Title: Fake Coin98 - Scam
Post by: tvplus006 on July 20, 2021, 09:56:23 AM
What happened: Fake Coin98

Despite the identical name of the coin Coin98, the launchpad of which is currently being held on Binance, this coin has nothing in common with the original coin. The main purpose of this fraud is to sell a fake coin within the framework of the launchpad conducted on the binance. To achieve this goal, scammers use the free distribution of a fake Coin98 coin, the contract for which differs from the original coin, and sell this coin at a price that is ten times lower than the public sale price.
Fake Coin Contract Coin98: 0xA79370da5B478c60d22a144d3a810222d9169835
Contract of the original coin Coin98: 0xaEC945e04baF28b135Fa7c640f624f8D90F1C3a6

You can view more information about the original Coin98 coin here: https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/coin98/ico/ , https://www.binance.com/en/support/announcement/6f89120a6dfa4dd2b6a7e14e2912a1e1

I knew it someone will be copying this project. The coin98 will be listed on Binance launchpad and for sure this is enticing to scammers and will be used to lure some newbies into investing. Thanks for sharing this mate will definitely suppory your flag.

Anything to be available for scamming will be used by them. Does the fake coin98 have liquidity somewhere and being traded?

Yes, I received an airdrop with a fake Coin98, in order to check this scam and find out the smart contract of this coin in order to compare it with the original. And of course I tried to sell these 50 coins on Pancakeswap, but it is impossible to do this, because there is no liquidity there and there will never be)

So obviously they just literally make a copy of a token smart contract of the coin98. These scammers arent good if they want to have a realistic approach then they should have put some liquidity so it would become looks so real but nah! They literally used it only for scamming newbies.

So airdroppers thought they already hit a jackpot but just a mere token created for fun and this scheme.

If you look at the wallet transactions https://www.bscscan.com/address/0xa79370da5b478c60d22a144d3a810222d9169835 from which the distribution of fake Coin98 coins was made, we will see that several people transferred their BNB to them for the purchase of Coin98. It is obvious that they wanted to buy these coins ten times cheaper than the price of the upcoming launchpad and as a result bought coins that cannot be sold.

This trick is almost the same as the previous finding of $crypto$ KLAY even I saw the website is almost similar to the sale they provide so obviously this is an attempt by scamers to continue to drain investors' money for those who don't really know about Coin98, I think this is still under control with the same group because of the script is still the same and no changes.

I really appreciate finding this faster and I support the red tag.

They have found a way to sell these fake tokens using binance's launchpad hype. Since there is a lot of interest among people to buy these tokens, I would not be surprised if people would send money to scammers to buy these fake tokens. Because some people are so interested in quick profit that they do not have time to do a little research before investing in anything. You did a great job exposing this scam.

Flag supported and tagged.

Yes, it looks like this scam was created by the same scammers, only they are getting more brazen every time. Last time they didn't post their scam on our forum, and in the case of Coin98, they brought this shit to the forum in the form of ANN, Bounty and Airdrop, hoping that they will be able to better promote their scam here.

That's just a blatant Pyramiding Scheme with that referral commission feature that they have. It's good that we caught them early because these people are probably going to get a lot of victims if they were left to roam for awhile or got caught little bit late. It seems that some users are piecing the puzzle together that this isn't created by a newbie scammer and I support that because I think an amateur will have a hard time.

Sounds like there has always been an impersonator website of every single project which released on Binance launchpad in order to deceive noob investors who were carried away by the hype, earlier was Klaytn then as for now coin98. I bet those individuals also would try to impersonate the next project that releases on Binance launchpad

Flag has been supported, anyway

It's also possible, I think that more and more entrants come here then it's an opportunity for scamers to cheat with their tricks I think Binance's launch pad is of great interest so they will scheme with a new website even with tempting promotions, if beginners don't verify then they will get stuck even they will think they get cheap tokens from the price of the Binance launch pad, and unfortunately this trick has become pulgar everywhere to be spread even this forum they don't care anymore.
