Title: [Merit] [Faucet] Hey Bitcoiners! Wanna try out the lightning network?

BlackHatCoiner's on and off-chain testnet faucet

The point of this thread is to spread the usage of the lightning network and give some tBTC to those who want to test things in the Bitcoin ecosystem. I recently noticed that there aren't many testnet faucets and those that exist give tiny amounts in which you can't test the LN. (by opening a channel, for instance)

I, myself, will build a faucet that will give tBTC off-chain and on-chain, but I don't know when exactly will that happen. Thus, I decided to make this thread; to help those who want to try it out or experiment with the system without having to risk any real bitcoins. (Since 6-digit of testnet sats are nowadays hard to find)

If you don't know what's the lightning network see “Basics of the Lightning Network (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4940536)”.

On-chain faucet

If you want tBTC on-chain submit the application as following:
Code:
Amount: <VALUE_IN_BTC>
Address: <YOUR_ADDRESS>

Lightning faucet

I've opened a channel with - 0270685ca81a8e4d4d01beec5781f4cc924684072ae52c507f8ebe9daf0caaab7b@159.203.125.125:9735 - and deposited about 0.15 (https://blockstream.info/testnet/tx/e8cbe013f7f5f4087aaf729b9b7eae79f5aabddb188ce4cc562cdb2a591251f8) tBTC. I'll probably always have enough sending capacity.

Here's the application you'll have to submit if you want tBTC via LN:
Code:
Amount: <VALUE_IN_BTC>
Invoice: <YOUR_INVOICE>

Rules:

  • You can ask up to 3,000,000 sats or 0.03 tBTC. (PM me if you want more, I can make exceptions if you convince me that you really need them)
  • Once you're done with your testing, you ought to return them back to me excluding the mining fees you've paid. It doesn't matter when, but within a reasonable time I should have them back. (e.g., 1-6 months)
  • You may want to ask several times for additional deposits. Indeed, you can ask for tBTC multiple times as long as you've returned the previous amount(s) you submitted.
  • You won't sell them, I know. There's no reason to sell such small amount. However, if you've been found to do something suspicious with them, you'll get my negative feedback and you'll obviously be unable to re-ask for more tBTC.

It'll be my pleasure to help someone who had never interacted with the lightning network before. Newbies and Jr. Members will receive 1 merit if they're using LN for the first time, unless their history is full of bounty applications or they're loaded with negative trusts.

Great initiative, BlackHatCoiner! Thanks for your time to build it up.

By the way, let me share some resources about Bitcoin testnet

    Hi.

I am interested in trying out LN. All I know about LN is that it's faster version of btc that can solve the issue of scalability.

Can you guide me a bit how can I can my LN address which I can provide in this application for testing of LN.

Apart for testing LN, I m also interested in getting 1 merit which you are offering.

    Thank you.

You should give BlueWallet (https://bluewallet.io/lightning/) a try. It's a custodial wallet so you won't have to worry about opening and balancing your channels - they are slightly to difficult to understand at first. Every time you want someone to send you coins, you need to provide them a payment invoice. The Lightning Network does not use addresses.

    Hey @blackhatCoiner
I'm pretty much interested in these but can i get a little insight bout lighting network, how it's operated and what I'm to do with the sats or btc you're giving out

    Yeah,sounds funny but I'm into these ;)
I have a clue from the thread @rath made but i still need you or anyone else to make it a lil bit self explanatory

If you just want to test out the Lightning Network then try using a custodial wallet like BlueWallet (https://bluewallet.io/lightning/). You won't have to worry about opening your own channels and it should be easy to use. Once someone pays your invoice, you can use this website (https://lightningnetworkstores.com/) to choose a service which accepts Lightning payments.

This is really a great opportunity especially for me because this is the first time I'm hearing of LN (Lightning network). Thanks BlackHatCoiner for bring this opportunity to the forum it will really go a long way to help many beginners.

I am very much interested but as a beginner I will like to research and get more knowledge on how LN works before applying to avoid mistakes.

That's not a testnet Bitcoin address. It should either start with 2, m or tb1.

For what I understand about lightning network it is  a transaction channel between two parties where they can receive and make payment. but I don't know how it been used for what I have seen now I think it a good network that  worth studying more and understanding better before using.

Do you need some tBTC for your faucet? nullama's tBTC mining guide (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5415335) is working much better than expected and I'm not sure what to do with these coins. ;D

Bump. I've raised it to 3,000,000 sats as maximum.

I could use some for testing a network app.

    Amount: 0.00
    Address: TB1QAN046F9EM6V5PASXL42LXG9L7U772CQCVEJETP

However I could use more as I needed a minimum of .1 to test all. I will return once completed.

    Merci

    Hi,

I am looking for about 0.05 tBTC to open a channel with CLN and try figuring out a bug that affects it. My deposit address would be tb1qaulafm7ffztqv6g2wgs003g4c07p2hmjcsdyu6 . Would it be possible to send me some?

    Thanks!

Thank you for whoever sent me some tsats, I can return them to the tx's change address when the test is over. I am not sure if it is quite enough for the channel test I want to do. Another 0.009 tBTC would be safer I think if possible. Thanks!

    Amount: 0.009 tBTC
