What is Whatcoin?
-------------
WhatCoin is focused on solving real world problems through innovation and Blockchain technology. We have real world use cases out of the box and will continue to expand on WhatCoin's uses on a continual basis through continued innovation and development.

Introduction

Whatcoin began as the fairly simple idea.  The project is still new, we do not have an official roadmap.  We have memes and coins, and a good group of people.

Whatcoin is a fork of Raptoreum (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5065848.0 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5065848.0)). Our hope is to contribute to the community by sharing Ghostrider with more users, demonstrate its ASIC resilience and providing lots and lots of rain in Discord.

What Problems are WhatCoin Solving?

1.) ASIC and FPGA resistance through use of the GhostRider algorithm.
2.) 51% and double spend protection.
3.) Allowing the power of the asset platform to be utilized by DAPPS (smart contracts).
4.) Protection against Masternode network consensus manipulation.
5.) Scaling issues caused by smart contracts being built into blocks (think CryptoKitties) (we use Smartnodes for this)
6.) Encouraging mass adoption through ease of use not only direct through wallet but DAPPs.
7.) Removing hyperinflation issues due to coins locked in Smartnodes, custom tiering system for rewards and collateral.
8.) Instant spend (no waiting on confirmations), private send.

Mining

WhatCoin's GhostRider algorithm is currently only CPU mineable.

Smartnodes

Smartnodes are used to handle smart contracts, and provide 51% \ double spend protection. In addition this allows:

- Larger allowed contract size
- Greater variety of programming languages can be used
- Removes the scaling issues and large increase in gas tx fees, such as are caused by large DAPPS (think CryptoKitties)

Active WhatCoin Bounties

Bounties can currently be won by producing high quality articles, videos, and use case scenarios, join Discord to find out more.

Were are tokenomics? Pre-mine and so on?

Were are tokenomics? Pre-mine and so on?

There is no pre-mine.

Blocks 1-720 Reward 4 WATC
Blocks 721 and on reward 5,000 WATC per block during current cycle

Each reduction cycle is 21,262 blocks, which is 29 days, 12 hours, and 44 minutes (synodic lunar month). This decreases the block reward slowly every full moon, we have names this the “owling”. This greatly smooths the emission curve in comparison with coins such as RVN or BTC.

Each phase lasts 8 years (2 x regular 4 year halving) which corresponds almost exactly to 99 lunar months.

This cycle is called an Octaeteris: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octaeteris

Octaeteris 1: 26 lunar months with a 5000 WATC block reward, then 73 lunar months with a 10 WATC block reward reduction every full moon, awooooooo! (99 lunar months total)
Octaeteris 2: 99 lunar months with a 20 WATC block reward reduction every full moon.
Octaeteris 3: 50 lunar months with a 20 WATC block reward reduction every full moon followed by 49 lunar months with a 10 WATC block reward reduction each full moon.

What real world use cases are you going to explore here? Because that's very generic statement. You need to be more specific on what you want to achieve here. Also, if you want merchants to accept your coin, you need to introduce your coin to them not the other way around. Because these merchants will go after btc or other popular alts and not your never-heard coin. Just my 2 cents here.

Even if it doesn't mean much, it's nice to see new PoW coins, even if the goal is just mining and then dumping, the real fun is in mining and getting the feeling of reward. Tokens don't provide that, but getting straight to the point, what is Whatcoin for? In fact, they were very creative in creating the name too. What is the relationship with Raptoreum?
