cancer by 87%.

Not at all.
Everyone should give up this bad habit.
When anyone smoke within 10 seconds of your first puff, the toxic chemicals in tobacco smoke reach your brain, heart and other organs. Smoking harms almost every part of your body and increases your risk of many diseases. Smoking also affects how you look and feel, your finances and the people close to you.
Everyone have different perceptions but Personally I do not smoke and will never.

I don't smoke. And to answer your question, Apart from cancer there are other long term consequences of smoking cigg or weed. The consequences are
1. Short term memory: this is because weed or cigg has a mind-altering components that affects the brain.
2. Decreased sperm count: Sperm have a cannabinoid receptors, so weed or cigg induces Erectile dysfunction by causing damage to the endothelial cells (cells that helps to maintain an erection).

It is clearly and boldly written on the cigarette packs that smokers are liable to die young, There 99 substances in the cigarette liable to cause cancer, smokers have been clearly ,they even went further to put a picture of an healthy non smokers kidney and a smokers kidney and lungs, knowing fully well that it might affect their market and they have to make sales ,even at that they still made sure to pass the right information showing the dangers of smoking.

Smoking of weed or hard drug make you prone to mental disability, it can affect one mentally, it is dangerous for consumption, many still take them because of addiction.
Smokers do not care the outcome in as much as they satisfy their taste for it.

I actually read the scientific paper on that. Certain cannabinoids do actually indeed cause cell death (cell apoptosis) in certain cancer tumors like brain tumors (Glioblastoma) but also possibly promote other tumor growth, primarily in testicles. Fair trade, if true? Hard to say.

Smoking isn't good you need to stop it, Smoking causes atherosclerosis, which is when plaque builds up in the blood and sticks to the artery walls. This makes them narrower, reducing blood flow and increasing the risk of blood clots.

What do you think are the long term consequences of smoking Cigg or Weed.

Various chemicals can cause DNA damage, and with cell division, this damaged DNA can with time become cancer. Same with how UV light damages the skin cells which can then become melanoma. Regular smoke from fire can cause cancer as well. It's not that simple of course, some people smoke their whole life and live to the ripe age of 80, while other die at 50. Now, the question is, would the first type of person live up to a 100 if they didn't smoke? Maybe. Long story short, don't risk with cancer, I've had enough cancer patients in my family to tell you it's a devastating disease both on the patient and the rest of the family.

I stopped smoking the day a doctor told me to read the body of a cigarette pack, which reads "SMOKERS ARE LIABLE TO DIE YOUNG" he then to me that if I really wanted to leave long in good health I should quit smoking and drinking. From that day onwards I stopped smoking and drinking, it's not been easy because I always get tempted to go back to it but am still trying to resist the temptation, I no longer attend gatherings where I know they will surely smoke, it's not been easy tho.

Smoking is not a good idea, and it is definitely harmful to our health. I have a lot of smoking friends, but I don't let that influence my decision to smoke. I don't smoke, but I enjoy seeing others smoke, and I don't always judge them. I see it as a way to escape from difficult times.

I am with you people knows about this addiction but they dont want to quite because they are not facing the effects of smoking but its a slow poison that affect their lungs and after next 20 years they will suffer their deeds , but time is passed .  IT'S NO USE CRYING OVER SPILT MILK .

What do you think are the long term consequences of smoking Cigg or Weed.

Other than cancer.

I'm not a medical practitioner but as I've head smoking can cause damage to the lungs. Meanwhile I'm a smoker, my father is a smoker and he is 80 years old now without any health issues caused my smoking. But we're different people, you might not survive what another person survived.

The common consequences of being a smoker are cancer, but there have many other dishes like Hiper tension, Acidity, Lung cancer, and so on.

I did smoke but now I totally avoid this bad habit. I believe that it doesn't occur any good for health. So, everyone should avoid taking this.

I know smoking is very bad for health. So knowingly I will never harm myself. Everyone who smokes knows that smoke causes cancer but still they smoke. Smoking is not only harmful to oneself, but the environment in which smoking is done, if there are other people in that environment, they will be harmed more than the one who smokes. So I always try to avoid such bad deeds and bad habits.

Nope,.I would say that the long term consequences of smoking cigarettes or weed can be quite serious.

Both substances can have negative effects on your respiratory system and increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Additionally, addiction can be a concern for some people who smoke regularly.

for others this is a challenge if they can stay 1000 years old from smoking  ;)

I have quit smoking 7 years ago and yes my life changed and my health goes tronger.

I personally don't smoke, I tried it in the past but I didn't like it, I think it's a personal choice
and maybe it is mental help as you did not suffer from complication from cigarette smoking .
