Title: Does Bitcoin have copyright?
Post by: ROSEDF on August 19, 2021, 08:41:16 AM
Will Bitcoin have copyright?
If there is copyright, who should we apply for?
I want to open a clothing store. The clothes designed have the Bitcoin logo. Support the use of cryptocurrency for payment.
(Clothes like this. My painting is not very good.)

But suppose I print Bitcoin on clothes, is this legal?

If Bitcoin is not banned in your country, you are free to have the drawing anywhere. If you like, customize cloths in Bitcoin logo, it is not bad at all. Even in country like Nigeria that only the Central Bank is against Bitcoin, not the senate, no bill passed that makes it illegal, not also bad.

I think bitcoin doesn't have that and you're free to go doing designs like that because you're not the first to do this, a lot of people have been using the logo of bitcoin and anything related to it for a long time now.

If possible, I would consider having some matching accessories together.
This is actually a big project.

I have seen many items with the Bitcoin logo. There should be no copyright. This approach not only represents people's love for Bitcoin, but also promotes the spread of Bitcoin. Can make more people understand Bitcoin.

I have seen a lot of designs with bitcoin icons, you can design freely without involving copyright.

Hope to see your finished clothes. Look forward to it!   :) :)

Bitcoin itself is not copyrighted. You can do it. I think all the friends in the Forum will support you. Good luck  ;D

I think you should be able to use bitcoin logo without any problem.
The logo was posted for the first time here on this forum (Click here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1631) to visit the topic). The logo creator has allowed anyone to use it.

Note that any version other than the original logo (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bitcoin_logo.svg) may be protected by copyright.

Let's think theoretically, Bitcoin is a decentralized open-source cryptocurrency. Decentralized means no one has control over Bitcoin. If you are holding Bitcoin means you are the owner of that. So due to decentralized behavior, I believe you can use the Bitcoin logo for Bitcoin-related things. Like you can use the Bitcoin logo for advertisements of Bitcoin services. But you can't or shouldn't use the Bitcoin logo to advertise others. Like you can't use the Bitcoin logo to deposit Bitcoin cash. You can't write Bitcoin cash below the Bitcoin logo. Although there is no copyright, still Bitcoin community would claim if you use the Bitcoin logo in inappropriate places.

In your case, you are free to do so. It shouldn't claim copyright at all. But you should design a logo yourself. Doesn't matter it's the same all over the internet If you use someone else made logo from Google, then most probably the creator or designer of that logo would claim copyright.

I dare say bitcoin is not copyrighted, for example you open a food business and there you agree to payment via bitcoin and your shop is exposed to the bitcoin logo. satoshi nakamoto created bitcoin, did satoshi open a wallet to hold bitcoin copyright?

wtf??? There was a thread started yesterday dealing with this (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5355248.msg57726102#msg57726102) does it really need to be rehashed again???

I even recall some rare posters here in my country claiming that they can print T Shirts with some crypto logos. Just check first if there are any red flags from your government pertaining cryptocurrency for obvious reasons.
Good luck to your business though. I would love to see some sample T Shirt print when you're planning to continue your business. :)

afaik bitcoin has no copyright, you can make a bitcoin logo embossed anywhere.  if your country does not ban bitcoin for payment, then you can accept payments in bitcoin at will on the clothing items that you sell.  from what i heard some countries will arrest people who accept bitcoin as payment because it is not allowed in that country.

As far as I can tell, Bitcoin is free open source public project. It requires almost zero permission to use... I think that includes using the "logo". .. Perhaps, under the conditions you don't use it against the interest of Bitcoin and its ideals

I don't think there is any harm in you using the logo, so far it is used in an appropriate way and manner. You decide whatsoever you want to do, whenever you want. I don't think there will be any department that will come and meet you that they are from Bitcoin company to sue you

No copyrights of bitcoin you can use free mind, you can print on shirts, caps or any where there is no issue, however if it is illegal in your country then you have to check law detail about bitcoin.
You can prints bitcoin logo in shirts and i am 100% sure you will get good response, if payment process in BTC only.

Nobody owns bitcoin at the same time as we all own bitcoin.

So nah, there is no copyrighting with BTC at the least.

I am curious if someone tried to NFT the bitcoin logo ...hmm

Afaik, it doesn't have a copyright, I mean it's a decentralized cryptocurrency so it's kind of stupid and ironic that bitcoin has a copyright, look around you, there's a lot of bitcoin forks out there that have the code of bitcoin but there's no problem because there's no copyright to bitcoin and no one has registered bitcoin to a patent or trademark office so you are safe with your t-shirt design business.

There is no doubt that you can design the Bitcoin logo on your clothes as much as you want, because there is no copyright, as long as you like it, and I’m glad you have this idea, you can make the Bitcoin logo appear on your clothes, and Sell it to others. If you allow cryptocurrency to pay, then your government is not opposed to cryptocurrency. Please enjoy it.

Satoshi Nakamoto as the creator of Bitcoin is still a mysterious figure whose identity is unknown, so it is impossible for Satoshi Nakamoto to register
Bitcoin in order to have a patent or trademark. Of course this makes Bitcoin does not have a copyright, so if we want to sell t-shirts with the Bitcoin
logo we don't need to ask anyone's permission. Because Bitcoin gives freedom to everyone, to use the Bitcoin logo for anything. Even in some online
stores, there are already many selling t-shirts with the Bitcoin logo, but the online shop has no problem with copyright.

bitcoin currently does not have a copyright, and you do not have to pay royalties if you are going to produce bitcoin souvenirs, let's say you get excess profit and appreciate it in the form of clothes, and sell it so that everyone knows that bitcoin is virtual money of fantastic value

None of these answers directly state the Bitcoin logo's license.

It's in the public domain, according to Wikimedia Commons (https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Bitcoin_logo.svg), so there are no copyright or attribution issues you should be worried about.

That's why I said that no one has patented or registered a copyright and trademark to bitcoin yet because Satoshi isn't going to show up and it's going to be counter to his philosophy that bitcoin should be free if Satoshi or someone made a trademark out of bitcoin. Basically making it a pseudo centralized project if it happens.

I've seen a lot of screen printing of t-shirts and hats with the bitcoin logo and I'm sure those who screened the bitcoin logo on t-shirts definitely don't have copyright, except for those who make alcoin logos like the binance logo. copyright for binance.

Bitcoin is open-source, no copyright...

if you put it on the design of the clothes you want to market or the like then it's not prohibited as long as you don't claim that Bitcoin is your creation like CW did :D

Bitcoin is unique however, bitcoin is not copyrighted because bitcoin does not belong to anyone. So you can use bitcoin logo to print on your company's clothes or products without worrying about copyright. And one more thing, the idea of printing bitcoin logo on clothes is quite interesting. Where I live, the demand for bitcoin is also starting to increase but this idea I have not seen anyone use. I really like your idea. Good luck with your idea.

Bitcoin does not have a copyright statement. If it is your own clothing brand, this is a trademark copyright, and you need to apply to a centralized organization or design your own NFT. I want to give you an opinion. Your costume design is a bit too simple, like a joke? It is estimated that there is not much sales.
