I want to fully record my first Bitcoin shopping experience

About a month or so, I joined the Bitcointalk.

At the beginning, I only acted in the Bitcoin sector and the Beginners & Help sector.

One day, I read the post as usual.And I found this post by accident：[Merit] Hey Bitcoiners! Can You Send Encrypted Messages? (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5289839.0)I have to say that this really sparked my interest. What a cool thing to send encrypted messages.After 3 attempts, I finally sent the encrypted message (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5289839.msg57245441#msg57245441) to OgNasty correctly.（This encrypted message task made me know the name OgNasty for the first time.）

Then I learned from Og’s My 10 Year Bitcointalk Anniversary (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5341942.0) that he has an online store.Since this is my first time shopping with Bitcoin. I ended up with the cheapest item in his store, a T-shirt.

But due to a mistake in my operation, I forgot to fill in my contact information.Fortunately, Og sent me an email, I sent him the correct address.

A month later, I received a call from the courier. I was curious at the time because I had not bought anything recently (I have forgotten that I bought this T-shirt 1 month ago.)
Really surprised when I got the package.

well this is so good and cheap but i wonder it's transaction fee ? I have only used bitcoin to gambling and after some win streak wanted to send bitcoin to exchange but transaction fee was so high , that hurts me . That is the reason why i believe bitcoin is not our future currency to buy / sell things , maybe some altcoin . But this transaction is amazing thank you for helping to build our future .

OgNasty is a legit guy,but maybe next time you should use an escrow when shopping with Bitcoins.
I would never spend any BTC without a trusted escrow,and I hate spending my BTC for stuff that I don't need,like clothing for example.

My first experience with Bitcoin as a means of payment was from another forum member here, who is always shy to say it and even sadly, he doesn't remember it anymore but that's not an issue.

He asked me to send him something from my home to another home, across the international mail borders and he paid me in Bitcoin. It changed my views about money because I didn't need to even say which country I was from or open any account:)

It's a lovely story, and I'm surprised that you decided to use Bitcoin as money so soon after getting on the forum, as most new people are only here to get rich (they don't, but they want to). What were the technicalities or the deal? Like, how much was the transaction fee, were there any additional fees from the store? Was it a payment method (like BitPay) or was it a BTC address to transfer BTC to? Was the price fixed in BTC or in USD, and did you win or lose due to volatility? Personal experience like yours is valuable and useful to motivate others.

Cool! I can pretty much relate to your excitement. It's like the same way when we order something online, we will be really excited and looking forward for the packet to come, because i do. Especially, if it's using bitcoin, such a whole new experience! It might be pretty exciting, and glad that it turns out to be okay, you had your first experience went by smoothly and greatly. I haven't tried to purchase anything using bitcoin yet, maybe i should try it too since it seems fun. Experiencing a new thing once in a while.

Yes, nice story. I liked it as well as OgNasty's post to celebrate its anniversary. The only thing I would say to the OP, is that I wouldn't make a habit of spending a lot of Bitcoin. Better to save it, the time will come to spend Bitcoin in the future. You may regret spending much Bitcoin in the future, think about the guy who spent 10,000 Bitcoin to buy pizzas.

Quite impressive experience with Bitcoin, because as long as I know Bitcoin since 4 years ago I have never shopped directly with Bitcoin.  That's cool, and the shirt you bought is cool too.  By the way, the next time you buy and sell online, don't forget to include your contact so that the seller can easily contact you  :) ;)
 

Well, congratulations for something some wearables with Bitcoin. While we usually forget that Bitcoin should also be treated as currency and not just a store of value, the potential of Bitcoin in eCommerce remains to be good despite some of the known weaknesses it may have...or we perceive it has.

That's his/her call on how to spend bitcoin, I know that you're looking out for OP but OP is an adult and I think that OP knows the consequences of that decision of spending the bitcoin plus if you are happy with what you've spend your bitcoin with, you don't have to wallow or regret it right. And given how OP is in this forum, I am sure that OP knows how to manage his/her bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies in his/her wallet.

Congratulations for your wonderful journey. Though after reading your story i feel you are soo happy. I don't have such dream to shopping online with bitcoin. Though if i get a chance i won't miss it. 2nd my dream is if government accept bitcoin i will open my dream supermarket where people can buy products offline and online too. But bitcoin will be the payment method for everything. If you had no bitcoin then will be a bitcoin counter where you have to buy bitcoin first then the bitcoin amount will be send to your wallet. After that enter the market shop what you want then pay the bill. Isn't it a cool idea.

I wouldn't mind trying buying pizza. Buying pizza was discussed a lot of times in here and I was kind of looking forward to buy it with my Bitcoins as well. I might not be able to hold the tempt, but now that you mentioned it also the risks though. So far my only options to buy some merchs for now is by using custodial wallet which isn't really the best option considering the privacy that I want when I use my money, but my country isn't really adopting Bitcoin that much at least at some non-metropolitan area.

I'm glad that you like what you do and I think this will be a valuable experience for you. but if you look at it broadly there are actually a lot of shops that do the same thing, namely using btc as a means of payment.
but i don't think i will do what you do :) although it looks tempting and impressive but i still hesitate to spend my btc on an item but maybe i will try sometime to increase my knowledge here.
regardless of what it is, happiness is the most important thing, both using btc for the benefit of buying the goods or products we want and using it as a long-term investment I think this goes back to each other's thoughts, the most important thing is that there is no compulsion in it and those who do it are satisfied it is happiness separately obtained.

Congratulations on your purchase. Aside from purchasing from the forum's merchants, try to look outside the forum as there are merchants too where you can use your bitcoin to buy things.

And do not forget to hold. No one stops you from shopping with the use of bitcoin but if you're also seeing it long term wise, hold some and shop some.

Well sometimes we need to gift ourselves from being hard work and I know this recent spike of bitcoin price many of us spend their bitcoin and purchase something to their selves. Congrats on your purchase and you deserved it and good thing that you don't spend it all at once. Because there is a chance that bitcoin will rise again. There are too many merchants now that accepted bitcoin as a payment and I am not surprise seeing that even our personal needs online was can able to purchase using our bitcoin.

My experience from the past which consolidates with Bitcoin's source of income due to profit was great during those times that I didn't realize how expensive it will be in this time of pandemic. I used to spend all the fiat money which converted from btc.
Shopping was the convenient ways to enjoy the benefits of bitcoin in the fist place.
Everything went out amazing and most times I've been getting used to it then suddenly my funds begun to shrink unfortunately.

Most people will get excited after shopping or buying something using cryto currency. As we all know for now, we only use fiat to buy or sell certain goods. After huge acceptance in the crowd of the world, the crypto currency was accepted as a payment by some individuals.

Personally, so far, I never do shopping yet with Bitcoin.
So far, only using Bitcoin as a means of trading and also an investment. So glad to know your first shopping experience.
And well, the transaction fee is about half of the T-shirt price, right? But this is no problem.
I only concern with the payment method. It is very fortunate that you didn't use any escrow and it is not a scam because it is too risky. Maybe sometimes later, it is better to check the shop whether they provide any escrow or not.

I have also purchased some items with bitcoin payments in the past and I know how exciting it could be to pay with your favourite coins but when they are cheap and not adopted by all.But now many accepts btc payment like nasty store who delivers various products for our community but the prices are way too high that i have decided to save them for the time being and use fiat for buying stuffs which is helping me this time.But it is good that you made your first btc purchase and happy with it.The t-shirt will suit you indeed :D

A good experience and of course you feel very comfortable when you make transactions using BTC. But be careful, because this can lead to addiction, where the worst case is that you can't control your spending.
My first transaction in the cryptocurrency world was using Ethereum, where I bought two t-shirts with the Ethereum logo. In 2017 I really liked Ethereum because it gave a lot of big profits through the ERC-20 token ICO.
After the purchase, I felt very comfortable even more comfortable than buying using paper money.

I personally also have never used bitcoin as a means of payment, because honestly for now it is less effective. and I think it would be more profitable for bitcoin as an investment tool. so to buy goods today I usually convert it to fiat currency first, so it is flexible to be used as a means of payment. currently like elsalvador has legalized bitcoin, and of course you can easily spend bitcoin directly, hopefully later other countries will soon follow

it's just now wherein the fees still high but soon it will be back to normal. and perhaps op use wallet that has small fees that's why he purchased those tshirt without hesitation. Indeed it's from ognasty even the fees were high if you're truly fan of og's you'll still buy it.  ;D

It's nice to hear about your experience. It's really fulfilling to purchase something from our Bitcoin funds. In our country, we're lucky that we're able to purchase goods and different stuff online using Bitcoin because a local online store here accepts Bitcoin using our local crypto wallet. I also find it convenient since the trasaction is really fast.

In the question and answer part of your post I like the fact that you stated that you like trying out new things. When I started making use of bitcoin, using it as a get rich system wasn’t any of my plans, I had another plan which was to use it for transactions, and till I’m still using it for that because I do a remote job so it has been the easiest way for me to be receiving payments.

Although that didn’t change the fact that I can invest in it, of course I am also investing in it and I am happy about that, I have been able to achieve a lot of things. Bitcoin is really interesting if you allow yourself to focus and learn and understand it.

An impressive experience about shopping using bitcoin for the first time, I have also experienced the same thing to buy a BTC necklace on an outside site and I paid for it in bitcoin with a fairly hefty fee but at that time the price of bitcoin was still quite low so I don't mind the cost because it's really interesting for the first time, but I only shopped with bitcoins once to try what it's like to buy things with bitcoin.

But lately I prefer to invest or trade rather than spend, for me it's difficult now to shop and finally change to fiat for any purchases in stores because many people accept when I need something.

i have a bit experienced in bitcoin, i bought a mobile phone from singapore (they have thousands of varsities accessories for mobile and laptop and others) btw i have paid in their own token. it's my story i bought a things by utilized bitcoin.

I haven't experienced on using up directly or personal transactions between buying a certain thing from a merchant on using up my bitcoin but I had used up some local exchange wallet on getting some

service like paying up bills without the need on falling in line into those establishments which is really a very big convenience and benefits for us crypto users. It is really good to hear at that we are

really having those kind of payment options which is gradually becoming more rampant as the years is passing which does indicate that we are heading on rising up adoption.

^ Outside on the forum is quite a risk because there is no escrow to hold the fund not unless if you will choose a trusted merchant where to purchase valuable things. We are very lucky right now to spend a small amount of BTC because the fee is quite small, 1 sat is enough than before you will paying more than 100 sats which is very hurt when you will see there is a big transaction fee. Nevertheless, purchasing online is not bad, but my concern is I will not waste on my to purchase bitcoin, I just like to hold it and wait when there is profit come.

Nice to see you experienced first shopping via bitcoin. For me, this happened a year ago or more when I bought a book using bitcoin worth 31 USD. However, I remember I bought the book for bitcoin when the price was less than 6K per bitcoin. That's why I spent a lot more than 31 USD that I had to spend on the book. So, I prefer to hold and save my coins instead of spending them to buy stuff online. There are also many similar articles and stories on the internet about people shopping online and paying money by bitcoin.

don't be discouraged, everyone has a different history, and the op experience is invaluable indeed. After all, the function of btc is not only as a means of payment, it can also be an investment tool and trading commodity, so if you have assets in btc then you should also be proud.
I don't plan to be able to make purchases with btc, it's just a matter of passion, because making payments with paper money or e-money is still very effective. for me, btc is more effective for investment tool and trading commodity. another reason is because my country doesn't legalize crypto payments.

Just looked up the website, it looks pretty outdated and simple (I guess it's on purpose) and it reminded me of good ol' internet times, where most websites had this simple layout and nothing more. I almost thought that this order was conducted 10 years ago, until I saw the website myself.

@OP It is good to hear about your experience, i already purchased online a few years back and for you hopefully it was a good experience as the transaction charges are really low for months and this is the perfect situation if you want to make some trades.

In fact, there is no need to worry. If the author has 1,000 bitcoins, I believe he will not spend bitcoins to complete a shopping, because his purpose is to accumulate the number of bitcoins, not to reduce it. Yes, my first Bitcoin purchase was just as interesting..

I just got into Bitcoin, when I saw an advertisement for a beautiful Butterfly bracelet that was made from a real Butterfly and covered in places with 24 Carat Gold. The price was very reasonable ...so I bought one. It was months later, when I received the bracelet through a courier service and I had to pay additional import duties to receive it.

The Gold on the bracelet looked "fake" ...so I took it to a jewelry shop and I asked them to test it. Their response.... "The bracelet cannot be tested, because the whole thing was covered with an epoxy coating and if you crack the coating... then the whole thing will break.

A few months after that... someone in the household broke the wing by accident and I took it to the jewelry shop again.... they tested it and it turned out that it was just Gold paint.  ::)   (Very good scam... selling a product that cannot be tested until it's broken)  ::)

Buying something on the internet using bitcoin will be another experience because we will see how the transaction process is finished. I think the fees will always change following the network traffic, but now, the fees are not too high. Not many websites have Tron as the payment so you need to find out the other website. I heard that Bitpay has many coins as an option but I do not know about the other sites.

Well it a good memory which i can't forget it help me alot, due to the fact i get no job then, with my first bitcoin shopping i invest my parent and my siblings and i enjoy and i went to enjoy with my wife, it a lovely and memories for me.

Its not your fault as you can't control what Og does, just pointing out that this is incorrect use of the trust system.

price fluctuations are indeed an obstacle in shopping using bitcoin. when bitcoin goes down then we pay with more bitcoins than when bitcoin goes up, but for a piece of clothing and plus a fee, isn't it more expensive? because I personally have never directly used bitcoin for shopping
