Title: Scammed by user stephthe76er
Post by: panther2020 on August 05, 2021, 05:03:16 PM
Hello there, I'm relatively new here as today I was bound to create an account to report someone.
I've been checking out Bitcointalk for years but never thought about creating account as I'm not a crypto person.

I'm here to report an user and I've attached all the necessary proof required.
I did went through some of this user thread, multiple peoples have provided negative feedback but it seems like no action has been taken so far towards this user.

Username: stephthe76er
Skype: stevenm_media
Purchased: AWS Account
Amount paid: $15 USDT
Scam: Provided invalid credential and never was able to login.
Date and Time: 04/08/2021, 10-12 PM IST

Scenario Explanation:

In the year 2019 I came across his post and purchased an AWS account but even that time he lied and provided me an account which didn't meet the criteria which was described by him. I didn't report that time as atleast he provided me a valid account.

Previous night once again I went through my contact list to purchase an account and I asked him if available. He informed me that an account is available and as per our convo. I sent him $15 USDT instantly.
Once confirmed, he asked me to wait for a while and then after an hour he came back to provide an account which was invalid. I wrote him back, he saw it but didn't revert back to me.

I did a mistake back in 2019 I should have reported him but this time I don't want to repeat my mistake and want to save other legitimate users from falling in such traps.

Below I've provided all the necessary proof. Due to limitation and as I don't want to reveal private info. to everyone I'm only attaching the exact proofs. I already have taken a full chatlog and sharing the details here with some screenshots.

I hope the admins will check out his thread and posts. And I also hope that a valid and reasonable judgment will be served as this user is also reported by other peoples in his thread.

I do agree that any digital things purchased online comes under the purchaser responsibility, weather to trust the seller and if there is a scam it's a total loss. But my only purpose of creating an account, typing this entire message is just to stop others from being a prey to this scammer as from his thread it seems like he is still in his business and no one is stopping him from constantly scamming others. I'm not looking forward or expecting to get back the amount that I've lost but I hope admins will take appropriate action against this user and help other peoples to fall in such scams.

Everyone must be extra careful when buying anything online, in which case most of the sellers are there to sell fake services. Their main purpose is to steal customer's money. You've got a lesson that will remind you to use escrow when you buy such a service later.

Thank you for making this post. Because those who are new, if they read this post, they will be careful before purchasing any such service.

First off, sorry for your loss.

Username: stephthe76er

That user name doesn't exist on this forum, nor does that skype name appear in search results on this forum.  There is, however a post by that user name offering AWS accounts on a scammer's forum.  Maybe you've got us confused with the scam site?

Skype: stevenm_media
Purchased: AWS Account

Selling AWS accounts is no longer not allowed here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5173486.msg52093309#msg52093309

I hope the admins will check out his thread and posts. And I also hope that a valid and reasonable judgment will be served as this user is also reported by other peoples in his thread.

There have been many scam accusations against those selling accounts, which is (in part) why the activity is no longer allowed, but scams aren't moderated here.  In this case there's nothing the mods or admin can do, nor is it likely that others will report scams by a non-existent username.

why even make another transaction with the same user when the first time you bought an AWS account didn't make the criteria he described when selling the account. also, other than the account getting a negative tag nothing else will happen. if you are hoping for the account to get banned, it won't happen since the forum doesn't moderate scams. anyway, sorry for your loss. maybe in the future use an escrow to make sure the transaction will be safe.

this is probably the user stephthe76er (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=1039630) OP's talking about. the account has been inactive for several years.

I think this is a special case.

If reported to the mods or admin, the account seller will be banned if he's a newbie or the relevant post might be deleted with a warning to the person according to Theymos. The problem is OP hasn't specified which ANN he used to discover stephthe76er's AWS account sales.

Trading the accounts of these services is not allowed. Report anyone selling them. Newbies will be permanently banned; established members may be given warnings before being banned, but the relevant posts will be deleted.
