That'll be a nice touch but depending on your browser, there is a workaround if you accidentally close the page prior to clicking the preview button...

  • e.g. While using the Chrome browser, you can get the exact page back with everything that you typed:
    • Steps:
Click the three dots at the top-right corner of the page > History > You should see it under the "Recently closed" icon > Click "Post reply" tab.
      - Everything will be there [even after 10 minutes] if you're using the default settings.

You are right but this is more of trouble when you forgot to preview and the browser decides to reload the page (potato problems I guess). Anyway, idc about it much now.

Interesting, even in that case should be possible to recover the post, many times I got restored the posts if the browser manage to recover and open the last open pages, using the "go back" button helps a lot.

Unfortunately this does not apply for TOR, there the things are lost if you don't preview them and the browser closes, so this suggestion will make TOR users' life a lot more easy.

I guess I'm curious about the current implemented time interval or it's just  only when the preview button is being clicked ???

There is no current implemented time interval, but in the past, I have accidentally shutdown my computer without saving a draft. On restarting the computer and launching the browser, I would still be able to load everything, including the text I was trying to type. I know of certain sites, once you launch the browser after a shutdown, everything disappears.

This happens to me too, even if I reload the browser, or site reloads itself, written text is still there and sometimes it goes blank. It doesn't seem like a browser specific thing, since I have changed plenty browsers since I registered here, this happening is completely random irrespective of browser I use.

A refresh of page makes everything dissappear on all browser, the backward navigation won't work on a refresh  that I'm sure. In the case of sudden
shutdown,  most browser has a session recovery storage to recover all opened tabs on that specific browser when it restarts.
Your proposal is a nice one actually, I've came across a post actually on this board talking about this very  stuff , I will try quoting it if I find any....

Yea it's reality u observed it, the chrome browser I was using after my device shutdown do to power I later recover it after some minutes using the procedure here, but I witness if one refresh the recovery is hard because it wipe out, it can only be possible when you load through the history ,or go through dashboard.

I just came casually to notice this proposal and strongly support it.
Countless hours have been lost as I often type on my mobile or with a bad connection.
That feature, which I think would be an easy implementation, would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

From the topic, I remember my first experience on the forum.
While I was up on the forum, sometimes when I was even busy, I tried to make a post and along the line, if I kept my phone because I was busy for a minute, all the things I had written would wipe off and that was how I struggled with all through those days. But now, if I want to post, I make sure I am less busy.

Anyway, the request for the topic has been made, and it's cool because now, if you click on preview, your written will be saved automatically as draft.
