Title: YoBit HELP - locked out
Post by: 2FA_lockedout on July 05, 2021, 09:26:58 AM
I need the help of @yobit
Im locked out of my account because 2FA isnt working.
I have a screenshot of my "secret key" and have tried to restore, set phone time to automatic, restart phone. I get a 2FA error every time.

I know my username, login, password, date opened account, date of deposit of ETH, wallet address of deposit, date ETH withdrawal, wallet adrees of withdrawal. I have access to the email i signed up with. I can send funds from that same wallet to prove i have access to it.

I can provide Drivers license with full name (that matches my email address), i can provide passport. I can be called on my Australian mobile emailed in support. I can do a video call and show my ID matches my self on video.

Can @YoBit please help me regain access to my account. I have submitted mulitple support tickets, they say they no longer disable 2FA because of scammer, but i can prove im ME.
It should be obvious who i am to anyone with access to YoBit support email.
Please contact me.
I have also sent my phone number via support.
Thanks,

This is a screen shot i took when signing up. So i 100% know my 2FA is correct. I believe this to be some kinda database error or something. IDK.

This is not Yobit forum, and you posted it in the wrong section.

PS: The reputation of Yobit is not such great to stick with them.

If your 2fa is truly linked to your yobit account, try to check the time on your 2fa device, is it correct with the normal time. When was the 2fa not working? Is it after you restore the 2fa? Or suddenly not working with yobit anymore?

I will advice you not to use 2fa on centralized exchanges if you can not provide kyc, kyc would have helped you but yobit only require email for registration. Why not try exchanges like Binance, if you have large sum of coins, do kyc. And if not trading, move your funds to noncustododial wallet. Not your key not your coin.

If you have a large sum of coins, seek for appropriate advice from your lawyer.

Kyc is still also extremely dangerous for privacy reasons, if you can go completely noncustododial, it would be the best option.

Yobit is a scam OP, your account getting out of being locked out is useless because they are a scam. Best if you move on and go to other places that are much more legitimate. Yobit is frowned upon in this forum. Plus you might get tagged in this forum if you are going to stick with it like the other people who has anything to do with Yobit back then.

I havent used it sense 2018 when i brought some coins. I was a noobie didnt know anything.
The phone is set to auto time.
The phone has been restarted.
I have tried using google authentication & authy.
I cant explain why 2FA isnt working. never had this problem with any other site.

Yes i may need to contact a lawyer, but i hope i can just solve with yobit. happy to prove identity.

I highly suggest that you contact the yobit support email instead of posting here. I don't know if they will even respond here as I see they are not that active in this forum.
I also suggest you to remove your personal details in the post such as your phone number as this may lead to spams or worse scams. If anyone tries to contact you here in this forum, make sure not to provide any personal info man.

Ah! That means you are not trading and you are not making use of the coin on yobit, it also means you hold the coins. You should have sent it to a noncustododial wallet. Not your key not your coin. On noncustododial wallets, you will be able to access your coins with just seed phrase, and passphrase if the words are extended with passphrase.

I will advice you if you have access to all your 2fa backup, check if there is another one that is similar to the one you used on yobit. I noticed yobit users can have 2 or 3 or more accounts because only email is required. Is it only one yobit account you enable 2fa? But, yet, you should not have left your coin on centralized platform.

Thanks. I forget to remove that (i pasted from support email)

I have, support says:
Quote
Recently, hackers have been actively engaged in disabling 2fa in order to steal funds, so we no longer perform this operation (disabling 2fa).If you lose access to your 2fa device, we won\'t be able to disable it, and your balance will be lost!
but i havent lost divice and i still have 2FA secret key backup.

i figure i need to get the attention of someone who isnt a the guy paid doing support tickets, but someone higher up in the company. Anyone have a phone number to call them?

Glad to hear that, move your cryptocurrencies out of yobit into noncustododial wallet to have full control over your coins. You will be able to have access to your coins more easily, just seed phrase will be needed in case of restoration. Although, depending on the one you set up, but the 12 word seed phrase is enough to protect your coins, but you can extend it with passphrase for best safety especially if you are using hardware wallet (passphrase is very important while using hardware like Trezor and must not be forgotten but properly backup offline) and not limited to only hardware wallet but also can be included on any other reputed noncustododial wallet.

Withdraw all your money and avoid using yobit from now on.

You might have been lucky this time, but there are some victims who have not been lucky with the yobit 2FA scam

Read some stories here to see how far yobit can go when they want to rob you.

Withdraw all your funds right away and if there's no need for you to continue discussing about them.

You should lock the thread already.

You are lucky to have safe the 2FA backup code but you need to understand that Yobit is an exchange that shouldn't be trusted even trusted exchange site shouldn't be use as coin storage because "not your keys not your coin" and it will be nice if you follow the advise giving go you and move the coin to no custodial wallet.

Yobit is a scam OP, your account getting out of being locked out is useless because they are a scam.
They might offer scam services, but I've never heard of them intentionally locking a customer out of their account before (though I certainly could have missed a complaint or multiple complaints like that).  When I used to have an account with them, I didn't use 2FA but would frequently forget my password, and I never had trouble recovering it through Yobit.

Having 2FA enabled might change the situation, though, because then you're relying on Yobit's customer service department....and as we all know, they're pretty much a ghost entity.  While I do hope OP can actually get in contact with someone on Yobit's team, I don't have much faith in them.  All I can say is good luck, OP.  Hopefully you can force them into responding to your request somehow.

Edit:

Whoops!  I missed the last posts and didn't see that you'd gotten back in.  Good for you, dude!  Now take the advice from logfiles and get all of your coins off Yobit and either keep them in your custody or transfer them to a reputable exchange if you're planning on trading.  Don't store any coins on any exchange for any significant period of time.  Ever.

I tend to agree with this because until now I have a friend who still using this exchange for quick swapping of his Bitcoin to XRP and send to a local wallet with the purpose of sort anonymity and saving fee when the Bitcoin network is congested.  He told me the reason why until now he still using that exchange site even though he aware that there are a bunch of scams accusations is just because every time he will deposit his Bitcoin it will generate different addresses and until now I didn't hear he has a problem on that exchange.

But IMO, they aren't worth it to trust and store your money there even though OP was very lucky enough because his account was recovered, it still won't encourage me to use them.  They had a bunch of scam services offered and they also a house of shitcoins which is very risky if you're one of their investors.

I'm happy to hear that you were able to gain access to your account, but I strongly want to give you this advice:

never hand over your phone number, documents and location to dismal exchanges sites, they can sell your documents

do you know the owner of yobit? no! so why would you hand your documents to a stranger?

use binance and wallets that you have access to your private key

First time I've actually seen Yobit support do anything of value. ::)

Anyway, I would definitely warn against continuing to use them just to echo the sentiments of others.

Their support is virtually nonexistent and their business model is literally based off a few ponzis that they run (the Rise-Only-Markets) and the listing fees that they charge on crappy tokens. Nobody knows where they are incorporated or if they are even regulated at all.

LOL are you trying to threaten Yobit customers? People are free to use whatever exchange they want and it's not up to a random pinoy member ranked to tell them which exchange they have to use. Why would you be more trustable than everyone else?
2FA_lockedout has recovered his access to his old account not used since 2018 then you were wrong to freely claim it was a scam from them. If you had a bad experience with them, it would be more interesting to share it than to speak like a hater IMO.

Not actually he the first that I've seen, I've been helped there when I couldn't withdraw some altcoins because of their support I was able to get it back with a week of waiting though.  There is not much going on with their exchange these days. But to avoid issues there I didn't use the 2fa nor verify my account. If they didn't mandatorily ask any KYC to your account, you better don't submit anything.

ROM is not ideal to invest, I don't know its details but I've read many times they have to wait for a long time before they could withdraw.

Yobit is known for its unresponsive support.

Yobit is known to be a scammy exchange

Yobit is known about long time altcoin wallet maintenance

Yobit is known on shady promotions and stuffs.

Dont know on why you do end up here.In regards to your situation then its likely that there nothing you can do but to move on.
Proving out something wont help out.

I agree with you.
Just because hackers are abusing the feature to disable 2fa, doesn't mean they have to remove it completely. If a customer can prove he is the real owner of the account then he should be allowed to disable 2fa or at least give him a new secret key.
This just shows how incompetent they are, to say the least. It looks like they are using this as an excuse to lock users accounts and steal their funds.
Luckily, op was able to access his account but this is just an example why we should not store our coins on exchanges no matter how reputable they are.

Yup. Many of us used YoBit a few years back because the crypto scene was like booming and YoBit incorporated some things that weren't prevalent elsewhere such as the chatbox and the probably fair Dice game mode.

Thank goodness we have other alternatives that we could rely on, and not mainly those shitcoins that were the craze back then.

more than 3 years ago when I used yobit, I had a problem with the login, so I sent a ticket to support, unbelievable that they didn't respond, days went by and nothing, weeks went by and nothing, until 3 months later I received the message from support saying that my problem has been resolved. i was shocked, i already knew they never responded to tickets, but i was shocked that they responded to me 3 months later when my issue was resolved the same day i sent the support ticket, it was a mistake i was making typing the password and I managed to solve the problem myself

Why did you still trading on Yobit they are already a known scam and have very bad support.
Well, if you already contacted them wait for weeks I believe they still respond but you will wait for many weeks before they reply to your tickets.

more than 3 years ago when I used yobit, I had a problem with the login, so I sent a ticket to support, unbelievable that they didn't respond, days went by and nothing, weeks went by and nothing, until 3 months later I received the message from support saying that my problem has been resolved. i was shocked, i already knew they never responded to tickets, but i was shocked that they responded to me 3 months later when my issue was resolved the same day i sent the support ticket, it was a mistake i was making typing the password and I managed to solve the problem myself

Actually, 3 months is too much but I have also login issue before but it was resolved in 2 weeks they said that they detected a suspicious login using my email and detects many wrong passwords. That is why their system automatically lock my account for security reason so I think this is the reason for other people or him that is why he is getting an error when trying to login with 2FA.

There is nothing we can do right now if Yobit is totally a scam they won't respond even in a month or so. Only support can help with this kind of issue but expect for months to get a reply from their support.
