Title: Bitcoin Youtube Scam?
Post by: TODD DAVIS on August 17, 2021, 04:39:43 PM
So when im watching some bitcoin videos on youtube... doesn't matter what it is... could be about bitcoin or cnbc talking about bitcoin, i see in the comments section, people making comments like

btc is the future

i made a ton of money investing in btc with so and so person

then you see someone post someones whatsapp or phone number and say contact this person if you want to make money

telegram

how btc is better than stocks

First off, all these comments are from people or are they bots?  I notice even on twitter when it comes to politics, you see these accounts post comments where it sounds like a bot... then you see other users who post the same exact thing.

I assume the scam here is you then contact that persons whatsapp or phone or telegram, then they ask you for money... then you get scammed?

First, don't believed everything you see and hear on youtube specially about crypto, most of them are shills anyway. Even some of them who posted TA are bunch on noobs.

Second, not just in crypto, but there are a lot of scammers out there, so the best weapon against them is to educate yourself. You have to ask yourself, why you need to contact unknown person? You yourself can do trading and investing on crypto.

Yes they are bots and YouTube doesn't have any regulations regarding these bots so clicking their link will only lead to misery because it's either a scam site or a phishing link that you clicked which is much worse because you don't if you've already got it. It's much more elaborate than what you describe to be honest.

Yes, and there's usually a narrative in order to convince their victims, e.g. free money, guaranteed high ROI. It's also possible the scammer will redirect the victim to a website/telegram group to show there is an established system in order to appear more legit or use phishing handles. The methods may be different but the core remains the same: the whole thing doesn't add up  :D

There are three things you can do OP

1. Reply to the said comment explaining why it is a scam (but don't spam, it could backfire)
2. Report the comment to youtube
3. Report the comment to the channel owner - they could publish a warning about this and/or help delete them.

You're right, they are scams. You don't contact people randomly just because there are spams that you've seen in those comments. To mind you that it's not only in YouTube but also in Facebook pages, they're scamming everywhere and the worse is that there are people that really are paying attention to those scams and becomes a victim. Those bots will keep it going and as long as that content creator doesn't have any moderator on his comment sections that should delete the scams, there will be those that will try to contact those scammers.

Listen to this and its always been like that, not only limited to crypto but also in traditional markets and hypes as well, as long it would be the trend then those scammers would really take advantage of it
specially now that crypto is on the main trend as of this moment where those scammers would really be creating something deceiving to lure in those noobs to believe that easy money or methods does exist.
If you do make use of your own common sense then you can easily spot out things like this but if you do let your greed control or overcome you then it would really be a big problem soon.
Be aware and be careful to save up your ass into these scams.

There are many scammers through various media, one of which is Youtube.
There is even a YouTube channel that is very convincing its audience to invest in their body investors and deceive investors. Even it was done as if Live.
Already many people are victims of youtube scams like this because they think for very high profits to be obtained in a short time and a very easy way.

- And this is where never believe in such that kind of investment model.
- Don't easily believe with a very high-profit investment in a short time and a super-easy way.
- Don't transfer some money to them

Since Youtube allowed anyone to advertise not just companies there has been a lot of scams going around. This is not just Bitcoin scams but scams in fiat to do not trust any thing that you hear or see on Youtube. The main reason they are advertising is because they can make money off of you. Do you see us investors advertising Bitcoin to you and telling you that you can double your money? No we tell you it is a good investment but we never promise you any thing because we do not know where the market is going and would never promise something we cannot deliver. Scammers are the opposite and promise you the world.

It's very common nowadays, it's also on FaceBook and almost every day I got a message on my spam inbox offering their services something like investment or trading that they were trying to help you to make money.  Imagine, if they can able to make money through trading and investing, why not they can't do for themselves for their own benefits right?  We should be careful dealing with unknown people on the internet, for sure they had hidden evil agendas just to take advantage of someone who will fall into their trap.

If we saw like this that obviously scam, we can report which social media platform they are.  Like on Youtube, there's a report button there, just simply click report and let Youtube's staff will handle it.  Most likely if there are a few reports, they will be deleted.

I've been following dozens of YouTube channels about crypto and about Bitcoin, apparently, the comment section is full of spammers that are dropping their contact information just to scam some people, this is actually harmless for someone like us who are familiar to this kind of scam since we usually ignore comments like this, and why would someone recruit people in YouTube when there is a platform like Bitcointalk? Definitely to scam some people.

Well I've been watching some scambaiters like Kit and they are also baiting those bot-like comments in the comment section. They are indeed scammers, because why would they even tell their secrets in the first place and why nobody in the world got rich due to those.

I never once in my life heard from someone claiming that they got rich from a random comment in Youtube. ::)

These could bots with scammers in the background. They will probably try to sell you some software which they claim to mine with 5x power than the traditional mining software. So it's best to avoid them.

Remember one simple thing, if someone claims that he has access to something magical which can help us to make tons of money without any effort, always stay out of that! Because if in reality someone has access to such software, he would try his best to guard it as a secret. He would never sell it to the people. So if you remember this thumb rule, you will be good!

They surely are spam comments from bots or scammers targeting newbies to buy coins from them.
Answers can be found on the internet. People curious about bitcoin will surely look it out on Youtube.
These newbies should learn that bitcoin is not easy money; most of the statements on youtube comments are exaggerated.

Most of the comments on YouTube are poured out with exaggeration, they are paid comments in order to lure out newbies and scam them, I am not generalizing every YouTuber and if the YouTubers are connected with these scammers but I swear I found these scammers funny, and if y'all ever encounter scammers on the comment section, warn these newbies right away, it's not their fault for being illiterate, some of them are super young or some are old boomers who are looking to gain easy money.

Scammers sometimes don't need to contact you but with their sugar coated tongue they can lure you to contact them and invest at your own risk.

you have mentioned this idea about YouTubers making scams and that is what they do now, there are even Bigger personality that silently scamming people by luring them to invest in a certain coins and then they will pump a while , after that you will be shocked that it will be dump drastically .

Scammers use all platforms to scam people so crypto investors have to prepare enough knowledge to avoid scam traps. One of most common scam methods are: impersonators, and go first with your deposit then you will get double of it, etc.

Especially that newbies are eager to earn easy money in cryptocurrencies and they are getting victimize easily by fake giveaways.

they are present in facebook too .
they can be a bot spamming plus scamming but they should be terminated later on because major platforms are strict and wont allow such things like that .
this causes a head ache if your the owner of the post because legit comments can be hardly seen and it gives a bad impression to your content but if we are only a visitor we can just ignore them .

Bots comments and reviews are everywhere even if you go on amazon or any other shopping website you see them, and it could be used either for scam or either to boost sales/profit, and this has lead to make them not a reliable source of information, so whenever you want to see a review about something make sure to make more research, and ask on forums for opinions.

I quite often find such people, the modes vary, their target is mostly telegram with market developing technology and messaging applications via mobile phones are getting faster and more innovative, creative features not a few people experience fraud.

For that, everyone needs to be careful in getting to know new people on Telegram, let alone providing information such as: password, user id, pin, your personal code can be a trap.

don't believe anything if they DM us and offer big profits because most of them will do scams. always have to ask forums and always learn things about crypto on various social media. maybe that's one way to avoid scammers. and also never give the security key to anyone. a lot of people take advantage of the benefits of new members who enter crypto.

The most dangerous scammers on YouTube write comments. And in general, you should not believe in too favorable offers.
You're exaggerating, you don't click it and they won't scam you, that's simple. If you think it is then probably you are so gullible to click on them. The most dangerous are those that you don't even know have already infiltrated your system and has started stealing like malwares, social engineering schemes, trojan and ransomwares.

Most of these are bot accounts and if they are a hot chick or most of those that commented the content or the post are some kind of rich guys, you know them. Most people in crypto wants to be anonymous as ever and you bet it's more than 50% as far as I'm concern. Most of what they'll asked is "Do you know what's Bitcoin trading is?" or I have this investment that could double your money is a short period of time.

YouTube has this ads as well that happens to have a crypto conference and they'll leave a message on the side where there's the link, avoid that one too it's a trap to scam universe.

If you see lots of accounts with repeated same comments, then I guess it's a scam. Although it is already so obvious that it's a scam, but some desperate people, or those who're quite naive and don't know much might get interested in those comments. I suggest that you should never believe in those kind of things, since I can guarantee that those are fake. Even if you contact them and they ask you money, as long as you don't give it it's fine though. Or maybe they're asking for your wallet and such, if you don't give them anything, you won't be scammed. But if you believe and give or do what they want, you will get scammed for sure.

There are many opportunities for profit here, that's why many people are curious and want to get into Cryptocurrency. And this opportunity was used by them to deceive the beginners, and that too many people succeeded and many people lost.
Here we have to be really careful, the many social media such as YouTube, Telegram, Facebook and others provide a wide space for scammers to commit crimes. Find the right information to start investing, and anything related to Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies, so that we can secure our money.

ANd the beginners become their most victims to get their money.
But, in fact, some that are not beginners also become victims of scammers that are very convincing. Moreover many new projects that seem very legit but in fact, they are scams.
And about in the youtube scam, there are also many victims that lose their money because of the scammers.

When there is value for a product, then the same will make scammers give it more attention. Same is happening with bitcoin and few of the cryptocurrency. The growth is tremendous and this makes them look for some way to get it. Some use the legitimate way to get make money out of it and some try the opposite way. This is where scammers make their way into cryptocurrency. These days the scam through YouTube have increased a lot. Also without any fear they're posting it to live stream.

The main goal of scammers is always the same, they will look for ways to make money by cheating. Because the crypto world is a new thing,
so many people don't understand how the crypto world works. This is used by scammers to commit fraud, because it must be admitted that fraud
in the crypto world is very easy. Because there are still so many beginners who think that crypto can provide instant wealth, this is what scammers
take advantage of. Therefore, most of the victims of fraud in the crypto world are newbies who do not have the knowledge and experience in
the crypto world. Many scammers choose platforms that do have a lot of users, one of which is YouTube, they will make a video promoting
a scam project. So be careful in choosing projects for investment, especially if we find a very good promotion of new projects on YouTube,
don't be immediately interested. Always do analysis and research before deciding to invest.

don't rely to those influencer who had small followers in the internet because for sure there will be some bots in it or should i say promoter with a multi account to keep pushing their project using good feedbacks especially in youtube.. So you better seek for those who have thousands sub for more info.
And for your questions wherin which is better between bitcoin and stock? Well they're both good mate amd very risky.. But the most profitable is crypto in my personal opinion.

we don't know if he is a fraud or not, because sometimes he will only give you signals about Chart Analysis for free or trial. but, personally, I don't advise you to send them money if they ask for it after you contact them. Nowadays there are lots of scammers who try to take your money in the name of big profits and things that interest you.

Yep, you can find this on YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and most of all, Telegram. they sometimes offer great benefits and again, I advise against investing in them.

however, it might be different if they teach you about analysis and trading. think carefully before you spend your money. I still highly recommend learning the freeway because I think there's quite a lot of such material on the internet, or maybe you can take a course directly with the experts.

very true, i agree with what you said. big profits quickly only if we dare to speculate or by gambling. but it all also has a big risk. if I myself prefer to find coins slowly by following the bounty, or if I have capital I prefer trading.

Never trust too much at a thing on the internet, especially when it comes to money....the majority of people who are deceived are because they are too trusting and greedy for "instant" things.  getting rich from the internet is not an instant thing, everything needs a process as well as getting profit from bitcoin.  (btw, i also once made a thread that said not to give your money to scammers)

They're bots and that's just another strategy to fool and scam people. Whenever you see them comment links that would redirect you to a certain site, just try to avoid it. Contents like that should be ignored so they couldn't have more victims anymore. Bitcoin isn't a scam but these people are trying to ruin its name.

Before we put money, of course, we must have considerations that are realistic, I have participated in many scam programs on the internet which finally made me exposed to scams, ICO projects, gambling, HYIPs and so on have made me no longer believe in programs that look very promising.

Scammers use all platforms to scam people so crypto investors have to prepare enough knowledge to avoid scam traps. One of most common scam methods are: impersonators, and go first with your deposit then you will get double of it, etc.

  • Andreas Antonopoulos (https://www.youtube.com/c/aantonop/playlists)
  • Common scam methods
    • Scammers on Youtube. Don't fall into this scam trap and lose money, guys (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5198456.0)

First off, all these comments are from people or are they bots?
As for I know, there are no bots for YouTube comments. So I think these are some people (hired by scammers) whose task is to keep commenting only one type on every crypto-related video.

I assume the scam here is you then contact that persons whatsapp or phone or telegram, then they ask you for money... then you get scammed?
Yes, they are scammers, they make you greedy and ask for money. And if you sent the money to them, then they either blocked you or ask you for more money. So don't fall into this trap and don't trust anyone like this.

I don't think they are bots, those comments are made by humans who don't want to work to earn money rather they specialise in trying to steal money from other people, f*cking scammers  ???

Telegram has been name scam paradise, there are so many scam ongoing on telegram every day, every time someone dm's you asking if you want to make profits trading crypto, they are all messages from scammers, I would advice you to be careful when using that app.

I certainly find them everywhere, in all social media platform commenting on a trending threads and videos.
I was wondering, is there still people who got fooled by these kind of scamming techniques? Because these annoying comments and messages is still flooding everywhere.

What kind of fool who believes in some total stranger offering how to earn money the easiest way.
Well, when it's too good to be true, then that's most probably a scam.
Sometimes, people were too lazy to make their due diligence.

Scammers come in various formats their target is your coin or your fiat which ever the can lay a hold of and are willing to go any length to prove how genuine the are just to take your valuable from you and once the target is hit you lose access to them. Avoid online adverts whose sites aren't verifiable. Doing research isn't just a one way activity it is involved in all aspect of life that has to do with investing generally.

The fact is fraud is everywhere. They use all the online platform to scam the people.Because if they are from Europe, they will scam the people from the Asia. Because they thought, they will not captured. Meanwhile, many people sell the phone number from other country. So it help to hide their own identity.

Everything too good to be true are scam and we all must put that in our mind. There are scammers everywhere and they do exist on all social media platforms and not only in youtube. They can be in tiktok, fb, twitter, telegram etc. And only those people who doesn't have knowledge get scammed on low efforts scam tactics like "I earn a lot of money here, contact me blah blah blah", obvious scam yet people are jumping in it.

And to answer your question, are they bots or actual people, I think they are actual people desperately in need of money. And then ask you for money once you get caught.

I remember one member of a discord group I belong got scammed $1000 to a certain group member also. And he ask us for help, and we can't do anything. That's the sad part, that you can't help those people who get scammed.

It’s just scammers and their tactics, they are always looking for who will fall into their trap. If you’re getting to see such comments on social media, then you’re seeing it late. They have been making use of this tactics and it’s becoming very annoying whenever I see it, they are always off point, they just post the comments everywhere.

I know for sure that there will be some people who will be falling for such scam, and once they contact these scammers on their WhatsApp, they will ask them for money to invest and then make away with it. If you’re looking to make money, you should do it yourself and not look for people who will do it for you.

They are bots definitely, no sane person will be able to post like that alone in a lot of channels in such a short time because it takes a lot of time and finishing the quota for those scam comments probably is impossible even for a really dedicated human that has all the efficient machines being operated. Don't click them because you're in for a misery with that one.

There are many ways for scammers to find their prey, but we as YouTube viewers know that if it is a scammer, we should report it to YouTube so that it will be deleted and blocked.
we may already understand the type of scammer, but beginners will definitely contact the number listed in the comments

this is actually homework for youtube, to tighten the system so that there are not many frauds that start from youtube

Firstly, it all videos on Youtube are good to watch cause some videos are created for advertisement purpose just to lure people into their trap and an example the video watch using the potential of Bitcoin to scam people.
Secondly, the comment are by the same people or group that created the video and sharing the link to lure people into their trap is the reason why the video was created.

I notice even on twitter when it comes to politics, you see these accounts post comments where it sounds like a bot... then you see other users who post the same exact thing.

That's how they operate, they start with a sweet conversation to make you feel interested in their offer and later ask for money. But you don't need all that cause everything you need to understand about trading crypto is within just ask on this forum and you will get the require answers.

I had asked about these a while ago.  This is an issue on many social media outlets.  Instagram has a really big problem with this right now.  I am amazed at how poor of a job these companies moderators are doing with this. Every time I see this crap I always respond with "scam" and 99.9% of the time you will not see any sort of response.  You would think "how dumb is this, an obvious scam"..but the truth is people deploy these bots and posts because they work.  Sickens me.  I have made my career in finance to fight back against corruption and financial scams..and this stuff pisses me off so badly.  All we can do is continue to report and point out these scams.

Having a political affiliation and shilling for them is not new and you cannot coin scammers and political shills the same. The shills usually does is to boost their political identity and they will use any tactics but it is all done to boost their political identity, while the scammers does is to scam off others money and these bots are aiming to target someone easy and lure them into their scheme.
The best option is to ignore them just like thousands of junk mails you get in your inbox.

Typical scammers that are scamming on Youtube.
Unfortunately because of these scammers, there are some youtube channels that are either terminated or deleted by the youtube themselves because of spamming that they aren't doing too. Its the scammers fault but these are just poser accounts so... yeah just don't fall into these whatsapp shit saying on the platform.

Its possible that these are bots though I believe that there are some who are doing it manually by just copy pasting.
Whether its twitter, youtube or even facebook. I've seen this kind of scammy replies to your comments numerous times already and I always ignore them because its a 101% scam.
Just ignore if you see the word "Whatsapp" or they are referring you to another person because for sure it is a scam.

Those are bots. Not a real person. Those bots can crawl through different videos or websites and look for keywords that are related to crypto currencies. Once they find one, they automatically posts a comment. They literally make hundreds of such comments in few seconds and then there will be at least one victim. It's very sad to see people still falling for scams like this. If only people used their brain a little, we wouldn't be seeing people getting scammed by those idiots.

They keep making crypto contents yet they should be the one to be educated about these scams.

Too sad that there are huge followers and subscribers that are being misled by them and if they don't want to believe it is a scam, they should just delete or moderate the comment section.

But if they don't believe it as a scam, they won't moderate and delete those scammy comments and it will result that there will be more victims for those scammers.

I do not believe 100% about what they say on Youtube because, with freedom of speech in all countries, they can easily turn out the fact and trick the audience. It is difficult to find an honest review from them as they search for popularity and, of course, money for their purpose to spreads the news. You can listen or watch what they say but if you want to follow them, make sure you know how to search for more information so you will not make a wrong decision. Be careful when you say that they can make money easily from crypto because although that is easy, not many people can follow the process and will need time to make money. The comment you see in the Youtube video comes from real people and some comments come from the bot.

I think not all of them are bots. Many are real accounts oriented by a manager, or as they like saying, an admin.
I've seen these comments everywhere: youtube, twitter, facebook, discord and so on. And probably these people are getting paid to spam their links and paste those stories of success which are actually fake. Some also post pictures of real people holding bunches of paper money in their hands or luxury goods.

But what most surprised me recently is that those posts are going from financial to pornographic content. It's pretty common to see pornographic comments with links in groups and youtube videos which have nothing to do with this theme. Are people also being paid to spam porn content everywhere as well? Because it really doesn't make sense.

Why do you contact people who write comments under videos? I really don’t understand. Please, don’t trust anybody apart from you, especially when your money concerns. I think that there are not bots who leave such comments, as Bitcoin is not a scam, it is quite real to make money on it, but please, don’t contact those people and offer them to trade with your money.

This sort of "astroturfing" has been going on since the advent of the internet and is basically a way that people are using to get free advertising. They may be a scam, or they may just be trying to advertise an affiliate link to you where they'll get paid a percentage or fixed amount per "conversion". Whatever the case it is a pretty underhanded way to try to drum up business and as you see - they specifically target the comment section of related videos hoping to get one or two foolish people to bite. It's almost like putting leaflets into mailboxes, 99 people will throw them away and 1 person will think they are getting a good deal - however in almost every case they are not.

What you can watch in youtube that are real are the guides like how to create a bitcoin wallet if there is a legit one and other related bitcoin guides or books but I won't trust it 100%. About the comments, you shouldn't believe anything from it at all. It is much better if you ask here and many will answer your questions without hesitation to answer it. The examples you mentioned are what scammers said mostly like "do you want to earn bitcoin?" go to this website to invest and you will get a 100% profit in 48 hours" which is not real.

first, don't easily believe in fraud with youtube mode or others by calling certain numbers to ask for money or whatever. There are many modes of fraud here and we must be more vigilant and careful. we also have to realize that getting bitcoin is not as easy as calling and getting it, it all takes effort. Don't be easily tempted by attractive offers because they are made as attractive as possible by scammers so that many people will be tempted and believe. it's better if we try in our own way so that it is safer and also clear the profit that can be obtained.
