Which team will win between Italy and England? Anticipation's growing for the Euro 2020 final that will be held on Sunday at Wembley, London UK.

At first I predicted that Spain would enter the final with England, apparently not, the spin lost on penalties with Italy 1-1 (4-2p), Denmark lost 2-1, England won the final at EURO 2020 this time.

Yep I agree with you, Italy has more big country opponents. They are able to play effectively. They don't have the ball but can score goals. I think in 90 minutes they will play 1-1 or 0-0 no more 1 gol every Tim. Even though England are playing at home, I have some doubts about their goalkeeper, in the appearance against Denmark several times he made mistakes.

The final match is likely to be fierce because both teams have a balanced composition from goalkeeper to striker, and the last meeting in 2018 was Italy vs England, the score was a draw.

Italy showed better football compared to England since day 1 and, more importantly, a greater resilience. England had a too soft journey until yesterday: not even Germany was a big deal for them.
I think the Italians have all the means to dismantle the English battleship.
England's no Spain and we saw that only that kind of football can do harm to the Azzurri.
Therefore, that is my bet, Italy winning without reaching the extra times.

I was thinking something similar, not too many goals, probably the game will be stalled until the first mistake... but if that mistake happens earlier the game will open up and after that anything can happen!

I voted for Italy, I give them an advantage, in my opinion, they are a better team! I think they can take down the English boys on their home field... but will it be in regular time, or we will see Italians in penalties once again, we will see... England certainly. I had a bet placed during the round of 16 that England to win the Euro 2020. However, Italy is still unbeaten for the last 35 matches I guess and that's a very good strength for them. It gives them hope, confidence to win over England although it’s in English kingdom.
Nevertheless, I will only place bet on both team score. Nothing else probably.

And it seem right for good reasons. No doubt Italy has equal chances to win the game. But England will definitely have the benefit of the home ground and familiar weather.

In the final it was quite tense but I will poll Italy for a win at EURO 2020.

There is no specific reason for this because for me both teams are great and will not doubt their game in the final.

it seems that at the beginning of the vote people are more in favor of italy. well i voted for england, i think italy is a good team, and very strong in defence, but england is also a strong team and plays well in attack. for me england will win this game. even if the game reaches overtime, england will win

I voted for Italy, I do not have too many reasons except that I really dislike when a match is decided by the decisions of the referees, the penalty kick that was given to England on overtime against Denmark was ridiculous, there was only a slight contact and it was of the kind that it is allowed all over the field and even after there was a review the decision was upheld, soccer is a contact sport so even if there was a mild contact it was not enough to justify the penalty kick being given to England, so for that reason alone I hope they lose against Italy.

We should just hope for a good match where the better team wins. This is not always the case in tournaments such as this. The technical data and statistics indicate that England should win, but I personally support Italy. Honestly I think Italy takes it.  Whether it's in reg time or extra time I don't know.  They looked real good against Spain and don't feel the same about how England looked.  They seem susceptible to a counter and Italy is real creative.  Going to take a real concerted effort I think from the English side to get over on Italy.

I might be accused of being a bitter Welsh man here, but I do believe Italy will beat England. Italy haven't lost in how many games? Isn't it closing in on 30 games now? I think their defense is enough to hold the attacking options England have got, and I think Kane, and Sterling will feel the pressure on the night, which will only aid the Italians. I think Italy can win, the reason is simple, I think Italy has already achieved its style of play, that style they had in the 90s but with today's players, they also have a hunger for victory, on the other hand England has players very good and with great experience, the truth is that they have a very powerful attack, it could be said that it will be the best defense in the world against the best attack in Europe. If I was to compare each player against the opposite number on the other team. I'd probably have the majority of the English players in my team. They have some world class players or if not world class very close to that level. Harry Kane, Sterling, Sancho, Henderson, and Trent are all probably up there. Yet, they don't seem to click as well as they should. I'm not sure if its because of British media hyping them up, and then turning on them even for the slightest mistake, but that team should be running things. Italy have some good players no doubt, but I definitely think on a individual basis, England would win every day. England also have a history of collapsing under pressure which is why I mentioned that earlier. I think certain players are more susceptible than others e.g Sterling, Maguire, and Pickford.

Im going with Italy in the final. I think there is karma in this world because of the penalty against Denmark. Plus Italy are so much more motivated and are always giving there all. I think this will be an intresting final and might go in to extra time

Well,to me,I don't see Italy becoming victorious in that tough encounter.England have been a team I vouch for from the beginning of this tournament.There backline and Frontline is both solid and offensive.Lets not also forget they have the best backline so far.Therefore,I give England the win over Italy.

Italy was playing a good defensive game against Spain and if you watched the match Spain was having the ball majority of the time and they failed to get inside the box and they tried many long range shots which all backfired and they wasted many opportunities. When it comes to England i thought it would be an easy game against Denmark but they took the time till the extra minute to score a goal.

The game is between England attack and the Italian defense, if it goes to the shootout then i am picking Italy to win.

England is better in defense because they conceded 1 goal only so far, on other side Italy has beaten more big teams than England. It is hard to predict but based on the odds, England is a bit favorite than Italy. England with 2.6-2.7x and Italy with 2.9x-3.xx.

Both team were in easy group of stage but Italy was in harder bracket on the Play-offs than England. If I'm not mistaken, the Final will be held in Wembley which is a home for England so it will be an advantage. It will be also England's first major tournament Final after 55 years, it can be a big pressure for the team since the fans will be hoping so much to see England take the trophy.

Hard to predict who will be the champion, but if I look at the overall history of both team in all major tournament, I'll choose Italy.

LOL.. the poll results really surprised me. Italy at 15 votes out of a total of 25. England and draw at 5 each. Naturally I would have expected more votes for England, since they are having better odds. Italy is mostly placed at +190 to +200 by sportsbooks (not much behind England though). I guess a lot of people are angry with England after the boorish performance from the English fans during the semi-final match against Denmark. I am thinking about making a bet in favor of draw after the first 90 minutes. IMO, the scores are likely to remain at level after regulation time.

We all saw the Denmark vs England game... And we've also all seen Italy games! I don't think England has a chance in this match! Attacking Italy is going to beat them! Even a home field won't save England from losing!

italy was really bad in their game last time against spain and it was very clear when spain dominated the match and so did england which indeed in the game against denmark in my opinion did not play well and it can be said that 2 goals were created by england in the match that is just luck, to be honest I enjoy the Italian game more (except against Spain) than England, so that's why I prefer Italy to win in the final later  ;D.

I will agree with you, but I think Italy will win it during regular time. I am more impressed by Italy, their match against Belgium was really good and England didn't convince me yet.
England has the home advantage however, but my guess is 1-2 for Italy.

Throughout the appearance at EURO 2020 Italy was impressive with a good performance, but in the final I also have no doubt this will even be a victory for the Azzuri at home to England I think Roberto Mancini already knows what strategy to apply with England, this is not an easy opponent but with regular time everything can be smooth.

We are not having a third-place match. It was a regular event at the EUROs from 1960 until 1980. However, due to low TV ratings and no interest from fans, UEFA decided to cancel it.

I've voted for England. Because first of all, the final game is in Wembley. They are just too lucky to have a big advantage like this. And as far as I know, they still want foreign tourists to wait under quarantine for 14 days or so. This means that they aren't going to be accepting spectators who's newly come from a different country. And only the Italian fans who are living in England are going to be able to go to the match and support their team.

With this huge advantage, I think England are way ahead already. But Italy are a really strong team. So I don't think that England will be able to defeat them in 90 minutes or even in 120 minutes. I think that we will see the penalty shoot-outs and England will be the winner side at the end.

I don't quite understand the meaning of this discussion if England wins, (+ It is not entirely clear to me why one more additional thread should be created, because the discussion of Euro 2020 is in a neighboring thread, created long ago). But I agree with SFR10, England really deserves to win as they are the only top national team that has never won this tournament, (not to mention the fact that the England team costs about a billion dollars).  :)

I don't have any strong feelings either way for England or Italy, but I just feel that England seem to collapse under pressure, at least from a historic point of view. Italy on the other hand are formidable, and are probably on one of their best runs in history. I just think this Italy squad has too much for England, and that isn't based on the skill difference, but rather their collective state right now.

I think its a wise bet to make for both teams to score. England simply have too many dangerous players for them not to be expected to score. While their defense has been good, there is definitely a few players in that squad that are a little suspect to the pressure. Recently I realized it looks like England have the ability to win the final match, even though before this Euro event started I predicted Italy would be champion and at least my prediction was correct so far. Because with Italy being able to penetrate to the final, at least my prediction is just one step away from becoming a reality.
But somehow after seeing some matches and some considerations I made, my mind changed about Italy as I predicted at the beginning, because this final will be at Wembley then of course England have many chances to win. Also, recently there was news about a covid-19 case from one of the crew or whatever from someone from Italy, I still don't know the truth but at least the issue has had an impact on the team I think.

As per the community here, Italy seems favorite and rightly so. Italy was runner up in 2000 and 2012 Euro finals and they will desperately want to win this match.

The match could turn anyway but I think italy will play fairly well they now face a strong italian side who are still on the roster after the final semi final win over spain which ended in a penalty shootout. Beyond the strong and veteran defensive partnership of giorgio chiellini and leonardo banucci it will be a difficult task for the england forwards, while I have the potential to provide a lot of headaches in a thunderstorm attack from monsini's squad.

The Italian will ensure that those records will not be broken playing 33 matches unbeaten isn't an easy feat, defensively the team is good with the pair of  experienced Giorgio Chiellini and Bonucci marshalling their defence lines although playing on England soil (Wembley) is an advantage to the England team however I believe the had what it takes to beat England having been unarguable one of the best team in this competition that is why I voted for them to win the cup the disappointment of not qualifying to the last world cup had paid off for them

I have to say where you play doesn't really matter "that" much when you have just one game left. However it is a shame of course to have England national team playing at the Wembley on a finals game, that just doesn't sound fair, I know it was probably designed that way a billion years ago so even if England lost this finals would be there but it is still dangerously unfair to Italy to send them there, how about playing in Rome? Chiellini will come back to Wembley after 14 years since the last time he stepped on the stadium with U21 Italy.

I find it surprising that the poll shows how the community is overwhelmingly pro-Italy, even though bookies believe in England's win. Even a draw is apparently more likely than Italy winning the game. And I get why England is a favorite, they have a very strong team comprised of people who are themselves strong players from top football clubs. England also has a home advantage IMO, as the match will be in London. That being said, I think Italy is capable of winning, and I've placed a small bet in its favor today to support it.

Before it got to the final I really thought I would be seeing Belgium and England in the final, atleast that's what I thought, but now it's England against Italy, I have watched both of them, England has great players, very exciting young talent, like Saka, Foden, mount and more but Italy has professors of the game on the field, and Finals has it pressure, Manchester city found that out in the UCL finals. Looks like you are no longer in the minority as even from the current odds it is clear England are the favourites, Italy @3.xx and England @2.xx. But indeed, if I may say I also really changed my mind because at the beginning I was very supportive of Italy no matter what, but after I realized and tried to convince myself where to support and the answer was England. But regarding whether the match will end in normal time or extra time, I personally believe the match will end in normal time because if the match is decided on penalties then I am not sure about England, because Italy has a better goalkeeper I think to block the penalty kicks.

Gianluigi Donnarumma is the strength of Italy and the defense is the best and i am expecting England to struggle to score the goals and if the match goes to penalties then there is no doubt Gianluigi Donnarumma will take the team to victory as he has done that in the past and he will do it again and he is the best of this generation.

The issue is that this creates a really bad impression on people, the host of the tournament is given a penalty kick on overtime and they win the game because of it even after the play was reviewed and in the best case scenario the contact that we could see did not merit to give the penalty kick, basically this gives the impression England was helped to get to the final and this kind of impression is never good for the sport, which is why I hope Italy wins.

After 90 minutes only 7 forum users were right (including me) as the game ended in a draw. If we want to take the results at large, we can definitely admit that the majority of you guys were right!
In the end, I think Italy deserved to win both considering the overall Euro2020 performance and the character showed during the final.
