According to El Sol de México, Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak called Bitcoin "the most amazing mathematical miracle" during the Jalisco Talent Land Digital 2021 event.
He also believes that this index currency is more valuable than gold. Because gold is not scarce enough:
"We keep finding gold. One day, we will manufacture it in factories."
Even if the 70-year-old tech entrepreneur does not personally invest in this leading cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, he is convinced that the cryptocurrency will have a special place in the future.
Wozniak has been a staunch supporter of Bitcoin for years. In June 2018, he said he would like the currency to become a global single currency.
In December, he launched his own cryptocurrency company, Efforce.
During the recent event, the legendary computer engineer said that artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) could change people's lives for the better.

But I don't deny either that they do help  :)

I guess when it furthers their interest, people will side with some of the things that they previously didn't care for or have previously opposed. Also, it's not like it's worth to listen to what he says because as you've said, it's biased.

What I found funny with that article is, Bitcoin was mentioned, praised, and then it went on with the story that he launched a new “cryptocurrency company” called “Efforce”. I went to the website, it shills a “Woz” token.

Is he truly the founder of the company?

I've edited my post. I was not expecting something as low as just another token. I was expecting a proper company, not just some buzz words and a token sale  :(

And yeah, I start to believe that somebody is just using his name there, I've seen no reference about this "wonder" token on his twitter.

It's not funny, it's a way to promote something of your own, but to attract an audience you have to tell them first what they want to hear, and when the co-founder of Apple says Bitcoin is "the most amazing mathematical miracle", people are thrilled and sure will take a look at his project. In other words, "Bitcoin is a miracle, but I have something even better."

By the way, Steve Wozniak has become known to the crypto community in 2018 when he fell for a cheap trick and lost as many as 7 BTC (https://www.marketwatch.com/story/steve-wozniak-had-70000-in-bitcoin-stolen-after-falling-for-a-simple-yet-perfect-scam-2018-02-28), which does not really portray him as an intelligent man - because if he had the attitude he has today, he would certainly have acted differently.

To be completely fair, I can't find any reference of him talking about his token on that event. The article OP shared just decided to promote that on their own -- other sources like CoinTelegraph (https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcoin-is-a-miracle-and-better-than-gold-says-apple-co-founder-wozniak) doesn't mention it at all. Woz is probably being genuine here.

But yeah, I'd say it's likely that Efforce is just using him as a figurehead. It's not much better than active involvement, but that's something at least.

classic advertising method that we often find in various advertisements to promote what he has of course he must have an audience love initiative and try to praise Bitcoin. like you said, that he has something better.

so it's not really from the bottom of my heart to express my admiration for Bitcoin.

a way of advertising that is still reasonable, because the crypto population in the world has recently increased. so he has the material to keep the audience interested in listening to what he has to say.

I tried reading through the information. So, the platform and company Efforce is an evolution of a company called AitherCO2 which is the actual entity behind the project. The whole tokenomics is kinnda strange. They didn't do an ICO but the company and those "founders" will receive millions of those WOZ tokens in the coming years under a vesting schedule.

In return, they have launched a platform where you can buy their token as a form of contribution to Efficiency projects. (And contribute to pay them by creating a secondary market for all those vested tokens they'll unlock each month). They are essentially crowdfunding efficiency projects AND connecting clients and providers of these efficiency measures. The resulting energy savings have a market of their own, as we all are probably aware of. Those savings are then diverted to another secondary token, called MWOZ (Yeah, really..)

Contributors earn these MWOZ tokens which can be sold or used to offset your own bills (a planned functionality). On the surface, like all the other projects with "ICO" in their name, this is an idea that could work. Whether it does or not is up in the air as always with these things.

I doubt the artificial gold will be of thesame quality or of thesame value as natural Gold. Maybe call it Clone of Gold or something.. More like how you have Bitcoin and many Bitcoin clones which look similar but are not exactly thesame. So real Gold, as real Bitcoin will remain scarce and can't be counterfeited

On what company's balance sheet? :P He left Apple in the 80s. And even if he still has Apple shares(not sure how much, but he's sold a lot back then), he wouldn't have enough power to affect Apple's decisions concerning their balance sheet.

Industry leaders are clearly divided into three parts about bitcoin.

1. Bullish and ultra bullish - Elon Musk, Robert Wozniak etc.
2. Bearish - Jemie Dimon, Warren Buffet etc.
3. Not interested- remaining all

Some says bitcoin is a miracle, some says it would reach 1 million dollars per bitcoin in future. There are also people who says bitcoin will be banned as it is bad for economy.

So my suggestion is that, keep on listening to them but when it comes to your decision, use your own brain and do what you think is best for you. No need to listen to any of these industry leaders. You are likely to get more confused!

A little bit contradictory, no? If he doesn't invest in bitcoin it means he isn't a bitcoin adopter, at same time he call it a miracle and would like to see bitcoin as global single currency. ???
If it were actually true, he would want to be part of bitcoin community, otherwise it just looks like he wants some sympathy from bitcoin enthusiasts to his own crypto project that has nothing to do with bitcoin. After Elon Musk I think a lot of people learned to not listen to beautiful words and they were 100% legit.

I agree with him but I do not agree the reason he is putting forth. Honestly gold is actually scarce at places and the value changes internationally very often. When we talk about bitcoins I for sure consider bitcoins to be superior as compared to other things and at the same time, some of my reasons are :
1. Potential of growth of Bitcoins is far more as compared to other valuable metals like : Gold.
2. It does not dip that bad but on the other hand with Bitcoins the dios can actually actually be turned into a good thing really easily.
3. You do not have a starting value with Bitcoins therefore it's very convenient for everyone.
4. You can not only use it as an investment but also pay for with it.

I do think we can easily see who achieved greater profits and gave people more chances to buy and hold.

I personally respect Steve Wozniak for his innovation and his skills and Steve Jobs made money and fame because of his contribution and skills and i am happy to hear what he has to say about the BTCitcoin market but the trend now is that someone come aboard and talk good about the market and then later on come back to bite the market, logically what she said is true, gold is unlimited unlike the limited number of BTCitcoin.

Gold is a chemical element, so it will either be gold or it won't be gold, there is no "quality" involved, this is not like natural leather and polyurethane.

Those type of positive statement will circulate more in the upcoming days as more and more industrial leaders are launching their own crypto projects. So, it's one kind of shilling as reporters will try to findout if they are having investment into bitcoin or having any connection with crypto based projects. But it's really good for bitcoiners while we're having fuds and market is on correction. But it's nothing new to diamond hand hodlers, IMHO.  :D

While I'm mostly against the unnecessary usage of tokens(though I haven't really researched Efforce), hey, at the very least Wozniak isn't pumping his token on Twitter unnecessarily like a lot of people. Did some quick digging and it seems like he hasn't Tweeted a single thing about Efforce.

These are just words and he has a stake when the cryptocurrency market goes up, that's why he is saying this thing. Also those AR and AI won't improve the life of people because it's not the first time a technology was said to make the lives of people much better which ended up as a false promise, there's still poverty, crime and war.

I watched some of his intervews, most of them interviews included in documentaries about Steve Jobs. Steve Wozniak came across as someone naive, and easily swindled from his money. He also had his own story about Steve Jobs commission an engineering job for him while he was with Atari. Jobs never paid him the full amount.

He does appear to be a bit careless about money as well as what he puts his weight behind. This may also be the reason that despite his technical acumen, Woz didn't really build anything great on his own after Apple. This is also one of the reasons that the project Efforce being talked about in this thread doesn't derive a lot of legitimacy from Steve's association. Coz he basically just finds the idea amazing and has put his name on it, yet, it is wholly possible that he doesn't really understand the business viability of crowd-funding efficiency infrastructure programs.

He has a lawsuit filed against him by someone who is claiming copyright infringement about the idea of starting a technology training institute inspired by his name. While defending himself he says this:

Steve Wozniak is a genius I respect his thinking...

I used to really like gold because I thought the price would continue to rise but didn't realize that the amount was unlimited so Bitcoin is a much better investment than gold, with a limited supply so that it can pump up the price every year.

Well, I don't think that Steve had only profit on his mind when he said this! I believe he was referring to what Bitcoin really is, and how helpful can be for uniting the world...

Now he has his own coin... and why not? I am sure that with his experience he will create something good! Probably he has Bitcoins and other coins he likes, but it's not a bad thing if he is focused on his own project!

It's always nice when some big names get more involved in crypto... I guess what Steve did is amazing, he didn't just get more involved, he will try to contribute with his own ideas and creations! That is more than simply investing and holding for profit!

I don't think we need to rely on Steve to know Bitcoin is better than Gold. With Bitcoin, you have privacy and borderless transactions, digitalized, decentralized and so much more.

Bitcoin's total supply is unchangeable 21 million. Gold's total supply is infinite because human can mine more gold on Earth or on other planets.

Some people surprise me every day with the way they think, and some obviously think he’s still at Apple as some important person - so even though he left the company back in 1985, they say he’s been at some ceremonial capacity at the company since 2019. It should be noted, however, that Wozniak was an innovator at Apple and that most of the inventions in the first 10 years can be attributed to him, while Jobs worked in marketing.

Everybody is going to be onboard when everyone can create their own money. After all his praises for Bitcoin, he still creates his own. Steve must have realized that Apple could die since coinbase is about to compete with Apple.

And then his Efforce (WOZX) is an energy-saving platform so it looks like he is teaming up with great people who want environment-friendly coins.

That is what differentiates Steve Wozniak from people like Buffet. Wozniak is a tech guy, he understands the transformational power of technology and also the economic and social implications. You could ask him about the newest technology in 20 years from now and he would still be able to see the potential in it and he would be a proponent anyway.

It is good to see he didn't retire yet. I am curious to see what he may still be able to achieve with his tech company.

I think this tends to be more for him who is actually looking for popularity to boost his own product, because lately there are more and more people talking about crypto or wanting to be directly involved in it. So there will be more and more people who will seek fame behind something. business, of course everyone already understands about it

Hes not wrong though despite what his intentions might have been when saying this. Bitcoin is better than gold I probably would not call Bitcoin a miracle but it is definitely better than gold as a currency and a reserve currency.

I think Bitcoin will be used like gold in the future and become a place where people store their worth rather than use it as a every day currency.

Lastly, I don't think that Woz said "Better than Gold", I think that somebody else made that crap up, Woz is a smart guy, and he isn't the type to buy lottery ticket (BTC), but he is rich, I'm surprised he's not a miner, but he's probably bored to shit with computer hw by now; He tinkered as a child post Apple went back to school and got his EE degree, but after that he just traveled and enjoyed his life, like somebody said since 1980's, so he's been a freeman for 40 years.

I hope Steve Wozniak's praising of Bitcoin is coming from somewhere genuine and solid, like he's had a close look into it and was truly amazed at the genius of it. If this is what Wozniak's statement is about, I think as a Bitcoin supporter I would feel glad that another person of this level of influence and caliber is now expressing support for the currency.

I think I wouldn't mind him having another project up his sleeve. In fairness he's not praising Bitcoin at the expense of putting it at a disadvantageous position in the end while promoting his own altcoin. That's what thousands of other altcoins have been doing.

Yes it's very good, but it's still not for the masses, he's a bitcoin lover that's why he takes such strong actions with it.

In my view, we are now starting to get a world divided on how they view and stand on Bitcoin with many personalities declaring their love for the coin and promoting it whenever they can and then those who dislike it and dropping it like a hot potato to the ground - of course the majority don't really care that is for now. And this is what can we expect with a game-changing innovation...there can be a time when it is a polarizing agent and we are seeing it now in action. How Bitcoin will be treated let's say on its 20th anniversary is something I am looking forward to.

I don't know if whether or not gold is less scarce than Bitcoin,but the main feature of Bitcoin is the blockchain.Scarcity is what gives market value of Bitcoin,but the blockchain is what gives security to BTC and makes Bitcoin a trusted payment network.I guess that the blockchain can be called a "mathematical miracle",but miracles don't happen in mathematics. ;D

I have been hearing that Efforce, but I have not really looked at it to understand what it’s all about. Just made a research now to check it out and it seems to me like it’s a really good project. Their project is focused on allowing contributors to benefit from energy savings around the world, which is quite good.

But, it seems to me the project has not much garnered the level of support it needs from investors to push it to a top position in the market. And finally, about his comments about cryptocurrencies, that’s for sure. Bitcoin is a valuable asset for anyone to hold. And right now that the only investment I am making.

As a form of new-age currency? Of course, bitcoin is a very beneficial and competent candidate. It's scarce enough that it cannot be manufactured or minted in conventional ways, plus there is a possibility of burning multiple unclaimed coins to amp up the value of bitcoin in the process. Add to this fact the technology that it brought along with it which is blockchain which is very versatile that itself or a future variation of it can be implemented in future forms of technology, comparable to the introduction of the industrial revolution in our society.
Gold can pretty much be manufactured, the large hadron collider at CERN is able to create few atoms of gold within the system. Laughable, yes but not for long. In the future, there will be a form of technology that will allow gold to be manufactured in a factory, much like diamonds nowadays. Bitcoin on the other hand can only be coded and minted using the native system that gave birth to it. Anything else that claims to be bitcoin but is not made thru this method is easily passable as a fraud.

While Wozniak's statements seem to be in favor of cryptocurrencies, if we look deep into it - it becomes clear that he only sees Bitcoin as an asset, comparing it to gold and making emphasis on its scarcity.

But then one question: if it's such a good investment opportunity, why don't you invest yourself?

Although it seems more like an attempt to promote the personal project Efforce, nevertheless, I think Wozniak's word will have an overall good impact on the perception of Bitcoin, so that's rather good news than bad.

I am not surprised after reading this article , tech giants are in love with crypto currencies because they believe they understand the ecosystem and that they are coming forward in support of it is a big push for cryptocurrencies. But the article also says that he started his own cryptocurrency which then leads us to one question: does he really believe in Bitcoin or is it just for his personal interest .
