I don't exactly remember his role in the movie, I guess he's a seer or some sort of a "prophet". . He normally live in isolation but knows what's going on in the kingdom. (*I however don't think the movie should be seen as source of Truth nor be believed, because the "system" would normally copy the truth of GOD side and pervert it.) Every wise King actually keeps a True/Holy Prophet or GOD's True servant to guide him, and the prophet is obeyed as long as it's the CREATOR speaking through him.
