Hi all...is this a good place to ask a question about loading a wallet.dat file to my hardware wallet on my new computer?

Hardware wallet doesn't support wallet.dat file if you want to use a hardware wallet what you can only do is to transfer all your funds from wallet.dat to your hardware wallet.

I would suggest you install a bitcoin core and import the wallet.dat file then export private keys.
After that install Electrum and import all private keys and then send all of your BTC to your hardware wallet.

Do you still have the password of your wallet.dat file? You won't be able to export private keys from wallet.dat if you don't have a password unless if it's not encrypted.

Adding this https://github.com/jackjack-jj/pywallet
You could use it to dump wallet of your wallet.dat file without downloading Bitcoin core just make sure that you have passphrase/password of that wallet.dat file.

Yes, any issues about Bitcoin can be posted here, for specific wallets, there's the wallet software (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=37.0) board.
If you'll ask, you can follow this 'pinned' posting guide so people can help you efficiently: [READ BEFORE POSTING] Tech Support Help Request Format (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1741772.0)
