Title: Bitcoin/.org faced an attack
Post by: ConnerDalfino on September 24, 2021, 11:07:27 AM
"Earlier this morning, the site showed a fake popup claiming the bitcoin foundation was giving back to the community. The popup gave an address to which customers would send their bitcoins and, in return, get double the amount they gave. "

What is your opinion regarding this matter? How is this possible and how it can be avoided in the future?

On a normal note, we know very well that no one will give you free Bitcoins. In fact, anyone or any site who claims that they want to give free Bitcoins is a scam. But Bitcoin.org isn't a scam site so it's pretty normal for you to understand that something is wrong. Only newbies may fall for such scam. Besides, even tho Satoshi Nakamoto is the one who wants to give the free/double Bitcoins, tell yourself that such thing is not possible. You should be alert! Be agile and don't fall for any scammer.

This is more of a web development thing. It is not like it had anything to do with the Bitcoin Blockchain.

That's really obvious tho, because to be honest i never see a legit site that asking for user to send bitcoin to their address and those users will receive a good return from it afterwards. Lol it's an old wary to scam people in the internet actually so probably no one will gonna believe in such way except of newbies.  Always make research instead and get more feedbacks because it can really help to avoid such scammer around the internet.
