Title: Is it worth buying other cryptocurrencies other than bitcoin?
Post by: Magicalking on July 03, 2021, 02:48:08 PM
I heard about Bitcoin and ethereum around the same time. Bitcoin was I believe around $15k and ETH was below $200. I couldn't afford to buy 1btc so I didn't buy any and I didn't buy ethereum because I believed Bitcoin was the only genuine crypto currency to buy. But since my discovery of this forum I have found members who believe different. Looking back I see I have lost on both fronts and wasted an opportunity. So my question is this which is more important factor to consider before buying a coin, do you buy because of the technology of the project and what it has to offer, the utility of the token or the news?

There is a difference between buying a currency and investing in its currency. Investment is always a bet on the future. There is nothing better than betting on technology or buying. It is linked to achieving a profitable profit. When you achieve that profit, you can withdraw your money (short-term investment)
In general, we are in an early adoption stage and these prices may be very low in the future. Buy using the average dollar price strategy when you have a surplus of money. In any case, keeping Bitcoin is better than cash.

I couldn't afford to buy 1btc so I didn't buy

You could buy 0.5BTC, 0.1 BTC or even 0,00000001BTC=0,00015$ = 0,015 cents (@15k price) - minimal investment in bitcoin! How dare you to say that bitcoin is "the only genuine crypto currency" if you don't even know that it is divisible and you can invest as much as you want, no matter how high BTC price is.

Back to your question. If your knowledge about crypto is that small, and you did not improve it in last 7 months (last time BTC was @15k 7 months ago) you should avoid any altcoin. Mostly because 99% of them are scam, useless or dead projects. There are no more than 10 good alts out of 10 000 listed on coinmarketcap and all of them are overpriced right now if we entered bear market (all TA indicators call bear market now)

There are certainly good tokens to invest like ETH which if you just bought some while the price was $200 at that time of discovery, you could have multiplied many times your capital if you hold for long term. It could happen to any project today that you think has good utility for their token. It however takes time.

The reason some of us suggest BTC is it's great for storing value and it's best for trading particularly in BTC/USD pair due to its volatility.

My concern is for the long term. I'd like to buy and store for a long time. I'm not interested in quick profits but for the long term gains.
I also think believing in the technology would generate more returns. But some coins or project have good tech but poor marketing so they are not known

I couldn't afford to buy 1btc so I didn't buy any...
That was a big mistake you made. You should've bought the much your finances could've afforded you. You would've been on a double profit at the current price if you actually bought at $15k.

So my question is this which is more important factor to consider before buying a coin, do you buy because of the technology of the project and what it has to offer, the utility of the token or the news?
It's best to buy on the technology and usecase the token has to offer. In fact, that's the only option there should be. News is hype and may not last long to sustain a project. It's crowd mentality, don't go that way. Always consider the programme and functionality of the token you want to buy. Doing that will make you not be in panic whenever its price crashes.

The fundamentals of a coin are always the most important, many people let themselves be deceived by hype thinking it is the most important thing for new coins to gain money, and it is if you are looking for fast variations on the price on the short term, but there is just one small problem with that, it is impossible to predict which coin will go through incredible hype and produce gigantic profits, and if you choose this path then you are basically gambling with your money with the difference you are not getting any fun out of it.

So concentrate on the fundamentals and once you do you will notice there are only a few projects that are good and that are at an early enough stage for you to invest.

The answer is Bitcoin is the best ever.
  • Messari.io screener (https://messari.io/screener)
  • Click on Customize, remove check from unused indicators. It's better when you narrow down the list of indicators, to see % Down from ATH (All time high)
  • Even Bitcoin set its new all time high in May, many altcoins have yet reclaimed their 2017 or 2018 all time highs.
  • Even so, Bitcoin still has less % Down from ATH compares to many other cryptocurrencies

You can use Dollar cost averaging or Satoshi cost averaging tables

Bitcoin is the king of all cryptocurrencies. Strong community of any coin plays a major role to drive the value of the coin. You should not repent that you missed the chance most of the forum members are like this at first they also ignore the crypto market Genuity but later most of them realize they missed a good earning opportunity. At present, I like Trx, Cardanao, Ethereum, and Binance because these all are product-based and the probabilities of growth are quite higher than many other coins.

the fact of the game of investors may be, but that is not the main factor if the coin already has its own fundamentals, this is proven when Elon toyed with the coin but it returned to its pre-crisis price

IT is a common misconception to believe that BTC is the only one legit coin in crypto as I have known few people in my experience who also believe so.

In buying other coins aside from BTC or ETH, you can consider buying from the other well known coins such as BNB, XRP, Uni, or etc. Or as you said, consider their offerings and just 100% believed what you feel if they're scam or not. cause now you will be taking the high risk in crypto  ;)

It's a popular opinion but diversifying your portfolio would have more benefits than harm. There are many reason why diversifying would be more rewarding and less risky than just holding bitcoin and it's not just due to profit. Their might be different circumstances both with the market and yourself that may make bitcoin only investment seem like a bad idea. Even with diversified coins, it better to diversify how and how long you hold them.

The most important factor I believe is the real life use case of the cryptocurrency before buying it.  But many don't mind it and just buy for profit's sake.  I do buy for mix reason.  The use case and the profitability of the coin in short, medium and long term.  Mixing these stuff won't hurt but instead would give us diversity and the possibility of maximum profit if that is the end goal.

There are different views so get used to "members who believe different".
Important factor to consider is if the coin even has a practical use. There are many copy paste or should I say carbon copy of coins that are just simply almost clone of another existing coin.
This is why I start from the top of the popular coins before going down to the pit of where many shitcoins exist.

My guess is that you didn't do more research and that made you think that bitcoin can only be bought if it's 1 btc only. If you have known that there is smaller amount of bitcoins having it's own unit name like satoshi and mbtc then you would have earn profit. It really made sense that you only heard bitcoin and eth then never done any research. Choose crypto that you think suits your requirements like faster transactions, widely used and more except shit coins which cannot survive long term.

well, its the technology behind the coin that brings utility, so buying the coin because of the technology is same as buying the coin because of the utility, and to answer the question in the topic, it's highly worth it, I mean, aside bitcoin and Ethereum, when you visit coinmarketcap, you sure will find thousands of other coins that are super successful and have made its early investors super rich, so this is to say that making money in crypto does not end with bitcoin and Ethereum, there are several other projects out there that are highly promising and can bring a lot of money to its investors if discovered early, so it's worth it to invest in other coins other than bitcoin and Ethereum.

You buy bitcoin and ethereum for your peace of mind. There are projects that are hyping their technology and news but they don't have anything to offer for real.
A project can have all of those that you're asking but in real life, they have zero case and use.

Ethereum is not an ordinary coin. many projects under ethereum smart contract . and also BSC also related to ethereum smart contract. For me if the plan was going to hold for a long time then i choose coin that will impact many projects or many aspects. at least the coin does have an impact on many people. there is few coin that have their own smart contract . such polkadot . ada . eos .

Just an FYI you're going to get a lot of stupid answers in this section of the forum and after reading what most people have been writing in this thread, that statement is holding true.  So are there coins worth buying other than bitcoin? Yes.  Not all coins are alike either.  Ethereum is NOT a bitcoin competitor.  Ethereum is a smart contract based platform that is made for creating apps , NFTs etc.  It's main purpose is not that of a digital form of payment for normal goods and services.  Monero is another very legitimate altcoin that is different than bitcoin.  Monero, unlike bitcoin, is a fully anonymous coins.  It's the best anonymous coin out there as well (there are others such as Zcash for example).  There are a lot of other coins you can of course speculate on, but most coins are garbage.  Sure they may pump a little here and there but the majority solve no real world issue, have no true purpose other than to make somebody rich.  When evaluating a coin that is what you have to ask yourself.  What real world issue is it solving? Is it able to be used in todays world, right now?  What is it's primary function?  Who is the developer team behind it and do they have a good track record? etc.

You mention not being able to afford either bitcoin or ethereum, but remember you can buy fractional shares.  Though if money was/is tight I commend you on not spending money on something you don't fully understand or believe to be high risk.

Because technology of the project, its usability and what it has to offer are important things you need to look at before buying a coin and again buying a coin other than bitcoin is worth it, as long as it is still at the top

definitely the answer to your question is a simple one:

buy on the wave

I'll explain better:

in the past the wave was ICO, then the wave was DEFI and now the wave is NFT (Non-fungible token)

Note that even altcoins that had dog names increased a lot in prices and are not useful projects for society, but as elon musk supports dogecoin then it became fashionable to create dog altcoins and people followed the wave of dog altcoins

You must have a your strong reasons why you are interested in the cryptocurrency. I like my privacy and decentralization, but what kind of technology do you like? I mailed "Play store" and so many places to accept crypto payment. Crypto payments are more reliable and faster than others. You can take the Ethereum and Binance coin opportunity, if you are interested in a single number. Now don't miss the next opportunity, if you have enough knowledge.

I buy depends on the market situation, I buy because it’s cheap and I buy because of it’s hype. You have to know how this market works and know that, if you are too focus on one cryptocurrency, you are missing a lot of things. When it comes to a new project, you must consider everything because not all are worth investing, they are new that means the risk are high as well.

Of course, there are many other high value cryptocurrencies besides bitcoin, these altcoins use blockchain technology that can be implemented in the real world, it's just that bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency in the world and is still the price reference for other altcoins. Examples of altcoins that are currently on the rise are ETH, BNB, SOL and Matic.

Of course, I think you should spilt your investment to different coin not just on Bitcoin sometimes you would be able to earn much more on altcoins rather on Bitcoin sometimes when the Bitcoin pumps the altcoin's price were left behind and after some time it will pump, it depends how you handle or what strategy you are doing in your investment but in my opinion buying other coins rather than Bitcoin is really worth it.

some people may like to trade and invest in multiple assets. but some people like BTC completely. storing and trading BTC with large capital must be very profitable.
but I myself prefer altcoins to BTC. but I also don't put my investment in many altcoin assets. only slightly. while for this season, only BNB, LTC, and LINK I manage in my wallet.
but to buy now, no big deal. bitcoin still controls the market today. and altcoin momentum is slowly building up.

Advances in blockchain technology are adding new projects that will improve quality.

It is still a matter of risk. Investing in Bitcoin is less risky, but Bitcoin is unlikely to be X10 in a short time.Investment in altcoin is high risk, but there is a possibility of X10 in a short time.If you buy for HODL, bitcoin can be said to have little risk, while altcoin has the risk of becoming zero.

Of course it's worth it, because there are many good coins besides bitcoin. Altcoins like ethereum, bnb, cardano, polkadot and other big coins are good investments besides btc. when btc goes up, the altcoins that I mentioned earlier also increase. so it would be a worthy investment besides bitcoin.

Perhaps, you can consider buying the coin is for the investment factor because now, the usage of the coin in real life is not yet implemented because of waiting for the government's approval. If you use the investment term, you only need to invest in bitcoin and leave it in your wallet without doing anything.

You do not lose yet, and you still have much time to invest in bitcoin as the price still below $40k, and the price can go down if the correction comes. You can invest in the other coins if you want, and ethereum will be the next coin that can be your investment. You can buy from a small part if you do not have much money. We buy bitcoin using that way, and we still did that until now. That is a solution for people who don't have much money but want to accumulate more bitcoin from time to time.

Of course, because there are many top cryptocurrencies besides Bitcoin, which are also very popular in all over the world, and most importantly, these cryptocurrencies are constantly developing rapidly and bring good profit to their investors, so you should study the cryptocurrency market and top cryptocurrencies in this market in order to decide later in which top cryptocurrencies it is best to invest, and of course you can, for example, study such top cryptocurrencies like ethereum, binance coin and polkadot.

I did buy altcoins cause i think its offer more yield than investing on bitcoin. If you take a big picture ETH perform more in 2021 than bitcoin. Before buying its true you need to do a research and i do think fudamental of the project is the main factor that make the price perform well.

Yes there are many available coins that you can divert your money aside from Bitcoin, especially if you only have a small amount to spare for your investment, using other popular crypto which cheaper than Bitcoin might bring same or more profits if you pick the right one and you really follow the development of that project.

You can always buy just parts of Bitcoin if you want to. Like 0.01BTC and it may still be worth more someday when you keep it.
Altcoins, yes, there is always a possibility for profit on that field and in fact I am also one who bought altcoins sometime ago up until now.

Use case, team behind it and how good their marketing strategy is, better look at those details twice so that you can lower the risk.
Even with how sweet the words that will come out of their team, you should not believe it but use it as where your point of research will be.
If your instincts tell you it's a 50/50 chance then your research can lower that to 20-40 percent. It's an important part before investing.

The technology used in a project is one of the factors affecting the choice of people of course. If the project seems really innovative and aims to solve a real-world problem, I start trusting it more than others honestly. So, you shouldn't just think of investing into Bitcoin. You can also do a good research about various projects and give them a chance too.

If you mean Ethereum or other coins in the top of the list by market capitalization, it's not worth it. Bitcoin tends to rise higher and to fall less significantly than Ethereum and others. But given that Bitcoin is #1, it's also already worth lots of money, and imagining it going 3x over a short period of time is unbelievable. At the same time, there are always shitcoins that easily do this. So there is more fast profit to be made with altcoins hypothetically. But you also have to factor in the risks of buying an unpopular crypto: it can make you lose way more than you would with Bitcoin.

if only for profit, all coins are worth buying. but if it's for long term investment, not all coins are good enough to buy. only coins that rank up and have real use are worth buying. Coins like ethereum or BNB are among the coins besides bitcoin that are very viable in the long run. but it must be remembered that not all top ranked coins are good, there are some coins that are just speculation to develop like meme coins. better to miss such coins, you will only regret it later.

By investing in altcoins, an investor gets a greater profit than by investing in BTC. But this rule only works for the bull market. As the market becomes bearish, the value of altcoins loses 80-90% of the maximum, while the price of BTC falls by 40-50%. But it is necessary to trade altcoins, at least in order to buy more BTC.

There's a time that I invest more in altcoins because it's very quick to make a profit on new coins than Bitcoin, Bitcoin is great but it's not the only fish in the sea that's worth having, there are hundreds of coins in the market and if you limit yourself to only investing in Bitcoin you are limiting your knowledge and profit.
I totally agree with you. Some of the biggest profits I have made in cryptocurrency were from some other good Altcoins that I have invested in over the years. I believe that Bitcoin is great to have in your portfolio but as you mentioned there are many good Alts projects we can invest in to make good profits, crypto is an investment and you most definitely want profits from your investments.

I'm like you several times have profited from investing in altcoins, so it's not only Bitcoin that can give us profit. But there are also many altcoins
that can give us profit, the problem is that the number of altcoins is very large and not all of them can give us profit. In fact most of them are
shitcoins that will cost us money. Therefore, if we want to decide to invest in altcoins, we must do research and analysis first, so that we don't
choose the wrong altcoins for investment. Usually the top 10 altcoins are safe to buy and can generate profits if we are patient waiting for the price to rise.

I think it's even better than just saving bitcoin, because bitcoin is the first version of the cryptocurrency, and altcoins are the further versions, it could be that you get a lot of profit like storing bitcoin for the last 5 years, because the coins you buy are still strong enough to be developed.

Yes, that's true, but pay attention first by buying other cryptocurrencies besides bitcoin, and observe it before buying other cryptocurrencies, because the cryptocurrencies that will be purchased do not necessarily happen like bitcoin is happening now.
And hope that the next altcoin will develop like bitcoin.

If there is possibility of bull season in the upcoming months, than you can buy ethereum or other top alts which are having huge fanbase and potential to grow more. As bitcoin took bullish rally, ethereum and other alts also pumped a lot and few alts created a new ATH in this current bull season. So, it'll depend on the market condition as well as the fundamentals of those alts. So it's better to understand FA as well as TA for doing trades on any alts.  :D

Every time I see this type of question, my only answer is to check the coin's credibility which can be done through doing some simple research about the coin itself that you are eyeing. First, you need to check the community first whether it gives a good vibe, gives good criticism, etc., etc., and not just a whole bunch of people shilling the project without any reason or overly exaggerating things. Second would then be to check the type of developers the coin has and the partners; whether they are good at what they do or not like management of community, marketing and the project as a whole. Third would be the usefulness of the concept or the usecase level of the coin. If all these are good, then it will be a nice investment.

You actually do not need to stuck yourself on those popular cryptocurrencies, there are still some other crypto that can be worth to invest with. You should try diversifying since that has became the trend nowadays considering the success of many altcoins other than Ethereum and Bitcoin. There's nothing wrong with investing on other altcoins as long as it is worth it and it has the potentially of become successful in the near future as well. Keep on finding and make sure you will pick the best and only the best so that your time wouldn't be wasted and your money will keep on growing.

Diversifying our portfolio would not only mean between ethereum and bitcoin. Of course, other altcoins too could be very profitable in their own unique ways. Altcoins are very risky to invest but if you have chosen those well developed coins with high potentials that will grow more in the future, then you have nothing to worry about. It's better to invest into different coins but make sure to prioritize bitcoin capital over the others.

You will find a lot of users in here that are bitcoin enthusiasts and also bitcoin evangelists and are saying that bitcoin is the only legit cryptocurrency and every other cryptocurrency except from bitcoin is a sh*itcoin. I disagree with this statement i mean why would someone say that Ethereum is a sh*it coin in 2021 anymore? There are so many projects that are running on the Ethereum Blockchain already and everyday there are new projects emerging. The whole hype with the Defi projects could only develop because Ethereum has the smart contract functionality that makes those Defi features like yield farming and staking even possible.
I always looke at the whitepaper of the project, the team, the use-case and also the tokenomics. If all those 4 points look good to me i may invest into that project.

It is a long lived sentiment that BTC and ETH are the best of all. Obviously that is a for reason and it's true in many sense. They are the oldest player and also with some function or utility which makes them the unique. Of course it is always worth buying other crypto's because many of them are coming up as great ideas and innovations which are true to the current world. You know we have virtual debit card processors to having gift cards and stuff in the form of crypto currencies. Many tech giants are focusing on the crypto exchangers too, having perfect instrument model and what not. These are emerging projects, while some of them already rooted the base perfectly.

So yeah, its more than logical to keep diversifying your portfolio. That way you also minimise the risk of loosing money on one bet itself.

I think most of us have a goal of making a profit that is why we are investing in cryptocurrency or bitcoin, the technology is just a perk of bitcoin and cryptocurrency but not really the reason why we are buying it.

There is a part of it since we buy cryptocurrency that has great technology like faster transactions, high security, etc. but the main goal of it is to make a profit with the reason of its utility or we believed that it could be useful in the future.

There is some token like Dogecoin which doesn't have a utility but still able to get a good market price in the market so I think there is a lot of reasons why we buy other coins. Bitcoin technology is already old but still top 1 cryptocurrency until today.

I would say Dogecoin has utility unlike other coins with unlimited coins in circulation, if you doubt the meaning of the world, just check multiple gamble sites and can you see Dogecoin accepted as a currency to gamble, that alone is more than enough to determine its utility unlike other coins in the market, where the only purpose is to trade or expect a pump and dump.

I am completely driven by the news and I continue to do so. If you don't like to follow the market, you can invest in projects on a long-term basis  :-\

Bitcoin actually is the best for investment here in this field of business. But I think it is only good for the individuals who have a big capital and motivated for the long term, but for the traders who is not in the middle class type of people, buying cryptocurrency is very suitable for them like me.
I agree, crypto market needs so many different segments to cater to different classes, rich people can come with perfect products like bitcoin and poor and middle people can come to altcoins, expiry date won't be long and risky but save quite a lot of money, even some rich people choose altcoins to limit the risky cost of repairing expensive products like bitcoin. Altcoins are also not a completely inferior product, they just lack a reputable establishment and are relatively diverse, users may not know the right choice but when determined well, they will definitely participate in the long term.
I disagree that bitcoin is for big capital people, its long term project and it will make you profit in the long run. I do agree that there is a good amount of money to be made on altcoins if you are brand new to it but then there is the fact that bitcoin will be more safe investment as well. So, just keep your money in bitcoin and wait a decade if you have to and you have a ton of money.

I am not saying altcoins do not make more money, when you look at the top returns its always altcoins and if you can find one that will give you that type of return you can make a lot more money, and people who are not wealthy look into those because they need to make a lot more money and 2x is not enough to be rich. However do not forget that people who are looking into those are also the people who may find some shitcoins as well, which is why altcoins are riskier, whereas bitcoin is at least guaranteed.

This is so true!

Majority had been saying that Dogecoin is a shit one? They havent realized that it does really have that utility and it wont be accepted nor be used if it was shit on the first place.

The only thing happens is that when this meme coin had gained much hype and interest then those coin creators do make out even more shitty ones which doesnt really have relevance at all.

Buying alts is diversification and of course you would be needing to spot out on which one would be worth not just those pump and dumps.

I always liked ethereum because since my beginig in crypto in 2017 i've seen many good projects and tokens in the ethereum network and i ve seen how powerfull it is on top of that its utilities aside from being an investment asset i think the main reason to choose a currency is the technology and usecases.

technology that developted by dev team should be our concer, did this technology overcome the problems that occur in previous project or not? usually new project want to make previous project perfect by developting some feature and also build ecosystem in crypto market so its native token will have usecase or utility. Without this factors we could called it as shit projects.

Bitcoin is for everyone and even how small the amount is, They deserve to hold some of it. It's true that bitcoin is a good long-term investment and there are very good altcoins that can match bitcoin potential in terms of investment. But day by day new coins are coming and there are many coins that are becoming less and less valuable because of how weak their foundation is. We should avoid that kind of altcoins if we want to invest in an altcoin that is on par with bitcoin. ETH is a very good choice in my opinion if you want a worthy altcoin.

Risk-taking on shitcoins is out of the line, Quick rich schemes are the ones we should avoid in this crypto space.

if these alts can make me money I will buy it, even if it has a name of a poo or something.

Doesn't matter if you want to buy bitcoin only, but why just buy bitcoin when you can buy and sell alts and sell for more bitcoin!?

It's normal to miss opportunities when starting something. Certainly, the BTC is the first option for everything that it's and has shown so far. Altcoins involve a greater risk, although several projects have technology, some applications and strong communities, even so, compared to BTC, they can't detach themselves from the price movements that occur with BTC. You would need to do some research and study and understand that applications are not always synonymous with success, one of the main factors is the user base ie the community.

bitcoin or altcoin are worth to buy if we collect the correct coins in our bag.  most of major altcoin are good long term investment if strong to hold it and not panic when market suddenly crash. the thing that make our portofolio bad was our mentality when facing uncertain market, we were panic and sold everyhing meanwhile our bag full of good project.

Not most of the altcoins are good to hold. If you're saying that most of them are then you're just putting trashes in your bag with all of those. There are worthy altcoins but they're not all of them. It's good to have bitcoin and if you want to diversify with some altcoins.
Then you have to choose what are the best of them all and you don't have to add all of them because only a few of them are worth to hold, specially if you're long term.

Therefore when you want to invest for the long term, then see from all sides, USECASE Utility fundamental community etc.

before buying a coin other than bitcoin I recommend doing research first of the coin you want to buy so you can avoid buying the wrong coin and it will only keep you stuck at high prices because after buying there is a dump, in my opinion other coins that still have potential to make a profit if bought and stored for the long term are BNB and Ethereum.
This should be your normal practice every time you deal with the market, you do analyze before investing. The answer to OP is yes but it depends on the altcoins you are looking for. We should not focus on Bitcoin alone because there are so many opportunities beyond that coin so don’t limit yourself buying one coin. Deal with the legit altcoins, do invest the money you afford to lose and you’re good to go just remember the first step, analyze.

This kind of question has an obvious answer depends on how you look at the other cryptocurrencies that are top on the cryptomarket. However, most of them if you invest right now have only a little amount of return if they ever increase their price in these few months. unlike the one that has only emerge which has some promising roadmap and a legit developer can give you a huge amount of income if you are just persistent and patient to hold it for years. Just like those current top altcoins in the crypto market, they started from zero to something highly valued.

you dont need to collect money equivalent to what price the 1 btc has because that was hard and it will be hard for btc to go down deep .
what you need to do is buy what you can afford . having some btc is better than not having any .
btc is the most important coin in crypto and there are less complaints with btc than in eth . its important to buy a coin because of its technology or utility and not because the coin is in the news because its being hyped .

I'll buy coins because of the following consideration...
*Market history
*Volume
*Exchanger
*Feedback

I don't rely on the news because most of them are scripted and nonsense. What I did is to analyze the market trend, a lot of things can be changed around and manipulation is one factor.
If you have Bitcoin and Ethereum that will be a good choice.

If you have set yourself the task of making money on the crypt, then it will be difficult for you to achieve such a goal without trading altcoins. It is the increased volatility of altcoins that gives us the opportunity to increase our deposit by tens of percent, while the price of BTC changes by 3-5%.

Each cryptocurrency has advantages and disadvantages.
One of the advantages of Bitcoin is its nature as a crypto currency, with an increasingly sophisticated Hash Rate (level of complexity of cryptographic algorithms), public trust is also increasingly guaranteed to avoid risks such as counterfeiting.
Then if we look at the drawbacks of Bitcoin, it is speculative (in terms of value). Its value is determined by the number of people or business units that accept Bitcoin. If more and more people use it, its value will continue to increase. On the other hand, if it is less, the implication is that the selling price will fall.
Likewise with other cryptos such as ETH, XRP, BCH, LTC and so on.
So before buying Cryptocurrencies, it would be nice if we first learned about the crypto.

If a person likes to risk, have appropriate trading analytics skills, then why not buy altcoins, as they can make someone more wealthy in a period of time, shorten than Bitcoin will need. I have divided crypto in two parts for myself. Bitcoin - it will take long period of time to become richer. Altcoins - becoming richer wont take much time, but it is way more risky. For me it is stability versus time. And you cant choose both options. Everyone chooses his own path.

Yes of cause. When I started cryptocurrency trading I actually started trading more Altcoins than Bitcoin but the only thing was we first needed to buy Bitcoin to now buy the Altcoins because it wasn't like now that we have even Fiat buy options. Altcoins are good to buy too but you must know which ones so that you don't get hung up.

Of course, the purchase is based on the utility of the token. The team behind the project, as well as the technology and development prospects of the coin. All top coins are great long term investment. And personally, I think that it is very promising to have the first ten or more cryptocurrencies from the coinmarketcap list in your portfolio.

if you don't have enough capital to buy BTC then you can buy 0.5 BTC or buy other cryptos that do have good prospects because there are also many good coins to invest besides BTC. You can choose long term investment or short term investment. if you really want a long-term investment then you have to be more patient to wait until the price is high. I suggest if you want to try investing then you can choose short-term investments. choose a coin that is good and stable enough in the market so that it can minimize losses. investing in crypto can be profitable if we can be patient and more careful in making decisions to sell assets owned.

You don't need to buy 1BTC at once, you can buy any amount that you can afford although it is only around $50.
And about Ethereum, this is the altcoin, alternative coins. there are so many altcoins. But yeah, if we are a beginner, better to think very carefully and learn at first smartly before investing.
Bitcoin is the king of crypto, and there are also some promising altcoins such as Ethereu. we can also see the rising price of ETH following BTC.

I am personally trading and investing BTC, but also trading and investing some on altcoins (but of curse top coins to minimize the risks).

Just remember not to buy any coin that comes your way becausewe have a handfulof shitcoins, you need to do some research  and look at some charts if you can and also see were this coin is listed and you will get a worthy altcoin to invest in.

If you are not buying other coins then you are losing an opportunity to gain more profits from other coins, it's highly advisable to not put all your eggs in one basket, yes Bitcoin is good but it's not profitable at all times and there are times that other coins are profitable while Bitcoin is dipping and besides exploring some coins gives you knowledge on how far the technology have gone.

Yes of course, yesterday I bought RABBIT tokens for a few dollars and now the profit is more than 1000%. So in my opinion buying cryptocurrencies other than Bitcoin is still worth it. The point is to learn in advance the token you want to buy and its future prospects.
We all do our best research on bitcoin before investing in any altcoins. You shouldn't forget about the probability of altcoins which altcoins numbers are 10k. As numbers are high, chances are also high. I also believe in altcoins chances because of so much profit. I can mention so many names, but we're all lucky to choose Rabbit coins.

altcoins can be a very good alternative for profit, we can take advantage of market volatility with altcoins to maximize profits. If btc is effective for the long term, then altcoins can be used for short to medium term investments. just look at there are many projects that can achieve profits of up to hundreds of percent in just a short time. what is needed is carefulness in choosing a project, and also luck. By dividing the portfolio, it can increase profit opportunities and reduce risk because we don't put eggs in one basket.

Good question OP I think only 20% or less of all investors that are buying based on utility and tokenomics most crypto buyers are for speculations and quick profit thats what I can see especially newbies in crypto they really dont care about its uses, fundamentals etc,  they are looking if they can profit 100x in just 5 days lol.

I agree many investors want quick profit and they are going to pick a short term project that will likely give them profit than projects that will take some time for them to yield profit, but it's the long term profit that will guaranty your profit, these short term projects that are considered high risk are very risky especially those on the decentralized markets where liquidity providers can pull out liquidity, and will leave you a worthless coin.

Diversifying your portfolio is indeed a smart choice when it comes to investments.
However, one should really assess each coin that he wants to get involved with.
Aside from btc, of course, there are other alts that are worth looking at.
Just take for example ETH or BNB, which for me are very worthy to consider to be included in your portfolio.
Make sure that they have strong use case and active development. And you need to keep up with their updates.
Because if a project is quiet for very long time, that's not a very good sign as they may have abandoned the project already.

Almost every (other than those shitcoins and clone coins) crypto currency was made with different use cases. You can't compare any of those. But as you say that you cannot afford bitcoin then because its price is high maybe you consider to buy a little amount of it, you can also benefit in gaining profits not that big but surely your money will be back. In addition to Bitcoin, there are many other good currencies, but not altcoins are worth investing in. You can first understand the situation of altcoins. Some altcoins are deceptive. If you invest, the most important thing is that you have enough funds and patience to choose a better altcoin. A short-term decline does not make much sense. do not worry. Investing in anything is risky, so be sure to keep your mindset.

Bitcoin is the best investment currency. It has withstood various suppression tests and has been around for the longest time. Bitcoin's perfect technology has been recognized by many people and can profit from it, and it is relatively safe.  Recently, various altcoins have continued to appear, and some people have made a lot of profits, but not all altcoins can bring benefits. Before investing in altcoins, you must first research them to reduce the risk of loss. You can choose to diversify your investment and invest money in multiple currencies to reduce the instability of future returns.

Definitely, right. The majority of the altcoins are worthless and risky for investment but despite this situation, many were still able to manage and find good investment among the thousand shitcoins. They are making a profit and that happens because they conduct research, explore the market and trust the project they invest in.

But if we are not sure what we are doing, what we invest, that surely would end at loss and frustration.

Altcoins are a good thing just like bitcoin, when you look at the current prices bitcoin and ethereum, almost everyone says it's too late to buy bitcoin or ethereum when they think price is cheap, you will repeat this again when the bitcoin price is $100k, or the ethereum price is $15k, we are not too late because of the opportunity to profit 10x could happen again.
We can't predict the market to be 100% accurate. but some people have to think realistically. the market has reached such a long and very strong rally. the dump happened but the market still looks strong. we're not at the bottom yet, so the potential for many predictions is bound to lead to a deeper decline. we don't know how the market will get ATH again in such a short time. which I believe the market can still benefit from short-term trading and investment.

The term investing by itself explains what his intentions are given the context information I guess? He obviously talks about investing for profit. Platform usage seems to not be part of his considerations. Diversification works in crypto during a bull market because altcoins pump harder than bitcoin, but in a bear market you are better off just loading up on BTC because for the same reasons altcoins drop harder than bitcoin. So before you decide to buy other coins, you have to research if we are currently in a bull or bear market.

There are many factors to consider when buying cryptocurrency, such as the application functions brought by the currency, global or market circulation, currency popularity, user consensus, security audits, etc. You can buy cryptocurrency without considering a single factor. I think The most important point of cryptocurrency is consensus, but consensus is based on the application landing and circulation or rarity, and it is very safe to pass audits, just as everyone is optimistic that Bitcoin can reach a height of 60,000 US dollars is the source of users. Consensus and confidence in future appreciation. If you are optimistic about the future and development of Bitcoin, I think this is a good opportunity.

It's worth it mate, but make sure before you buy you will make research because that's the most important to avoid scam. Wherein don't just buy because you see a good testimonial and someone's saying it's a good project than other trusted projects in the market. Because mostly new projects nowadays is paying for promoters so be aware and make you own research instead, for example if it's listed already in any reliable exchanges, and the volume is more important as well and the total of holder.
So remember this thing. Make TA as well in the chart of the coin to assure you are in the right timing when it comes buying wherein in order to make good profits afterwards..

if you want to buy coins other than bitcoin then I suggest you to look at the conditions of the exchange, when the conditions of the exchange place are red because many coins have collapsed then it is definitely the right moment to buy altcoins that have potential and have high trading volume, while if it returns green then you can sell it for a profit.

Or maybe just ignore the exchanges other than the ones who've been around for a long time? I am talking about Bittrex, and Binance, for those not really into Coinbase and stuff (or like me who cannot even really access those types of exchanges because of location).

I think coins themselves are not really good on whichever exchanges but yeah, if they list on Coinbase,,, they will probably be around for a while.

Of course Yes. Investing in different cryptocurrency including bitcoin is a good idea if you want to have a good return. But it is all depends on what altcoins you are going to buy and how long you are going to invest on it? If you want to hold for long term, I think Ethereum, XRP, BNB, and LTC are good. But much better to make your own research and study about such coins before buying. Bitcoin alone can't give you huge profit if you have just small capital. Investing is risky and in order to gain profit, you should take the risk.

To be honest..there are hundreds of potential crypto tokens/coins that can benefit you apart from Bitcoin...

but Bitcoin is more recommended. last year was the moment when all cryptocurrencies fell and if we compare this year, almost all cryptocurrencies have increased in price by 5x-20x. I currently hold several altcoins such as ethereum, bnb, trx and matic because I believe in their potential for the next few years.

If you only rely on bitcoin, of course it will be difficult to profit in the short term, altcoins always promise a bigger profit than bitcoin, bitcoin will be difficult to reach 10x price but altcoins are easy to reach 10x even in a month.
What altcoin can reach 10x in one month? try to mention it and after that try to see the price of Bitcoin in 2019 until early 2021, whether the price of Bitcoin has reached 10x or even 20x, because only people who just woke up say that, because Altcoins will only pump well if Bitcoin market is in good shape, you can see an example now where the average Altcoin is declining while Bitcoin is experiencing a decline in the market, so wash your face and see what happens in the market before you say such things. ;D :D
Altcoins are only profitable if they have bigger utility case in their community but if the altcoins you are holding are just an ordinary coin without high potentials to increase its value in the future, then you will not really bound to make good profits.

However, bitcoins are always profitable no matter how dump its value, it will always come up surging with new heights. This comes the advantage of bitcoin, it will always recover even how low its value. So most of the investors prefer to invest in bitcoin because even if its quite expensive compared to altcoins, the returns will always worth the wait.

You can invest as much as you want in altcoins but be careful with money management before deciding on the ratio per coin. At least 20% of the investment portfolio has to be promising altcoins and you should check the profitability of the investments every month for changing it. Instead of going all-in BTC, I prefer to divide risks based on the future potential that is different in each case.

There are hundreds of alternative cryptocurrencies, whichever you will invest is your decision. After making a concrete investment decisions, buy the planned altcoins in small steps so you can change your portfolio if something goes wrong on short term basis. Unless you are looking for small gains on capital go to invest in small marketcap altcoin for getting higher return on the investment.

Said this before so many times. Potential is easy. Every single thing you create has potential, even if you just woke up one day and randomly put out a coin. Potential is not what you look at but achievement. If there is no product, no accomplishment,,, just a coin? Just some cheap tokenomics? Then you have nothing BUT potential.

well, sometimes I buy coins because of the utility. For example, I often buy coins on a CEX to reduce the fees from my withdrawals. besides BTC and ETH, you can see how useful BNB can be, and currently Binance is developing a BSC that will most likely drive the price of BNB even higher. however, it's worth buying the coin because of its utility . it's just, always do deep research, because the example I use is a coin that I think is equivalent to Ethereum.
It is a need to look at the utility case of the coin which is highly recommended. I honestly don't spend a lot of time in the market digging which coin is profitable and has huge potentials in the future because it was clear and obvious that the leading altcoins are worth buying. Instead of digging more, I'd rather invest in those top altcoins ETH and BNB as an example.

It would be just a pump and dump of a social group/circle that could do that although describing it as a social circle seems small to even manipulate price of something big. It won't happen to Bitcoin due to how expensive it is right now plus the market value.
Could happen for newer projects though.

We can't deny that many altcoins are more profitable than Bitcoins but if we are talking about investing for a long-term goal, that we need to choose those on the top 10 altcoins. But for me, I share my capital most on Bitcoin compared to altcoins and I'd never spread my funds to many altcoins as I was just currently holding BTC and ETH while the market is not really a good position. But when bullish has come, it is best to invest in new projects as these will mostly pump more than what we expect, x1000 or even more because of hypes and this is not happening to the old coins even in Bitcoin.

The technology behind the project and the utility is of utmost importance because it's what wise investors will be looking at before they invest their money, the news can come later but the developers should focus long term so the project can build support and community it will eventually get in the market and have a good spot there.

In addition to Bitcoin, the digital currencies I currently hold include Sushi and Monero, especially XMR.
I have held it for a long time, because XMR is the leader of the anonymous currency family, and Monero is an independent virtual currency. It is not a branch of Bitcoin, and it circumvents Bitcoin's design flaws and becomes more private and decentralized.
Monero is positioned to realize anonymous digital currency payment and transfer.
This year, my price is almost US$211, but it is still more than US$200. Although I regret that I did not sell at a high point, it does not affect my long-term holding.

So, instead of putting most of my portfolio to Bitcoin i put my investment on Altcoin that have tech and strong community.
returns from altcoins are indeed greater. Moreover, altcoin ownership can use smaller capital. Of course, it will be more interesting.
but for those who have big capital, relying on the little hype that bitcoin creates in the market alone can make big profits. but we know how risky both are. altcoins and bitcoins have the same risk.

You can definitely buy other cryptocurrencies instead of Bitcoin in the hope of making more profit. A look at the coinmarketcap shows that some ultra coins suddenly go up and make several times the profit. However, in the case of long-term investment, all this cryptocurrency is not really a good idea. As Bitcoin is one of the most popular and accepted types of cryptocurrency, it is a medium for long-term investment even though it has a low return on investment. So while investing in other cryptocurrencies is more profitable, Bitcoin will be a relatively safe investment medium considering its acceptability, market volume and security.

Definitely! Have you ever heard of Ethereum? 😂 Not a financial advice 😉.
Ethereum is worth it in the sense that you've already invested in bitcoin.

In the past Bitcoin history someone said, "buy at least $1 of Bitcoin and hold for years." He didn't know the exact things to happen in the future but his prediction happened. May be my words is consider to buy Bitcoin and Ethereum though it is expensive now. But it is possible to become more expensive in the future as we all know the factor of Bitcoin and Ethereum in cryptocurrency ecosystem.
That's davincji15 and he surely said the same words and posted it on youtube and he's right. That's why buying bitcoin at any rate right now is a must.

Personally, I often buy some altcoins that I think are promising and promising, and some are more suitable for short-term holding. Although the volatility is large and the risk is large, it will bring me considerable benefits. When buying other tokens, you must conduct research to reduce its risk, because some altcoins are rubbish coins.

Not all altcoins are good investments, extra research is needed first to get them, because most altcoins are created today just to enrich developers.
the crypto market is very volatile, if you have enough money it is better to invest in altcoins that are already in the top 20 coinmarketcap only. however, there is no guarantee that each of your investments will be successful within the time frame you specify.

Not really for short term for me. The altcoin I hold was already more than 2 years and although the price had gone up and down significantly I'm still holding because of some reasons like I'm staking and playing the games developed on it. So it must depend on the kind of investor.

I'm sure there are also users who bet for ADA for a long time which some of them bought while the price is less than $0.05 which they are also staking like the reason for investing ETH as well.

yes you are right, the altcoins released today are mostly just to enrich the developers. they just want to raise money from the token sale and disappear after. this always happens and makes altcoins seen as shitcoins. but despite all that altcoins that are in the top 20 list are still worth investing in.

Bitcoin as the mainstream currency of cryptocurrency, is demanded and recognized by more people, has better value, and at the same time brings higher benefits. As the value of Bitcoin increases and more altcoins appear, there will be many speculators speculating on altcoins because the price of Bitcoin is too high. This kind of high-profit return is bound to have higher risks. Most altcoins are created to obtain more benefits from investors. They do not have perfect technology and are easily attacked and disappeared.

It's not like the only Bitcoin is profitable there are many other altcoins that have good potential to give good profit like BTC. It depends on the utility and the supportive community matters a lot in deciding the value of the coins. Many of us did not take the cryptos seriously when heard for the first time but lately, most of them repent by not taking it seriously but it does not matter even I believe one can buy now too because this market has to go long way ahead as I feel.

If you want to hold it for a long time, it is more appropriate to invest in Bitcoin or Ethereum. They have a longer development time, and it is better to rely on sound technical support for security.
If you make short-term profits, you can invest in altcoins. The initial cost of altcoins is low, and you can get high profits in the short term. However, altcoins are very risky, and volatility indicators should be used to analyze market trends before investing to reduce risk losses.

So my question is this which is more important factor to consider before buying a coin, do you buy because of the technology of the project and what it has to offer, the utility of the token or the news?

My opinion: You mentioned the key factors already; buying because of the technology of the project and what it has to offer. As for news, it depends on what type of news. I would say the coin utility is of topmost priority. For example, I am familiar with a strong project Seascape Network(website: game.seascape.network). Although Seascape Network has its tokens $pCWS and $CWS, why do I consider purchasing it a good investment? It is because they focus on incentivizing their community. They provide blockchain game where users can profit from, provide 172% APR on stake, 3x leverage system for $pCWS trade on WOWSwap and so on. They have established tons of partnerships to widen their token usage base. I perceive you would agree with me that knowing such about a project gives confidence knowing that risk is minimal rather than purchasing a coin with so much appraisal in the news without focus which often ends up in a rugpull after listing.

But since my discovery of this forum I have found members who believe different. Looking back I see I have lost on both fronts and wasted an opportunity. So my question is this which is more important factor to consider before buying a coin, do you buy because of the technology of the project and what it has to offer, the utility of the token or the news?

That's the common misconception of crypto.  I can't buy bitcoin because it is too much.  Just buy a fraction of bitcoin.  I would always recommend you start with bitcoin and go from there.  If your portfolio does not have any bitcoin in it then it's a very unbalanced portfolio.

ETH is quite cheap today @ $1955 so it's already a surplus and don't miss buying it.

I believe that cryptocurrency has to have a real use case or utility in real life so it can be massively adopted in the near future. It can go further if it has fundamental or moreover a great technology behind it. A project with only a great technology itself can be successful if it can give groundbreaking in the crypto world. I know a uniqueness will bring curiosity from the investors and hype at the end. All of these qualities if combined with momentum made by the news will bring massive success to the project. So, I'm not a fan of meme coin or a pump and dump project. I believe in a real project to invest my money.

Bitcoin is a relatively safe investment currency with a long history of development and strong technical support. Investing in Bitcoin and holding it for a long time can get high profits.
Some of the altcoins that have emerged will also bring a lot of benefits in the short term. You can also choose to diversify your investment, investing in Bitcoin and several safer and more reliable altcoins, which can minimize risks.

if your goal is to invest then it's very feasible I think to buy other than bitcoin, but if the goal is to collect bitcoin then buy bitcoin and wait for the highest price to see the estimated value getting bigger.
My advice, if you have a large balance, buy any digital currency that has a low price and has the potential in the future to make a profit !!

If you are speculant, you must choose news for your reason buy token, it is fit to quick enter and fast exit, but for me, i prefer consider the use from token and what kind latest technology inside it as my mid term investment. As i know, hundred of alts have potentially skyrocket in six to twelve months next, you can check it in marketcap web.
If you long hodler, BTC still the best for long investment because mostly alts and coins has end paired with BTC, indirectly it will increase the volume of BTC itself, and with increased the volume, accordingly will cause increase price in the market.

Of course, any valuable cryptocurrency can be invested, but when investing, you must see whether it is suitable for the current investment. If you want to do long-term, it is best to buy when the price is relatively low, you can keep it. Wait for its price to gradually increase. If you want to make short-term, swing, then you must analyze it carefully. Don't buy coins at the highest point, and don't blindly believe what others say. When you hold coins, don't be affected by FUD, leading to the sale of value coins in your hand, and thus some losses.

Buying altcoins is very good at the time of pre-sale to get a very large profit, but we must be careful when buying altcoins because many altcoins are also scams.

Personally I stick to the strategy of buying BTC and ETH on a regular basis, but in addition to them I buy different altcoins like BNB. Here it is how I choose projects:
Firstly, I get the idea and decide if it is something innovative and useful. In my opinion only projects with innovative ideas and good marketing campaigns will survive in the future, so we definitely should investigate social media, the idea, docs, partnership and development team before investing.

I am in the habit of looking for good altcoins on the coinmarketcap top-100 table.

Yes it definitely is because although I think that Bitcoin will reach $200k-$300k eventually, there will be other projects that grow from $1 to $1,000 you just have to find them. I have 50% of my holdings in Bitcoin and Ethereum because those are solid invests that will for sure grow. I then have the other 50% dispersed in projects that I think are ready for mass adoption and will grow massively in the span of 5 years. The Alt coins I am holding now are BSC, NEAR, DOT, and ADA although I’m honestly becoming skeptical of ADA. These are the alts I believe will win, I’d love to know what alts others are hodling.

So my question is this which is more important factor to consider before buying a coin, do you buy because of the technology of the project and what it has to offer, the utility of the token or the news?

Although Bitcoin is the best crypto out there with outstanding features which has made it a point of attraction for most big cooperations, there are still some altcoins which are worth buying.
Starting from the second best altcoin which is Ethereum, everyone who is within the crypto space can see that, Ethereum is one of a kind when it comes to smart contracts and DApp, even to the extent most upcoming blockchains can't be compared to Ethereum; therefore seeing a coin like this with such features shows that Ethereum is worth buying.
Another which I can say is worth buying is BNB, owing to the fact it is a coin of the best exchange in the crypto space which is Binance.
The truth is that, only a very few project team are actually working towards a brighter future, a lot which started well are no where now, some are even dead or the team are already out of ideas.
So to answer your question, there are very few altcoins which are worth buying while a whole lot are just scams.

In terms of features, Bitcoin isn't particularly multifaceted, but it brings to the table what other coins will never be able to bring to the table and that is organic growth. Bitcoin grew organically without much public attention. It built its user base and its supporter base over many years until it was really noticed by the broader public. That is very healthy for the distribution and for the ecosystem as a whole. Not too many financial interests were involved in the decision making process because nobody really know where this is going to go. Today if a promising project is launched it's all eyes on that project, financial interests involved, manipulation right from the start and so on and so forth.

Yes, but all the cryptocurrencies you mention are those that follow the Bitcoin market very often so it is also worth choosing as a good investment choice for the long term even though Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency that must be considered.
It's always worth to take bitcoin as your head investment in cryptocurrencies. If you want to expand your investments through altcoins, you don't choose any altcoin that you wishes to buy. There's still a basis why you're going to buy those altcoins.
A friendly reminder that don't fall for the hype that's being done with altcoins.

In fact, buying new coins has many risks and other things to be aware of. I believe more in old coins when investing for a long time, I think. just wait for the right opportunity to buy, wait for the price to be cheap again and hold it until the price reaches an all time high price
Yes, for people who have extra capital and money that he doesn't spend on other jobs, it's definitely better to buy good coins at a low price to get future profits when the market returns to the next bullrun.
We are struggling to become people who have a lot of money.  try to imagine if yesterday you bought bitcoin or ethereum when it was down yesterday and sold it now you must have made a profit without having to wait long and the opportunity was missed

do you buy because of the technology of the project and what it has to offer, the utility of the token or the news?

I prepared for this one "do you buy because of the technology of the project and what it has to offer" everytime I bought one's project, I always consider the technology and innovation they've offered, that is the must when you want to invest in every project.

For long-term investments, bitcoin is still a hunt for many people because apart from its good volatility, bitcoin is also believed by many people to be able to change their future in a better direction when holding and holding it now.
and if you say you can't afford to buy 1 btc actually if you really want to buy bitcoin actually you don't have to buy 1 btc if you don't have enough money, you just have to buy it in installments because I think this can also be done. but if you want to look the other way, indeed in altcoins there are some pretty good coins like eth and bnb besides polka you can also consider it.
but my advice is still in bitcoin even though it's not 1btc nor is it very profitable if you want to be really serious about investing there

Bitcoin is still the most recommended but you can still choose other crypto coins, that's your right
I've also noticed that some altcoins have good potential, which is enough to keep up with Bitcoin's performance

examples are ethereum and binance. you notice that these two altcoins have great potential
but if you have other altcoins that you monitor can give you more profit than you invest in Bitcoin then take that risk to buy that altcoin

Of course, investing in other cryptocurrencies besides Bitcoin is worth it. Altcoins are distinguished by their great functional variety and have already brought a lot of useful things to the people on this market. Bitcoin is a versatile coin and is not capable of such useful variety. In addition, you cannot store everything in one basket, this is the basic wisdom of all markets. As long as bitcoin as a whole is growing in value, it is popular. If its growth stops, then its superpopularity will immediately disappear. All this needs to be taken into account, and not only this.
There are now quite a few promising altcoins to invest in. The choice is up to each of us.

I rather buy stable altcoins than to invest my money in Bitcoin only. There is a much profits that can be made by investing in altcoins than Bitcoin. Some altcoin has the possibility to triple double your capital with the space of days which can not happen in Bitcoin because of the high level it has attained. Altcoins like stable coins are very stable and there prices do not fluctuate anyhow like Bitcoin which can give lose or profits within the space of hours with high detriment to one's account. This is why Bitcoin investors should be smart to know when to buy or sell because the market can change value at any given time

Bitcoin is more like a precious asset, it is digital gold. It does not have what the innovative Ethereum is, such as smart contracts, the creation of tokens, decentralized applications (Dapps) and the (POS) that it will very soon have.
To invest in a cryptocurrency there must be innovation, uses in real life, developments, a verified team and partners.

But having a very specific focus on a particular niche can also be similar to a feature so to say. Bitcoin due to its focus on being digital gold for now is better at being digital gold than any other cryptocurrency out there in the moment. Ethereum may be a good investment, but it is meant to be used for a lot of other purposes as well. As a passive income stream as well of course once the whole staking functionality goes live.

if in my opinion before buying tokens other than bitcoin or ethereum I will first see the development of the token and also the interest in the market whether the token has a good long term..
because without it all we will not be able to know in more detail the movement of the token, and also have to often look at the market exchanges that have good movements that I will buy..

What do you mean by saying if you can't afford it? You can also buy fractions of a Bitcoin, that is no problem at all. By now more and more people start calculating in fractions like mBTC anyway because Bitcoin is way too expensive to calculate things in whole Bitcoins. That was also the intention Nakamoto had in mind when he allowed for a pretty big divisibility of Bitcoin. Other coins can make sense if they complement your portfolio somehow. I don't think it makes much sense to hold Bitcoin + Litecoin because they are very similar except for some minor parameters that have been changed.

The technology used in a project is one of the factors affecting the choice of people of course. If the project seems really innovative and aims to solve a real-world problem, I start trusting it more than others honestly. So, you shouldn't just think of investing into Bitcoin. You can also do a good research about various projects and give them a chance too.

"You can't afford it"? It is not a must that you must buy 1 btc, btc is divisible and as such you can buy with as little as you can afford. The same fund you intend to use and buy other crypto can also be use to buy btc.

Obviously yes and no doubt about it. We have best coins in the market with large volume and best projects. Analyse and pick the best coins which value is less than a dollar I would say. Just split your investment into best coins across. We have doge, Matic, Woo, Xrp, Xlm, Eth and etc. Yes keep yourselves updated on updates of the coin you invested.

bitcoin is the king of all coins, but don't put other coins aside, especially ethereum which of course has its own advantages.

now you can learn from your mistakes in the past that made you miss many opportunities, and start with your enthusiasm and good and measurable investment goals, because investing is not enough with assumptions but keep learning and looking for accurate references to achieve your goals.

I recommend you to invest in the top coins on the exchange first.

You can get benefits by buying and investing in any cryptocurrency. Compared with other cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin has a long development time, a large transaction volume, and is more secure. Long-term investment in Bitcoin is a good choice. You can also choose to diversify your investment and allocate funds to invest in a variety of cryptocurrencies. Even if the price of one currency you invests drops and you lose, you may also profit from the other currencies you invest in, which can reduce your risk of loss.

The thing to watch out for is security. Check if the exchange offers two-factor authentication (2FA) security which is standard security.
Then, look at the type of 2FA used, there is Google authenticator, Authy and Yubikey. Each exchange has a different level of security, for example exchanges such as Remitano, which is famous for its peer to peer system, already uses Google Authenticator security to increase user account security and minimize account hacks.

The technology on offer and use cases are the main factors to consider when investing in crypto.
Only coins that have technology that can be implemented in the real world will actually survive and be adopted by the wider community.
And Ethereum is an example of an Altcoin that has these two criteria.

You can buy bitcoin with small price too. Its not necessary to buy 1 bitcoin. Similarly Eth can also be purchased in small quantity like 0.1 Eth almost 260$ .
Bitcoin and etherium is always best choice to invest but there are many top coins you can invest to get maximum profit like ADA Cardano which can prove better coin in future. Similarly XRP which releasing smart payments system. Research on it and i hope you will find your answer.

It is always good to have BTC investment, but also in highs, normally when BTC goes into a bullish trend the alts follow that same direction, causing them to rise enormously, now the trend so BTC goes down, there are certain alts that are rising in price, such is the case of these:

Bitcoin (BTC) price has recovered from its recent $37,500 low and the digital asset's run back toward the $40,000 mark spurred bullish activity from many altcoins.

Data from Cointelegraph Markets Pro and TradingView shows that the top gainers over the past 24-hours are XYO Network (XYO), Saffron Finance (SFI) and Quant (QNT).

Of the entire list that is here, the token that I have seen the most with a higher success rate is AXIE, because through the game it is gaining many more followers, apart from combining speculators + gamers, caombination is explosive, because it is synonymous with movement of a lot of money.

For me yes it is worth buying other cryptocurrencies, but make sure you research about what you want to buy because most other cryptocurrencies have no value nor future, you will surely lose your money if that happens. You can always buy those altcoins and search them in the coinmarketcap. Etherium is one worth to buy if you want to invest in a long term and make good profits for a long term.

Of course it's worth it if you choose the right altcoin, because the price can definitely increase higher than increases in the price of Bitcoin, so you can definitely get a bigger profit from Bitcoin if altcoin that you invest is successful, but of course the risk of investing in altcoin is definitely more bigger than Bitcoin, so if you don't dare to take the risk, then it's better for you to invest in Bitcoin, because investing in Bitcoin is safer than you investing in altcoin (less risk).

Anyway, as you said making sure to at least participate a little bit in this innovative technology makes a lot of sense as there is plenty of room for it to grow.

still worth it as long as you buy the right project and have development on that project apart from just listing on the exchange.
usually projects like this take a while to develop but will be safe.

I'm not sure about development part but I still think right exchange usually helps projects too. I have realised that when projects get listed on top exchange such as Okex, Binance and Coinbase always have a way of attracting masses irrespective of what they have to give to the everyone and crypto entirely. Shiba for example, the day it got listed on Binance exchange, the whole Ethereum chain became the busiest so far in it history. That's what exchange adds to this project when are in right place.

In my opinion, besides Bitcoin, altcoins are very worth buying such as ETH, BNB, TRX, LTC. many people switch to buying altcoins when the price of Bitcoin experiences a high price increase. My advice, a more important factor to consider before buying another cryptocurrency is that the concept offered by the development team is really promising in the future. Ethereum example. One of the reasons it is worth investing in Ethereum is the increasing use of Blockchain technology. Ethereum has introduced dApps and smart contracts that allow users to conduct transactions without intermediaries. This attracts more and more successful crypto traders. This is because blockchain technology facilitates online payments, loan distribution, and commodity trading.

I understand most of your list but why would you have BTC and LTC within one and the same portfolio? Isn't Litecoin doing the exact same thing as Bitcoin? And what about Tron? Is Tron able to compete with Ethereum and Binance Smart Chain? To me it more and more seems that Tron will have an extremely hard time in establishing itself as a viable platform against the others. It may surely pump regardless, that is true, but from a technical point of view where is the sweet spot for Tron here?

You can invest as much as you want in altcoins but be careful with money management before deciding on the ratio per coin.
and There are hundreds of alternative cryptocurrencies, whichever you will invest is your decision. After making a concrete investment decisions, buy the planned altcoins in small steps so you can change your portfolio if something goes wrong on short term basis. Unless you are looking for small gains on capital go to invest in small marketcap altcoin for getting higher return on the investment.

If you want to make a true and profitable investment, you have to do everything, for example project technology, use of tokens and news. These three things must be met, to see if the coin is in good condition or not.

Bitcoin is an investment that uses large capital, almost generally this is not done by the lower middle class, even today many lower middle class people are starting to try to invest in Ethereum, besides the price is not too expensive, the condition of ethereum itself tends to be stable and profitable for bought.

Of course, you are not restricted to investing in bitcoin only. The only thing you will need to be on the look out for is shitcoins and scam projects were you could lose your invested money.

About the worthiness of other coins, well bitcoin is number one coin but its gains are not as flexible as how altcoins react on the  market. Afaik altcoins have better returns than bitcoin because their price is much lower and people are easily attracted to them for investment.

Just like me you also missed your chance to bag some cheap Ethereum, buying other coins isn't a bad idea if you ask me though, cause I the crypto space it's always good to diversify your portfolio, it's good to have other coins but just remember to make sure bitcoin has the highest share, cause bitcoin sets the trend for other coins, altcoin won't pump if bitcoin doesn't make any move upward, also buy reputable coins not shitcoins.

to increase profit opportunities, it is indeed better to divide your assets into several parts in altcoins as well. but it should really be noted that the altcoin you choose has good potential, such as strong fundamental support, and a good ecosystem. The current altcoins are eth and bnb, both of which are showing good progress. moreover eth started implementing his plans towards ethereum 2.0

Yep, diversifying is a proper way to improve the chance to gain bigger profits. Altcoins can increase more significantly than Bitcoin, sometimes it is just in a short time. Many people have gained millions of dollars from altcoins just for several months. But altcoins also have a bigger risk, the price can drop more severely than Bitcoin. Even some altcoins can be dead coins that have no value anymore. It can happen if we choose altcoins carelessly, no research/analysis.

I think it's worth buying because there are many quality altcoins projects with warm community support. Investing in altcoins is also a way to increase your wealth quickly. Of course, you should only invest a part of the asset and have a suitable strategy because altcoins have a very large fluctuation range along with potential risks inside the source code.

In my case I choose to invest in altcoins because the price of bitcoin for me is too costly and I admit that I can't afford to have my 1 bitcoin but so far investing in altcoins was also worth it. I'd still wanted and yeah my ultimate dream is to have even a 1 BTC in my wallet but it seems that it would take for a long time before I can get it. There are also many altcoins today that doing great in the market but of course all we have to do is to make our own research and see what altcoins have a great future ahead.
