Title: What is your biggest issue with Bitcoin wallets?
Post by: malevolent on October 19, 2021, 12:15:29 AM
(multicoin/multi-asset wallets included)

I have a couple questions about (software) wallets that I'd like to have answers to, feel free to rant ;)

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?

2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?

3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?

4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?

1. A feature that can have an option to add some 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) for sending or other wallet transactions.

2. A way that a wallet is becoming an exchange since I know some wallets there is a feature which you can exchange your coins to other coins. It's kinda become a centralized exchange somehow and later on users of a wallet will undergo KYC, but I don't know if this is a kinda big issue.

3. Coinoimi for me, this is the first multi-coin wallet I have tried since you can use it with desktop and mobile phones too.

4. For multi-coin wallet, I am expecting to support DeFi transactions like some wallets on browser extension (e.g. Metamaskl), for Bitcoin wallet, Lightning network feature/support is also good.

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?
Send to many in the multi coin wallet like- Trust wallet. I don't know if it exists but I haven’t seen. It would be good to have such feature.
There are few services which allow multisend for asset like ERC20, BSC but they are paid. Coin98 seems the only cheap solution till now.

What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?
I usually use Electrum for BTC, Trust wallet for altcoin. Without the above(electrum has multisend), I don’t think there's a big issue with them.

3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?
Electrum. It doesn’t require you to sync, it's UI is quite easier for newbies and it doesn’t require a lot of space. Colours? I don’t think it makes a difference for me as long as I have the features I need.

4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?
In electrum, lightning option can be more easier for newbies. It's a bit confusing in my opinion.

I have yet to see a wallet that allows user to create their own scripts in a user friendly way. For example if you wanted to create a timelocked transaction with OP_CLV you have to bend over backwards and use third party web tools and there is no option for any other slightly-more-complex scripts such as a simple conditional smart contract using OP_IF family.

Features sorely missing:
- a "smart contract" toolkit perhaps similar to what pooya87 suggests. And we all know Bitcoin is capable! I've now seen several platforms let users build their own pre-made scripts, just drop and add and customise for all kinds of sophisticated functions.
- dumbfire LN (we're getting there though I think)

Biggest issues with specific wallets (Electrum)
- the mobile app is a PITA. It does work, but on a fairly new Android, it still feels clunky and laggy. If not for loyalty and force of habit, and simply because I trust it the most, I'd have uninstalled it on first sight.

Favourite wallet and why?
- Electrum because it's probably the best mix of easy/light/fast with fairly sophisticated functions. But it was my first love, so I suppose it's why I like Irfanview too. It can be very confusing for a newcomer too, though, especially since the last few updates -- the actual sending>signing>broadcasting bit took an additional step I think (makes for safer spends, but will frustrate newbies).
- Exodus was, for 2016, a really good multi-crypto wallet that I wish Electrum looked like. Beautiful, easy to use and understand, but was/is not open source and their removal of DOGE a few years back was so nasty I simply stopped using them.
- WAVES lite client in 2016 also was an incredible piece of wallet engineering IMO. Also multi-crypto, with a DEX built in, and a basic smart contract factory inside to issue your own side tokens on Waves, play around with other functionality in testnet. I honestly thought the Russians were on to something there.

Changes would you like to see
- modernised mobile app would be nice. Not so much for current users but for the sake of attracting new ones.  It's a brilliant software... but perhaps needs the touch of a designer more "relevant" to uh, millennial needs.

Note: some experiences influenced by reactions/comments of teenagers coming into contact with Electrum.

1. Feels like it really was the 2FA authentication, I kinda like the feature of doing it on mobile and email address. I don't know if Biometric was the best feature I can think especially on mobile wallet but for extra added security, it feels like that.

2. We have the same experience with buwaytress, I am using the Electrum mobile wallet too. It takes time to load if you're putting your password and when opened so do the transactions.

3. For now, I guess it's Trustwallet mobile app. I do like the simplicity of it and the availability of multiple currencies.

4. I can't think of any but would likely embrace it if there is.

Electrum is my favorite wallet and it's the only one I have used consistently, long term. I use. It cause it sufficiently saves my Bitcoin and gives me full autonomy over my coins, while being user friendly and easy to navigate.

This. Electrum mobile app seems to be a much cheaper version of the original, with a bunch of features missing, such as, locking inputs and choosing the specific sat/byte you wish to pay for transactions rather than selecting from a range (medium, low, high priority).

1. The feature that are missing in most wallets are the safe option to "sweep" paper wallets.

2. The security features can easily be bypassed, if the 2FA can be exploited. (You first get the password with a key logger and then you get access to the phone or more experienced syndicates can just do a Sim swap.)

3. Electrum (It has a quick and easy "sweep" option.)

4. The miners fee should be highlighted in the Fiat value. ( I once paid $1000 in miners fee, when I did not take notice of the fiat value)

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?
Almost all bitcoin wallet do not have coin control and addresses freeze, this is a unique feature that all bitcoin wallets suppose to have.

2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?
Many are close source, but I have to stop using many like Coinomi and Atomic wallet. I hope you can fathom how close source wallets are biggest issue.

3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?
Electrum, because it is the best. It has coin control, address freeze, send to many, selecting your own change address, support lightning network, compatible with BIP39 when not BIP39, support watch-only wallet for tracking, support cold storage if used on an airgapped device to only be making transaction, support private key importation and master key importation, many wallets do not support this.

4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?
In-built Tor or make-up in a which central servers will not be able to link addresses together and also in a way central servers will not be able to link IP address to bitcoin addresses.

2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?

There's no perfect wallet that combines a bit of privacy with being fast to use (SPV) and cross-platform (for example, Electrum, while it's great on PC, it doesn't work with HW on mobile).

3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?

Electrum for desktop. UI good enough, all the important features are there, pretty much trustworthy, and yeah, habit too.

4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?

We seem to lack wallets friendly with complete newbies. This is something I think that's missing badly. Some people need more than the functionalities made simpler, they also need everything explained, they need to be told where to be careful (for example to double check recipient wallet before sending), maybe wilth the hints being optional (easy to deactivate while the user starts learning his way).

I would love to see Electrum for Android also work with HW.

I would love to see in Electrum more privacy-oriented implementation (there were proposals so the logging/tracing of users' addresses would be a bit more difficult), maybe even allow Electrum also call Bitcoin core directly (provided that tx index is 1, obviously)?

I would love to see a very good Electrum server and block explorer solution well done and configurable for Windows. Most of the current solutions are done for Linux, most have each and everyone of them its own data (so one may end up with Bitcoin core indexes, Electrum server DB and also block explorer's DB).

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?
Good GUI,,, I know this is not important to many people but we had good GUI software since 2000 for some applications why not Bitcoin wallets?

2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?
No easy way to tell you how long your transaction takes,,, Good wallets give you recommended price, but no wallet tells you with high accuracy how many minutes. They say blocks, or you must go make your own calculations.

3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?
Electrum but this is more of trust and habit :) I did love to use Coinomi wallet in the past

4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?
Good graphic interface so when I introduce to people they do not think it is a Windows 95 old school thing.

1. 2FA security, all of the wallets I've used doesn't have this feature and I think this would add extra security or maybe a PGP signature to unlock the wallet. Also a mobile version as well as coin join feature.
2. I don't have specific issues with the wallets I'm using right now
3. Electrum, most trusted and reliable software or portable Bitcoin wallet.
4. Have some coinjoin feature for micro transactions, offline transactions feature if possible.

2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?

For us average users...
When a wallet like Multibit is no longer supported or when something like Armory changes hands.

When I had Armory running 24/7 on a desktop using it several times a day it was fairly integrated and felt easy to use however, leaving it for a year or 2, coming back to find it needs an update + a new version of core    ------->Aaaaand that sinking feeling when your balance reads 0 for too long when syncing.

I wasn't as diligent about keeping track of my og. bitcoin addresses when backing them up as paper wallets: I could have just checked the balances on block explorer.

Electrum is on my old phone but I didn't feel the need to install on the new one a few years ago because Coinbase was easier to use + now they support many cryptocurrencies.
So Coinbase is easier but "not your keys / not your coins".

1. I hate the withdrawal time that it takes while you generally withdraw your money after selling your coins. The deposit is somewhat instant but they have to make sure to integrate instant withdrawal as well.
The wallet have bad user interface when it comes to the price graph.
It does not have all the cryptos added there but I do realize that it takes times therefore it's only appropriate to wait and buy them on some other trading platform.

2. Need to submit all the documents and also integration with your bank accounts but it's not the wallet's fault apparently the government made that as a rule therefore we can't really say anything about it.

3. For me my favorite wallet would be samourai but I generally use Zebpay to withdraw and to trade. Since samourai is not only private but also have integrated segWit. For Zebpay it's easier for me to add money in my bank account ( local one)

4. Everything that I said in (1) answer certainly needs to be improved.

multicoin wallets:

  • The code should be open source, and a unified standard for including wallet seed support all other wallets.
  • Inability to control fees, computer wallets have weak interfaces, while phone wallets (Android/iOS) do not offer additional protection methods other than traditional methods.
  • New wallet, they have an attractive interface that offers a good display of coins.
  • wallet have same electrum features, support many coins like trust and have interface like new wallet

Not sure if how difficult this is to work on, but my "dream" wallet is a bitcoin wallet where the end-user doesn't even know if he/she is using bitcoin main-chain transactions, or lightning transactions. Like, the wallet just automatically chooses based on the size of the transaction. UX is still something that definitely needs to be worked on.

Good question because today I experienced something annoying.

I used Coinomi wallet because I thought when swapping coins on the wallet I can able to save fees but the truth wasn't. I have paid terrible fees when I have altcoin swapping to bitcoin which is what I thought when I transfer to my wallet I cab be able to save the fee. Another purpose is I used this wallet because I can also able to hide my identity upon swapping into other coins. Most of my concern is the fees here which is far different if I use Electrum wallet.

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?
If Coinomi wallet does the same feature with Electrum that we can reduce and modify the fee, which is much better.

2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?
The modification of fees. Not totally open source. Have a fixed fee.

Quote
3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?
I realized Electrum but I have heard hardware wallets have an advantage feature over this. However, Coinomi has a good feature, user experience but there is one that I don't like when it comes to the fees.

Quote
4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?
I used Coinomi and maybe it is good if they have the same feature with Electrum.

I have been thinking on this since long and I always had few ideas about modifications of the wallet. Honestly these ideas came in from the use of daily Fiat wallet or payment apps like google pay or razor pay etc.

A) Crypto wallets has capability of scanning the wallet address from QR code. Nice one. However what if these are modified in such a way so that they will be able to scan the regular UPI QR Codes and then let us pay in the local currency from crypto to Fiat ?

B) They should lower the fees by means of batch processing capability. Sounds crazy and complex but imagine if wallets were able to synch the bunch of transaction which are taking place at same time, grab them at one node and share the fees such that it will be nullified to user?

What do you think about these ideas. Either they are shitty or they could be life changing.

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?
1. An interface that should be more responsive so that it does not burden the smartphone system load. The interface is important and should be good, but the responsiveness of the interface also needs improvement.

Quote
2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?
2. The biggest problem I have complained about so far is that some bitcoin wallets or multicoin wallets such as trustwallet and other wallets are price synchronization which sometimes do not match or deviate greatly from the price of the coin. this has become a common problem and often occurs in new coins or old coins.

Quote
3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?
3. There are 3 favorite wallets that I still use to this day, namely imToken, Trustwallet and SafePal. I also use a safepal hardware wallet and it's really very safe because to send assets only you need to scan the barcode on the hardware wallet. Safepal is also always updated and has many advantages.

Quote
4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?
4. Some changes may only be in terms of the interface which needs an update which must be fresher. as well as a continuous security system updated. Wallet is not just a place to save, but a place to make profit by staking, LP and more.

1. Almost the same as what @GreatArkansas stated above, it is about verification when we want to send BTC. So far, I see there no such verification asking for 2FA such as Email, Google Authenticator, or Message to my phone number.

2. I have found no big issues. The biggest problem probably is about the number of transaction fees only.

3. My favorite BTC wallet is Segwit. It is simple and easy to use. I avoid using BTC wallets that are rather complicated in using it. Another reason, it supports bech32.

4. The process to create Segwit wallet is a bit complicated or rather difficult. I hope it can be easier in the future. So, newbies can easily create it.

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?

I believe these wallets must provide us 2FA facilities like phone call, sms, Google Authenticator, etc. to make the security very tight.

Quote
2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?

Some wallets change addresses constantly and I believe it's good, but to some extent where people like us need a single address to be shared, it is not something I'd prefer. Yeah definitely it helps maintain privacy, but come on, are we really that private anymore?

Quote
3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?

Electrum, it's a habit to use it and I'd call it an extremely simple and sober way to get known to crypto in a simplest way, so I use it.

Quote
4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?

I'd like Electrum to give an in-built exchange (through a third party exchanger) be made available so not to let me send coins to an exchange and waste my money on fees, but charge their commissions and let me trade inside.

I agree with others with the 2FA being added and not just passwords which are mostly used like in Electrum and Mycelium.
I have them both, one on my PC and the other on my smartphone.
Other issues were said by other members but if there will be changes that I want to add to the software it will be a direct link whenever I look at the transaction hash/history.
In Mycelium there is a prompt but it always brings up an error and I think the web URL that was used is wrong or phased out. It would really make clicking easier than copy-pasting.
That's it, I think I covered all the questions including the favorite and most used.

A mobile wallet with an alert via SMS to acknowledge the receipt of an incoming coin just like a bank alert will be a welcome idea, I think blockchain has such feature and moreso easy to navigate user interface and not too complex sort of like in some wallets thus newbie friendly and most importantly 2FA is very important to improve the security of the wallet, if the wallet can feature signing of messages like electrum for authentication using mobile phone not necessarily or always on PC

Some wallets change addresses constantly and I believe it's good, but to some extent where people like us need a single address to be shared, it is not something I'd prefer.
If you need only an address or you want to be using a single address, you can copy it and paste it somewhere that you will easily access it. You can give out your address to anyone, it can be anywhere on your device and you are good. Address is what you can give out to public.

For example, you are using a wallet that change address, that does not mean you can not give it out to a campaign manager on this forum, even if the address change to another on your wallet, any coin sent to your previous address (like the one given to campaign manager) will still be successful, the coin will be stored on blockchain and the amount will appear on your wallet balance.

So, there is nothing wrong about change address, it helps privacy to an extent, you can not expect all blockchain observers to run central servers all because they want to link IP address and bitcoin addresses together, and yet if they do, change address is still given privacy compared to using single address which its coin can easily all be seen on blockchain to all blockchain observers.

Electrum wallet is not a company or even a custodial service that has an owner, it is an open-source code that everyone could have access and there are few developers team that gives an update on Electrum. However, your suggestion is good and it looks like the same on those multi coins wallet that has a built-in exchange inside but the problem of those wallet has a terrible fee.
I am an Electrum user and I have never had a problem, the only one that I am want to have changed is Electrum wallet should be also supported with non Segwit wallet because I cannot able to send coins to Electrum because I am using a local wallet with an address of the legacy wallet.

Yes, that is not possible, he is totally implying custodial exchanges. But exchanges can also be decentralized and be open source, like bisq. It can also be possible for Electrum to have an open source decentralized exchange but I do not think that is happening anything soon even if it will later likely become reality.

the only one that I am want to have changed is Electrum wallet should be also supported with non Segwit wallet because I cannot able to send coins to Electrum because I am using a local wallet with an address of the legacy wallet.
Segwit has been activated since 2017, any exchanges that is not using it should not be used. But normally on noncustododial wallets, you can receive or send bitcoin from or to any wallet irrespective of the address type, be it legacy, nested segwit or native segwit.

But, you still have to know that Electrum support legacy addresses:

Either you downgrade your wallet to version 4.0.9 to see segwit as an option while setting up the wallet, but which I will not recommend because it is good to use the latest version.

You can use the version 4.0.9 to generate just the legacy type of the seed phrase, then import the seed phrase on the latest version of Electrum. This will automatically generate you legacy keys and addresses.

You can use the console, type in:

Code:
make_seed(seed_type="standard")

It will generate you seed phrase, then import the seed phrase generated on it to another Electrum wallet, it will be of legacy type.

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?

I am using three wallets for now. This includes mycelium, electrum and nano ledger.
For all of them or any other wallet out there I see one major challenge or feature that is missing -> Offline Transactions. Traditional banking apps who needs internet to synch the data and validate the data before confirming a transaction. Unlike that, crypto wallets has additional benefits of blockchain where the Tx gets confirmed after miner validates it once it is broadcasted to the chain and picked up by miners. When we have a wallet installed in our phone they usually synch up the latest blockchain data and work in series of data packs received and sent.

I believe that crypto wallets should be able to send the money even when its not connected to the interenet. They can add the feature in wallet which will help embed the broadcasted transaction hash on the phone its itself and get "temporary confirmation". The receiver address should gain the coins in their wallet by means of NFC, IR, Bluetooth to synch up this hash and make the coins available in their wallet.

Once any of the mobile phone is connected to the interent then wallet shall be able to synch this data with the parent blockchain and get the "permanent confirmation" about that Tx.

Obviously this will have many technical issues but what I have mentioned an issue and an imaginary solution to it as per my thoughts.
May be developers could have solution on this in near future, but with the blockchain tech I believe it should have been invented already.

2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?

Well I have no other complaints with the wallets. All I am concern about the connectivity which they have given us. No network means the app is useless.
At least they should be able to add the feature where I can synch the data between my mobile version and desktop versions too. Read above to understand this.  :)

3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?

Mycelium is great one for me. Idk, may be this is the wallet where it all started for me. Obviously the ease of use is way better than other wallets. I can easily bump the fees, tx if not broadcasted or got stuck. I get to have HD wallet and regular wallets which I can segregate as per my needs. Good feature mostly not seen with other wallets. The fee structure can be chosen as per your speed. They have unique differentiation of fees, like low priority to highest priority. Recently I have seen lowered fees in the mycelium as compared to others.

4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?

Ability to notify the incoming and outgoing transaction in the notification bar is not available for the ledger and mycelium if the app is closed. Or in case of ledger you need to have it plugged in to see the notifications.

Also, they dont have the quick smart apps on the Apple watch. For example, Raven Core has their smart watch app to where you can quickly see the upcoming transaction and also check the balances. This is missing for others I believe.

For me there is only one feature that is missing on Bitcoin wallets and I think one of the probably the best to have is the coin mix for any amount, I use Wasabi wallet before but the minimum amount is 0.01 BTC which is not suitable for micro transactions, some users wanted to have a private transaction even with smaller amounts but I think it's because of the transaction fees and other stuff.

I am checking sparrow wallet right now and I think you can use coin mix with smaller amounts around 0.001

(multicoin/multi-asset wallets included)

I have a couple questions about (software) wallets that I'd like to have answers to, feel free to rant ;)

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?
hmm, perhaps the most sought after feature is the security system itself. Well, maybe I think 2fa is a feature that needs to be in every wallet. In addition, systems such as forgotten email, or mobile phone numbers, or things that can provide alternative access to login other than pviate keys may also be needed. Well, that's just a thought I've had so far.

2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?
My problem regarding the wallet that I have is several. the first is the problem of how to access the wallet. sometimes i save PK and password in some places like mobile, or PC. however, i always think about it, what if it goes away ? Well, maybe that's the thing I always think about my wallet.

3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?
for bitcoin, I use a web wallet like blockchain.info, while for ethereum, I use Myetherwallet, and BSC, Trustwallet. however, so far I'm more inclined to keep assets on CEX like binance.

4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?
So far so satisfying, because I rarely pay attention to the wallet I have. however, if you want a change, I might want a security and recovery system that is within reach of the person who owns the wallet.

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?
A modern-looking GUI and design. For the older generations who are into Bitcoin for years already, the way the software looks isn't that big of an issue. But newer generations will look at it, and say nah, this doesn't look right. For increased adoption, it's their opinions that have to be take into consideration.

2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?
I would love to see a wallet with a detailed walkthrough and on-boarding process for newbies. Not just FAQs, DOCs, and videos explaining how to use the wallet to send, receive, etc. I would like a testnet environment similar to what some exchanges have to teach users how to trade on their platform. A testing area that users can go through with testnet coins that shows them how to generate an address, how to send and receive coins, select the appropriate fees, double check your entries... And they should be able to do all those things in that test environment, not just read about them.

3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?
I have to go with Electrum here. A force of habit and its trustworthiness. Electrum was the wallet I tried many years ago. It worked back then, it still gets the job done today, and offers me the coin control features that I need.

4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?
The points I mentioned in questions 1 and 2.
An open-source multicurrency wallet would also be a pleasant surprise.

1. The ability to convert cryptocurrencies through low minimum amount requirement. The minimum amount requirement is usually on the higher side in many wallets based on what I observed.

2. The biggest issue that I observed in certain wallets is that fees for any TX cannot be manually set which is a con in my opinion.

3. Exodus all the way. I love it's design and performance on my mobile and it's security protocols are top-notch.

4. The minimum amount requirement needs to be lowered in Exodus since it usually on the higher side for all cryptocurrencies.

The biggest issue with using a bitcoin wallet based on my experience is I lost money because of phishing.

When I open my Electrum wallet, there's a prompt that I need to update to the latest version, and I just click it not knowing I was redirected to a fake site. I'm not gonna divulge the amount I lose but as of the current price, it's already a decent amount.

However, despite what happened in the past, I still use the Electrum wallet and it's my favorite so far, I'm more confident now as I learn from my past mistake and I'm sure I will never lose my bitcoin again.

I tried a few wallets only, the most active wallets I'm using now are Exodus and Electrum.

I used Electrum for my campaign earnings and I love this wallet because you can adjust the fee you want and I just have to check here (https://mempool.space/) and I would already know how much fee I should put in to confirm timely. However, I also faces problems in the past as I almost became a victim of phishing, I'm glad that I have a group where I could ask for help.

The other wallet which is exodus is used mostly for altcoins transactions, I think they have a lot of altcoins I can store the altcoins that I want, but maybe sooner I will have a hard wallet so I don't need to store it on my desktop wallet.

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing? The ones I use tend to have most of the stuff I want, which for a hot wallet is normally basic stuff.  It would be nice if they could add Tor (though not sure if that's good for cell phones).  It would also be nice if most of these hot wallets would allow for swapping basic coins.

2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?  Not too many big issues other than lack of coin coverage.  Mycelium on apple stopped supporting their wallets on apple, so that was obviously a big issue.

3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?  I use Bread most often.  I like it as it's just very basic and easy to use.

4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?   Add more of the features I mentioned above.

I believe coins.ph does that also, and I've been using it since then. I prefer it more because it's user friendly and newbie friendly also. It alerts me every transactions that have took place like example sending and receiving via SMS and email. And it has a 2FA which is the most important thing to secure my wallet and my informations.
In case some of you doesn't know coins.ph yet, it is a wallet and a conversion platform which is backed by blockchain. And I'm also using electrum but it's where I choosed receive any crypto currency especially btc before sending it to my personal wallet for security purposes.

So far i don't have biggest issue when it comes bitcoin wallet because i'm using a very trusted platform since 2017 wherein until now they keep upgrading their system and it's getting better , and what i don't like only is the fees of bitcoin which not good..but yeah i can still prevent paying massive fees because i have options since there's 6 cryptos available on that wallet.. No massive issue , and so far after how many years it's still good and very reliable to store bitcoin..

What do you mean by scammer's wallet?
To be safe from scammer websites, of course, you must know the original website of the wallet you are using. Don't get caught up with phishing websites.
Reading news about scam wallet websites will not get you caught and fall into the trap. it is information to let you know that the wallets of scammers are numerous and dangerous. Do not click on websites carelessly, do not enter or give private keys to people or websites that are not convincing. The private key is the primary key and you must protect it.

Most probably a phishing website because we will never know it's a scammers wallet until we get scammed. And besides, if we know it's a scammer's wallet, why would we send a certain amount to that wallet? And besides, anyone can easily make a fresh wallet that is not associated with scam transactions.

Quote
The private key is the primary key and you must protect it.
Make a soft copy and hard copy and place it in different locations, just to make sure it's accessible in the event of disruption such as fire, flood or if there's chaos/war within your area.

Before installing an open-source wallet, always you should compare the checksum of the downloaded file. If the file has been corrupted while downloading or modified by a third party, it can be understood by comparing the checksum of that file. and before downloading any file we should check the URL carefully if downloaded directly from the original website, it is possible to be safe from such fake wallets.

To me, blockchain wallet and trusty wallet remains my most preferred wallets as blockchain wallet give a relatively low network fees option compared to other Bitcoin wallets, and trust wallet on the other hand offers the multi-chain options which can store several coins across different chains.

Biggest issue with Bitcoin web wallets is risk of malware and phishing links which are used for steal password. And many of people logged in third party links and they lost their accounts so It is risky to login wallet accounts of Bitcoin.

1. What feature do you think is missing the most?
Features that can have option to add multiple 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) in each transaction

2. What is your biggest problem with the particular wallet you use, or with the BTC/cryptocurrency wallet as a whole?

I don't have any particular problem with the wallet I'm using at the moment

3. What is your favorite wallet and why?
only imtoken and trustwallet ,

4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet you are using?

there is a direct exchange to fiat  so that you can directly transfer to a local bank

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?

One of the features I have been missing for years is a transparent fee display with the option of how long you have to wait until the transaction is confirmed. You can set individual transaction fees with many wallets, but you always have to use an external source to calculate approximately what the right amount is so that a transaction is confirmed in a certain time.
Often I have transactions that are not urgent and I could wait 1-2 days until they are confirmed. If you had a good fee display in the wallet, you could save yourself a lot of time of calculating the right amount of fees, especially in phase where tx fees are pretty high.

If wallets addresses can be linked with proper names, that will be beneficial. I mean if every address has an alphabetical name attached, so it will be easy to give our addresses to others if we want to receive money, and also it will reduce the risk of sending the coins to the wrong address.

2. I think the biggest issue is that my online wallet has high fees and exchange rates. While I do understand that it is part of such business, I would love to see the rates being competitively and relatively low;

3. I think I am quite comfortably with Bitpay. Though it is a wallet that has an integrated exchange, the user-interface is not as much as complicated compared to other wallets that I searched; and

4. As of now, low rates and fees would definitely be accepted!

Electrum has fee estimates, it can give you a rough answer how many blocks it should take for your transaction to be included in a block. But as always there's a possibility of a spike in transaction activity forcing you to bump the fee or wait longer.

I wish they is a wallet that is universal to all networks in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. And also accept other coins as fee payment. For instance, I want to send ethereum but the fee is too high and may affect my transaction, but I have bitcoin, they should be a wallet that allow users to pay fees using bitcoin while sending ethereum

I look for wallets that have coin control, LN support, ability to connect to my own node, custom miner fees, fee bumping, multisig support, and a general ease of use.

I use Cold Card for my hardware wallet, Sparrow for my desktop client, Muun for my mobile wallet for both on-chain and LN payments.

I avoid using KeepKey, Trezor, and Ledger because they have a copy of your xPub and thus know the balance of all of your addresses and which ones are yours. Super bad for privacy.

I also still use Electrum for some features that Sparrow doesn't have yet but with as fast as Sparrow is growing, I don't think I will be using Electrum for much longer simply because I won't need to. Electrum is still an excellent wallet.

Between all of these listed above, I am able to do just about everything that I need to.

The lack of LN integration is by far my biggest gripe with most bitcoin wallets.

Luckily, this is something being addressed by many popular wallets. I just think having LN capabilities will be the difference between popular and unpopular wallets in the future.

Those changes specially in related with LN would really make a big change and would totally resolved out that issue that we do have with Bitcoin that had been always criticized.
So far aside from security then i dont see any major problems or issues with bitcoin wallets even upto todays time. For now ive been using Electrum
which does really suits out my needs most of the time. You could modify the fees and you could push up transactions when it gets stucked which does
really give out convenience.

Yeah, Electrum has integrate LN already so everyone can try it and see how it goes and take advantage of it or you can simply play around.

I guess everyone is very different, others see wallet as being difficult to use. But if you are technically incline and have been in the industry for so long, you really know how to practice security and good hygiene so that you won't be the next victim of theft or being scam.

I use Electrum wallet which is the best wallet I've used but there are some missing features I want to look forward in the future. One of it is the coin mixing on the wallet itself and of course it is much better if we can use the join coin even in small amount, though I am not really sure how things works but if it possible in the future then I really think the Electrum wallet is already perfect since it is also hardware compatible.

I know most of us are used to seeing bitcoin prices to be quoted in US dollar but i feel most wallets i have used dont offer a wide range of currency options especially that bitcoin is a currency without boarders.

Another feature i have noticed is its either legacy wallets aren't supported or they don't support native degWit addresses that start with bc1q not the 3.

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?

general noob software has too many things set as defaults and make it complicated to change. EG even core demands people 'edit file' of a config file or use command prompts. rather then having a drop down option menu.
even things like being able to manually set a fee or change the fee can sometimes be iffy to do with some wallets that prefer defaults.

...
rather then just calling all software "wallets" they should be clearly defined for their different purposes.
basically use better buzzwords/analogy words.

for instance
a hardware wallet. its just something that by itself holds the keys. so call it a 'keyring'
a lite wallet. it doesnt hold all the accounting and blockchain. so call it a chequebook
a full node wallet. being an archival node stores it all. so call it a briefcase/satchel
an exchange/custodial hot/cold wallet. call it a bank account/vault

make the names less specialist/technical/nerdy.. and more average joe friendly

many noobs are fooled into thinking a pruned node or lite wallet is the same as a full node because "wallet"
if all they care or think bitcoin is about is making transactions. they cant tell the difference. so a better average joe friendly  naming system can help create the different types of involvement and be a better level indicator by calling it names that indicate what it can handle or not... or atleast prompts people to start asking the right questions about whats the difference, rather then blindly thinking they are all the same.

EG for nearly a decade the word "wallet" for something that store keys. has been badly overused. where as keyring is more relevant. as for ones that just make transactions. because bitcoin is not a bank note but more so something that resembles the detailed required for a cheque. a cheque book would be a more appropriate term. it just confuses the noobs less by having words they can understand the purpose of.

2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?
cores software should be a full node, and they should allow other brands to be full nodes too, to reduce central points of failure. (without the political assassination attempts of REKT they done in 2014-17) . and if people want to be 'pruned' they they should download a different software which has a different useragent identifier.. so that for instance "core-lite" does a pruned version of IBD

too many noobs are fooled into thinking that when pruning on core, they are then still supporting the backbone of the network. yet reality is they are no longer part of the backbone of seeding blockdata to leachers.

3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?
i made my own. to do the tasks i need. whilst still doing the backbone stuff for network support.

for investor wallets. it could include a api call to grab the price of bitcoin on certain days and tag peoples 'received coins' with a price. and then beside it have the current price. to show the profit/loss.

for general users. better address labelling so people in a few years time can look back on their transaction history and see WHO they paid rather then just an address and having to try remembering what that address was used for

4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?
if a wallet is a multicoin/multiple network supporting software. be sure to call it that. and not some 'bitcoin layer X' software
i know people see 'bitcoin' and auto trust that if its bitcoin it must be good and trusted. but these software/altnet clients should not be auto-trusted by just bitcoin brand recognition. they should be honest about what the software does, and doesnt do

EG a good example is . although a hardware wallet was initially created for bitcoin utility, because its limit was not for just bitcoin private keys, but keys of different blockchains, they managed to call it "ledger" meaning its for all blockchains. rather then jumping on the bitcoin bus and calling it something silly like 'bitcoin physical' just for brand recognition and auto trust.

EG a bad example is. although a LN wallet can handle different coins. they want to call it 'bitcoin layer 2" or "bitcoin 2.0" just to steal some unearned trust for a wallet and network thats more buggy and faulty than bitcoin wallets/bitcoin network

1. What are the features that you feel that are sorely missing?
Using my wallet as a web navigator addon. Connecting my wallet automatically to some services would facilitate a lot of tasks for me.

2. What are your biggest issues with specific wallets you're using, or with BTC/cryptocurrency wallets as a whole?
Honestly, i don't have any issue using a BTC wallet as i always prefer Non-Custodial clients over Custodial ones.

3. What's your favourite wallet and why? Is it the user interface / user experience, colours, specific functionality, habit, perceived trustworthiness, something else?
Electrum is the best IMO. It's available in al operating systems, friendly-use, and frequently updated.

4. What changes would you like to see with the wallet(s) that you're using?
Actually, the most important change i want to see in Electrum is supporting the last update TapRoot.

1. What feature do you think is missing the most?
Features that can have option to add multiple 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) in each transaction
With Non-Custodial wallets, this feature can't be added. Setting a strong password to encrypt the wallet with is enough IMO.
For Custodial wallets, it's somehow risky to use it witthout Two Factor Authentication (2FA).

The risk of malfunction is my biggest issue. I find it difficult to trust a wallet because everything is online and you can be prey to phishing anytime. I keep receiving scam links and just wonder what if I accidentally open any of them.
