I am thinking what is the importance of airdrop? What makes airdrop happened? what is driving it continue to give away? Is that only for promoting certain currencies? should the airdrop continues happening

They're free tokens and it's usual to have that for projects that want to increase their holders.

I haven't followed the airdrop for a long time because I feel the tokens given are just 'garbage'. there are also some good airdrops but they are very hard to find and depend on luck.

Its a way of generating hype because their customers can have free coins and they get a user base to be able to launch their product which then allows them to generate even more hype. It is all a fad though most of the time and most of them promise the same things and the free coins airdropped are usually worthless.

Create tokens for free and giving away it for free as well, if the token has any value in the future then you will get profits or else nothing is going to happen. Giveaway is solely for the promotion purpose and its actually a promotion they get for free.

Free is the most expensive. Because you have to spend precious time and energy in exchange for it.

I think airdrop will continuously happen because so much new project is releasing day by day. Some project is so worthy like Safepal Etc.

Airdrop is made for publicity.
Of course the Dev's or the team that created the airdrop and all their supporter.
To attract more investor to continue their project of course it is all about business.
No they could also promote it through bounty campaign or any other type of advertisement like posting it on some website but I think Airdrop is the cheapest way to promote the project.
For me yes it is a good one for both the team and the participants,
Perks for the team low cost advertisement and people would surely talk and share about it.
Perks on participants free MONEY.
