Title: Can I get banned for selling Black Hat Software for "Learning purposes"?
Post by: QuickAccount on September 03, 2021, 04:25:06 PM
Hey guys! I got another marketplace question. Will I get banned for selling black hat hacking software? The software itself isnt illegal, it can just be used in a illegal way. Will I get banned?

It would be considered illegal if you include the "illegal way".

I would suggest you better sell it on other websites if you want to stay here
And read our forum rules here https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=703657.0

If it's illegal then probably.

There are MANY pieces of software that are usable by white hat, blue hat and red hat and those would probably be fine - it'll depend on whether the software does something that might specifically be illegal or if you market it as doing that (eg a ddos would be illegal but some types of scanners/sniffers would be fine if they could be used for firewall scanning).

Once you sell a tool/goods to your patronizers and the deal is struck and concluded it's not the property of that person instantly, you don't have control or say over that tool/goods, now imagine you intended it to be used for a good purpose and it has also illegal properties, I don't think you can control which the person would use it for, so if you can be honest with your self selling a goods with illegal properties, I think it should or may get you a ban.

As far as I know it's going to totally depend on how you promote it.

Bad: Use this tool to hack software!
Good: Use this tool to penetration test your software!

^ Something like that.

A bit off-topic, but what does blue hat and red hat mean in this context (security/hacking software)? I've no idea about blue hat and i only know red hat refer to the company.

A green hat hacker - a wannabe hacker
A blue hat hacker - in Microsoft's world, employed by the company to find vulnerabilities in unreleased products (similar to white hats). In some circles, a hacker seeking revenge.
A red hat hacker - a vigilante hacker (like white hats, but with significantly different methodology and goals)

And you probably already know about black hats, white hats and gray hats.
