Title: [SCAM] Fake Telegram account promoting youtuber review services (@Thomasyoutube)
Post by: Catena X on October 19, 2021, 03:09:32 AM
Hello everyone,

Just want to warn the community from the following two Telegram accounts: @Thomasyoutube and @Cryptorevolution00

They are posing as https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpceefaJ9vs4RYUTsO9Y3FA and https://www.youtube.com/c/CryptoRevolutionChannel, respectively.

Happy to share screenshots as necessary, we had the @Thomasyoutube account reach out and establish a relationship from around two months ago and offer a service where he explains the objective of the project to the community, naively, we agreed after a couple of weeks of negotiations, once it as time "to post the video on the channel" the account demanded additional payment to positively reflect the project, of course we rejected and declined but it was too late as we got blocked from both accounts. We informed TBB of this scam and he advised to post on this forum. Please be aware that we are not saying the Telegram accounts and the YouTube accounts are linked in any shape or form.

Best,

Luuk

Yeah...

You should beware of all telegram "chickens" that attempt to establish a business or financial deal with you but then cheat you after you pay them.

There's a stickied thread on this board I made called "Beware of telegram chats from "investors"" but it's also applicable to shady business partners like yours.

If someone needs it, youtubers has their official links in their channel's about section  :)

It's also advisable to steer clear from shady channels as they could be the ones to scam you.

As I told Luuk on telegram I post this here. Never trust anyone trying to approach you first. In the crypto world the % of scam is so high that it's just total mess. I've been contacted on Twitter, Telegram, Discord, etc so many times by random people and I always answer them to see what is all about. I don't recall finding one singe case that didn't requested some type of payment for some "services" or "unbelievable investment opportunities".

It's good such things to be reported and trying to protect other newbies from being scammed.
I guess the scammer will make another account and continue doing his shady business but at least people are aware.

Is it even possible to report Telegram accounts? (AFAIK, there is only a report button for groups, and just a block button for individual contacts).

There are a few scummy accounts I would like to report....

If an account PMs you, you have the chance to "Block and Report spam" and the top of the chat window - Once you click the cross at the other end of this button, it is gone for then. You can still block that user.

There is also a method to report an impersonator via the @NoToScam bot account.

The point is that it is so easy to set up up accounts that have similar names on telegram that media personalities are often impersonated and they use minor variations in usernames to make it seem they are the real person. Popular youtubers all have their scammer impersonators on telegram and that is why the only valid method to contact the real person is an email from the business email of the influencer to the business email of the company. This should have been asked by the CatenaX owners. A bad mistake from their side.

Otherwise these telegram accounts will change usernames before you can say "bitcoin" and they will continue to scam others.
