Title: Whose job should be more appreciated about Bitcoin widespread?
Post by: dataispower on August 14, 2021, 11:42:21 PM
I've always wanted to ask this question, I don't know if it sounds funny or unintelligent, not actually trying to downgrade anyone's contribution to the open network whose existence has impacted our economy, everyday life and internet connections. So, it dawned on me to ask this question Whose job in the entire Bitcoin history deserves the greatest accolades?
1. The minners
2. Influencers
3. Centralized exchanges
4. The users
6.  Other please specify.

I do think the one's we are lacking in this list would be :
1. The inventor
2. The whales
3. Media ??
( 'No publicity is a negative publicity' - someone)
4. People here on Bitcointalk!!!
5. People who are early adopters of Bitcoins, not only that people who are now willing to accept Bitcoins as a form of payment in their businesses and shops.
6. Government with friendly environment for cryptocurrencies like bitcoins etc..
I think we can keep adding a lot more people in the list. At the end of the day it's a cumulative effort.

Of course nobody could replace the role of Satoshi who is the one who made Bitcoin. The next people would be the likes of Hal Finney and other early believers of Bitcoin with whom even Satoshi corresponded and consulted. There are also those who contributed to Bitcoin's development. They are also the reasons why Bitcoin reached its current status. And then there are the miners. Credits should also be given to them especially those early miners. Forget about centralized exchanges. They are just mostly riding on Bitcoin's popularity to make money.

whose work should be appreciated more about the widespread bitcoin,,?? in my opinion, everything should be appreciated, starting from the satoshi who created bitcoin, then the developers, then the holders, the people who invest, and the people in this forum, including people who criticize about bitcoin, because with their criticism we can rise again and we can improve ourselves, we have to respect everything, because it is clear that without anyone who is involved in bitcoin, it is certain that bitcoin will not develop widely..

Personally, I'd say it's either:

1. The developers
2. The people who educate people about Bitcoin. (e.g. Andreas Antonopoulos or Saifedean Ammous)

Yes, most exchanges put out ads concerning Bitcoin, but there's a huge difference between just advertising bitcoin as an asset and actually teaching people why Bitcoin is needed/important.

1. The minners
2. Influencers
3. Centralized exchanges
4. The users
6.  Other please specify.
1. Miners are workers who are getting paid to do a job. Their job provides bitcoin with security but they are still employees.
2. Influencers are jokes. Majority of them are idiots who don't even understand the topic they so actively talk about.
3. CEXes are just businesses here to make money, they aren't contributing to anything.
4. It depends on the user. Purely using bitcoin is not contributing to anything.
6. (5?) As @mk4 said, devs and those who educate people.

It is difficult to think in such a way as all participants in the crypto market have different but really important roles. If there are no miners, we will not have coins. If there are no users, nobody trades them. And so on, and so forth. But to my mind developers deserve the greatest accolades. They are very smart people and create new crypto solutions, I just admire them.

Satoshi of course and all the developers helped on this project and greatest blockchain of all times.

All thr choices such as whales, investors had indeed help on achieving value but they only use money for that one. I still applaud those who helped technically to improve bitcoin ecosystem.

Influencers helped too but they have agenda of course and will use that popularity to fuel the btc price so they can dumped anytime.

Miners don't want to be bothered, they know their appreciated already, leave them to mine in peace. The people that needs some appreciation are journalists that reports only the truth on stuff even if it means that they're going to be heavily criticized.

All of them are doing something important that deserves recognition. Without miners, the whole enterprise would be completely impossible because they validate transactions and generate new coins. Influencers, I guess, are the best when it comes to spreading the word about Bitcoin, making it popular. So if that's what we're measuring, I think they're the most important people. However, without reputable exchanges like Binance, I'm also sure that many people would never have joined the market because they want institutions that signify stability and at least some guarantees. And, of course, the users make up the whole community, and probably most of us told at least some of our friends about Bitcoin, so this impact in making it popular might be comparable with that of the influencers.

Every user and supporter of Bitcoin and the underlying network has a smaller or larger contribution to the emergence of this asset. I don' think you can possibly make a sensible differentiation regarding the importance of contributions. For example, if there miners and no users - mining would be useless. If there were users, but no miners we wouldn't have a network. Exchanges also played a huge role in scaling Bitcoin to what it is today.

To me everybody who had participated in the development and the existence of bitcoin till now should be appreciated including the users and the centralized exchange who add increased the awareness of bitcoin through ads and sici media means. All the great works of individual contributions in ensuring the safety and and successful transaction categories should be applauded. The early contributors of Bitcoin success had really gained the time and investments that had been put into Bitcoin existence from birth to the maturity stage Bitcoin had gained now.

The users, I guess everyone will not be that happy to participate to contribute their job if there were no users of the network. But the users also include the traders, influencers, exchanges, and all.  It's one of the users that introduces me to Bitcoin which I think is also what happens to some of us who are introduced to Bitcoin. The Casinos had contributed a lot too, we wouldn't be using Bitcoin if they were not making us bet using BTC.

Pointing out a specific would just be discriminating because it is just like a success of any organization is never depending on a single person because right from junior employees work till higher level each ones does their defined roles n a best manner to get the outcome and in same way be it miner or influencer or exchanger or users in their capacity and circle all tries to do their best in order to promote.

Aside from Satoshi Nakamoto and those early developers who worked hard and poured their skills, talents, intelligence and even some sweat and sleepless nights for Bitcoin to come into reality, I would be giving credit to everybody no matter how small one's contribution can be. And yes, those people who have been so friendly and supportive of Bitcoin including the most famous to the most unknown...this is a Bitcoin community and we are all important. And of course, the enemies, critics and bashers of BTC are also playing a role in its popularity because without them people's attention to it would not come so easy.

Honestly, all of those guys should get the credit regarding the result of the popularity of bitcoins nowadays especially the influencer who has complete trust in bitcoin. remember those guys don't even know Satoshi Nakamoto in person and didn't get anything in return while doing their job. Most likely they know the real opportunity it can give to those people who are in need of it. Personally, I learned about it with the help of the users in this community the number one source of real knowledge when it comes to Bitcoins and any other cryptocurrencies.

I don't think it is the responsibility of miners or exchanges etc to spread awareness of bitcoin. We all are the ambassadors and should tell about bitcoin in our society. Every person should effort to teach about bitcoin to his friends, family etc is a great job indeed and we should never stop this awareness. We are lucky to know about this technology first and now its our responsibility to spread it too.

Actually it is everyone's responsibility to do, but what we are deliberating on here is whose job has the biggest effort and should receive the biggest accolades and applauds? I have personally taught people within my reach about Bitcoin, Binance does, Influencers on Twitter do, several of them are still doing it. Without users, miners wouldn't be known and without miners user can't do anything on the network.

This is my opinion but I think it's the miners without the miners there will be no new Bitcoins to be mined and of course all transactions will not receive any confirmation from the blockchain. If there's no miner there's no way to move Bitcoin from one wallet to another and therefore there's no transactions will be done.

We all know that without transaction the market will not move, the business will also not move. That's why I think the miners should be more appreciated about Bitcoin widespread.

I do believe without miners there's no bitcoin, and also the help of users by spreading the information around the social media is the main reason why bitcoin nowadays is still alive and keep making progress..
When it comes exchanges, yes they all have contributions, but perhaps without miners and help of some user  probably they're nothing wherein useless and for sure bitcoin will not last.. By the way these is just my personal opinion..  :D

Honestly, it's more of a team effort, I mean there is literally no team but if you'd look at it closely how big of an impact everyone is when it comes to Bitcoin's widespread, to put it in simple words, all of the roles, honestly deserves to be appreciated. But when we talk about power around social media and how impactful publicity is? it's definitely Elon and the influencers, just imagine Doge going back up after a weeks, but let's not forget about the investors, the miners, the traders, they all play a role that makes Bitcoin where it is right now.

my answer would be the miners and the guys who are responsible for keeping the code bug free and always up to date, then comes the investors and the community. Something that caught my attention on this list was: " Influencers "... who are these Influencers? Tom Lee? doge father? As a joke, Influencers are also responsible for the huge price increase and popularity of bitcoin.

But when we talk about power around social media and how impactful publicity is? it's definitely Elon and the influencers

 ;D

I also thought that the doge father is one of the most influential guys and responsible for the big price increase

First off, your list is missing one crucial participant and that is the developers that build these crypto products and services that have push crypto adoption to the stage it is right now. Now that's out of the way, I feel like the two biggest categories that have impacted crypto adoption from the onset is:

1. Developers
2. Marketing / Media

  • Developers-  Because they constantly build new products or improve existing products. The more these products and services get more user friendly, the faster we can on board new users. This is similar to what NEAR protocol and other blockchains do at the moment.
  • Marketing/Media - This category are responsible for getting word out. Whether you believe it or not, This is the first place people goto search when they first come across the term "Bitcoin" (I did so too and I know others that followed this path)

This is just my opinion. Other categories might have spearheaded several moves but these ones I feel have made the most impact.

Everything and everyone have a grear contribution on the widespread of Bitcoin starting off with the positive ones that includes the inventor/creator, the early investors, the believers and even those negative contributors that are spreading FUD within the social media and even wild talks against Bitcoin is also considered as big contributor because everything that mention Bitcoin no matter what the talk is all about, adds popularity on Bitcoin itself due to the reason that people are getting curious about it makes them aware of something they don't initially know does exist.

Why do you think infulencers should be more appreciated? They only promote what earns them money they are sell outs and do not offer any value outside of entertainment.
They play an instrumental role in the widespread of Bitcoin, they orchestrated the ability to recognise cryptocurrencies on major social media. Remember during the earliest days of bitcoin when there were no so many social media it was difficult to reach a handful of population to spread the ideas across. But social media made it possible during the covid lockdown. Influencers deserve a praise.

I'd go with those that have said developers first. There's no bitcoin first if there's no satoshi and then those developers that have continued with its development.

Next are those early believers and educators that have made a huge contribution of educating people about cryptography and blockchain.

Their contribution cannot be forgotten to its huge growth that bitcoin has today. Influencers? we don't really need those, bitcoin became popular and grew naturally.

The biggest appreciation is of course for the inventor of bitcoin, you know what his name is. and next are early adopters who faithfully and patiently accompany the development of bitcoin. it's not easy to believe in "weird" projects that go out of the box and contradict the system that has existed for so long, centralization. so I really salute them. it took me about 1 year to really believe that bitcoin and crypto in general can give hope.

not to forget also high appreciation for the government that has given leeway to the crypto ecosystem.

looking at the past.
in 2009 bitcoin was an interesting project. for geeks.
but it didnt actually gain any real fame until it started to be used.
(dark side of history, silkroad, mtgox)
but also things like the laszlo pizza and the alpaca socks. then exchanges then bitpay
then many retailers. even car showrooms

it actually became useful and successful when people could actually buy things with it and exchange it to fiat.
so its actually the utilities and services that actually took the effort and the risk in offering something for bitcoin that then made people want to use bitcoin more.

i actually got many people interested in bitcoin when the question of 'how real is it' was asked in the early days by buying them real pizza with it. if i just showed them code or a youtube video they would have passed

Everyone who has used Bitcoin atleast once should be appreciated on the event of widespread.

Bitcoin's widespread took place through word of mouth spreading. It is the one that hasn't got advertisement carrying it to the people through media and other sources. Nowadays we can see the term bitcoin being used by different platforms for promotion which also helps with widespread. During the early days it all happened as a result of people sharing with the one next to them and has reached big than many other things.

These are all as a whole and are indispensable. This kind of success cannot be achieved by one person, and it is worthy of praise. All news about Bitcoin news, good or bad, played a role in the spread of Bitcoin. I think every step is beneficial to Bitcoin, and the work of these people should be appreciated by us. But Satoshi as the inventor is irreplaceable for us.

In fact, in the current Internet age, the most direct and fastest spreading is online news. Media news is always spread all over the world at a very fast speed. I first learned about Bitcoin when I saw it on the Internet. In the news, the online media vigorously promoted Bitcoin to let people learn about Bitcoin and gradually become interested in Bitcoin.

In my opinion, the one who deserve the appreciation is mostly the founder and also developers of bitcoin, since without them, bitcoin won't be here and of course it'll lack of many things. Other than that, we should give the appreciation to the miners, because their job keep bitcoin alive. Miners have such an important role in bitcoin. Then, i guess we should give appreciation too to us, the bitcoin users that believe bitcoin, willing to buy bitcoin, hyping bitcoin and making it as big as it is now. We, the users, the one who create the supply and demand also need appreciation to keep bitcoin alive and high like now.

Firstly credit must be given to the developer of Bitcoin Satoshi who was the main inventor and wrote it white paper, we should also appreciate the media especially this forum, it has been playing a big role in information dissemination of Bitcoin and other coins plus solving technical issues related to Bitcoin, while other social media also played their own part too.
Credit goes to credible and trusted wallet operators both online and hardwares including exchanges who also played a major role in securing Bitcoin thus encourage the adoption of Bitcoin by individual hodlers and institutions

That's just a dumb answer, of course everyone appreciates the creator. If we remove the dumb answers here since those dumb answers are automatically appreciated, I think media is the one that we should thank the most, no matter if they have a negative view towards bitcoin or a positive one, they still contribute to making bitcoin getting recognized by more people.

If we have to give the greatest accolades then it has to be to Satoshi Nakamoto because if it were not for him then we would not have been able to use bitcoin as we do today.
Not only he created bitcoin but also spread the initial awareness that was required to make bitcoin grab user's attention.

Apart from that I think the users of bitcoin are the ones who should be truly applauded. We all deserve the accolades because the us the users are the ones due to which bitcoin is what it is today.

Everything the OP mentioned deserves appreciation, but not a priority considering we never interacted directly. It would be better if we appreciate the closest people we know.  It could be the people who introduced us first, then the people who taught a lot about crypto (anyone including community members). Bitcoin has spread thanks to these "messengers".

And I don't agree if their efforts are categorized as job, there are some developers distributing their work for free to users and there is even no monetization element such as placing ads, referrals, etc.

For those who discovered Bitcoin, developed Bitcoin, and created Bitcoin, it is all worthy of appreciation.
Without a basic team, there would be no Bitcoin.
Without users and miners, there would be no Bitcoin today.
Anyone who is friendly to Bitcoin can be appreciated. They are farsighted.
