Title: Microsoft Issues Warning: Update Your Windows PC Immediately

Microsoft is urging Windows users to immediately install an update after security researchers found a serious vulnerability in the operating system.

The security flaw, known as PrintNightmare, affects the Windows Print Spooler service. Researchers at cybersecurity company Sangfor accidentally published a how-to guide for exploiting it.

The researchers tweeted in late May that they had found vulnerabilities in Print Spooler, which allows multiple users to access a printer. They published a proof-of-concept online by mistake and subsequently deleted it -- but not before it was published elsewhere online, including developer site GitHub.

I know many people let their PC run for weeks without updating, but it seems like we should not delay with this one!

Isn't there supposed to be a warning on the computer? It sounds to me that some previous time it was like that. Or at least that they send you an email. I haven't seen anything on my computers at the moment.

I feel like I used to see those warnings as well, but now the only way I know there is an update is when I go to restart my PC.

And I only restart every few weeks. Not sure if there is some setting I changed or program I disabled, but yeah no warnings for me.

The update would appear on the right in the taskbar unless they inactivated that feature.

I do not see the update on my computer and laptop, so I guess that will depend on our computer type and the update release time.

What if I don't have a printer? There's no update on my PC that appears and since I've got no printer.

Do I have to worry with it or I'll just let it as is and just keep using my PC?

This is not a serious security threat for an individual but for corporate it can be worse but why not the microsoft itself add an update feature which automatically updates with need of permission from the admin since windows 10 it is not possible to turn off the updates permanently like the previous versions so after the pause period the system will update itself when connected to internet the same idea can be applied to serious security patches as well.

Good that Windows ask for update last night so i did update my windows right after i use and before sleeping last night.

So meaning I am safe right?

I got that when I shut down my computer and laptop. Hopefully, that update can protect us from the leak because it can damage our computer if we do not update it.

Yes, we can feel safe after updating our computers. But we still need careful because the hacker can find another way to enter the system.

Thanks for this info, I updated my l windows straightaway this morning.I am one of these guys who never shuts down their PC. The sleeping mode is so much more convenient and saves time. I wish we would get pop ups in Windows if there is a security risk. Most of the time I am getting no notifications about update.

I read about this somewhere else, I did the update yesterday. It took ages, it was hanging at Installing 100% for a long time. I forcibly shut down my computer & it then did the update. Again, was taking forever to Configure Windows. Eventually it worked, I don’t know if it’s because so many people were trying to do the update at the same time but I’ve never known a Windows update take so long (my Computer is high spec & wifi good).

I've just remembered about this post because I have the automatic update on my computer and yesterday it was updated. Now when I turn it on it has finished setting the update. I haven't seen any warnings or anything but I guess it has solved the problem.

In my case it went relatively fast, without any problems.

I think if you update with the newest update, you will be fine. Whether you have a printer or not, with the update, if somehow, you buy a printer in the future, I guess that will help you to get protection from the update.

No need to worry if you do not get an update on your PC. Maybe you will see it later.
