What Happened: Someone made a fake Chivo wallet that is used in El Salvador, and they probably want to scam new people who don't know anything about bitcoin wallets.
There are more than 50 installs so far, please don't download, don't install this fake wallet and report it to google play.

That's the reason Google is quite strict about cryptocurrency-related apps. Cryptocurrency scammers always finding a potential way to scam us. This kind of scam is quite dangerous than other any scam attempts. It could scam multiple ways, by spreading malware and faking itself. That's why before downloading any apps I tried to verify developer contact, especially email.

I know there are a lot of scam sites on the internet but I never thought there is such a scam site on the google play store. It is unbelievable that anyone can run a scam site which is listed on google play store. It is very much pathetic.

It is just as usual as before, nothing new about google play store, there were many fake apps on google play store, there will still be more fake sites on google play store, people just need to be very careful not to downalod fake apps. I will all the time prefer to visit the site for the download than visiting google play store, then if it directs me to google play store or not, there is no problem.

It's quite the opposite; Google is not strict at all regarding apps they allow on Play Store.All you have to do is pay ~100 bucks and a little but of luck (since majority of apps are not tested by real people) and your scammy app will show up there.

Oh yeah, its pretty much common knowledge that Google doesn't pay much attention to that. Apple is way more vigilant when it comes to screening process so scammers are mostly avoiding iOS.

For some time I was regularly checking (and few other members) Play Store, looking for fake wallets and reporting them. This is the result after only couple of months doing that List of fake wallets on Google Play. This is hands down, the strangest fake wallet app I've ever seen... Apart from its name, it doesn't even try to imitate the look of the original app ^{[it uses images from the BRD wallet instead]}!
