Title: Evolution & Survival - Who is the most 'evolved' species?
Post by: GeekWisdom on August 07, 2021, 11:12:34 PM
I believe many people if asked 'which species is the most evolved' would answer 'human'

But what is the measure of 'most evolved' ??

If "the most evolved" means the species with the most population, then 'bacteria' is likely the most evolved, as their are millions (billions?) more bacteria then humans

If "the most evolved" means the longest lifespan, again humans loose, their are many species of trees for example that have lived for well over 300 years (when humans are not cutting them down'

If "top of the food chain" is the answer, again, throw the average human out into a wild forest, it becomes clear that he is not at the top of the food chain. Often it takes multiple humans together to defeat other animals, OR a specific technology that human uses (eg: gun), but the human with the gun was not the human that invented it.

If mutations in genes lead to changes, some of which survive and some of which do not, is it even possible to rate a 'level' of evolution? Are some species even more evolved then others? Are the 'extinct' species the ones that were 'less evolved'??

IMO Most evolved means that it came from the oldest known living thing. We all have evolved at some point to something. Look at all races or breeds we have in humans... that happened by evolution due to species isolation because the earth was mainly 1 large mass. It then split and as it grew further and further apart so did we. Our breeds or races evolved but not to the point where we became a new species and that's in part due to the rate our genetics will allow us to evolve as well as our genetic traits. Survival of what can...

this will be depending again to religious belief mate , because people that believes in bible will surely answer Humans, but those believes in science has different answers so best to at least make a POL so there will no hard debate sooner

The most evolved is humans because, as you can read in history, humans can invent many things that will benefit human life. Humans created tools that help survive for a long time, although humans fight each other to defend their land.

And as time goes by, humans become a smart creatures that invented more to help us survive in the hardest of life and that will not stop because humans are hungry to have a better life than before.

Maybe the mutations genes will happen in the future as the technology invented by humans will also grow. But the other species will also evolve and will survive in the future.

I believe that the most evolved species are those that are best adapted to their environment. Having successfully colonized the entire globe, I believe humans are by far the most evolved species.
As a species, we are able to adapt to diverse climatic conditions, with the help of our intellect, which none of the other species is able to do.

This problem is still limited to what you see now. The advanced species that really exist are alien civilizations. I believe that we human beings are still in their infancy. Alien civilization must exist and be a higher species.

Are you serious? Or is it just a guess from your  own place, will alien civilization exist? Mankind is the master of the universe.

In ancient civilizations, people believed they lived on a flat plane. The Earth was once believed to be at the center of the solar system and that everything revolved around it. Then people believed that the solar system was at the center of the universe.

And, now some believe they are the only intelligent species in the universe... Do you notice a trend here?

Humans are very evolved because we have a brain and free will, this evolution happened in a very short period of time compared to other animals in the past. There a lot of different animals which are much older than we humans and which also live much longer than we do. If we look at sea turtles for example, they can get very old and have been around a very long time. Even though the sea is full off predators like sharks, the turtles managed to adopt very well and didn't get extinct.

The truth that can't be disputed is that other creatures were created to be under the control of man. So, this likely means man is at the top and evolution has nothing to do with it.

I can't say that humans are the most evolved because humans are having the same parental species of ape so called monkey or whatever it is, so humans are also evolved from some species. But I can say that humans at the the ultimate level now because they are in control of everything the predators to deep sea everything is under our control.

How are 'wild' creatures under the control of man? - Isn't the fact they are not under the control of man what makes them wild?
