Title: What is stop loss and how it works
Post by: BIN-BIN on July 28, 2021, 11:04:16 PM
I have been in trading for some time now and as I become more experienced in trading; I discover some terms in trading that have captured my interest, as these terms help me gain knowledge to maximize profits and minimize loss.

One among them is the (stop loss feature) some exchanges have developed this feature to help traders set limits on their trading to help put a hold on trading once a certain price is reached, but again most traders still run into losses because they inability to use this tool effectively.

That brings me down to my question, what is the best way to apply the stop loss features that will guarantee zero loss, and which exchange has the best and easy-to-use live trading features.

Guaranteed zero loss? It isnt possible and stop loss itself is just talking about cutting your loss when price tends to go lower on where you had set it out.So that already counts as loss.

When it comes to exchange platform then i do mainly suggest Binance or Kucoin. When it comes to indicators and tools then they do really have option for you to neither use beginner or advanced.

Dont force yourself on avoiding loss because theres no such thing about perfect trades. There are lots of tutorials in Youtube about on how to make use of stoplosses and its really helpful.
This is just only good when you are just day trading.

A lot of exchanges like etoro/trading212/primexbt have quite a handy feature for previewing your stop losses before setting them - they'll tell you how much you're likely to lose by setting the stop loss where you've put it.

Don't overrisk or overleverage on anything though. If you're risking 1% on each trade and not making a profit overall, you're risking too much- the best way to learn how to trade is to experience it (but without any yolo bets).

Though similar to that. Every time I do research about cryptocurrency and all of it's platforms which add up to my knowledge and learnings about cryptocurrency. As I remember stop loss is designed to limit an investor's on an security position. Stop loss works by automatically closing a crypto position when the price hits a pre-determined level. Stop-losses are essential for risk management; traders can calculate what position size to take and how much money to risk in a single trade.

Stop loss is the level where you would want to set your maximum bearable loss for a specific trade. It helps you save some dollars rather than losing everything in that trade. Stop loss also helps you decide your risk:reward and calculating it while trading helps you gain much better profits. On Binance, you will need to set two stops (one for take profit and one for stop loss) because after their update, we cannot see any other option but to add two stops to prevent our position from going out of hands.

what is the best way to apply the stop loss features that will guarantee zero loss,
This is impossible. You're doing a stop loss because you're already losing and that's inevitable when you apply this strategy. You can stop loss if you ever meet 1% loss or more up to the amount of loss that you're okay to bear. And for more discussion, there's already a thread for the importance of stop loss. You will see people how they're stopping loss and how important it is and how it has changed their trading style. The link of the thread below.

I'll try to explain it via example:
1. Imagine you bought BNB at the price 20.0
2. Price went up to 21.0 but you think that it may fall but at the same time don't want to end up in minus, so
3. You set price loss 20.4
4. It may not close exactly at 20.4, it depends on the loss rate, so, if it falls quickly, you may have to consider that instead of 20.4 it will close at 20.27 or something similar and you preserve yourself.
5. Also, if you set 20.0 and the loss rate would be high, you wouldn't be left with 0 profit but instead, it may close at 19.7 and you'll end up with some loss.

Based on my experience with the stop-loss feature it won't trigger or be filled if you didn't set it properly the stop limit price should be lower than the limit price so that it will trigger when the price touches the stop limit price. You can set it to a 5-10% gap.
Also, don't set the stop limit near the current price it won't trigger based on my experienced.

Here's a quick guide to easily understand how it works.

If you trade on Binance I suggest you check OCO it also has a stop-limit feature but this one is best for "locking potential profits or limiting risks".

You can search of Google what is stop-loss but I helped you to get some examples:

https://coinsutra.com/stop-loss-stop-limit/
https://www.mynewsdesk.com/se/coinpanel/blog_posts/why-are-stop-losses-important-when-trading-crypto-99745
https://tradesanta.com/blog/stop-loss

I am sure you will find tons of articles, including examples of how to use stop-loss on the internet.

Basically, stop-loss is how you can limit your losses, especially if the market is unpredictable and do not know when the price will go down. You use this feature to save your funds from a big loss. As per my experience, using stop-loss is help me a lot to quit from the market immediately when the price gets dump too deep. But we will have our own way of using the stop-loss feature.

-snip-
one can set a price to automatically placing a sell order when a certain price is reached. But I still need more explanation.
That's exactly the point, yes. You can see a stop loss (SL) as a lifeline that prevents you from taking too high losses when the price suddenly crashes ... But stop loss can also be used to hedge profits, especially in risky trades (Bitcoin has a steep price rise, ...). Here, for example, you can push the stop loss limit gradually upwards - one of the most beautiful things to do as a trader ;)

Just to set the record straight, you can not escape making a loss in trading because of several factors at play like spreads, market manipulation, stop hunts etc. Losses are part of winning in trading.

That brings me down to my question, what is the best way to apply the stop loss features that will guarantee zero loss, and which exchange has the best and easy-to-use live trading features.
Zero loss doesn't exist in trading,  if someone told you they didn't make any loss then its all lies, can't your ties with them.

Btw when you are using a stop loss this is meant to minimize the loss you might suffer if running an open trade and it goes against your anticipated move.

Zero losses actually exist if you apply shift stop loss. You may ask how do I mean. Let me explain let's assume you entered a trade and you have started seeing profit and you still want to hold on to your position because your analysis is still in the direction of your profit you can shift your stop loss either to your entry point or above your entry point that way you will exit with a zero loss if the trade goes against you

One of the Best Weapons in Trading (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5173189.0)

You will need to use Stop limit order to support stop loss order. When market crashes, Stop limit order will help to save your capital. Sometimes, stop loss orders will not be activated without Stop limit orders, with bad connections to exchanges or unstable operations of exchanges.

Stop loss is a tools in trading that can help you to avoid big losses, you can always execute it every time you trade and it's very safe and useful tools to keep your money safe from the volatility of the market. In fact you can actually learn this kind of stuff through youtube if you want to. because for me in my personal opinion through watching video is very informative than other way of learning , wherein on that way you can actually apply it quickly as its like a real training, especially if it's a step by step tutorial it's very basic way if at the same time you're really interested to have such knowledge when it comes trading. ;)

In case stop loss is difficult to use you can still adopt stop limit both work similar things in different formats it would be wise if you expand more on both then get the one which would likely be more convenient for you but understanding the both will help you decide which to use depending on the nature of your trade at any point in time.

There is nothing that can guarantee to avoid your losses. You must understand that before you read or think anything else.

Now coming to the stop-loss feature, it only is meant to help cut your losses and avoid emotional holding of shit coins. If something is dropping you better sell-off and leave rather than catching or holding the falling knife. You can just read stop-loss twice and you will realize it is only meant to stop the bleeding (loss) and cannot guarantee profits or cut down losses completely.

just like what I do, youtube is my mainstay to learn something, with videos we can learn more clearly. As far as I know, with stop loss, we avoid bigger losses by exiting the market automatically according to the stoploss price we set. but we have to be mentally prepared sometimes when the stop loss works, suddenly the price goes back up

Everyone explained it well enough, I mean there isn't much to explain at this point about it. You can also check https://academy.binance.com/en/articles/what-is-a-stop-limit-order here as well, this will show you and explain to you as professionally as it gets from the best place in exchange world as well.

At the end of the day how good stop loss is only thing that we could argue about here, and I believe if you use it wrongfully then we are going to end up with something horrible in the long run as well, you should learn how to use it properly and without knowing how awesome it could be then you will use it horribly and that will make you think that stop loss as a bad thing. So, what you should do is not to just read about it, but then we should study it on live action as well, test it with small amounts, test it in demo game places and you will get the power of it eventually.

Stop loss is an efffective feature of finance max through which you can be safe from the big loss even we can't say that it can prevent you from a small loss or even zero loss but at a situation it is beneficial for the users. Always try to point stop loss whenever you don't know much about the coin price.

Youtube has so many stop-loss lessons from many traders to improve our skills and know when we should use stop-loss. Using stop-loss can be the way for us to prevent a big loss, especially if the market moves strangely and we are hard to analyze the situation. But many of us do not use a stop-loss feature because they feel confident with their skills and pretend that they really know where the market will go. That will be dangerous for them as they can get a big loss, especially if the coin price gets dump and we can not save our funds from the loss.

You can safe your trade from big loss. And take entry in down.you can use stoploss at 5 to 10% from your buying price. because market is very volitile.if you interested how to use proper stoploss you can see vedios on YouTube about this useful tool.as my experience you can learn fast then you can start trading because without knowledge you can loss you money.

"I have been in trading for some time now" - you're kidding, right?

You can't be "in trading" and don't know what is a stop-loss. I can't conceive trading with at least a mental stop-loss, an area you know your trade idea has been invalidated (you are wrong in your interpretation of the market). IMO stop-losses should be an essential tool for any trader. You can't know what all the market participants are pursuing with their positions at any point in time so it is only logically that you have a way to exit your position. If not, your loss would just get bigger and bigger.

Stoploss means a trader is ok to lose for the gains. If your trade goes wrong you can easily cut the loss and out from the position. So you have to lose some buck here, With a stop loss, you also need to know risk management. Zero loss and stop loss are two different stuff and there is no "guaranteed" thing in terms of investment matter. You can't call that zero loss either because you already lost something at the process of doing the investment in regards of time, internet and your health(if you force to do so)

In placing stoploss, of course, don't get too close to the current market movement, so that we can provide room for the market to work. many do it by placing a stop loss close to the market movement, so there are many events when the stop loss is touched, after that the market goes up again. but that's the kind of risk in trading. therefore we strive to always place a stop loss on every trade, when we cannot monitor the market then if there is an analysis error, we will exit the transaction when the candle touches the stop loss, thereby reducing losses

Reading your post, I think you don't have a clear knowledge about what stop loss is. Stop loss as the name is, is to stop your trade from further losses. It means you activate an amount of loss you want to incur in a particular trade order.. So when you enter that trade, you already had it in mind that you have lost that portion of money in your account to that trade, or it means you are staking that part of your money to the profit you are gunning for which is your (Take profit).

There are no best way to apply stop loss. Understand that you apply it so that your losses will not run out your deposit.

Trading is for profit or lose. You activate Stop loss to reduce your risk of losses against profit. Once you enter a trade, you either lose or profit , there are no short cut on that but stop loss is good because you have more chances to make another trade after you lose initial order.

You can use it to prevent losses from the volatility of the market, like for example if you place order and the candles is showing a tends to make false break out then you can execute stop loss to close your order once it happen. actually it's a good idea to use stop loss very often not when needed only because crypto market is so unpredictable so it always good to have back up every time you trade so that your money is always safe.. Coz for me it's the most important tools especially if you don't have so much time to monitor the performance of the coin you preferred to trade..

Even though we will all experience losses when trading, even professional traders must have experienced losses. Since crypto trading at highly
volatile prices is almost impossible not to lose, and the stop-loss feature serves to minimize the losses we experience. So when the market
suddenly dumps, we can stop trading with the stop-loss feature, to avoid bigger losses.

Stop loss is a limitation of the particular losses, if you think the losses is becoming very big you can cut it off or stop that loss. You need to set a limit the to avoid very big loss that is what we called stop loss. Setting a limit is very important not only when price is falling we also need to set a limit when the price is rising to have an assurance of gaining.

There is no zero loss guarantee. We are in a crypto market where the market price is unstable. That is why there is a "stop loss" feature to save you from totally liquidation. There are actually a lot of videos online that explains how those stop loss works. You may try to watch this  (https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjA87mbxpPyAhUZad4KHfGMBWcQwqsBegQICBAB&url=https%3A%2F%2Fm.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DO2GzoYmeg0I&usg=AOvVaw1lnuXKNRxryO7iqqqwlPAu).

That may also helps you how to use it in a right way as we should always integrate in every trade we make.

Most new traders don't like using stop losses because they always get hit and usually reverse right after. So alot of new traders just don't use them at all. Because sometimes it always goes to a loss and then break-even and then profit. The issue with not using a stop is you will eventually become a bad holder and long term investor and its never smart. Look at how bad some alts did hurting bear markets where they hit 99% loss or so. Hence you should always use a stop, if it gets hit then just widen it but always use a stop.

Most scalpers know where people put their stops and thats where they time their entries and exits. Usually at the daily high or low, or at some retested old support/resistance area and usually near round numbers like $40000 or $50000 or so. SO if you want to take advantage you should use this knowledge in your trading and make some profit out of it.

Bad holder? might be an appropriate term to address the consequence of not making use of stoploss levels. In my view, those bad holders will eventually lose all other opportunities to cover the losses if they have opted to exit at stoploss levels. This way, they might have saved both time and money. If you consider time is another important criteria for your trading then you must go for stoploss levels if you are trading any alt or shorting bitcoins.

Yeah to save all the traders regardless of their skill levels. I mean stoploss is important for both pro traders and  naive traders. But, people start ignoring it when they gain experiences which must be a the simple reason why loss seems an inevitable event in trading.

Therefore, those who intend to trade crypto, must be prepared to accept losses, because it's a fact that everyone who trades crypto must
experience losses. So what we need to do is not to avoid losses, but try to minimize the losses suffered. Actually there are many ways for us
to minimize losses, and the most popular is to use the stop-loss feature. Based on my experience using the stop-loss feature, I managed to
save some of the capital I had several times during the market dump. It is not easy to use the stop-loss feature, because we must have
a strong mentality to accept losses. It takes practice so that we can use the stop-loss feature properly.

It is not easy to use the stop-loss feature, because we must have a strong mentality to accept losses. It takes practice so that we can use the stop-loss feature properly.
I guess you are taking stoploss as a very big thing while trading but you must treat it like just as part of your trading activities so that you will easily get used to it. Moreover, when you are good at your technical analysis then only very rarely alone you may hit stoploss so you can easily accept your losses and move on to another trade to recover your losses and at the same time if you are not good in technical things and you may happen to hit stoploss more often then you must need to prepare yourself to use stoploss for your all trades.

although we are good at analyzing and rarely about stop losses, but the market is not always as tame as we think. therefore to always be vigilant even though we are sure that our transaction will succeed in hitting the target. Many people feel smart so they ignore the use of stoplos, when they are lulled into one transaction, they will experience big losses. then we must be able to act normal

I don’t think there is any stop loss that stops your trade from making any loss at all. There is still going to be loss, just that you now have a tool that can help you to shorten that loss. That’s the actual work of the stop loss tool. And when you’re making use of the stop loss tool you’re the one that sets up the order it takes. So, it is working according to your order. Let’s say that you decide to set it to stop loss at -2%, the stop loss is going to activate once the market goes below that 2% and save you from further loss. If you set it at 2%, that doesn’t mean it’s going to stop exactly at 2%, it’s going to stop anywhere around that.

Risk control is the prerequisite for any investment, and strict stop loss is the core content of risk control. Stop loss is used to protect the safety of investors' funds and reduce investment risks.
The specific stop loss method should be combined with the specific trading system. Blind stop loss and trading that do not understand stop loss will also fail.

Stop-loss as discussed by various posters here, is good technique to trade if you are too busy person to look after your trades all the time. However, I feel that    sometimes we need to be in alert mode so that we can earn more profits. I agree that stop-loss could be great to overcome the greed, stop the trade on time and etc but sometime playing the trade with full flexibility could be overwhelming. The trade might go below let's say 5-10% but what if it goes fully bullish and gives you returns more than 10-20%? There are so many coins and open market to trade with such capacity and I believe that it's worth noticing that stop-loss could sometime take you on the wrong turn too.

You can't put a stop loss that guarantee zero loss. Using a stop loss is to avoid losing more it means cutting your losses early to avoid expensive losses, if you don't want to lose it's much better not to enter a trade in the first place you should know that at some point you will experience losses along the way it's unavoidable and only stop loss can help you.

Stop loss to overcome the greediness? I guess it is something new that I have never come across before. Do you mean exiting after some profits is also kind of stoploss level? Because, we do call it like target level. Only when market is going as per our prediction we become greed and when market is moving down against us then we may usually get panic.

if you don't want to lose it's much better not to enter a trade in the first place
If a trader is not ready to lose then they should not remain as a trader at all. Only those people who are ready to risk  and ready to lose (at least at calculated manner), should become trader and remain trader.

Zero losses actually exist if you apply shift stop loss. You may ask how do I mean. Let me explain let's assume you entered a trade and you have started seeing profit and you still want to hold on to your position because your analysis is still in the direction of your profit you can shift your stop loss either to your entry point or above your entry point that way you will exit with a zero loss if the trade goes against you
Stop loss can't keep zero loss, I don't know how you explain it. We all know how volatile top coins are, setting it close will just trigger the sale as soon as small shift, which can deny the immediate pump for the small and short term dip.

If you mean it so well, stop loss was just an idea of what you can afford to loss as you bid for last cheap price for what you're going to sell. Eventually, you'll able to prevent certain loss when you have the opportunity to halt when price setting will not be put into closure of bidding. More importantly, you knew where to take actions during sudden price spikes because that's the time you'll be setting a best price in order to recover the loses you had.

So when we use stop loss in future trade meanwhile our skills not enough, this SL will easily hit. if this condition happen many time , i am believe our balance will slowly decrease.

You refer about prices jumping and skipping the stoploss levels? That might have possibilities to happen but different exchanges are having different provisions to overcome that and the maximum solution could be triggering the stoploss order at next available prices.

If you go for stoploss at your own affordable levels then market may eat your stoploss order then may go recovering toward your target levels. Hence your stoploss levels should be as your technical levels or simply at trend changing points. So, that market will not recover and enter into the opposite direction than your predictions.

Many traders do not use a stop loss and close unprofitable positions manually, at the moment when the price falls below the support level, and then returns to it for testing. But this method of closing unprofitable positions can be used if the trader is constantly in front of the terminal. and it can track price changes in a timely manner.

Even myself wouldnt really see for it to be that relevant specially when you do make shorter or active trades because it would really be just easily to be tripped or eaten if price volatility
would really be that high but depending on how much you had set or what time frame you've been engaging.

I do only see this to be relevant for 1d TF with price swing type of trading which had done by some people but most of the time it isnt really that been used since we do have
different takings and the way of using SL's.

It will really from person to person on how it would be used and on when it would be used.

That brings me down to my question, what is the best way to apply the stop loss features that will guarantee zero loss, and which exchange has the best and easy-to-use live trading features.

For all exchanges I have used, I think binance has been the best in my opinion, their user interface are quite user friendly and easily understandable. Binance also has the stop loss features so you won't be missing if you decide to use the exchange. You have to be willing to give up some sensitive information though through KYC procedures if you want to enjoy all, that the exchange has to offer because if you verify your account you enjoy others privilege that the average users won't although you can use the exchange without verification but your withdrawal is limited.

If you want to get the best out of stop loss feature like the guarantee zero loss you speak off, you have to monitor your trade to take advantage of the opportunity it offers when you're in profit. Initially the stop loss can be updated with values a little bit lower than your entry point bit after been in some gains, you should adjust that stop loss to values above your entry price.

With this strategy, your stop loss now becomes your take profit price in the sense that, you'll always be in the trades unless something was to happen and the price falk ti your stop loss price which the market will kick you out to protect you but instead of it been in small fractions of loss, you'll be in profit since you were constantly adjusting your stop loss price to higher values as the profits keep coming in and turning your stop loss to take profit order..

I use STOP - Loss when I buy at the support and there is a trend reversal, for example if a certain asset is falling a lot and arrives at the support and then some trend reversal pattern appears, I buy and place a stop - loss. you can see videos of how to correctly place stop - loss, it is complicated for someone in a forum to show their trade and stop - loss strategy

Stop loss is when you are limiting your trading into a specific point to minimize the amount of loss you can acquire while you are doing trading so that instead of total loss, you can still have some of your funds left with you. By this way you can somehow have a control within your funds not to exceed its limit leaving you with nothing. Stop loss feature is really a helpful one specially for those who are just starting their journey with trading and even veterans for you are having a helping tool to minimize the loss effect in any of your trading to save up your money wisely.

In my opinion, stop loss means that we can manage our loss and minimize our loss. Many people set this feature in certain exchanges in order to manage the funds to lose and change into something better in other coins again. Sometimes, we are not a holder so we must make the money to cycle always, trade them and get the profits. Although it needs to stop loss, it doesn't mean that we will always lose our money. But for this stop loss, we may be able to change the money to buy and trade other coins and possibly to get profits from another trading.

That is definitely a problem, you have expectations that are out of line with the reality, stop losses as the name implies is a tool that help you to limit your losses, but it is never going to help you to eliminate your losses completely, it does not mater how good a trader you believe you are, you are going to lose money in the markets, the difference is that the good traders limit their losses so they can keep trading and make good trades while newbies despite knowing this ignore it and then lose so much money that regardless of their level of skill it will be impossible to recover from such losses.

Stop Loss is an important tool of trading and it has gained a lot of popularity in modern trading. You can avoid big losses by using stop loss, but in all cases, zero loss is not reasonable. This is because stop loss is usually used in the Side-way market and is used to hold up to a certain loss according to market analysis after purchase. However, if the market is somewhat positive after taking the trade and if you then use stop loss up to your purchase price, then there is a possibility of zero loss. However, in the case of trading, a trader takes the trade very lightly and uses the Stop Loss tool to try to reduce the risk of loss due to the reverse behavior of the trading in general.

Stop-loss is an amazing risk management feature that helps to reduce the amount of losses a trader would suffer if he uses it. Stop-loss is very important because it helps a trader get out of a trade that goes in the opposite direction of the trader's prediction, that would otherwise have resulted in liquidation of assets.
However, many traders don't use because they strongly belive in their ability to make accurate predictions. The market is very volatile and is not controlled by one person which means that a trader cannot be accurate with his predictions all of the time. And this reiterate the importance of using Stop-loss as a trader.

Stop-loss can be defined as an advance order to sell an asset when it reaches a particular price point. It is used to limit loss or gain in a trade. The concept can be used for short-term as well as long-term trading.
It means investor instructs in advance to sell the coin when it reaches pre-set limit so investor can limit its loss.

Stop loss is commonly used for every trader, it is used whenever you want to limit your loss if the price will keep going down. You have to set the price and if the price goes down continuously to the point that it reaches the value you have settled then it will automatically be sold. You can use stop-loss if you are going to sleep so if ever the price crash you can still save your investment.

Yes it's really a life saver at one time I bought a new coin that pumps and dumps to around 70% luckily with the stop loss I managed only to lose around 10% only because of the stop loss. You can try to take a look simple tutorial on youtube on how does stop loss work, it was really useful.

stoploss can help us from bigger losses. maybe as a picture like this. at this time the market is not running according to our analysis, and we set a stop loss at a certain price with a loss rate of 10%, so that if the market touches that price, our transaction will automatically close itself. so that if the price continues to fall, then we don't lose more money

Many people when they place the Stop Loss they move it since the operation is on the favorable path, I think it happens in the exchanges that only have to place "Stop Loss" or "Take Profit", although there are exchanges that allow you to have both.

There were many times when I used the Stop Loss on Bitmex and the Stop Loss did not stop the transaction, and I kept losing, and then I realized that I had to put it to start closing long before I hit the price, those are details. not. I knew it, but it happened to me because I had not used the tool with play money, if I had used the tool with play money I learn to know the protocols, in Bitmex if you do not react quickly you can lose almost everything, I think that for these tools you need to practice it previously so you don't risk losing money for mistakes like that.

When traders start a trade, they usually put a stop-loss. Stop-loss are first intended to limit the amount of money that can be lost in a trade. A stop-loss order is a request to a broker to purchase or sell a specific stock at a specific price once it hits that price. A stop-loss order is used to keep an investor's loss on a security position to a minimum. Setting a stop-loss order 10% below the price at which you bought the stock, for example, will restrict your loss to 10%.

A stop-loss order—also known as a stop order—is a type of computer-activated, advanced trade tool that most brokers allow. The order specifies that an investor wants to execute a trade for a given stock, but only if a specified price level is reached during trading.
Stop-loss orders differ from a conventional market order. With market orders, the investor specifies that they wish to trade a given number of shares of a stock at the current market-clearing price. Using a market order, the investor cannot specify the execution price. However, the stop-loss allows an investor-specified limit price.

Stop loss is an strategy to minimize the losses that you possibly get in trading, it is something like setting a limit on every trade or holdings, if you don't set a limit you will possibly loss a big amount when the price of the coin that you invested drop so hard, that is why stop loss is very important.

stop-loss doesn't mean zero loss, it means cutting your loss just up to a pre-calculated mark, for example, if you buy something at $100, you expect it to move to $120 but fear that it might even tumble down to $80, but you are sure that it would get to $80 only if it breaks the support available at $95, now what an intelligent trader would do here is that he will put a stop loss at around $94, it can be set following these steps:
1. First you have to enter a trigger price, it's obvious if you directly put a limit selling order of $94 the transaction would get executed immediately, so we need to set up a trigger price reaching which the order will go into the order book, we set it to $94.5.
2. Now I'll put my selling price a bit below(Advisable) the stop loss trigger price, it's done to ensure that your order reaches the order book in time because in times of quick sell of even your stop-loss doesn't get hit many times. So either use a market stop or put the limit price half a dollar below the trigger.

You are done, if your coin goes to 95 you'll be sold with a loss of just $5 which could have been $20, and if it goes up you are just making profits no losses.

That's because they're yet to understand how to effectively use the stop loss feature. Lets assume there's a general conception of Bitcoin following to a certain price and you're current on that trade. Setting your stop loss at exactly that price would be deadly. There's huge manipulations ongoing by whales in the cryptocurency market and they seem not to not care what happens to others while they win.

The whales can easily manipulate a trade making it fall below the average stop loss which is the last well know support of Bitcoin just to eat up all the stop loss orders at that price. Yours should always be some safe zone form thus manipulation.

Stop loss is a very vital to have a successful traders unless you're an active traders constantly monitoring the market which i won't advice anymore to undergo such stress when you can make the automated system handle this for you plus the health issue that such practice will result to.

actually stoploss does not 100% guarantee our assets are safe.  but at least it can be a benchmark for the safe limit of our assets so that there will be no bigger losses.  I think stop loss should be learned because not everyone or traders are successful if they use stop loss
What the stop loss really does is that it gives a limit to the amount of money we can lose in a single trade and if we pair this up with good money management skills then your losses are going to be limited in scope and size and that is critical if we are to become successful traders, in fact in some studies that I have seen having good money management skills and being able to use a stop order the right way has been directly linked to winning traders as two of the most important aspects that you need to master if you are to become a good trader.

Stop loss is an order or order to close a position that is useful for limiting losses within a certain value. Or it can also be said that Stop Loss is the lowest price limit value that is determined to limit losses. When the price movement touches this value, the system will automatically close the order or position. By using this Stop loss, traders are able to limit unwanted losses, if there is a loss that is too deep, the trader can limit the losses that have been determined. Setting a stop loss is much more important than setting a profit target.

Stop loss is an strategy to minimize the losses that you possibly get in trading, it is something like setting a limit on every trade or holdings, if you don't set a limit you will possibly loss a big amount when the price of the coin that you invested drop so hard, that is why stop loss is very important.
Indeed. Stop loss will help you minimize losses or limiting losses within a certain value. It should be mandatory to all of the beginners because they have no experience and practice. Stop loss is such a life saver and is very important in trading. Maybe some of us have a different strategies in trading but Stop loss will help you to limit losses and earn higher as what you expected.

The top traders are also using stop loss to save themselves from a bigger loss. So, i prefer to every trader that they should use stop loss although we didn't know about the coins.

Setting a stop loss is much more important than setting a profit target.

In fact there are many operators who use the stop loss to obtain profits, that is, they put a price established with their "Stop Loss", if the price touches it it does not matter, because the loss is assumed, but if the price goes in favor many traders move the stop loss higher taking advantage of the move in profit.

Of course this implies being stuck in the market all the time to move the stop loss, it is a strategy that will always be protected, this happens many times when the Exchange under which it is operated does not have the "Stop loss" in the same operation and the "Take Profit" this is something that usually happens there, however other more ambitious traders still having these options make a re-entry or take profits and continue without losing their position.

A stop-loss order is an order placed with a broker to buy or sell a specific stock once the stock reaches a certain price. A stop-loss is designed to limit an investor's loss on a security position. For example, setting a stop-loss order for 10% below the price at which you bought the stock will limit your loss to 10%.

When setting a stop loss, you need to be guided by the support and resistance levels. And set a stop loss below the support level if you open a long order and, accordingly, above the resistance level if you open a short order. If you set a stop loss at 10%, ignoring the support and resistance levels, then this strategy will lead to the loss of the deposit.

Some people really misunderstand about stop-losses, they think using stop-losses will prevent them from losing. Even though every time we trade,
we must experience losses, but we can minimize the losses we experience by using stop-losses. Moreover, trading crypto with volatile prices has
a very high risk. So if trading without using stop-loss, most likely we will lose all the capital we have. So stop-losses must be used if we want to
trade crypto.

If you don't want to lose money, it's much better not to trade in the first place. You should be aware that losses will occur at some time, it's unavoidable, and only stop loss can help you.

If you are constantly in front of the terminal, it is better to close the payment orders manually, after the price of the coin is fixed below the support level. Because very often there is a situation in the market when the price drops below the support level and then returns to its original value. In this case, you will lose your money using a stop loss. The use of stop loss is mandatory for margin trading, when you can not directly accompany the transaction.

Ever since stop loss became a known thing, everyone is making this to be the greatest invention since slice bread. I mean I get it, stop loss is good if you are not going to be online and you are worried that it will drop, however it is not as awesome as everyone makes it out to be. First of all unless you are already in big profit, the moment you are in a loss and stop loss makes you sell, that means you are going to end up losing a ton of money AND need to recover that loss somehow, but if you kept it and waited for it to go back up then you could have profited from it as well.

I do not get the whole shebang about the stop loss made by people, it is not something that is incredibly difficult, it is something that is expected and everyone should be used to it by now. In any case, stop loss is good, it is decent, but it is not really awesome, it is risky when you use it wrongfully.

Because it will save your trades from doing so and can prolong your stay in the exchanges if you're good at stopping your losses. Traders tend to do that to avoid losing big.

And at the same time to recover some and continue.

I understand that the Stop Limit is for when it reaches a certain price level the order begins to fill and when it is completed it is executed, the difference is that when only stop Loss is used, sometimes it does not take it when it touches the level of prices, especially when there are very fast movements, they are only taken when going to the Market, I really always use Stop Limit to protect myself, this happens very often in binance, when you are in Bitmex you have to be very careful because sometimes it is not taken the Stop Loss, because the order has not been filled, that is the way I understand it.

Stop-loss is an advance order to sell an asset when it reaches a particular price point. It is used to limit loss or gain in a trade. The concept can be used for short-term as well as long-term trading. This is an automatic order that an investor places in a trade. Stop-loss is also known as ‘stop order’ or ‘stop-market order’. By placing a stop-loss order, the investor instructs the broker/agent to sell a security when it reaches a pre-set price limit. The stop loss order helps to protect your capital from the market and also plays a very important role in risk management. Successful traders always adivce a good use of stop loss

Stop loss will only be effective if you can follow it because most of the time, traders tend to be more greedy and forgot about setting stop loss when in fact it's a very helpful tool. Well, stop loss is a trading tool designed to limit the maximum loss of a trade by automatically liquidating assets once the market price reaches a specified value. There is no way that you can't experience losses in trading because even if you use stop loss alone, it only means that you are in a state of loss already. And yes, binance could be a perfect choice for trading crypto exchange.

Stop loss is a feature on trading exchanges or platform that enables the trader to set a price or range that he/she is not willing to lose more than the loss already incurred, so once the trade goes against him/her till the level of the stop loss, the exchange automatically closes the trade on their behalf. Unlike what you said, stop loss is not used to avoid loss, it is only used to minimize the extent of the loss.

The stop loss feature is made with some probelms for a reason and the zero loss idea does not exist, otherwise all the exchanges would be closed right now , because that is how they make their money, there are a lot of way that you can set up a stop moss in a way that you get the most profit if the price rebounds and minimize the loses if the price goes the other way around, it is really that simple and only requires you to know the limits of the market.

Speaking of stop loss will not work optimally as we expect, many people use a stop loss strategy with the result of minimizing losses. like you said, it's better to save a few bucks than to lose it all. The market is very volatile all the techniques we use very rarely work 100% as expected right. I in the crypto space have had some bad experiences and so far I have studied various trading techniques including stop loss and this works to minimize losses, can't prevent losses accurately.

Guarantee zero loss ? No I think not. I think stop loss is to prevent you from lossing more money because the price is going down. Like other techniques, it still has a risk because after cutting your loss, price might go up without your proper analyzation like what happened to the beginner in trading I've met a couple of months ago. But still, it is good in a way that you did not loss everything and still save some of your money.

For a note, there are no zero loss in trading. Stop loss is something that help us minimize our loss, or at least help people who not much have time to see market. About zero loss, i think it is better to focus how to gain profit although a little, than focus on how much we will lose because profit and lose all have possibility especially in future trading.

That's why stop-loss is there for you to minimize the potential loss that you're about to make. Because if you don't do that, you're only losing money without doing anything.
This is whether you're a trader and even someone who holds, they can also do the thing.

This is what many do not get, a stop loss is not only there to take you out of a bad trade and protect your capital, it also protects you from taking huge risks, this is is why it is important to have one as the volatility of the market of cryptocurrencies can be extreme, and if at the same time you are trading without a stop loss and you are using leverage then this could lead to even more extreme losses, as leverage basically multiplies your risk as many times as the leverage you are taking.

In reality, if you want to, you can study this type of things on YouTube. Because, in my opinion, watching videos is more informative than other methods of learning because you can apply it quickly as if you were in a real training, especially if it's a step-by-step tutorial. It's a very basic way if you're really interested in having such knowledge when it comes to trading.

Every single person has their own strategy to trade the markets however I have always thought that a stop loss is a must in any trading strategy, I know that most of the time a stop loss is going to take you out early from some profitable trades and this is especially true when the market is ranging, but since we do not know when we are going to see an important decrease in the price then it is imperative to have a stop loss at all times so it protects you from the instances in which the market begins to go down incredibly fast and you are not in front of your computer to stop the trade manually.
