Title: KnC Miner Jupiter for sale
Post by: suryc on March 26, 2014, 04:30:12 PM
I have 1 KnC Jupiter unit (November batch) which I'm offering for auction.
It is IN HAND and in the U.S. (Texas), but I'm willing to ship it anywhere if you cover the shipping costs.

The unit is hashing steadily at 560 Gh/sec on eligius. I'm told it can do a little better than this if you cool it more or tweak it. This one is just sitting on the desk at room temperature.
Here is the performance the last few days on eligius:
http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1JUq3qiYCmFXR1gJLwxrAkK6ZUcSuuYn7n

I'm happy to provide proof of ownership/performance to anyone who's bid I accept before any payment is made. Of course, I'm happy to escrow, but buyer pays the fees.  Buyer also pays actual shipping costs for the shipping method of their choice. I'm also willing to take payment in fiat in lieu of btc if you would prefer to do it that way.

Please bid in increments of 0.1 btc.
The auction will run until Monday, March 31 at 6AM GMT (2AM EDT). That way, I will be able to ship it out on Monday morning. I reserve the right to end the auction early.

Feel free to message me with any questions.

The November is slated to run about 670Gh/s from the factory, the pool should see within a few % of that. This implies you have an issue with some of the dies, have you done any diagnostics to see where the issue is?

There is no issue with this unit. It never goes down (you can see if you look at the eligius stats it has been running constantly without a problem). November Jupiters (very first batch, this was a day 1 shipment) did not run ever run at 670Gh/s from the factory, but people have been able to get them up to that speed by upgrading the firmware and doing some extra cooling. Again from eligius, you can see peak performance at about 670, but not sustained.   I don't really have the time or inclination to deal with tweaking it and, as I said in OP, mine is just sitting on my desk and kept at room temperature (72-75 degrees), which I think might hurt performance a little bit.

I'm actually no expert on this, so just to clarify: this unit has always run around 550Gh and my understanding has been that is normal for the first batch of Jupiters unless you do some tweaking/cooling (and there are firmware upgrades that I have not taken the time to install)...
However, if you tell me what diagnostics you want me to run, I will gladly do it and post the result.

Yes, escrow.com is fine. Keep bids in btc, will convert to $ based on bitstamp 24h avg at end of auction (24h avg as per http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/)

You have one slow November Jupiter. I have two, and they both hash between 650GH and 675GH without overclocking, and between 725GH and 750GH with overclocking using the latest firmware.

October Jupiters run at ~550GH, but it is not normal for a November Jupiter to run that slow. You definitely have some hardware issues that are causing this Jupiter to be so slow.

Important correction:, this is an OCTOBER JUPITER from the first batch produced by KnC. I took delivery on October 4, 2013. I can provide documentation (invoice/receipt) from KnC to the auction winner if they are interested. I've run diagnostics and I don't believe there are any hardware issues.

Sorry about the mistake, I got mixed up on the October/November distinction. Still a steal at 2.3 btc...

I'm hoping that wasn't intentional, though, because otherwise that was pretty slimy and unethical.   :-\

Far from it.  That's why I requested the seller offer the unit to you via PM.  I posted 24 minutes late.  Totally unintentional.

Hi dave, I figured it wasn't intentional on your part. It's the principle of the thing that bothered me. I should probably take a break from buying miners anyway.  :P

Sent email and pm to seller last night.  No response yet.  I'd like to get this shipped in the next 24 hours.

Dave would like me to offer you the miner first since his bid came in 20 minutes after the auction was supposed to end. I've sent you a PM, so let me know if you want it, otherwise, I will finalize the transaction with Dave.
