Title: 3070ti vram temp issue
Post by: TheMimic1 on August 08, 2021, 09:27:45 AM
Alright I finally went ahead and purchase my first RTX3070 Ti which of cos is a LHR card but I can see that this card is good for ravencoin and conflux with make me worry less unfortunately the problem is when mining ravencoin this GPU reach 90°C on vmem which is scaring the heck out of me, I've lost a GPU and I don't want to lose another

which product is it? it's not that surprising for gddr6x to get very hot, in fact it's one of their traits. but 90c is definitely not a comfortable temp. have you tried adding or using another pads or cooler?

90c is not bad, throttling is 110c, you can try adding thermal pads to the memory chips but not sure if it will improve much since gddrx runs very hot compared x normal gddr6 memory chips, many people replaced their thermal pads on memory chips on 3080 and 3090, many guides around the net, however like I said, your temp is good enough 90c, I would advise to replace only if memory temp junction is higher than 100c when mining.

This is not a very high temperature for memory.
When the warranty ends, change the thermal pads.
If the temperature is more than 100 degrees, then it is worth installing additional cooling or replacing thermal pads.
Summer is already ending, then the temperature situation should be better.

Thanks for your response, the GPU is a MSI gaming X trio and the memory is a micron chip I've been told that 90°C is safe for this card as this is how they are build  so I don't worry myself much anymore
