Title: What are some interesting ways you've introduced bitcoin to your friends?
Post by: c_atlas on July 05, 2021, 10:22:52 PM
Note to those of you who struggle with reading comprehension: I'm asking how HAVE you done this. Not how DO/CAN you do it. Stick to your personal experience, we're not giving advice, we're telling stories  :)

I like giving out OpenDime bearer instruments like pic related:
https://external-content.duckduckgo.com/iu/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fcryptonist.ru%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2020%2F04%2Fcoinkite-opendime-017.jpg

My technical friends love it, I tell them the funds are theirs if they can move the sats from the stick to their phone, although some of them prefer to keep it on the USB because it gives off a cyberpunk vibe.

I've also brought friends to bitcoin ATMs around my city to show them how easy it is to exchange fiat for BTC, they tend to like that too because it attracts attention to the fact that we're doing something that might seem technically challenging and unusual.

Looking forward to reading about what you guys have done  ;D

When I was mining and bitcoin was much cheaper I would give fractional (Like a 1/10) paper wallet some with short notes on how much it was worth (including the date) and where they could spend it or how to save it. I also framed a few wallets with other money lessons *One Hundred Trillion Dollar notes, silver pieces from when they were worth a dollar---and a dollar.

I have also given many 10$ wallets away.

My daughter watched me mine---(  got her gaming interrupted on occasion when I was messing around with the machines  ) she also got to purchase steam points from time to time with bitcoin.
She has my old car which has a stealthy black matte bitcoin symbol, she gets asked about it... it's not her thing at all.

She bought me a physical Dogecoin for mothers day one year and it's one of the few bits of crypto memorabilia I've kept

I have a number of friends who I have introduced Bitcoin to and explained in a very basic
way "what it is", "how it works" and "how to get it". None have pulled the trigger and committed...

until last week when one of them came into a small bit of financial difficulty, he asked me
about Bitcoin and I asked him if he remembered last April [2020] when I first explained to
him, he said he did and I told him how much of a gain he would have realised since then,
he was shocked! I re-introduced Bitcoin to him.

Because of the bit of difficulty he finds himself in he is liquidating his redundant pension to
solve the issue and putting what is left into Bitcoin!

Sometimes some people need to experience first hand what they have missed out on,
they see risk and are too quick to close the door on a potential opportunity, its never too late though!

From my own experience, I haven't really tried giving out some physical things. More on virtual and learnings for them.
I introduced Bitcoin to my friends by having to educate them and sharing my knowledge, what all I know about Bitcoin and how it works, setting up their first Bitcoin wallet, and how to send Bitcoin to another Bitcoin wallet.

Your friends will always be reminded of you when they hear some news or people talk about Bitcoin. Even if they already heard of Bitcoin somewhere before but if you introduce it to them differently like giving sats, it sticks to their mind as I did to one of my friend, I rarely see him since we are high school friends but when he was in trouble while I was there in our home town, I gave him some funds to buy him a car tire. I asked him to download a wallet app for the funds. A year later I came back, he always sees me as the techie guy to which I'm not.

Same here, I haven't gifted anyone with bitcoin yet to my friends and families. But they know that I'm into bitcoin, so sometimes they will approach me and ask something about it and I'm readily willing to give them information and explain it that they will understand.

But I'm thinking of giving them as a gift this Christmas, maybe in a form of paper wallet and will give instructions on how to protect them.

one person i told 'i quit my job and started trading international currencies'.. the conversation got more detailed where i said the currency is bitcoin. and it led on from there. i gave him some just as free play funds to give it a try

one person was arguing that its not real..  i bought pizza with it. to show it can be used.
and during the 25minute chat showing how its not some lame database but a distributed ledger locking in the data to be unedited. the pizza arrived.
we then chatted more while eating pizza about how secure it is. mining, chaining of blocks, transactions analogy of cheques. mining analogy of cheque clearing houses.. and so on

a relative seen stuff said on facebook. so i gave them the usual warnings that although bitcoin is a real asset, most of the facebook adverts are advertising fake services pretending to manage bitcoin. so i just gave him some.. cash-in-hand to avoid the scam sites offering services

at a few conferences and meetups i said a few basic stuff..
intro to what is bitcoin and blockchains
done the usual Q&A  and had envelopes with paperwallets with small amounts on. and handed them out

best naive analogy to give to the non-technical people is the cheque and batch validation clearing house analogy. where the clearing houses are not centralised
(ofcourse i said it in more detail and more graphics and style, but i wont waffle it all here)

This is definitely NOT the best way, and that I definitely wouldn't recommend this to anyone, but me and my mates are huge eSports enthusiasts, and we like betting small amounts of money on tournaments just for fun. So, what's a good use case? Bitcoin for gambling, of course! Gambling being bad aside, this is the way they understood that Bitcoin is pretty much unstoppable money.

Making money will almost make everyone interested. You will sound like a scammer to them if you will introduce them and then ask them to invest in but if you tell them stories like the price of the BTC started from zero to $30k, it should be a good introduction for them to make money. Its easy to introduce Bitcoin to people who would like to make money online.

Many years ago when I got involved with some dubious programs (I have to admit that they were then really like more into ponzi type), the easier way to enter is the use of cryptocurrency and so when I promoted the programs in the social media those who are interested got the option to use Bitcoin and many of them started to get involved with Bitcoin and admittedly not in the good way and contributing to the perception of some that Bitcoin equals scam. I them moved on from those bad programs and got involved with investing in new projects which unfortunately many also were just frauds though some made it to be good platforms. I know that my story is not unique as there can be many who got introduced to Bitcoin or cryptocurrency because they got attracted to passive programs that eventually just evaporated.

It seems like giving away paper wallets is a popular method, I too have done it in the past with small amounts to those very close to me.

However I always believe that the best way to introduce bitcoin to others is to help them understand what bitcoin is and help fix the misconceptions they have about bitcoin. This too is what I have been trying to do. Basically letting them know that bitcoin is a currency not a get rich quick scheme. For example I used to talk about bitcoin price but for a couple of years now I always avoid mentioning the price.
Having some small technical understanding of how bitcoin works helps a lot too. They are usually confused about mining or how they should store bitcoin, you'd be surprised to see how many think they should store it with some third party like they do with PayPal for example!

When friends swipe bitcoin information on their phones, they will talk to me and ask when is the best time to buy them. Sometimes I also share some interesting videos on my phone for my friends to watch. Now they have tried to buy goods with Bitcoin, and the experience is not bad.

There are many ways, but one of the most effective is to provide evidence that there are many advantages and conveniences that can be obtained with Bitcoin, whether trading it for a long or short period of time.
if they already know about the advantages they will surely learn without having to introduce us in much more detail. as I have done to my friend.

Case #1 [2016-17]
I remember dragging an old friend of mine into a park, then we discussed in regards to how he could and should store it and some of the earning methods. Guess what happened next? I never saw him after that :D
- I admit, it probably had to do with the way I introduced it [perhaps I sounded like I was doing something illegally].

Case #2 [late 2019]
One of my friends wanted to start a business together, so I came up with the idea of importing mining rigs [half of them for ourselves and sell the rest for some profits]... We planned everything for a couple of months [the introduction part was included in here] and almost went with my idea but at the last minute, we ditched it and went with another business idea that eventually led to a significant financial loss [FYI, what happened it was out of our hands].

Thankfully, I no longer have to approach them because they're approaching me instead [less pressure for me, and technically I'm just pushing them in the right direction as opposed to introducing it completely from scratch].

I told a friend that I had some bitcoins in 2017 and he bought just a bit. It was maybe $1000 worth of coins. It was maybe 0.3 btc back then and now that's worth almost 10000 USD. He is still holding and is quite happy because it's that money that is going to help him get his own apartment. Since that day he bought even more and got some of his friends into bitcoin, telling them that buying in 2017 was one of the best decisions he made in life.

Gambling! Not really the best way, but hey. It started when I had a campaign that paid on their crypto site accounts, I started trying out some games with the paid amount since I was too lazy to pull it out, not to mention that I was met with a few games when I entered, had to try it no? Stayed for a few weeks then when my cash ran out, invited a few of my friends to try out crypto casinos and went ahead to put more funds into play.

There was also a case (this time it was me who got introduced into it) where my school mate was using the school's library to run some type of mining machine. Was never sure what coin it mined exactly since I only heard tidbits from the friend of this person, so I got curious.

I have lots of friends but some few friends just know something about cryptocurrencies but most of the friends interesting to invest in cryptocurrencies market. Firstly I introduced themselves with Binance exchange and some altcoins like Ethereum and dogecoin.
is it not risky if you introduce dogecoin to your friends because this is a meme coin...

btw, I've been deterred from introducing Bitcoin and Altcoins to my friends because of the severe losses that occurred in 2018 and then many of my friends cut losses and blamed me for inviting them to invest in Bitcoin. I will not teach Bitcoin to them anymore, if they want to learn then they must be prepared with Bitcoin price volatility.

The first interesting way that my friends introduced to me the bitcoin is that you can earn money here by just participating in some bounty campaigns and also signature campaigns as what many people are doing right now. They are participating in signature campaign in order to get paid by just promoting the signature that they are wearing. There are a lot of people here who is doing the same thing as mine.

Unfortunately I can't really prove the benefits of bitcoin as an alternative means of payment to close people even though most of them have heard a lot that bitcoin is profitable. My friends who are mostly businessmen and farmers are very difficult to teach them technical things. While they would be interested in using bitcoin, they are likely to be more interested in using a more user-friendly and multi-featured third-party (decentralized) platform instead of a private wallet.

My first explanation of Bitcoin was to one of my facebook friend living in remote area and working on some project and was keen to know about new developments and crypto and btc were not quite popular then and I just came to know about btc and read the whitepaper and some other technical working and was amazed to see it and then I told him about the same and as expected he didn't believe in it at first that how come a decentalized currency which have no central authority could use for transaction and who decides its value and how does all the network works? But gradually we both make progress and now we discuss what improvement can be made to btc to improve scalability and fees issue and both are btc holders. So this is how time and our mind changes regarding bitcoin.

a true friend will never leave no matter what, even though thousands of problems come to him but he will always faithfully accompany, as well as financial problems, I always introduce him to bitcoin, I always invite friends to invest in bitcoin, because I have benefited a lot from bitcoin, and I want my friend to also have what I already have, first I show him the advantages I get from bitcoin, so that he is more confident, and look at the price of bitcoin, from year to year, then I teach him how to play in bitcoin. ..

I have informed countless online and offline peers about cryptocurrency and bitcoins specifically. One of the recent experiences I will share below.

A friend of mine used to work at Fiverr and he was scammed by a buyer after he completed the entire order, the seller even released the payment but after a few days, the buyer just made a chargeback and claimed all his money back through PayPal. That day I got to the buyer can pay through PayPal and just open a dispute and get his money back without any problems.

My friend worked 2 weeks continuously on that project and it was a heartbreak for him when this happened. That was the right time I felt I should inform him about bitcoins and ask the buyers to pay in bitcoins because there is nothing that can be done once you are paid in bitcoins.

As I remember way back then, after learning what Bitcoin is from some of my other friends that have introduced it to me, my other friends got curious to know also about Bitcoin then and some have started asking me what it is really all about and the thing that I have done is like explaining it like we were in an economic class for I have introduced not just Bitcoin alone but the whole crypto market as well for it is better to expand the learnings rather than just keeping it hanging with regards to information. I have introduced the benefits, importance and usage of it to them while doing a talk in a way possible to be the easiest way they could understand my point.

Stick with the basics and dont go to complicated ones since your friends are just newbies then its normal that they wouldnt able to get the key points on first explanation, majority of them would
really be just in concern on how to make money and doesnt really mind much about the accompanied risk with it this is why when you do explain then also include on the possible risk
so that they would really be aware and just like into those previous years when i do start and get some basic learnings and experience then i do share up with other friends and now
we are earning here on crypto together because sharing up knowledge is always been good not only on your relationship but also into the entire community.

I remember when one of my close friends asking me about Bitcoin and what it is I simply answered them with basic information and then told them to research further on the internet.  I gave them 1 physical coin that I purchased in a collectible section before to encourage them to push their research and I told them to give them another one if they already understand it.  The good thing to say, most of them now fully understand what is Bitcoin, in fact, they are now crypto traders and seeking a small job in exchange for Bitcoin or any crypto.

I will not force anyone to introduce Bitcoin, the one who approaches me will get the right and correct information because if they don't understand and they invested Bitcoin thinking that they will easily earn of it but the outcome is a massive loss, for sure they will blame you in that way.

Recently one of my friends came over to my house to ask a different thing. But he seems to be vocal and wants to know more about cryptocurrencies. I've made him a wallet and send a couple of bucks worth of bitcoin and ethereum to his wallet. And he's just happy to tell me each day that the value has grown from the amount that I've sent it to him. Well, he's not messaging anymore but I'm sure that he's still into investing and he told me he bought a couple of hundreds but he has missed the peak. The interesting part is when someone is already knowledgeable about what you've taught them, they won't message you anymore.  ;D

I have already stopped on explaining bitcoin or crypto to any of my friends or to other people. Why? I had already some bad experienced that i had been blamed off on why they do lost
money even though i had explained that theres a risk of losing your investment but they just ignore the risk and when the time comes that the market fucked them up then they
do just simply whine off into your face and blaming that you are  the reason on why they had lost money and thats typically a bullshit thing to have.So ive decided
to stop completely on introducing or explaining to other people about crypto and i dont mind on what are their comments about me neither being selfish or what.

Most of them are familiar with the name but only thought that it was a coin you can earn through web mining and investment with fast return.
I tell them that it is risky and just a Ponzi scheme. It is still crucial for them to learn the foundation, so I share trusted info on my newsfeed; they might read it or not. It is still their choice.

Being blamed is not the fun part there. Although you can avoid it when the value plummets if the price goes up I guess they'd be more appreciating your effort. I guess you have to do some timing before introducing Bitcoin to a friend and also alert them when the time that a bear market is about to come. So this is a big responsibility.

I wouldn't ask a friend to invest actually, I'd probably just give BTC for a friend to cash out as I did help a friend by giving him funds to buy a tire for his car that hasn't been running for months because he can't afford to buy tires that time.

That's actually a real problem when trying to explain to others about Bitcoin. People understand that the value of Bitcoin has gone tremendously high but I am often stuck when I'm trying to convince someone why Bitcoins are so useful and they ask me, how does it work? I have basic knowledge and I explain to them everything I know. For example, last time when I was discussing Bitcoin in my friend's group, one guy asked me why do you wait for confirmation when you can pay with an online wallet. I told them that BTC transactions are irreversible and then he suggested Perfectmoney.

I know all those systems are centralized while BTC is decentralized but when it comes to practical solutions and explaining what is decentralization, I was really confused as to how to explain to a non-technical guy what is decentralization.

I have lately found an excellent video that I refer to my friends when I cannot explain the basics. I suggest you all to watch it once, worth every minute of it - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_160oMzblY8&t=341s

First of all, I can be sure that I won’t want my friend to introduce some unintelligible terms.

First, I will guide her to register for a Bitcoin forum account, recommend some simple posts to him, communicate face-to-face, and then give him A simple example told him the basic working principle of Bitcoin.

For example, now, when we shop or consume, the banking system is keeping accounts for us and charging a certain fee. We deposit the money in the bank, and only the bank knows where our money is used. But Bitcoin is transparent and open, everyone has a ledger, you can clearly know where your money is and how to use it.

Very clear.

If you simply use some technical terms to tell the other party, it is a car in the form of heavy rain, no matter how fast the wiper is, you can't see the road ahead.

Well it happened a long time ago and there was a bull run currently occuring during that time so I had an idea of sharing something to my closest friends that helps me benefit financially and mentally. I told them about it and since there are rumors that bitcoin is just a scam, I made sure to thoroughly tell them how legitimate it is and after that they believed me and I started teaching them ways on how they can earn or invest in bitcoin. Turns out I didn't waste my time for nothing since after that, we were all able to benefit from bitcoin a lot considering the continuous increase on bitcoin's price.

if our friends don't intend to ask about bitcoin, I will not give them an explanation o tell my story. because this is dillema.
But, if they are asking and also need my opinion about Bitcoin, I will be pleased to explain to them what I know and what I have got.
I will never tell them about how Bitcoin can make people richer easily because it is not true. bitcoin will give us what we can get really and afford. We should share about the profits we can get and also the rsiks that may aos be lost.

Previously, when I knew about BTC, I introduced to my friends that this is a technology currency and tends to develop in the future. but some news made my friends think negatively that this is just a scam like a ponzi scheme until BTC rallies to the top of $64k that they feel sorry. Before when BTC had $2k, they didn't invest in it and now they see the real value of BTC. They recently asked me how to invest in BTC when the price dropped to 1/2 and I said it was time to buy for a long term investment. and in the end they invested about 30k dollars to buy reserve BTC.

A bit of a unique story I just had with some friend when they started asking "why is bitcoin valuable" & "Bitcoin is a cash game on a large scale". Precisely on Tuesday, the two question above were asked by several friend to me who incidentally are not men who are interested in bitcoin. Honestly I have to answer the question in a very simple way, but unfortunately they can't understand anything from what I'm explaining because in their mind bitcoin is a money game on a large scale. I have to change the topic because honestly we don't have to argue with those who never understand bitcoin because they happily accept a fully centralized fiat system.

I'm not used to asking anyone around me to know about bitcoin for personal reason. I'm sure anyone who want to know bitcoin will just think how they can profit from it. This doesn't mean that I don't want to promote bitcoin for them, but I don't have much time to teach them more than the basic about bitcoin.

Ignore them and tell them that bitcoin never needed people like you because bitcoin only needs people who believe that all the innovation it has to offer are very useful for the payment system revolution.

OP, I once invited one of my friends to come in and get to know bitcoin more in terms of trading. But I never managed to get him interested in starting trading them because there was no point in telling those who weren't interested. Trading is a great display to introduce to anyone, but much riskier if they don't understand it properly. The most interesting thing to say is, bitcoin has become a currency that can be used to pay anything in countries that are legal as a legal payment system and bitcoin has relatively the same price for one currency wherever you want to trade it.

Looking forward to reading about what you guys have done  ;D

Truthfully this days, I have been focusing more on myself than teaching the technology to others, there's more to just sending and receiving Bitcoin. Having to know the perfect wallet to store then how to adjust your fees to best suit the network status at every time is very necessary. The trading aspect is quite tricky as well due to the highly volatile nature of the market.

Maybe if I can't perfect all this in time then I can start teaching others fully but at the moment the only thing I take very seriously is the chances to show others what a great currency, bitcoin is. Many still confess almt he hyped scams and ponzi scheme been promoted all over the internet as the real thing. They prefer to invest in those instead of the Bitcoin.

They all have been filled with the mentality of risking more so they go for more riskier choices that end up putting them at great losses majority of the time. Having to help those I come in contact with, with this information is the best I can do currently as I'm still trying to figure things out myself.

I have tried and trying to educate them on FIAT currencies from central banks to show how they are gradually impoverished trough out their lives by saving in fiat. If you do not understand fiat first you will never understand Bitcoin. You will be a man child Like Musk.

I also have a true to life story of my very own Dad who worked himself to death, so hard all his life and saved all his money in fiat. Forty five years later he could not even afford to build himself a home and have a place live in. Yes we were driven out of employer housing when he retired and were about to be to the streets. I had a small job so we used that to rent a hole to stay in.

I had to support and help build a house for him to live in. He lived in it for about a year and half and passed away listening to music. It broke my heart that I could not provide more for him during his last days. He did all he could for me and the fiat of the central banks fucked him over.

It always bothered me as to how that happened and where the calculation went wrong. He did every thing right by the book. He worked hard , paid his taxes and saved as much as he could.

After I learnt about Bitcoin then it occurred to me where the problem was. The fiat depreciation over that period of time evaporated all his purchasing power. All he could afford then was a small little plot of land but no more money to build a home on it.
The is how..... my friends, are the wonderful ways fiat and central banks protect your money.... as Senator warren puts it to today.

wow... the neighborhood op lives in is very bitcoin-friendly. supporting facilities. btw... where I live bitcoin is still the pros and cons, there is a lot of debate about its decentralized system, and there are still many issues such as its frequent use for darkweb criminal activities, etc. yes... still at that stage. even though it all really depends on the user, and there are lots of conveniences and benefits that can be used.
I do not actively educate my friends or relatives, I only teach or answer questions from people who are curious and ask me directly. I only often share positive news regarding bitcoin adoption.

Of course we will mention this bitcoin, and there are also some when talking about online gambling. the average all wants something simple and crypto is also a topic of conversation. depends on the person too. im not really introduced them . but if we gonna talk about it, im gonna tell everything i know without hesitation.

to be honest I don't like to give investment advice to anyone, my friends know about bitcoin thanks to the awareness that I talked about bitcoin and trading, I wasn't telling them to trade and invest in bitcoin, I was commenting on how I made money for one day I need to withdraw money to my country and I had to ask my friend to withdraw it to his paypal account for me that's because when I exchanged bitcoin for paypal.
I found that my bank card had expired so my only option was to ask mine friend to withdraw money from his paypal account to his BIM account, that's how all my friends and many people in my country will learn about bitcoin and invest in cryptocurrencies

I regret that this was the way of presenting cryptocurrencies, but years ago one of my friends had to do something..let's just say that wasn't exactly legal in our country and he was struggling to find a way to make the transaction for it so that it wouldn't be linked to his ID, and that's how I told him about Bitcoin.

Actually not the best suggestion with no mixers involved, now that we know Bitcoin can be traced, but back then that knowledge wasn't that spread, and it was still the best choice. Turned out fine.
Nowadays, I think I don't need to introduce Bitcoin to anyone anymore, everyone seems to already know about it.

Thanks OP for your post! It is nice and funny.
The strategies you have used to teach your friends about bitcoin have the characteristics of making it easy.
What better way to learn with someone who has experience.
I could also teach my friends and family about bitcoin with the tools I use and also tell them that there are a variety of alternatives for buying, selling and sending bitcoin.
I love the Binance app and P2P. It is an app suitable for beginners and advanced users.

As someone who is very active in the collectibles section here, I introduced a lot of people to bitcoin by gifting "funded" or "loaded" coins and poker chips to friend.  For example there are poker chips called "Satoris" that were pretty cheap when they came out.  They have .001 bitcoin "funded" which is redeemed by peeling a security hologram which reveals the private key for those coins.  There are quite a few other low denomination coins out there that I gifted to a few people over the years.  I am so quite familiar with open dimes.  They are pretty cool hardware.

I give Bitcoin "Paper Wallets" as gifts for Birthdays and Xmas with the other gifts I give to people. I tell them, if they do not shift those coins to another wallet within a year, then I will take it back and give them the equivalent value in Fiat currencies at the time I gifted it to them. (Many of the friends and family then make some extra effort to learn more about Bitcoin and even more so, if the price has gone up significantly ..since I gifted it to them)

One of my friends received Bitcoin from me and the price doubled within that year, so he shifted the coins to a wallet and then cashed out his gift to Fiat at an exchange for double the price I initially gifted it to him. (He was so impressed with that, that he re-invested 50% back into bitcoins and other Alt coins)  ;)

And some of them got into it and earned some in crypto but stop due to some personal issue and some who ignored and laugh at me back then are now into crypto because of Axie (LOL).
They laugh at me when I was starting to earn little from my free time and think that it was a waste of time but now they are trying to get free spot on axie.

Telling our friends how Bitcoin changes our lives is a more interesting story rather than telling them the uses and market features of Bitcoin.
I remember my early days in the forum and tell one of my friends what I am doing, but as expected, they never believe in Bitcoin and he tells me, just show me first how it changes your life. And now that he saw huge changes in my life, then he gets back and tells me, I want to join...

It is too easy to introduce Bitcoin to our friends but it was too hard to convince them until they will found out. There is no interesting way to introduce Bitcoin to our friends aside from showing them what happen to us IRL.

I would be happy to introduce Bitcoin to my friends.
The problem is, all of the people around me aren't that interested when it comes to investing. I'm just lucky that I learned crypto thru my friend which is not around in my place either and further researched online.

Unfortunately, there are no way since I didn't introduced it yet to my friends but I would be happy to introduce it. As for my part though and since Bitcoin is becoming popular already, it would be better for these people or our friends to just learn it themselves instead of us teaching them. If they really are interested into it then they will do something just to learn it right? :).

Most of my friends are fairly new to cryptocurrency scene and they still fall for scams although I prevent the falling just in time, the way I introduced them is that I talked about it first and they are still having doubts about it but then I showed them what I got and then they start listening.

I think one of the most interesting way  I had managed to bring my friends to know and use bitcoin is when I told them of how much I've earned with bitcoin.
I realise that's one of the most effective means of evangelising bitcoin when they know how much you've earned with it.
I realise it is more easy to convince someone to use bitcoin when you have something to show for it. When you can prove to them how much they've missed not using bitcoin, they'd be more willing to accept it

Showing how much profit we managed to get from Bitcoin can be interesting for our friends. Because actually humans are very interested in money,
and if we can show Bitcoin can make a lot of money. That I think is the most interesting and effective way to get our friends interested in Bitcoin.
I showed several times the profit I made from Bitcoin, it made my friends curious and wanted to know more about Bitcoin. Another thing we can do
to introduce Bitcoin to our friends is by telling the advantages of Bitcoin compared to other assets.

ATMs would be really cool, but I’ve always read people who make use of it complain that the cost of making use of the ATM for exchanging Bitcoin is always very high and they prefer to just do it online than making use of the ATM. So making use of the ATM might be an issue in this case. Anyways, I haven’t gone that much far when I’m introducing Friends to Bitcoin. I just show them the Bitcoin wallets and the funds I have in it and also show them how easy it is to send money to anyone without the need for banks, and it just arrives in seconds or few minutes. But I have also tried sending it as a gift.

^ BTC is very well known because of generating profit through trading and investing and we are the same, I don't have a physical product to give them the only way is my knowledge on trading and tips upon investing on BTC. There are too many ways to introduce BTC to your friends and your loved ones, even though you are not giving something physical stuff just for them to believe, just explain to them how it will work and the negative and positive sides of BTC. Introducing someone will really helping the BTC to become more well known.

Dont force them if they dont want to but for sure they would really be asking you out when cryptocurrency would become a main trend but honestly it isnt really that hard to understand even with just the basics.
Explaining is somewhat an exciting thing to be shared on your friends since you do know on whats the benefit that Bitcoin gives not only on decentralized payment system but also with money earning opportunity.
You would really be expecting that there would be some who would be skeptical that this might be an another scam which is normal because i had encountered lots of those kind of people
and now that they do saw that bitcoin reach out some good value then they are coming back on asking something about it.

Wow, ingenious! I guess I should also try that out someday too.
When I was in high school my relatives used to reward me for good excellence, but they gave me the money in USD, which is not the national currency in my country, to make a point that if I exchange now I will lose the opportunity to gain (because there's always inflation in my country and relative value of USD only grows with years).

I suppose it's time to play the same trick on them with Bitcoin :D

My friend and I like to dance. I can assume to him that the dance club encourages everyone to dance regularly. The scoring rules are formulated, 3 points are added for each visit, and 3 points are deducted for no reason. The changes are recorded by the club’s lead dancer. Year-end points can be exchanged for material rewards.
Members of Bitcoin can be regarded as people in dance clubs. Initially, the points are equivalent to Bitcoin, the number is 0, and the ledger is maintained together. Everyone has the right to keep accounts and will be rewarded. Everyone must work together. Counting a question, who has the priority to answer the question.
My friend found it interesting under my example, and since then he has often discussed Bitcoin-related issues with me.

My friend came into contact with Bitcoin earlier than me. At that time, I was unemployed and at a loss. I have no plans for the future. A friend came to me to chat and listened to him talk about the market trend at that time. I took the initiative to ask him about the Bitcoin network and technology. This is the beauty of it. I often discuss the latest market situation with him. I slowly joined this big family, and then I told my other friends about my wonderful experience of using Bitcoin. They are also fascinated. I think all things can only be experienced through personal experience.

In addition to telling the development of its popularity so that the price tends to increase, of course it will be even more interesting that bitcoin can also be searched like working normally online, and of course by sharing evidence as well as what I've been doing so far. Bitcoin is like an opportunity for mankind as a positive income booster.

Although showing the profit that we make from Bitcoin is a proven effective way of introducing Bitcoin. Still we must be able to guide our friends
to learn to understand how Bitcoin works and don't let our friends learn on their own. Those of people who are inexperienced will definitely
make mistakes and will blame us when he fails to make a profit. I have always been a mentor to some of my newbie friends, so they don't make

Maybe the way we can introduce bitcoin to them is to invite them to see how we use bitcoin. If we often trade or invest (just buy low and sell high), we can show them directly and ask them to install an app on their mobile phone.

In this example, I use Binance and I tell them to just buy and hold for a month until three months. But I advise them to buy for small amounts such as $10 every week to have some amount of bitcoin in their wallet. While they did that, they will see the price is up and down and if they ask me when they could sell bitcoin, I will answer just sell whenever you see the profit.

Introducing bitcoin to friends for the first time is quite difficult especially if we introduce it to someone who is not familiar with internet or online payment system. I tried to introduce bitcoin to my friends with giveaway or tell them that there is a chance to earn money from the internet for free. It was the time when there were so many faucet sites.

This method works because who are in this world who do not want to earn money for free? I just told them to do the faucet and collect it into an online wallet although they did not really know how to use bitcoin (sell/buy) it. Slowly but sure, they learn by themselves by doing their own reading of some articles that they can find in the internet.

Honestly, when Ive introduced bitcoin to my friends, the first impression was its a scam networking thing. They dont even believe that I am acquiring profits by investing into this and warn me to stay away from bitcoin. Not until they saw some proofs like items, properties that Ive bought because of bitcoin's profit investment, they suddenly bevame interested and ask me anything about how it works.

Now, we are all traders and investors , sharing all our knowledge and giving out informations, spreading it with others to share how great this technology is.

I want to use the Olympics as a stimulating introduction. The Olympic Foundation was established at the Bitcoin Forum, and the foundation established a separate account. Everyone actively donated Bitcoin, with no limit.

We vote for athletes participating in the Olympics, and we judge our own champions based on the number of votes. The Olympic spirit has no borders. All athletes participating in the Olympics are champions in our minds.

The Bitcoin Austrian Foundation will give us a certain number of Bitcoins for the world champions voted by us.

I think this is a very good idea and interesting. It will make more people understand Bitcoin and be impressed.

I have introduced people to bitcoin through having argument of how one can make money online. With so many people trying to pull all sorts of scams on the internet my pals didn't believe there was a genuine way to make money online hence I introduced them to bitcoin through faucets which existed a few years ago, And we did make a few coins off it ,not sure if we still have them today.

Then I have other friends who complained of delayed receipts of funds to reflect on their bank accounts but had an option to withdraw through bitcoin, I recommended this to be their solution and they have not gone back after knowing about crypto, its bitcoin all the way.

Actually if i can write it here in my native language then it would better but lots of people can't understand. Because if i write only English then they will understand. But my English is not fluent. But if i introduced bitcoin to my friends then it will be like that:

I have my own bank called decentralized wallet. I can use it how i want to know one can know about who am i. And how much money i have. Do you know i am a part of world most extraordinary technology. And i am also a share of that company.  And my government also don't know about it. And you know what it is world most secrets thing what government do not want. I will mention secret because if we use secret word in our friendship gossip then they show much interest on it. But all i say is legit not a wrong word i mention in this.. Then another thing is you have full freedom with your money in bitcoin. Not only that our normal stock market gives how much return in 10 years. You know what bitcoin gives highest $0.01 to $65k. So whi knows in upcoming 10 years where it would be gone. If you do not want to late then come and see if you like then you can do anything what your heart say. But i guranteed you will love this technology.

I introduced a website marketplace that sells virtual goods to my friends. Incidentally, I am very interested in the website because the payment method can be done in many ways and one of them is cryptocurrency.
Shoppy.gg and Shellix accept payments using BTC, ETH and LTC. When my friend was in trouble about his credit card, I introduced him to LTC to make payments at a lower fee, even almost zero.
He became interested in Bitcoin and Altcoins after knowing LTC as a payment tool that is ideal to use to meet his digital needs.
In addition, I also often buy my friends T-shirts that say Bitcoin to make them want to know Bitcoin more deeply. I bought the shirt from the results of my Bitcoin business by setting aside 5% - 10% income every month.

To be honest, I have never introduced Bitcoin to any of my friends. Instead, one of my friends introduced Bitcoin to me when I was not even aware of what it actually was.
You are one lucky person then because some people that don't know about bitcoin don't exactly know it since the people who knows about bitcoin doesn't want people to know about it. I don't have that interesting story how I got into bitcoin, probably it's just the same as you.
Sharing is indeed caring to other people specially to those people who are close to us or even with random people that you do encounter on and sharing up things just because you do like
to share the opportunity that you had able to experience or get into the crypto market specially with Bitcoin.I have once told or share up about Bitcoin into my cousins and some friends
some of them did really have some interest and some do just directly tell that it is a scam and i should never invest or put money into it but when the time they saw that im earning
that much then they are now trying to look for me and asking on how its been done.lol

Based on my experience it is not easy to introduce or make ordinary people interested in the crypto world. We have to be really patient and prove the results ourselves because most of them need to see the evidence instead of hearing nonsense. So in addition to giving him knowledge, I also gave him evidence that this btc will provide benefits if we can manage it well because we are the ones in control of our own assets. The good asset management is that we must know the right time to sell or buy btc in the market.

Earlier when I got into Bitcointalk forum I suggested few of my friends about it. None were interested, and later told them atleast buy few bitcoin or a little and hold for the future. By that time myself don't know much big about bitcoin. Believed it and started to give it a promotion. None responded well, and now those friends have started to ask about cryptocurrencies and few have invested into it.

Since I am a proud gamer myself, I endorsed Bitcoin in a lowkey way by introducing my friends a game wherein Bitcoin is involved, if y'all know Axie Infinity, well, something similar like that but this game was years ago, so Bitcoin wasn't on this level yet, they were actually convinced with my words, they gave it a try and are now doing trading and are now trying out Crypto Blade (also a game that has been recently released), anyways, it's really up to your ideas on how you can actually convince your friends on engaging with Bitcoin.

I introduced them to this site and told them that you can use this site to earn a bit of bitcoin. from then on the 4 of use started using this site to earn bitcoin and through that we got involved in cryptocurrency and started day trading on the side while studying.

Introducing people into the crypto world is something I have tried to do, but they end up saying it's a 50 - 50 thing. They prefer what they can see, office they can go to and officials they can ask questions. They feel if they have no one/office to run to, they can't manage it themselves.
But one thing is sure, that who ever gets concerned and convinced  they take the bull by the horn and invest immediately, and people like that are rare amongst my friends, and men of age thinks  it's a scam, and they end up turning it down.
Amongst the people I introduced into bitcoin was a close family relative, who was convinced and joined the system, where we registered in lots of faucet sites and earned bits of bitcoin.

In most of the experiences I've had, my friends are looking for information for me and are interested. they are more my friends than the stock market.
One of the easiest experiences of getting a friend's attention to enter or be interested in bitcoin is our balance on the exchange.
I don't mean to be arrogant, but I think that's what people are most interested in. collect a lot of money in a short time. but I tell them how risky the crypto market is for investment. strangely, they are still interested in entering the market.

based on my experience, now it's easier to introduce bitcoin to people than it used to be when bitcoin wasn't as excited as it is today. currently bitcoin is booming and it's easier for us to introduce bitcoin to them, at least they must have heard what bitcoin is even though they don't really understand it and our job is to give more understanding about bitcoin. we can talk about the advantages of bitcoin as a profitable investment and also payment, it will make it easier for us to follow the development of this technology.

Before we will need to show them proofs on how to earn like when we will be able to cashout or not, but now there are many living stories that can testify how crypto change their life. The only regret or doubt that they are saying now is if the price will still arise despite the price of BTC now being too high. We still need to emphasize how risky it can be and they need to study it. We don’t really need to convince them its just enough that we offer them pr introduced crypto to them and its benefits. Let them decide for themselves after.

The majority of them are familiar with the name but believed it was a cryptocurrency that could be generated through internet mining and investing for a quick profit. The banking system maintains track of our transactions and costs us a fee when we shop or consume. We deposit money in the bank, and the bank is the only one who knows what happens to it. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is open and transparent; everyone has a ledger, and you can see where your money is and how it is used.

I think it is necessary to be patient and prepared to repeat some things several times. Remember that it is not an easy decision to invest in bitcoin, and they need to be well-informed before they start investing. There is way too much incorrect information on the internet. Show them face to face.

I remember the time that when I promoted Bitcoin the first time on Facebook, I shared my experience in getting a bonus $1.00 for me and my referral by just signing up to Coins.PH mobile wallet. After that, my so-called "mentor" (whom I don't see him as a true mentor) reached out to me on Messenger, criticized and warned me for sharing Bitcoin.

As I understand that he is misinformed on what the real Bitcoin is all about, I stand on my ground and keep sharing about it. Because of that, he unfriended me and spread the word silently to his "team leaders" that I am promoting a scam, and they also started ignoring or unfriended me as well. I've remember those days though.

However, when that old door closes, a new one opens, and that is the beginning of my new journey in gaining new friends.

Since Facebook was my only social media back then, I just share something good about Bitcoin and eventually some of my friends inquired to me on how to get started in buying and trading BTC. And the rest is history. I find my true calling here by being a Bitcoin, crypto and blockchain enthusiast, so I had to go with it despite the disapproval of my "fake friends" back then.

When it comes to repeating then i am really guilty with this on which i do really explain for several times because there are friends of mine which cant really fully understand on whats crypto or bitcoin is all about
and on that time i do really make out some explanation with having some corresponding given links in youtube or videos which would make things a bit easier rather than on telling them on verbal.
You could show off on how great and good on bitcoins existence not only relevant into its use-case but also into its earning opportunity too.

Ironically, there is less money in the account. He laughed at me for a long time because of it. When he comes back this year, I can laugh loudly because there is a lot more money in my account.

The best way to introduce Bitcoin to a friend is not to explain the mechanism to him, but to let him see your success. When you buy Bitcoin and earn wealth, this is not the most beneficial introduction!

When there is news about Bitcoin on the Internet, my friends will ask me something about Bitcoin. I will also take the initiative to ask some friends when it is better to buy. Because Bitcoin has also made many friends. On a friend’s birthday, I gave a friend Bitcoin as a gift, and another friend did the same.

Like you said "good management" because they may blame me if they failed to manage and I do not want to be on that point. Of course our aim here is help them not bring burden so they must understand this thing side by side. They may earn big but they may lose bigger.

they don't care about my invitation, and they still focus on multi level marketing (MLM), when their MLM stops operating they come to me to learn how to get bitcoin for free, and when they come bitcoin reached 60k $ yesterday and they believe that bitcoin can be got for free like what i did

Bitcoin consist of a lot of benefits we know the possibility to chance to earn because of the market volatility. It's too hard to introduce bitcoin to those people who didn't want to be involved with it. As for now, I see the benefits of the use of the bitcoins are you can withdraw your bitcoin through ATM, all of the transactions are transparent, market volatile, you can use as a payment into different supported establishments. Of course, you want to introduce to your friends this requires your guidance it's better to have a full knowledge too to help them.

introducing bitcoin to people around is not easy especially to some of the close friends I know. Some of my friends even don't know about bitcoin and think bitcoin is just a game that won't make any money. But when they found out I'm a Bitcoin user and have a few Bitcoins and have a big income they got interested and started asking how to make money from Bitcoin.

I started to introduce bitcoin by giving a glimpse of what bitcoin is and how to get it. I opened several Exchanges to tell you how to buy and sell Bitcoins.

There are some people who think Bitcoin is gambling and such. Negative views began to emerge, but some people also understood what I was doing.

There are many interesting ways that can be done to introduce Bitcoin.

They are astonished to what I knew, then I started adding ideas on how to use it wisely. Then they got interested deeper and today they are investing to different alt coin beside BTC. Many of them also started investing in crypto games and other nfts.

The bulk of them were aware of the term but mistook it for a cryptocurrency that could be created through internet mining and then invested for a rapid profit. When we shop or consume, the financial system keeps track of our transactions and charges us a fee. We put money in the bank, and only the bank is aware of what happens to it. Bitcoin, on the other hand, is open and transparent. Also you can see exactly where your money is and how it is being spent.

One of the best points but for sure there would be contradictory out of those positive thoughts that you had mentioned. What if they do ask out about money laundering? Scams and frauds?

For sure one of your friends would really be having these kind of questions and this is where knowledge about bitcoin or crypto as a whole would really be important so that you could able

to counter and make out proper explanation which might result on poking up other peoples interest towards bitcoin or crypto.

I haven’t really done much in terms of giving out Bitcoin, when I want to give out Bitcoin I just do it the normal way by sending it to my friends through wallet. But I first of all know whether they are into it, and if not, then I talk to them about it and help them set up a new wallet that they can use to be making use of Bitcoin.

When I have done that I would then send them some free bitcoins that they can use to start up, it usually makes them very happy and when they have used it for the first time and seen how interesting Bitcoin can be to use, they grow interest and then they start buying it and making use of it. Most of them have told me that Bitcoin is really cool and everything about it is so nice because of how techy and new it is.

It was a bit difficult for me at first trying to introduce Bitcoin to my friends and family, much was said and then we took a bet.

Well, everything works perfectly with proves, if there's going to be trust, you have to earn it.
I had to show them proves of how much Bitcoin has risen and how much impact it has made and then.....

Today most of them are doing well as they've not just relied on my information but had gone into research and now the own different coins aswell.

Yes I feel you. At first it is really hard to make them believe about this thing until they'll see that you're really earning something good here. I knew because I also tried to introduce this to my cousins and only of them believe in me. That one person who believe in is not supported by her husband but she proved that it is really worth it. After that her husband did not go against her from doing it.
They always needed proof first before believing.

Its easy to convince them if you explain to them a real world scenario. Like once I demonstrated to my friend how I received payment from one of my client living abroad via BTC. I then converted those BTC to fiat. All that happen instantly and with minimum cut. He was impressed and very recently he also started using crypto.
It useless if you just keep on telling them the theory behind BTC, tell them how it practically works.

if those who know nothing about bitcoin, they probably don't have at least a smartphone and a television, and I don't think there's any need to file or tell them about bitcoin unless they ask, and have to explain it in detail.
because it will be easier and will be well received every what we explain to them because they started it.

I practically showed them the proof of how much I earned. They literally analyzed how much they were able to earn from stocks and now much they can earn from crypto currencies with the same investment amount. some of them spent it all at once and the rest keeping it in their wallet ... 5 years later exactly before the covid outbreak hit us , some of my friends find it worth $200 , withdraw it all and smiling at me then say ... 'now that is interesting' , guess what? 2 of my friends still digging the wallet that i sent them 0.05 btc now as it worth $3,000! they forgot where it is now and feel in deep regret when i was offering that opportunity to become a pioneer.

Common reaction on where people do make out those findings or seek of those things when its already having some value but well no one had really expected that we would really be coming far on this one.
People doesnt really make out some actions or typically doesnt really believe at all and for those who had consider it out then they had able to make money even though it isnt big but at least
they are showing off some interest towards it and to those who had just ignored and carelessly lost up their coins then it serves them right but im not really surprised
with human beings behavior.

There is nothing that happens when we keep on doubting Bitcoin. Actually, I was overwhelmed by what happened to you and your friends but for me, it was found to be discouraging since many of my friends still don't believe me and keep asking what is your proof of its existence. And sometimes they accuse me of scams and they think I just wanted to trick them.
That is a big challenge for us on how to change the mindset of the people when they don't even have the guts to try and listens to us. Maybe that is life and not all have the same opportunity due to the mentality of the person.

Unfortunately, the majority of my friends are not really interested in crypto. They just were wondering how I make money, but they didn't ask me what Bitcoin was and how they also could make money on it. I think that it is a mistake of snubbing such a good opportunity to have passive income. But actually, I found some friends who are crypto enthusiasts, they don't need to have Bitcoin introduced, so I can discuss all crypto news with them.

We can introduce bitcoin to our team of friends by managing business presentations.
In this way, we can show our friends all ups and downs of the business. We can learn them every them using a whiteboard, digital screen, laptop or projector, etc.
We can show them our investment, our account, our income, maps, graphs, etc. This is a good way to guide friends showing everything in detail. But this all depends upon our advanced study and knowledge.

For quite some time I have been hearing about Bitcoin trading and how a lot of people have gained from Bitcoin trading but I started trading myself recently. I had tried earlier but mostly failed to gain from crypto trading due to a lack of experience and skill. A few months ago one of my friends introduced me to a platform called Trend Surfers Signals.

This website has loads of information about crypto trading, crypto signals, and how one can start trading. The best thing I liked about them was their free guide for Bitcoin trading, which helped me to understand the whole process. I had read a lot about crypto trading earlier but this provided me an overview of the whole process and a comprehensive strategy for Bitcoin trading. I have been implementing the strategy for some time now and have joined their Telegram group for crypto trading signals. Mine is a little unorthodox, but I think it could be a really good way to get more people interested in cryptocurrencies.

I managed to find myself meeting alot of people through friends who loved to play ARGs and LARP games.
This gave me an idea.
I devised and ARG in which the goal was to discover the lost crypto wallet through basic detective gameplay.
The prize was whoever found the lost crypto wallet got to keep it's contents.
Almost like a treasure hunt.
The wallet of course was not a real crypto wallet.
I found that this use of basic game structure that most people could easily pick up if they were not already familiar with created a fun and sociable environment where the concepts of cryptocurrency could be introduced to people unfamiliar with them in steps within the game. They would be learning alongside other people also unfamiliar with cryptocurrency helped which break down reluctance they may have otherwise have as they no longer feared being seen as inadequate for what they didn't know. They also became genuinely interested in learning more about cryptocurrency and bitcoin as they had now associated the subjects with the fun and social experiences they had had playing the game and no longer with any preconceptions that may have acted as barriers stopping them taking an interest.

It is a dream of mine to one day do this on a mass scale as I was blown away by how effective this was as a means of introducing people to bitcoin.

I would love to create a mass scale ARG using cryptocurrency.

I have this link below (broken up) showing some rules I have devised in a basic concept design of how such and ARG may work.

Check it out and let me know if you would also play such an ARG and if you know anyone who would also play please pass the link around

Sent them 0.05 btc back in 2015 worth $15 to give it a try, i sent to over 10 friends that time.

some of them spent it all at once and the rest keeping it in their wallet ...
Yuppp , fears in taking risk but love taking huge advantages out of it , sick.

i was in my peak career doing crypto based businesses back in the days , no one paying attention before that until i show up with multiple real life businesses in a fancy car. that is how society judge you. you need to freakin show off or you'll be forgotten , bitcoin helps a lot of people showing off with privacy remain on a safe place. that is the main message i currently looking to spread it all around my places.

that's why I prefer to introduce bitcoin to young people because besides that they must have followed the times and know a little about crypto. nowadays who doesn't know crypto, we just need to convince them to invest in it. Usually I will explain casually about the basics of the crypto world itself and I also explain them that we can make big money here in many ways. but keep in mind that in addition to revealing the advantages we must also provide an understanding of the risks that can be obtained in this crypto world.

As someone who currently lives in a third-world country, any alternative income that can be conveniently earned is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that cannot be missed.

When my college friend introduced me this forum, he explained that it was possible to earn income by working online. Since I was also struggling financially (living with a family of 5 with a single dad raising us), I opted to listen and to know the fundamentals of BTC.

Ever since I started earning from my signature campaigns, I tried as much as possible to introduce this forum to some of my close friends (and relatives) about the nature of BTC. Though most of them brushed such idea by claiming that it was an 'online scam' or 'pyramid scheme', there were some people who listened passionately and tried joining this forum!

Through word of mouth, I was able to send the message and inform them about the nature of cryptocurrencies!

It easy for me to introduce bitcoin to my friends who are well educated in the community. And very easy for them to understand cryptocurrency than some of my friends who are not well educated in the community. Educated friends have the ability to know all the strategies to invest in long term and short term investment that will bring positive income at the end of the investments. The educated friends has the hunger to learn all the rules and regulations that guide bitcoin in the community for them not to end up in a half way without achieving anything from bitcoin investment.

Before I want to introduce them to bitcoin, how do I profit from bitcoin? and have I had a better life in the market? . Will you become richer and more affluent than before? . and they will look at my change. One of them who asked me why he changed his life more than before could share with me about this and the conversation between me and my friend about bitcoin started. When I told them about bitcoin, they realized that by the time they discovered this lucrative market it was too late. Now they just regret and don't believe that what I suggested about old investments they didn't believe me now has brought me huge profits.

It is okay if they don't won't believing you. You're not going to force them into believing bitcoin, we've been seen in such situations and there's no need to convince them or introduce them if they're thinking like that. I'm done with that and through those backlashes from my friends and when the market is up, they are there for you and will ask as it seems they're truly interested. But not to me anymore, I wouldn't waste my time introducing it or telling or enticing them if I've already told it before.

Sometimes we can't deny that we have been forced to listen to things especially when talking money like about Bitcoin because of our financial problem. But if we have stable financial support, I don't think so.
This is actually how we got involved and know about crypto, it is our chance and we had forced to understand it due to some reason but we don't send any complain because we also benefiting from this far apart from those who neglected this.

I'd came from a third-world country and I was happy of knowing this as it really helps me. And I feel how you'd feel as well especially when someone is not listening to us and even they think that we are a scammer.

I paid my friends in bitcoin (who were willing to accept BTC) for split bill meals.
