Title: Bitcoin Promo Moneybomb
Post by: Daily Anarchist on December 03, 2011, 10:26:24 PM
The Ron Paul camp does a great job of creating brochures and other moneybomb events to help spread the message about Ron Paul. Any chance of something like this happening for Bitcoin? I run a blog and it would be nice to put a post up about a bitcoin moneybomb or something.

What are you proposing the money would go towards? Do you just want to have a whole bunch of people to buy Bitcoins on the same day to cause a price spike? Do you mean for the forum? BTW I've been on your site before and enjoyed my time reading there:)

Thanks!

I'm thinking more along the lines of mass awareness projects. Like sending Bitcoin brochures to all of the business owners in New Hampshire, or a Bitcoin Blimp or a television commercial. Okay, maybe those weren't the best examples, but something organized to spread the message about Bitcoin, then collect a huge amount of donations from Bitcoin users, then put the donations towards the project.

This sounds like an interesting idea. I think that sending educational brochures to a target audience could be beneficial. However, I am skeptical if a moneybomb which has proved to be effective in political campaigns would be good for the Bitcoin market, or if it would just create a surge in prices which would be followed by increased volatility.

I don't think there is anything we can do to prevent volatility. I'm not sure if the moneybomb idea, either, is the most efficient use of time and money, but it would definitely help to spread awareness about Bitcoin, which is something we all want, right?
