Title: How to buy a membership on the forum?
Post by: zkquality on October 09, 2021, 12:36:44 AM
Hello I want to know about the VIP subscriptions here. How much are the prices to unlock the locked features? and how to buy them?

The main purchasable membership is the copper membership (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=credit;promote) I think the main advantages are halving the posting limit (newbies have to wait 360 seconds at most) and giving you a member signature - check the information available on that link and in the meta section to confirm what you're actually getting though. I'm not sure either of these are too useful though if you don't want them, I'd view a copper membership as a way to contribute to the forum and you could just do that later on if you wanted anyway.

I dunno if the one you want is the VIP status or just the copper membership. Because if it is the VIP status then you need to pay 50BTC  which is too expensive (more info https://bitcointalk.org/donate.html) while having copper membership is quite reasonable for newbies like you, check the the link posted above.

50 BTC to have a VIP badge nowadays is a very expensive cost and I don't think anyone will spend such big money to get that badge.

The last donator is Claymore with 10 BTC in April 2017, more than 4 years ago. Do you know Claymore a miner developer?

  • If you can not earn big passive income like Claymore, 10 BTC is still an expensive cost.
Thanks to Claymore, the first Donator in quite some time.

The OP clearly wants to buy a copper membership. No one is going to spend almost $3 million to obtain features on a forum they just registered an account on.

Since the OPs question was answered, we can lock this thread.

I was going to ask who the last donator was who got a VIP title, but happily you answered it for me--and I wouldn't have thought it was that recently someone shelled out the 50BTC to get it.  Bitcoin was in the $2000 range at the time if I'm not mistaken, so that was by no means cheap.  Strange that Claymore did that, because apparently he/they didn't intend on using the account all that much.  Their last activity was back in 2019.

So OP, hopefully you got your answer and welcome to the forum.  To overcome those Newbie restrictions, a Copper membership is one option, but another--cheaper--one is to rank up to Jr. Member, which only takes time, some posts, and earning a single merit.  Members with sendable merits may give you one if they like your post, and the ranking system here depends on them.  See this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0) for more about merits.

By the way, it's a courtesy to the forum that you lock your thread when you think it's outlived it's usefulness.  If you leave this one open for long enough, you'll keep getting the same answers over and over.  A lot of members are paid to post, so they'll just write anything.

Edit:

Since the OPs question was answered, we can lock this thread.
Oh, derp.  I didn't even see you'd written that too.

- Bitcoin's worth on that day = $1,242
  • 10BTC x $1,242 = $12,420
It is about $12,420, according to SFR10.
